Thank you Yunyun, this was a really great read and I got very attached indeed. Waiting for the last chapters to be released day by day was so frustrating lol I wanted to binge!

Warning to the wise, there is a pet death (of old age!) that had me truly sobbing. If that's something you're sensitive to, time your reading of that section appropriately. The cat named Ribs is a 17 year old grumpy calico, and you will know when it's coming up, it's not sudden.

Somehow the descriptions of human torture,... more>> violence, maggots etc, didn't bother me though. Brains are strange things, huh?

This novel was very.... fluffy? Like, as opposed to being sexy. Almost bucolic at times. Not p*rny, sadly. Really not what you'd expect from the beginning. But, it was nice to see Wencheng able to move on.

I started this after Rebirth: Different Way, but honestly I think that read wasn't as satisfying and was way more emotionally torturous, even though this one started off on a nastier note. It was refreshing to not spend much time on the family dogblood, rather the economic circumstances that quickly concluded and then the true family which was wonderful.

I also liked that Wencheng didn't have his seizures or 10% bonus at the end, so it was the beginning of him having a truly normal life.

Initially I started to read this for the revenge plot which to be honest was kind off disappointed if I had to be honest. However, I stayed for MC's and Ml's relationship.

I stayed up past midnight to binge read this and I do not regret a thing. It's currently 1.40 am as I'm writing this with eyes that sting from crying and a headache that's killing me.

When I started reading this, I had no idea how the MC's personality was going to be like as the summary didn't give us... more>> any I sight how on he'd behave. However, I'm quite fond of his personality and how he's written. He behaves in a way that's neither too mature nor childish and honestly I love that. It was a nice balance to see in this novel.

In the beginning, the ML just made me go what the f*ck? Because who gives someone on the streets cat food??? It took time for me to like him. While he was really nice and caring to the MC, I couldn't really trust him because I didn't know much about the guy. I had conflicting feelings about him midway through reading, I didn't know whether to curse him out or support his decisions. In the end however, I cane to really like him. I love how he shows his affections for MC. They're so cute, I hate them so much I cried all night long because of them☹️.

The plot while a bit plain at first totally got me hooked once MC had ML backing him up. There was a point where I got so much backlash from the non stop drama where I stormed out of my room laughing like a madman. I seriously didn't know whether to cry or laugh. Considering the length of the novel everything is concluded nicely and while I'm somewhat unsatisfied, I'm pretty sure I'd be complaining if it were any longer lol.

So to sum it up, pls read for an emotional rollercoaster 🤗 <<less

I feel full after reading this novel it tickled all my sweet spots it had a bit of everything but didn't feel like it jumbled together forcefully there was angst, fluff sad ending, happy ending, regret, revenge (not too focused on the later part of the story) and more things that I absolutely love

The rest was already mentioned by the other readers so I won't delve into those bits much

Green flags all the way! Kowtowing to the author-laoshi for the beautiful story and translator-laoshi for the grammatically translated chapters (all of them). Can't wait for more stories from author-laoshi and more translation from translator-laoshi!

It took me less than a day and a half to read it and I enjoyed every moment of it. Normally, I wish a book was shorter but here I wouldn't mind a few more extras. Even though all my questions were answered, I would like to see more sweetness between the MC and the ML.

I seem to be in the minority who liked the second half of the story better than the first. The revenge/face-slapping plot was fun but there are many face-slapping novels. What makes this one different... more>> is the heartbreaking events in the second half. I cried a lot, and I couldn't even hate the ML because I couldn't say he was wrong, and it made me feel even more frustrated. I almost felt I would prefer if it ended in tragedy.

But all my mixed feelings for the ML were completely dispelled when I read the first extra. The MC was not the only one who suffered in the previous life, the ML suffered so much too. My only regret is... I would like Ribs to be reborn too, this girl owns my heart.

This is a really high quality novel and translation. I read it in two days with a break for work. There were times where I laughed and times where I almost cried. I amost rated this a 5 star until near the end.

As someone else said, it feels like the ML only likes the idea of MC. ML's love felt a bit cheap imo. I understand the reasoning behind the author's choice, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it. It felt like climbing a mountain to get to the beautiful scenery at the top, only to get there and realize there's another mountain blocking your view. The extras did help round out the emotions and smooth out the feelings, but it still feels like a bittersweet romance. These are all reasons why I would say actual rating is 4.5 stars. <<less

Warning: set enough time aside, the story has a stronger suction force than a black hole. Tissues are also required, story is highly likely to stimulate your tear glands

Hooooo, boy. My emotions are a wreck. This was a masterpiece.

The premise was quite cliché, unjustly tortured protagonist gets a chance to regress to make up for his regret and exact revenge, possibly by clinging to a big thigh, against his tr*sh family.

But it was so much more than that. The thrill and suspense definitely took me by surprise, while both my... more>> heart and mind were already fully occupied by the protagonist's love life struggles.

The leads communicated their emotions so well!! Both to each other and through the narrative! You rarely see any transparent vocalisation of their inner thoughts, opinions and impressions of each other (maybe only from one side, through a one sided narration) but rarely ever this well from both sides.

It's so rare to see a ML who is already devoted to someone else! ML had such a hard time getting over his first love and MC was struggling to stay strong around him. That kind of melodramatic love relationship is to die for (to read, not to experience ofc...). Novels these days really lack this kind of mood. Tailor made love for one another at the first glance is soo boring. Inevitably this also falls under the same type but it left the reader some room for doubt which is important.

If you like a pure revenge book (but not the faceslappy kind) , good romance and a sprinkle or angst, this is definitely for you (extra emphasis on the sprinkle of angst).

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The plot was good, logical and well developed (though I low-key think that the crazy researcher part wasn't really necessary but meh it adds to the tragedy). But the best part about the novel is the romance.

I'm not the most into too fluffy stuff and what I got here is prime romance that... more>> I enjoy. It was a I don't like you but I'll use you thing then a I'm slowly falling in love with you but you have a white moonlight thing and then a I'm leaving you if you cant let go thing. It wasn't draggy (I hate it when the authors drag it out and it becomes repetitive and boring) and every move the MC made was very decisive. I had a few teary-eye moments and I absolutely loved it!! I wouldn't say that the relationship development was the most comprehensive but the overall way the romance was written was just something I really really enjoyed.

The MC himself is a dark hearted person (from all the abuse and torture he has been through) who is pure at the same time. I have no idea how the author manged to churn out this character but I still enjoyed it. He's also a film emperor too coz he is really able to act and hide his feelings man. He falls for the ML quite quickly because the ML... Wells he is sweet, caring, loyal and just too lovable.

I also liked how the author explained how the MC can have no lingering feelings towards his family. Other revenge stories be like they treat me like sh*t so revenge it is which is totally understandable but unless you're some cold blooded monster you will tend to have some softhearted moments regardless, right...? But the author covered this part which was quite good.

Because the novel is quite short, the revenge plots itself is quite fast paced. It wasn't very faceslappy or satisfying (because it wasn't faceslappy hehehehe) but everyone who did the MC wrong had a bad end which is jail time and then some. The revenge was just the MC using the ML to dig up dirt on the family and sending them off to jail (and some of them got beat up before it). That's about it.

Also, a lot of characters are quite shallow and 2D especially the MC's family. Like they are the I hate hate hate, I'm power hungry and I'm low-key crazy. Not much going on there.

But, the storyline of how the MC was treated in his past life was just so tragic and I absolutely loved it! The author was good at inserting the narration of those moments! And the extra... The extra was the best!! The best and the plot twist was included here too! It gives me so much closure!

Overall, if you want something a wee bit angsty, some revenge story with a well written (ish) romance and somewhat of a plot (which contributes to the romance tbh), this is a good one for you to try! <<less

Great translation quality! Initially this novel felt like it was going to be the same old cliche rebirth story and amnesia about being childhood best friends, but it's much deeper than that. The characterizations are excellent and the plot is gripping and makes your emotions go up and down in a good way. Would recommend giving this a chance!

Omg so much angst but they are all so well written. I feel so so so distresses for the MC. His character growth and his emotional journey are hopeful yet realistic that my heart hurts for him. ML is a stoic and keep to his principles, can't hate him.

It's one of the best of this type of story. Definitely goes into my re-read list despite the journey make me shed tears and this meant a lot since i've been avoiding emotional draining story.

I love this story so much. To be honest, it was completely different from what I had expected. I thought that this would be a typical story about revenge, but in reality, it was much more than that. Yes, there was revenge, but it was also tragic, heartbreaking, and, at the same time, romantic. (By the way, it has a happy ending.) At the beginning, the story is focused on MC's rebirth and his revenge, but then it takes an unexpected turn. There were a lot of plot twists; the... more>> story was brilliantly written; I couldn't put it down. I was pleasantly surprised.

It is truly a beautiful story, but it is also quite dark. In most novels about revenge, MC is trying to snatch company shares or ruin someone's reputation, and the story has a comedic undertone, but in this case, MC truly wanted to kill people who he hated the most. People get bitten, tortured, crippled, or even killed. MC is manipulative and full of hatred, which is understandable since his past life was truly awful and tragic. What I loved most is that MC, despite being darkened, still has good characteristics; even though he is using people, he still feels remorse and struggles. Once, he was a sunny teenager, and despite all the bad things that happened to him, he still has some traits of his old self. That's why it was so heartbreaking to see what happened to him in the later part of the novel. ML is a little bit misterious; he has a bad reputation; he has done bad things, but at the same time, he is faithful, principled, and vulnerable. Both characters are interesting and well-rounded. The author described not only what was done to them but also what they felt, and it was described skillfully. Because of that, the story became more gripping.

At first, I thought that the plot would be focused on revenge. MC indeed avenged himself, but that wasn't the focus of the story. The most important part of the story was the MC and ML relationship and their feelings. As the story continued, I found out that the story had more depth and was quite different from the other stories about rebirth or revenge. I especially liked that there wasn't anything like a gold finger or protagonis halo. MC suffered a lot in order to get what he deserved. This novel has the leitmotif that nothing comes for free in this life and everything has its price. And the higher the reward, the higher the price. What really surprised me was that the system played a big role. It was absent most of the time, but its influence was more important than it seemed at first glance. In most stories, the system is usually used for rebirth or transmigration, and it is unclear what his purpose was, but in this case, even the system's point of view was explained. And the past truly played a big role.

While I was reading the novel, I found a few plot-holes. I thought that maybe the author was inattentive and kept reading because the story was really interesting, but then I found out that I was wrong. The author neatly connected every dot, and what seemed like a mistake had a wonderful explanation. The story is amazing; I felt so many emotions while reading it. It has many small details that make the story more heartfelt. I loved it and would recommend it. The translation is brilliant, which makes the story more worth reading. I loved the translator's notes too. <<less

A solid 5 out of 5!

It's been a while since I wrote a review and although it's 1:40 Am and my eyes are almost sore, I feel like I should really leave a review.

Honestly, I just started reading only after giving a glance at the summary, so imagine my surprise when a System popped out but what a great work!

Hats off to the author and lots of love for the translator. So many good novels are ruined by inexperienced translators and I'm so, so glad this novel caught my eyes.... more>> Really got me hooked that I'm now regretting finishing it too early.

The characters were well written, the plot was fresh and it was neither too long nor too short. Though it could be a little confusing for first time readers of such System novels, this is definitely worthy enough to give all your attention.

I forgot Ribs! My poor Ribs! 100/5 for you! Plus, those saying that they don't understand the characters or that there wasn't any satisfying faceslapping or that they don't 'understand' why it has a high rating, please try to understand the effort the author has taken to create this story and characters. It takes so much time and energy to sketch out a character alone and not to mention tricky plot lines. There are hundreds of tr*sh novels out there and I have read a few of them, so in all honesty, this is truly a good piece of talent. <<less

Woah! Wat a journey this was! I completed this story in 3 days. Started by day by reading it and ended it the same way. And honestly, it was worth it ❤

I completed it today on 22 May, 2023 (Monday, 10:45 pm).

It's really a surprise tbh, I didn't check the reviews, didn't see tags and just decided to read it. I had this in my reading list, so I figured there must be some reason I added this. I definitely found a gem. This novel was such a roller coaster ride. I totally enjoyed the journey with the MC, ML, and their endearing cat Ribs. The author did such a great job with tying loose ends and the efforts exerted to make this a novel worth reading showed in every chapter. The MC's resoursefulness, conviction and revenge were engaging. On the other hand, the ML's dedication and love totally made this novel highly enjoyable. Last but not the least, the translator did an awesome job!!

I never expected that this novel would be this great. I didn't expect too much when I first read it. But the way the author writes this is so detailed. When sometimes I thought that there was something missing in the story, I'd eventually find it in the next chapter (s). There's always a reason for each scene in the novel.

So yeah, this novel is really worth my time.

The story has a similar premise as Rebirth: Different Way (MC is reborn and gets revenge on his shitty family with the help of golden thigh ML), but overall I like this story more. The main characters are likeable and have interesting backstories + cool plot twists. I got pretty hooked and read it in a day or two. I’m personally not 100% fan of the ending, although it’s a HE it left a bitter taste in my mouth (I guess you could call it bittersweet).

Still an amazing read and... more>> I’d really recommend it :) <<less

Amazing!!! If you're looking for a novel where the MC isn't a dainty little thing and is a mentally strong MC that is willing to manipulate, this is the book for you!

Originally, I thought there would be more of a revenge plot, but most of the story is centered around the MC and the ML, and their romance.

The revenge plots are not as complicated as I would like, but that's okay, the romance makes up for it.

The second half of the novel, or what feels like the second half of... more>> the novel, feels a bit forced, but I understand that the author was looking to show that the love between MC and ML, in a normal circumstance, would still be able to grow.

Thank you also to the translator, I really liked your thoughts at the end of the chapters. It really opened my eyes to the the nuances the author was trying to convey. <<less

the story is well plot out and there really isn't any loose end. Both the MC and ML are very likeable too. I ended up finishing the entire story within a day hehe :>

This story left an indescribable taste - a bit nostalgic, a bit hopeful, a bit bittersweet. I almost didn't think the face slapping was hard enough (usually I think the author goes overboard) and the romance wasn't quite sweet enough (usually we're drowned in sugar to the point of numbness).

But everything just works well in the story. The characters, the connections, the twists. While my kinky side wishes there was unspeakable rules in this story, it actually works really well with the characters the way the author writes the cause... more>> and effect of the pampering.

After reading this story, I'm infused with hope again. There are rewards to helping others, and (sometimes good) ripple effects to every good act, and love that can patiently wait without distraction. What a warm feeling. What a wonderful thought. <<less
