First things first, she needs to survive and latch onto the big thigh of a patron. But the supporting male lead is a true gentleman and feels nothing for her stunning, alluring body. That’s alright! She’ll latch onto the old madame or the male lead then!

But why does the supporting male lead look at her with increasingly odd eyes? And what of that Wulin Alliance Head with the personality disorder? You’re just a random bystander, what are you getting involved for??

Finally, the male lead could bear it no longer and dragged her back to the Prince Li Manor…

Well, I think I've become a gourmet reader, or probably I'm just more conscious of what I'm reading now that I'm older.

Truth be told it's nice at the beginning, I always tend to ignore certain things so that I won't that hag complaining about everything, but seriously some stuff in this novel just pissed me off.

(Alert! Contain some spoilers)

Firstly, I thought she would be with that second male support character, but no, of course it would the super perfect male lead. Okay, even if he looked just like... more>> some egocentric, narcissistic dude, he was a prince in the ancient times and blah blah blah, alright then, I'll let it pass. While he was a person who disdained beauty, he still got interested in our fl, obviously. But the reason was so made up that I just read and already forgot why did he take interest in a person whose almost fainted at the mere mention of his name, really.

Sigh, most people thought it was funny how she just wanted to scape from there, but I couldn't laugh at all. A person who suddenly was without any rights in the ancient times with the freedom she had in the modern world would surely freak out. But that started to get really annoying. She feared everything in the manor, then suddenly she didn't, she was a very weak girl, but suddenly she isn't. Alright, that's just how it normally is those kind of stories so let's read some more, I thought.

But, for f*cks sake. Why was this story just getting worse off??? The moment they did the deed, it wasn't a passionate night, that was torture. R*pe, maybe. What's wrong with this people? The author explicitly said she didn't enjoy at all, "she felt the pain but not the pleasure that came it", her words, not mine. Kids, that's not cute, nor funny, nor romantic, nor cute. That's just an immense suffering.

The novel is written in a way that kinda mocks how the original novel was, mostly because of the actions of the FL. She pitied the second male lead for being let alone till the end, and how he was kind and gentle of nature, but a boss shows he's true nature when facing his subordinates. That wasn't kind nor gentle, just a rich, spoiled brat who couldn't take any grievances.

It's described as if the original FL was a b*tch, but seriously that's just how most of the FLs in japanese shoujo are, the holy mother type, I didn't bother because I wasn't reading a story with such a FL, oh silly me.

It was exactly the same. She was attracting people everywhere just like Lin Qianzi. OMFG, that's really annoying. I hate this kind of thing the most. Suddenly appears Yu Kuang, which just so happens to be super handsome and with superb martial arts, and of course a grand position in his environment, just accidentally run to her when she was kidnapped, AGAIN. Then, he brings her to his place which was some wulin place. He haves two different personalities, and of course he doesn't remember everything he did, just has some flashbacks in his dreams. She happens to meet this other personality of his, Yu Shun. This Yu Shun is like a kid in a man's body. It's important to emphasize in a grown man's body. Although she had all that sh*t with the ML, she considered herself in a serious relationship with him. But you know what she actually did? Slept with him, shared a bed with. Then they switched personalities and he find himself laying in a bed with her. Of course, he wanted to take responsibility, but she said she didn't and just lightly implied some stuff. He fell in love with her, obviously. Then she opposed to his marriage proposal, but just like the heroin she despised, not very strongly just opposing but not really. Then he started to stalk her. That's stalking people, not persuing your beloved passionately, as it's described like. Oh yes, there's also Song Jiaoyue who actually takes her to his house, there's a mood between then, he forces himself upon her, and she refuses again. But I still feel she is just ambiguous in her refusing as the original FL.

Bai Xianxiu just get injured all the time, for things to happen she's burnt, scattered, stabbed and sexually abused by the ML. As I said, that's not a wild and passionate s*x.

This novel just didn't satisfied me in any way possible, I didn't find it funny, as it joked with things that wasn't funny at all. The romance it's just like any other romance with some CEO novel, where the relation between the parties are just as shallow as their self-respect. The relationship's based in s*x and physical attraction, and that's it. Since she's the most beautiful person ever, as the author just can't stop remembering the readers of it. And the ML is of course domineering, disrespectful, arrogant, egoistic and the FL's dog. The FL is hypocritical, s*upid and annoying. There's nothing cute romancing abusive relationships, I pass things over as long as it doesn't reach those kind of sensitive matters. If the author didn't have the capacity to handle it, she should never have mentioned or set the novel like so.

Besides some supporting characters, others were just some 1D people who served as fuel for the romance or the FL's good name.

Till the point I've reached the only character I've found likeable was really just Song furen, the second ML's mother. Sympathizing with a foodie.

Well, I don't know if I made my point, but this novel for me was just a huge no. I find really overrated.

(Do excuse me if I've wrongly wrote something, take in mind english isn't my mother language) <<less

Look at that, 5 stars across the board.

So what does make this novel standout among the reincarnated female MC genre? The refreshing unorthodox MC, which is silent, timid but pure in all aspects, not domineering but still not a push over. Its like watching the slit eyed character like brok, gin or lau play the leading role.

We all know timid and silent types were usually looked down upon by other novels but thats what make this novel shine even brighter cause the cast actually appreciate her. Only thing I don[t... more>> quite like is how often she gets injured and how a chapter revolves around that, its ridiculous but kinda negligible <<less

I was thinking this novel would be awesome because its rating so I've great expectations on this, but it's just another trasmigration's story with the ML finding excuses to have s*x with the FL every time and not leaving the bed for two days. It's frustrating reading this every two or three chapters.

I don't like the ML, he is so possessive with the FL and when they're arguing or when he's jealous he just wants to resolve the problems through s*x because "she is his woman" ?

The cute and nice... more>> part is Haoe'r, the cactus, really I didn't think a cactus would be so cute. <<less

This story starts off really strong. It's not hard to see why so many people reviewed it highly in the beginning, and it's almost a refreshing change of pace from other transmigration novels for a long while. However by the 100th chapter it just starts taking a sharp nose dive in quality that it just can't recover from. The three stars I give it are in consideration to the excellent translation and those earlier chapters.

Please, please take notice of how many lower reviews there are for people who read past... more>> the first 100 chapters. There are extremely good reasons for why almost all the positive reviews come from people who are still early into this series...

Some of the issues are as follows, and I do encourage anyone still interested in this novel to go in fully informed.

Spoiler

1. The male lead and the female lead have no chemistry. In fact just when you think they might start understanding each other you're met with a deluge of several dozen chapters where you cannot help but wonder why their interactions are even considered romantic. He r*pes her. A lot. And it's considered normal and just something to be put up with. As if any man would do it so he shouldn't be chastised for his actions.

No, I am not kidding. It's not even 'dub-con' in most situations. She's actively crying during s*x and in some instances trying to punch him off of her, with pretty much every encounter ending with her in worlds of pain for days after. It isn't until like 40+ chapters later that she has a positive s*xual encounter with the man - and by positive I mean it she just stops trying to fight back and he somehow finally learns to be gentle. ROMANCE OF THE YEAR FOLKS.

Eventually she just 'falls in love' with him after eons of this being the status quo and it's just not believable. The author tries to sell it to us by suddenly turning the previously reasonable female lead into a bit of a jealous monster but at no point do you buy it.

2. The male lead is a horrendous person and in any other novel he'd be the villain, not the lead. He makes Christian Grey from FSoG look tame and well adjusted. But oh no he's nice sometimes and /eventually/ our heroine learns to enjoy his advances... Give me a break. This man's redeeming qualities are literally stripped away in the second half and I'm supposed to see it as a good thing? I'll take the misunderstanding, yet somewhat kind jerk from earlier in the novel.

3. The author really has some nasty opinions on r*pe in general... As the main female 'love rival' is treated horrendously for no real reason and shamed for having been r*ped AS IF SHE WAS THE ONE AT FAULT. Our generous female lead musters one whole paragraph weakly defending her as having been forced but eventually the writer just doubles down on shaming the poor woman, even as she constantly likes to remind us THAT SHE ISN'T OKAY WITH THE SITUATION AND IS BASICALLY BEING s*xual ASSAULTED ON THE REGULAR BY A MAN WHO WON'T LEAVE HER ALONE. But 'oh no' she isn't pure anymore so that's why the male lead no longer likes her. It's disgusting.

At first you think the story is going to subvert the 'jealous female love rival' trope, but by the time I finally had had enough it was in full force and I just couldn't handle it anymore. It felt like the author was wanting me to be happy Miss Lin had been r*ped because it meant her lack of purity could no longer come between the two leads, but it just made me sick to my stomach.

Why couldn't the author continue the genuinely interesting rapport Miss Lin and Miss Bai had in the beginning? Why did Miss Lin ever need to be r*ped to make her 'undesirable' when the Male Lead already disliked her due to her running away and misunderstanding his character? (She didn't by the way, I'd run too.) There's no reason for this character to be an antagonist aside from 'drama', and it's just not satisfying to watch when in almost every instance Miss Lin is the victim.

4. Why is there a talking cactus? No seriously? Why? Why is this a thing? I don't think even the author knows because it'll disappear for 30-60+ chapters only to come back for one paragraph before leaving again. You could write it out of the story by the time I put this down and nothing would have changed.

[collapse]

If all that doesn't scare you off, enjoy. To everyone else who might be interested in the start, I'd read up to when they visit a certain inn and then drop it. It's not worth reading after that point. <<less

If you like My Disciple Died Yet Again and Meow Meow Meow, then you will love this!

This is such a refreshing story! It has that mellow pace that keeps the story flowing seamlessly. I like how the chapters are not too short nor too long. It was perfect in a way you get something out of it every time. Chapter release speed is also A-MA-ZIiiiiING.

It contains unexpected twists to a plot told too many times before and this makes runaway brides observed by a side female character plot so unique.

Main... more>> character is quite pragmatic. She's emotionally blind though to a fault which was cute at first but now she will probably faint just cause she's one of those physically weak characters. She's more on the laying low, calculated clumsiness type with ulterior motives but even the readers cant tell at this point if she is hiding something or she is a SAINT.

Edit: She's a saint that can think. <<less

This novel has plenty reviews, but I would like to clarify some things for the readers:

- no, the female lead does not enjoy fainting and being weak. It is the body of the original owner that is too thin and sticks to the popular damsel in distress body. The female lead will eventually overcome that.

- yes, the female lead is VERY afraid of the ML in the beginning, but that’s because she read the brutal death of the original. She does not know how strong the storyline is, and she... more>> does not want to risk her life by taking any chances with the ML, because the female lead is yet to appear. Also, if you read a whole story about a couple, how likely are you to want to be with the guy? Plus, later on the storyline does turn out to be very STRONG, especially with the original FL of the story.

- yes, the ML was brutal in killing he original owner of the FL body, but that’s because she schemed and pretended innocent and etc. She went overboard when she drugged the ML and tried to r*pe him.

- cactus is a cactus, leave him alone. This is a fantasy novel, and cactus just plays a role of connecting her to the previous life. This connection will come up a lot later in the story. Also he is super cute and brings fluff.

- ok, let’s address the elephant in the room. There is a r*pe tag. But. It is not forced, or at least as forced as everyone talks about it. It happens way later in the story, and in that time ML and FL many interactions and slowly build feelings for each other. It looks like the ML fell in love first, but the FL is just better at denying any chances with him due to her fear of death (which is normal).
ML is just following what’s normal in his world. He had no interests in other females, but started to like the FL. But In the beginning almost every time he “visited” her as all husbands visit their wives, FL would faint, feel ill, or too scared, and he would not do anything. When they finally did it, the FL already decided to stay with him and before that several times went along with him (it’s just that they would always be interrupted with something). She could have easily rejected the ML, saying she is ill or feels weak, and nothing would have happened. The ML would not get angry. Instead, he always wondered how to avoid hurting her (he constantly compares her to paper). There will be a little angst in the middle, but believe me it is just a misunderstanding. R*pe is not okay, but in this story, the only reason it is a r*pe is because this is ancient times and the FL supposedly did not have a choice (she had lots of choices btw, she could have divorced him anytime, or live with the second ML, or stay with this one Martial Arts dude, even as a friend, or just go to her family, they were not too bad)

hope that clarifies some of your questions. In the beginning.m, it takes a long time for the ML and FL to become a couple, but it is important for the it couple growth and love. Super fluffy later on. (Just maybe some angst, but bearable) <<less

To be fair, I don't know where the 4.6 rating of this novel comes from.

The first part is good, the setting is a little different than usual transmigration novels, even the FL is kinda different, and it is enjoiable to read. The problem? The ML. Hell, the author makes it pass as an ok thing for him to treat her forcefully, and he NEVER repents. He thinks he's spoiling her or something? When she's clearly scared. From some point, his only tought is about eating the FL up, even if... more>> she is unwilling as clear as the sky. There were a few attemped r*pes till the point I read, and that's totally disgusting, cause it's shown as the ML "love" for the FL.

Plus, the ML is Always forceful towards her, I don't see his "teasing" as cute or romantic at all. I just reached a point were I felt unconfortable reading, so I decided to drop it. I don't really wanna see how it goes on, I will spare me from the r*pe scenes at least. <<less

I've treated this novel as my very own eldest child ah. Watching it develop from such an early age to this point in time I cant help butvfeel reluctant that its about to end. Huhu..

Anyways. Ive laughed, cried, smashed things, smashed some more things, and REFRESHED the damn site too many tines in the course of reading this novel.

Ive also smashed things, slapped things, kicked things and even boight poison (rat killer to ve specific) for the immortal c*ckroach ms lin and friends.

But come hook or crook BXX can finally... more>> raise her head enjoy her new family and destroy nations as a hobby. Long heng truly earned his keep and I can finally let song gongzhi go. Alliance head wu, being the only one left will be wed to ~~~me, ah!

To all the prospective readers out there, this story is written excellently. The character development is very good. The romance is not rushed and the main couple is faithful!!!

All other wannabes for the ML are easily dealt with (except the coackroah ms lin who always survives). She eventually found her true calling~~eh, whoring around.

Everybody got their due and the longs, ahahhah???, lived looooong ah~~..

So hapoy for this project baby to be completed.

Also to the mighty translator who pleasurably conceived, determinably carried on, painstakingly laboured to birth this wonderful baby~ in short tranlated wholeheartedly.... THANK YOU. I will keep on cgeering you and pray for you to be blessed!

Also to the author, thank you for not telling the translator to abort yourblove child~ ah. But seriously thanks for writing this novel.!!

This is a classic that will forver be part of me from after reading just the first chapter.

Thank you thank you to everyone whi made this noble novel be made available to us lowly earthlings!! <<less

✓ There's actually a lot of funny scenes

✓ The female lead's got a good head on her shoulders, even though she's scattered-brain sometimes

... more>> [What I don't like]

Repetitive.

I found it too overbearing, like, okay, I get it, FL is hot and she's got common sense, and everybody is attracted to her, bone her or otherwise. But come on, we're at Chapter 85, and author is still describing her 'attractiveness' over and over? Seems overkill to me. Like, we get it, we won't likely forget, chill.

Inconsistent.

Sometimes the author forgets that FL is a 26 years-old modern woman. There are times that FL can't handle basic skinship, and then at times she's very much okay with it.

P.S.

Is it a trend for authors to constantly bring down another woman to describe how awesome FL is? In about almost everything, from her looks, to her temper, to her intellect..95 times in a 100 that the author needed to describe her, she needed to compared to another woman... doesn't do that to most male characters... kinda off putting, tbh. I hope that trend dies soon.

Updated 2021: Did the translator sell the book on Kindle, or is it joint collab with original author? Hope it's the latter cause, wow. <<less

Suggestion: Consider reading the first 100 or so chapters, find a good stopping point, then make up the rest of the story on your own.

The early chapters are super cute and this story had a lot of potential, but by the 120+ mark it becomes a total mess. At first its enjoyable and what comes after just makes everything go downhill. The characters are very plain and the protagonist's golden finger just snaps out of nowhere. The "villains" are placed in a way to obviously highlight how praiseworthy the main characters are and miserably fail. It miserably fails since how its executed cannot take a different turn than write how bad this character is than the MC or how their shortcomings are shoved down the readers' throats. The MC is s*upid. Its just that the plot and her... more>> golden finger makes her appear not to. Plus, she is a hypocrite shoving down her beliefs to other people, specially when Su Yun's character appeared (another transmigrator). Basically the MC is "if you dont fit in my moral standards, then youre bad and you deserve all the bad things thats gonna happen to you and im a very good person". A character dies miserably and disappears and our MC here weeps not because of the misfortune suffered by the other but because shes scared that she'll also disappear. I totally get it but at least stop claiming to be a better person than the "villain" just to justify what happened to the latter. I dont mind "evil", fierce, or gray moralization of protagonists. What I cant stand though, are hypocrites. And the MC in this novel is a big one. Would I still read it?: if I had nothing else to do. <<less

At first reading I really love the FMC.

And even though MMC is a bully, it was quiet cute.

But aftet latter on..I am disappointed with FMC, can't believe she from moden world. Kind of understand that she want to return back since she is concubine, but as the chapter goes on, she doesn't show an effort to go home. She didnt even try to prick her fingers on the cactus that winter to try to go home. But let herself r*pe by MMC everyday due to MMC jealously.

Every words doesn't show... more>> she hate MMC but want to monopolies him but cant. A childish way of showing hate that MMC getting a new toys.

To me every word the author say show that she enjoy getting r*pe by MMC. Believe me, if women don't like it, they will kill themselves rather than be use as s** s*ave.

But after all that tussle, it is not logic she does not pregnant. In real life, if continuesly being r*pe more than 1month, u will get pragnant unless ur partners (M/F) is impotent. Much less the MMC has confine MFC since autumn even though now and then she been kidnap. But the ratio the MMC have s** with her is a lot than the day she been missing.

Doesn't this show one of them impotent?

And if she really want to leave MMC, all people (supporting charactter) are saying they willing to take her as main wife! All u have to do is show a pathetic face and cry and they willing to die for you. Beside, the MMC cant do anything if the people around point fingers saying he care more of concubine than his soon to be wife. I bet the mother and emperor will do something if such rumors escalated.

But noooooo, she keep doing everything to please MMC. Would it kill ya to standup on yar own for once? To try and kill urself when he keep r*pe u?

I am soooo mad at MFC washy wishy attitude. Author just make her die or go home. She nothing but dragging down out morden women dependant will to the gutter.

Argh god. I wish the author do something about FMC s*upid mind!!! <<less

I ended up having to read this on Amazon Kindle unlimited (since it has been removed from the translators's site)

This was a pretty fun book to read, very typical of Chinese book in that it's like a TV drama got put to the page. I didn't like how the main female character starts out trying to stay low, but then takes on many of the characteristics of a typical female lead in the end. In fact, she acts like the worst type of female lead: acting helpless when she... more>> isn't, relying on her looks to overcome criticism, "unwittingly" attracting all the good men in the book. I honestly didn't see how she was different from many of the other insufferable female leads that this book is supposedly satirizing. My other main gripe is how sexist and appearance-centric the author is. The sexism was definitely annoying - the author (or at least the translation) keeps on empathizing how all men like this, or all women like that. No, not all men like sweet and helpless women, and no, not all women like buff and uncommunicative men. I feel this book has some of the worst stereotypes of men and women and what they supposedly like or don't like.

The focus on appearances is pretty typical for this genre, but this book seems to take it to another level. I couldn't read a page without coming across some commentary on a character's looks. Honestly, after I have an image of a character in my head, I don't need to be reminded repeatedly about their attractiveness.

All gripes aside, this book was still a fun read and I appreciate the effort it took the translators to convert the story to English. <<less

When I started reading this novel I had some expectations of it as it has got great reviews. But reading it was a different matter as I found it annoying and now I'm just angry...

The MC is a very weak woman. And that's FINE with me. I get that someone has a weak constitution and can't stand blood. She's just soooo scared that the ML will kill her so she doesn't want to stand out and always shrinks back like a widdle scared wabbit. And also, what's up withe her... more>> always thinking that she's just a side character and the ML is the heroine's man... and also, how the F is she a modern woman??? She's clearly not. I found it cute at first but now it's just annoying.

Another matter is the plot. It just doesn't go anywhere. At least not where it's supposed to go. Everything is about the MC being weak and how cute she is. It was tedious to read as it wasn't any romance or comedy, just misunderstanding after misunderstanding and "oh, he's so scary!". No development whatsoever and it's been 73 chapters. 73 chapters! I just can't. I'm just angry now and after the ML's values on women got to me once again and the MC once again makes everyone worry as she got hurt again I just can't read anymore. I guess I don't see the fluffyness in the novel and I didn't even read until they had their first time. But maybe that's for the best as I heard the MC gets r*ped a lot in the future chaps. Another person maybe found it cute and fluffy... but this novel was not mu cup of tea sadly. <<less

I enjoyed this novel a lot more than I thought would all thanks to Bai Xiangxiu. The MC's personality is very different compared to the ones in other transmigration stories. I really like how she isn't the typical overpowered assassin, doctor, etc. Or someone with a mastery of non ending skills. She has to rely on herself and adapt to the circumstances, which leads to plenty of hilarious scenes.
