She’s somehow ended up transmigrating into the book as the supporting female lead, who was beaten to death! Deeply in love with the male lead, she’s fated to be beaten to a bloody pulp before even holding hands with him?!

First things first, she needs to survive and latch onto the big thigh of a patron. But the supporting male lead is a true gentleman and feels nothing for her stunning, alluring body. That’s alright! She’ll latch onto the old madame or the male lead then!

But why does the supporting male lead look at her with increasingly odd eyes? And what of that Wulin Alliance Head with the personality disorder? You’re just a random bystander, what are you getting involved for??

Finally, the male lead could bear it no longer and dragged her back to the Prince Li Manor…

Suggestion: Consider reading the first 100 or so chapters, find a good stopping point, then make up the rest of the story on your own.

The early chapters are super cute and this story had a lot of potential, but by the 120+ mark it becomes a total mess. I've lost any semblance of attachment to the characters, the relationship dynamics make my eyes roll in disbelief, and it's become an overly convoluted clusterf*ck. Should have just stuck with the brainless fluff interactions, since the author has tried to write a... more>> story far beyond her capabilities. <<less

At first its enjoyable and what comes after just makes everything go downhill. The characters are very plain and the protagonist's golden finger just snaps out of nowhere. The "villains" are placed in a way to obviously highlight how praiseworthy the main characters are and miserably fail. It miserably fails since how its executed cannot take a different turn than write how bad this character is than the MC or how their shortcomings are shoved down the readers' throats. The MC is stupid. Its just that the plot and her... more>> golden finger makes her appear not to. Plus, she is a hypocrite shoving down her beliefs to other people, specially when Su Yun's character appeared (another transmigrator). Basically the MC is "if you dont fit in my moral standards, then youre bad and you deserve all the bad things thats gonna happen to you and im a very good person". A character dies miserably and disappears and our MC here weeps not because of the misfortune suffered by the other but because shes scared that she'll also disappear. I totally get it but at least stop claiming to be a better person than the "villain" just to justify what happened to the latter. I dont mind "evil", fierce, or gray moralization of protagonists. What I cant stand though, are hypocrites. And the MC in this novel is a big one. Would I still read it?: if I had nothing else to do. <<less

She asks why the plot line is not flowing like it did in her book....

I wonder why the f**k not? its not like everything she is doing is not like the original character...

its not like she is interacting with characters when she is not supposed.

... more>> SHES NOT FOLLOWING THE PLOT AND SHE IS FREAKING OUT CAUSE THE PLOT ISNT FLOWING LIKE ITS SUPPOSED TO!!!!!!

This is actually one of the worst novels I have ever read. She wants to get away but everything she does actually forces her to stay. I want to rip my hair out cause no one can be so retarded. You want to leave the male lead and go to the supporting male lead, so why don't you go do it? No you have to indirectly send clues that make it look like you are trying to flatter the male lead instead of the supporting character. How does this get 5 stars? I really want to know? Does stupidity and terrible plot mean good book? Does writing a story of the lead doing everything she can to run away but everything she is doing to run away has the opposite effect that even a 3 year old would think she is stupid when reading this. I can't. I can't believe everyone on this website appreciates works of sh*t. <<less

Dropping the novel because the whole thing is not rewarding to continue reading and no longer entertaining. The case of the Main character's growth is questionable. How long will anyone allow themselves to be spoon-fed with information? This novel pretty much suffocated me with force feeding and assertion on who to like and who to not like.
Spoiler

The main character acts like a white lotus--because she is dictating herself to be one to survive inside the novel's world. In the end she took all the roles that were supposedly for the Female Lead of the novel.

[collapse]
By 70+ chapter, it felt like I was forced to babysit children and only allowed to watch their interaction and role-playing game despite them getting hurt. 100+ chapters in and there were still no sign of knowing how the main character got into the novel's world and how she would go back to reality.

I have to admit that the first part of the novel was enjoyable but the further one goes in the more you realize that the author was playing a prank on you the whole time. Otherwise, why would the author tease you with the consummation of marriage for the next 60+ chapters with no end result because of incidents, injuries and other outside factors. Several other reviewers gave an honest rating of the novel. You can check those who are not rating this 5-star and keep an open mind.

I salute those who liked this novel. Good for you. It's not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, I've wasted enough hours on junk reading. My advice is to read through the honest ratings first then really consider if this is a novel is something you would enjoy before start reading this.

This story starts off really strong. It's not hard to see why so many people reviewed it highly in the beginning, and it's almost a refreshing change of pace from other transmigration novels for a long while. However by the 100th chapter it just starts taking a sharp nose dive in quality that it just can't recover from. The three stars I give it are in consideration to the excellent translation and those earlier chapters.

Please, please take notice of how many lower reviews there are for people who read past... more>> the first 100 chapters. There are extremely good reasons for why almost all the positive reviews come from people who are still early into this series...

Some of the issues are as follows, and I do encourage anyone still interested in this novel to go in fully informed.

Spoiler

1. The male lead and the female lead have no chemistry. In fact just when you think they might start understanding each other you're met with a deluge of several dozen chapters where you cannot help but wonder why their interactions are even considered romantic. He r*pes her. A lot. And it's considered normal and just something to be put up with. As if any man would do it so he shouldn't be chastised for his actions.

No, I am not kidding. It's not even 'dub-con' in most situations. She's actively crying during s*x and in some instances trying to punch him off of her, with pretty much every encounter ending with her in worlds of pain for days after. It isn't until like 40+ chapters later that she has a positive sexual encounter with the man - and by positive I mean it she just stops trying to fight back and he somehow finally learns to be gentle. ROMANCE OF THE YEAR FOLKS.

Eventually she just 'falls in love' with him after eons of this being the status quo and it's just not believable. The author tries to sell it to us by suddenly turning the previously reasonable female lead into a bit of a jealous monster but at no point do you buy it.

2. The male lead is a horrendous person and in any other novel he'd be the villain, not the lead. He makes Christian Grey from FSoG look tame and well adjusted. But oh no he's nice sometimes and /eventually/ our heroine learns to enjoy his advances... Give me a break. This man's redeeming qualities are literally stripped away in the second half and I'm supposed to see it as a good thing? I'll take the misunderstanding, yet somewhat kind jerk from earlier in the novel.

3. The author really has some nasty opinions on r*pe in general... As the main female 'love rival' is treated horrendously for no real reason and shamed for having been r*ped AS IF SHE WAS THE ONE AT FAULT. Our generous female lead musters one whole paragraph weakly defending her as having been forced but eventually the writer just doubles down on shaming the poor woman, even as she constantly likes to remind us THAT SHE ISN'T OKAY WITH THE SITUATION AND IS BASICALLY BEING SEXUAL ASSAULTED ON THE REGULAR BY A MAN WHO WON'T LEAVE HER ALONE. But 'oh no' she isn't pure anymore so that's why the male lead no longer likes her. It's disgusting.

At first you think the story is going to subvert the 'jealous female love rival' trope, but by the time I finally had had enough it was in full force and I just couldn't handle it anymore. It felt like the author was wanting me to be happy Miss Lin had been r*ped because it meant her lack of purity could no longer come between the two leads, but it just made me sick to my stomach.

Why couldn't the author continue the genuinely interesting rapport Miss Lin and Miss Bai had in the beginning? Why did Miss Lin ever need to be r*ped to make her 'undesirable' when the Male Lead already disliked her due to her running away and misunderstanding his character? (She didn't by the way, I'd run too.) There's no reason for this character to be an antagonist aside from 'drama', and it's just not satisfying to watch when in almost every instance Miss Lin is the victim.

4. Why is there a talking cactus? No seriously? Why? Why is this a thing? I don't think even the author knows because it'll disappear for 30-60+ chapters only to come back for one paragraph before leaving again. You could write it out of the story by the time I put this down and nothing would have changed.

[collapse]

If all that doesn't scare you off, enjoy. To everyone else who might be interested in the start, I'd read up to when they visit a certain inn and then drop it. It's not worth reading after that point. <<less

When I started reading this novel I had some expectations of it as it has got great reviews. But reading it was a different matter as I found it annoying and now I'm just angry...

The MC is a very weak woman. And that's FINE with me. I get that someone has a weak constitution and can't stand blood. She's just soooo scared that the ML will kill her so she doesn't want to stand out and always shrinks back like a widdle scared wabbit. And also, what's up withe her... more>> always thinking that she's just a side character and the ML is the heroine's man... and also, how the F is she a modern woman??? She's clearly not. I found it cute at first but now it's just annoying.

Another matter is the plot. It just doesn't go anywhere. At least not where it's supposed to go. Everything is about the MC being weak and how cute she is. It was tedious to read as it wasn't any romance or comedy, just misunderstanding after misunderstanding and "oh, he's so scary!". No development whatsoever and it's been 73 chapters. 73 chapters! I just can't. I'm just angry now and after the ML's values on women got to me once again and the MC once again makes everyone worry as she got hurt again I just can't read anymore. I guess I don't see the fluffyness in the novel and I didn't even read until they had their first time. But maybe that's for the best as I heard the MC gets r*ped a lot in the future chaps. Another person maybe found it cute and fluffy... but this novel was not mu cup of tea sadly. <<less

I enjoyed this novel a lot more than I thought would all thanks to Bai Xiangxiu. The MC's personality is very different compared to the ones in other transmigration stories. I really like how she isn't the typical overpowered assassin, doctor, etc. Or someone with a mastery of non ending skills. She has to rely on herself and adapt to the circumstances, which leads to plenty of hilarious scenes.

In the beginning, the story was hilarious and the misunderstandings were cute, however after the same thing keeps happening over and over again, it's getting boring and predictable. The interactions of the MC and ML are about "oh he's so scary but so hot" and "she's so cute, I want to do her" and there's really not much more to that. The author is going for a malicious/cold ML and simple-minded sweet MC. And while these kinds of characters should be perfect together, they aren't because their interactions are too... more>> forced. The MC is just stupid. Not dense. PURE STUPID.
Spoiler

She doesn't see the obvious signs of the ml's love. So she is just misunderstanding all own her own because the story needs an excuse to continue the conflict. I would be okay with some prolonging since novels just need to do it for obvious reasons (cash, more drama, etc), but it's been happening since forever. Everything is becoming tedious to read.

I like it the first 100ch but after that it become so repetitive, so trite and so boring I want to hurl. How many times do I need to know about how pretty, how week, how pure is our mc? How domineering and forceful and handsome the male lead is? How many times do I need to read about the torturous s*x since nobody in this novel seem to know what a clit is? It get me to skip paragraphs after paragraph of nonsensical nonsense about their lovemaking when its... more>> too painful I should just read a torture porn.

Im not a fan of the usual genius assassin wangfei or whatnot that wow everyone so I don't mind a weak female lead but can you just stop harping on her weakness and her saintliness? The mary sue act is seriously vomit inducing. <<less

At first reading I really love the FMC.

And even though MMC is a bully, it was quiet cute.

But aftet latter on..I am disappointed with FMC, can't believe she from moden world. Kind of understand that she want to return back since she is concubine, but as the chapter goes on, she doesn't show an effort to go home. She didnt even try to prick her fingers on the cactus that winter to try to go home. But let herself r*pe by MMC everyday due to MMC jealously.

Every words doesn't show... more>> she hate MMC but want to monopolies him but cant. A childish way of showing hate that MMC getting a new toys.

To me every word the author say show that she enjoy getting r*pe by MMC. Believe me, if women don't like it, they will kill themselves rather than be use as s** slave.

But after all that tussle, it is not logic she does not pregnant. In real life, if continuesly being r*pe more than 1month, u will get pragnant unless ur partners (M/F) is impotent. Much less the MMC has confine MFC since autumn even though now and then she been kidnap. But the ratio the MMC have s** with her is a lot than the day she been missing.

Doesn't this show one of them impotent?

And if she really want to leave MMC, all people (supporting charactter) are saying they willing to take her as main wife! All u have to do is show a pathetic face and cry and they willing to die for you. Beside, the MMC cant do anything if the people around point fingers saying he care more of concubine than his soon to be wife. I bet the mother and emperor will do something if such rumors escalated.

But noooooo, she keep doing everything to please MMC. Would it kill ya to standup on yar own for once? To try and kill urself when he keep r*pe u?

I am soooo mad at MFC washy wishy attitude. Author just make her die or go home. She nothing but dragging down out morden women dependant will to the gutter.

Argh god. I wish the author do something about FMC stupid mind!!! <<less

I really enjoyed reading this novel. The MC was refreshingly unique--while she appeared to be a naive and innocent concubine, she was actually a scheming and cunning young woman. This made the novel quite hilarious; it always put a smile on my face when the supporting characters and Long Heng (the male lead) misunderstood the mischievous Bai Xiangxiu.

BUT this very same fact raises an interesting question--does Long Heng really love her? In the novel, it's pretty obvious he is absolutely infatuated with the adorable, faultless, and innocent Bai Xiangxiu. But... more>> does he love the devious, calculating fox she truly is? Isn't his attraction all a lie?

Maybe the question is too deep for a light, fluffy novel like DCF. And honestly, I don't really care that much. I still LOVE this novel. I just hope he learns to love her for who she truly is.

Spoiler

Actually, Long Heng did have a glimpse of her true character in one of the first chapters. Bai Xiangxiu was walking with her maid while wearing a long skirt. She kept tripping clumsily and cursed, "Whoever that invented this long skirt was clearly trying to ruin the lives of females. His corpse deserves to be whipped a hundred times. A hundred times!"

Both Long Heng and Song Jiaoyue (supporting male lead) heard this loud proclamation, concluding that she was quite a violent concubine. In current chapters, however, both hold the opinion that she's a cute and innocent girl. So what happened to that incident? Did they just completely overlook it? Lmao.

I totally love this novel and anticipated the next chapter everyday...

A transmigration story with no OP power. FMC is a modern woman and is likable, sensible, talented botanist and is so adorable. The ML is funny and different cause his not those usual black bellied ice block. Recommended this story for the comedy and the fan-comments it entails.

Just read it I recommend you will enjoy and have laugh in the side story comments made by readers..

Just another female transmigration story, is what I thought when I saw the summary. It's true, you've got your usual storyline, the ancient traditions, the extraordinarily beautiful MC trying to get out of things but somehow blunders here and there and always end up getting tangled with the cold male lead as well as a talking magical treasure.

What is different from other similar female-lead-in-ancient-orient story is that she's kind of normal. She likes gardening and doing woodworks, but she isn't one of those cold, ruthless female that's a genius at... more>> assasination/medicine/politics. She's rather timid and misses clues sometimes, trying to think of what other MC would do and trying to recall any poems or plotlines that would help her.

So if you like the female lead in ancient time stories, this is a nice read (well written and well translated). If you like the genius, headstrong female MC and get annoyed at the clueless/timid type, then try other stories. <<less

I was thinking this novel would be awesome because its rating so I've great expectations on this, but it's just another trasmigration's story with the ML finding excuses to have s*x with the FL every time and not leaving the bed for two days. It's frustrating reading this every two or three chapters.

I don't like the ML, he is so possessive with the FL and when they're arguing or when he's jealous he just wants to resolve the problems through s*x because "she is his woman" 🙄

To be fair, I don't know where the 4.6 rating of this novel comes from.

The first part is good, the setting is a little different than usual transmigration novels, even the FL is kinda different, and it is enjoiable to read. The problem? The ML. Hell, the author makes it pass as an ok thing for him to treat her forcefully, and he NEVER repents. He thinks he's spoiling her or something? When she's clearly scared. From some point, his only tought is about eating the FL up, even if... more>> she is unwilling as clear as the sky. There were a few attemped r*pes till the point I read, and that's totally disgusting, cause it's shown as the ML "love" for the FL.

Plus, the ML is Always forceful towards her, I don't see his "teasing" as cute or romantic at all. I just reached a point were I felt unconfortable reading, so I decided to drop it. I don't really wanna see how it goes on, I will spare me from the r*pe scenes at least. <<less

The main character seems to suffer from brittle bone syndrome, a gust of wind will cause all her ribs to be crushed. Seriously, every chapter a doctor has to come in order take care of her sudden injuries. The author seems to romanticize this horrible trait by making it seem appealing to the male lead, "ooh shes so helpless and weak like a defenseless blind kitten" in fact I feel like a kitten would be able to fight back more instead of this heroine. Her skin is also made out... more>> of paper or something, but in order to make up for all of this she's suppose to be the most beautiful woman in china from the way they describe her in every chapter.

Spoiler

The original main female heroine gets villainized for no good reason and she ends up getting sexually assaulted and then r*ped. Afterwards, all the other characters (the male lead especially) proceed to blame her and call her a whore. Its hard not to pity her when the new female lead is a hypocritical coward wearing a mary sue crown, who only cares about herself. I don't mind manipulative type characters, but this woman doesn't even have the brains to do that.

I forgot how old this woman was suppose to be but I know that she was a grown ass woman in her other life in the modern world, but in this world she acts like a child. <<less

First and foremost, I would like to thank the translation team for doing an awesome job in translating this novel. The MC found herself inside the novel she reads and found that she's the supporting character with a bad end.

I find this novel very entertaining. I was with the MC in her adventures and her quirkiness. She was this shy and soft girl who's clueless to the traditions of the world of old China. Good thing she has the knowledge of story so she can avoid perilious situations. It's so... more>> endearing to see her doing her best to stay in the background. I can't hate her for being weak when she always do her best in situations.

What's satisfying for me tho was her growth. She grew from that scared fragile girl to someone who fights for what she wants. And of course, THE. FLUFF. My god! I am blushing and nosebleeding on this novel. My heart just screams for it. This is one of the special transmigration romances that I love.

Spoiler

I don't know why people keep saying its r*pe. I mean, come on, it's OLD CHINA. That isn't 21st century. They have their own beliefs and traditions. And the Male Lead, he's a pure guy who never had any access to girls as he was directly thrown into war. And we have this virgin, tsundere and fragile MC who faints at the sight of blood. What would you expect? An amazing first time where there's no hurt?

YES. There will be so much satisfying *beep beep*~! But I never found it as r*pe. Why? Cause MC understands him. She knows that he's so new to it and doesnt know how to control himself that's why she can't stand up the next day. I can see how dedicated the male lead to the her and she, to him, as she fell in love. And you know, in the later part, he'll learn to be gentle to her. Since MC is his only girl, he got no bedroom expertise.

Expect a lot of scheming here too and annoying people. I swear, I'm sick of seemingly undying enemies. I just want them dead.

[collapse]

Overall, this is one of novels you read and enjoy on a good day. It's worth the read and will entertain you throughout <3

Thank you Volare for your awesome novel choices. I love all of these chinese romances <3 <<less
