Did anyone here see the anime "Watashi ga Motete Dousunda/Kiss Him, Not Me"?

So, imagine someone describe every second of this anime, and make it into a book.

This novel is a description of a (n) anime, the one which is in author's mind.

The translation is not good. It's like translator MTL-ed and poorly edited it. Sometimes the name of characters change and the style of conversations changes.

I don't know if I drop it or not.

Rating: 4.5 for translating quality; 1 for actual plot. So I guess a...2? Maybe?? Current ratings disgust me though, so I'm giving it a 1.

Read all the released chapters to see if my opinion would change, but nope - definitely opting out of this one.

WARNING: <spoilers> & mature language/content.

... more>> The translation quality is fantastic. The general slang & English colloquialisms are on point. It was the glossed over noncon/dubcon that gave me the heeby-jeebies & ultimately had me marking this series off as a lost cause.

Here's why:

1. She's a virg*n/never even held a man's hand before, & reacts to talk of s*x w fear. Not just hesitation - fear.

2. They don't consumate their marriage the night of when she's unwilling/terrified, but only bc she kicks him in the 'nads (hard enough to incapacitate him) when he tries to force himself on her.

3. The night they do the do, it's still noncon. & it's blatantly presented as a punishment. As in: you screwed up, so I'm screwing you.

4. He r@pes her 7x in one night, which has her looking pale/tired/uncomfortable the next morning. This is funny. She's in pain and she can't walk w/o support. Haha.

5. As the story continues, she balks at every advance made by him in daily life & tries to avoid sleeping with him whenever/however she can. The next time he r@pes her, she attempts to kick him in the jewels again, but he pins her down anyway.

All the misogynistic tropes aside, the FMC isn't much better. She makes 'funny', 'quirky' little plans to drug these other men to offer them up to her h**ny husband, who she believes to be gay.

Of course, this was all served as a lighthearted comedy, bc r@pe can somehow be a joke if presented the right way. & some people are okay with that. Bc it's just a casual work, a light novel. A blip on the internet. Not like it's going to desensitize anyone (๏_๏) or normalize anything. (ಠ‿↼)

I'm not even going to touch the h*mophobia. But-... yeah, no thank you.

TL;DR The lighthearted packaging of such dark material is disturbing. R@pe is a very real & specific act of violence. I'd much rather this be excruciatingly detailed & explicit than the shallow, morbid mockery it is. R@pe should never be correlated w 'Romance' or 'Comedy', ever. Sorry, bc the translating quality was honestly fabulous, but I'm out.

Quick edit: Anyone who thinks the behavior in this is okay bc it's "Asian" and "part of their culture", or tries to correlate it with anime, k-pop, k-drama, anything "trendy" and East Asian needs to STOP. I'm assuming you're like 12-15, but please reevaluate yourself/your words before you continue proliferating BS. <<less

I'm the translator, so bias.

The novel's great. It has a slow, hilarious start, introducing all the characters, and gradually shifts to become more serious, but is still comedic. Intrigue and whatnot. The writing is fun and creative. It's not absolutely amazing, but it's good and easy to read.

I'm too lazy to spoiler tag (and can't pick which to), so I won't. My favorite part of the story are the characters. My least favorite are the instances of them lifting their eyebrows or narrowing their eyes. I suppose the number of... more>> times they do so is realistic, but it just bugs me when I tl.

Edit: Oof, I forgot to add, the reason why I tagged it parody. This novel takes a lot of potshots at melodramatic palace novels and takes the "gay misunderstanding" trope so popular in cn romances to a whole new level. <<less

This is absolutely funny. Made me laugh like a maniac at times. The MC is specially funny, s*upidly funny and sometimes, outrageously funny. Her interaction with the people around her is really entertaining to watch. This novel instantly moves to my special favorites page.

Edit: Ok, the way she assume things and misunderstand is epic. And the way she inadvertently do things that cause mayhem in one way or another is legendary!

It's a good novel. The ML is a super black-bellied man who likes to see others suffer (in a lighthearted ways usually) but sometimes still lose to the weirdness of his fujoshi wife. The MC is a like-able person. She wasn't really happy but neither was she depressed from being transmigrated into an ancient world with no internet and yaoi p*rn. Instead, she accepted it quite reasonably and decided that if there's no BL here, she'll make a BL world herself! With help from her trusted maidservants, thus starts her... more>> mission of spreading the might of BL to the whole world.....

This novel is mainly lighthearted and comedic, but the author knows how to be serious when the plot needs it to. All the characters have their own distinct differences from each other which makes it very easy to distinguish and which characters are they. And the MC's personality are very lovable, and although her penchant to think about everything in BL lenses is somewhat annoying sometimes, but maybe it's her defense mechanism for being transmigrated to an unknown world. The translation is also very good. It was very easy reading the translation, and I love how the translators made the translations look very casual but still pretty formal.

Rated for 5 stars for the comedy, plot, and translations. Thank you translator for translating the series! <<less

Fully agree with Kimchee759 - I find the author's use of s*x as a light punishment or joke disgusting. Of course the MC isn't really traumatized by the non-consensual experience but that just makes the choice of events even more confusing. They could have gone with a completely different type of negative but morally acceptable action by the ML and it would have made more logical sense and been funnier than raping the MC and glossing over it.

I also wanted to note that I don't necessarily have a problem with... more>> non-con stories. I just have an issue with this author's writing. Everything else about the story was within my expectations which made it extremely boring: from the setting and plot, to the side characters, and the personalities of the MC and ML. The only possible redeeming feature was the comedic misunderstanding of the MC, which got old for me fast because it was too unrealistic for the MC to be THAT s*upid.

Possibly entertaining if you are willing to follow the author's will and don't feel guilty as a human being for glossing over socially problematic jokes and situations for punchlines that keep being repeated. <<less

OMG. Fluffy. Adorable. Cute. Amazing translations.

This is a great novel that leaves you rolling on the floor laughing. The female lead is hilarious, her misunderstands are absolutely amazing. Don't be placed off by the fujoshi thing before you read, you'd be surprised!! Just try it!!!!!! The male lead is also funny, but sometimes, he's just like a scapegoat for the humor XDDD. Thank you for the translation!

Well written, translated, and hilariously funny unless you read into the deeper implications of their relationship. If "trigger warning" is actually a warning for you, skip this one because the disconnect between the tone and the actions will probably ruin your day.

So starting off, let's get it out there, the MC is r*ped. Often. She even says it herself. "Violated." And I am not normally okay with r*pe as a comedic prop.

BUT, here is why I still enjoy this story as of ch 13.

So far, the tone is completely light hearted, silly fun with a racy thrill. I can definitely see it being made into a comedy romance anime. There's not a single serious anything anywhere except to serve as comedic foil. The MC's objections and reactions are more along the lines of being pursued by an over enthusiastic Saint Bernard than a woman who has actually been violated.

If the tone ever becomes serious, I'd have to revaluate. (In the same way that Tom & Jerry cartoons might stop being comedic if they show the horrible 3rd degree burns Tom suffers when Jerry irons his tail.)

Add to that the way the incidents aren't described in lascivious detail, and I feel that 1) they aren't some misogynistic hate fantasy of the writer and 2) they aren't that important to the story. They could easily be swapped out with her being turned into the insomniac bishie's unwilling teddy bear for the same effect.

Hilarious. How can you not read something with a premise as promising as this? This story reminds me of a lot of Japanese manga... it has a similar pace and rhythm and outlandishness that C-novels seem to shy from. Well, at least the C-novels that I've read... I also probably just really enjoy this because the translator did a really damned good job. They have good updated lingo that might be the English equivalents for whatever the Chinese was.

Read for a good hour's laugh!!!

So, the MC is a fujoshi who transmigrated. She has no intelligence to speak of, no common awareness to speak of and is all in all extremely s*upid, like really really s*upid and not cute at all. I get the author tries (very hard) to create a romantic gag novel, but I'd say it's a failure. The novel is cringeworthy though, if you like that sort of feeling where your toes curl involuntarily.

Great parody hilarious novel that make you laugh with MC silly words. This is one of best comedy novel. I like all chapters they make me laugh a lot.

i enjoying reading this novel. I strong recommend you guys to read this fun novel. It's hilarious novel.

Good story, hilarious, funny parody novel that make you laugh. Haha silly MC is to funny I like her personalty. I wanted more chapters but chapters are so slow update. I enjoying this hilarious story. I am glad translator pickup this fun novel.

Absolutely fantastic! There are some great zingers in here. I really enjoyed reading it aloud. The MC's dialogue and thoughts are golden nuggets of hilarity. I'm so glad the story translation got picked up again. ?

OMFG~ She's literay the biggest fan of BL, if you have an addiction like kpop or kdrama, you will understand our MC. She's so fudging silly, she literally has no common sense and develops crazy outcomes out of nowhere, but that's what makes it fun. It's a light read so far, I already love her interaction with not just the ML but his crazy gang of friends who like to tease our precious MC too.

It’s a very good read. One of the funniest novels out there. I absolutely adore the MC and her shenanigans. She may not be strong but she can hold her ground in her own way. She’s silly but not s*upid and absolutely hilarious.I love her group of girls and the love stories of each of them.

However, I have some reservations about the ML. He’s loyal but that’s the most basic a ML in my good list should be. He is way too domineering. I’m not talking about him as an... more>> emperor but him as a husband. He loves tormenting the FL way too much and often treats her like a child. He cheats the FL into doing stuff for him. I also slightly dislike their first born. He really looks down on his mother. No matter what he should have borderline respect for her which he lacks. When

I really wanted to go in there and whoop him. Even for comedy, the baby boy is going to be the next emperor so if he doesn’t treat his mother with respect now who knows what he’ll do in the future.

I didnt really expect much when reading this but OHMYGOD my stomach is hurting because of too much laughter. I literally lol at every chapter! I think this is the best comedy novel Ive found here in NU!

If you like to try and read this, i'd suggest losing your common sense and just enjoy the gag. As another reviewer have said, if you are offended with noncon/dubcon, homophobic gags then you might really need to avoid this or you'd just get frustrated.

Id recommend this to anyone who... more>> just want to laugh and wont take things to seriously. <<less

Hilarious novel that make you laugh so much. With MC silly personalty, story become more hilrious and interesting. I like her interact between characters. I like how naive she is. She remind me of MC from my disciple die yet again.
