Jiang Shuyao transmigrated and became a vicious lady with a flamboyant appearance and gaudy clothes. She married the most charming young man in the capital by relying on a scheme.

The husband disliked her, mother-in-law loathed her, brother-in-law despised her, Jiang Shuyao wanted to cry without tears.

However, there is nothing in the world that cannot be solved by a hot and spicy meal. If there is, then add hot pot, iron plate barbecue, skewers, milk tea, grilled chicken wings, custard wrap, shrimp dumplings, fried chicken, hot and sour noodles, curry rice, hand cake, fish cake stew, mashed potatoes, preserved eggs, lean meat porridge, and shrimp porridge.

After a period of time:

Picky mother-in-law: Shuyao is indeed a filial child.

Sisters-in-law: Younger sister-in-law is really cute.

Stern eldest brother-in-law and second-brother-in-law: Hard work, sister-in-law.

……

Looking at the people who have been defeated because of food, Xie Xun hates the iron for not becoming steel. Jiang Shuyao’s mind is very cruel and bad, I will… definitely not eat it… so fragrant!

Sincerely enjoy reading the relationship and daily interactions between Xie Bo Yuan and Jiang Shu Yao.

Their love really starts from blank as Jiang Shu Yao is not the original body owner & she transmigrated to this era. Their love develops from their daily interactions and mutual understanding. Xie Bo Yuan and Jiang Shu Yao are truly a loving couple.

The food stuff (especially the pictures provided by the translator, Serena Tan) in this novel is really interesting.

A very endearing male lead, it got a bit like too descriptive at times but it took a nuanced look at all of its characters that made you care about them and see their journey till the end.

The story is good it reminds me some of the chinese novel I had read like the heartbeat at the tip of the tongue, bai fu mei in 70's and transmigrator meets reincarnator with similar story talking about food but less drama. I really enjoyed reading this novel because I'm a foodie myself and I learned some food of other nation, wanting to try it😋

Overall I would give 3⭐ for this novel but 1 extra ⭐ for my favorite ML xie xun for being so cute and lovable throughout the entire read🥰.

If you love food then you may like this novel. Food description is very detailed and almost 90% of chapters are about different food making process. Initially I was hooked by different foods and it was interesting to see ML falling in love with FL and how he bragged about his wife's food with his colleagues. But I really got bored because... more>> it's all about food with a little romantic scene between main couple. I finally came back to complete this book after reading other 2 historical novels because I really can't leave it unfinished. The only thing that compelled me to come back is our cute and pure ml. He is seriously the cutest and purest ML among the mls of historical novels. There's no drama and scheming bit*h plot but very simple story with all about food and slow romance. If you love this novel than you can check another similar novel with lots of food but with little more deeper plot and story called "transmigrator meet reincarnator ".

Also I would like to thank the Translator for your hard work and posting videos and photos of foods in every chapters. It was really helpful. <<less

I give this 5 ⭐. It is a good novel for me. No heavy drama and lots of food from China. I love how detailed the author describes the food. It makes me feel hungry while reading and there's also videos of the foods so really it can make you salivate. Basically the story tells us that food conquers all. I don't have any problem with the plot and characters. So overall, I enjoyed reading and one thing I got from this book is to enjoy life not to become... more>> a boring person. I don't want to be someone like old madam who was bound by the rules. <<less

Normally I often forgot meal times whenever I read something enjoyable such as this. But, this..

This is way worse than fields of gold & the feast that I can't help but kept wanting to munch when reading.

From the MC passionate pursuit of good food to the adorable side chars. Love the laid back plot as much as fields of gold.

I just noticed the plot summary is completely off the mark.

The FL is a food blogger who transmigrated as Jiang Shuyao, who schemed to trap the ML Xie Xun into marriage. The first one who experienced her cooking was the husband, and the mother-in-law is the last one in the family who appreciated her skills.

After marriage, the husband completely ignored her, her in-laws don't like her, and she's a complete joke in the capital. But this doesn't stop her from enjoying her food. At first her husband got tempted and... more>> gave her more attention because of her cooking, but it developed into love because of her caring nature.

The romance is so very slow because these 2 have very low EQ, but what I like about their relationship is the comfort and trust they have for each other. After marriage, they became friends first, one who enjoys cooking and the other enjoys eating. They are very comfortable and sincere with each other. I also like their food adventures like sneaking into the mansion's main kitchen to cook and sneaking to the roof to eat. Everyone expected them to get divorced later but their relationship is slowly built on trust and love of food. Eventhough there are lots of rules in that era, Xie Xun supports her to do what she's happy doing and accompanies her to go outside.

Okay, don't read this for the romance. Read it for the food p*rn. The translator did a really good job, supporting the story with pics and some videos to show the food mentioned in the story. There's not much drama and face-slapping but I think it's a really good story worth reading again

I just wanna add... the ML is so cute. He's so innocent and so easy to please. The reason why the romance is so slow is also because they're both innocent and so young. Although the author did not specify their exact age, it's mentioned that they are both teenagers. <<less

Warning! Slow romance, cute relationship, annoying ML at the beginning of the story.

This novel should not be read in the middle of the night! It will trigger serious case of hunger and uncontrollable drooling.

The foods are well described to the point that you can picture it with your own imagination even if you have never know it beforehand.

Story was cute and the food descriptions made me extremely hungry. As for the three stars, personally I don't enjoy characters who are so unrestrained in transmigration novels. Mc's aware she stands out but she gives no care to it. Thank goodness she was stuck in a somewhat decent situation because if her family was malicious like other novels, she wouldn't survive past the first few chapters. I get that you can't eat everything elegantly but the discription of her gnawing and sucking on a marrow bone was really off... more>> putting. In addition, I wouldn't say she's a foodie but more food obsessed to the point where she gets punished (closing up her kitchen) but then resorts to stealing food, sneaking around, and finding loopholes. Really sets a bad example for the kids. <<less

I probably gained several pounds during the times I was reading this story.

Every chapter had something new and delicious, and it wasn't limited to just Chinese cuisine. The translator did an excellent job describing the different foods, making them sound mouth-watering.

I highly recommend reading this in bite-sized (hah!) amounts where you can take time to enjoy your own food and read the food that they are enjoying.

... more>> A novel that is definitely lethal to foodies.

I really enjoyed the lack of melodrama and how reasonable everyone was. Even the old stick-in-the-mud grandma gets some character development.

Overall an excellent food-oriented story that delivers on its promise of really focusing on the food and restaurants and improving quality of life instead of on pettiness, jealousy, backstabbing random sh*t that usually clutters up these types of novels.

Translation was overall not bad, just could use a proofreader or grammar person.

Spoiler

Granny's obsession with "the rules" could be better translated as "propriety." It's more of that old-styled ettiquette, how people should behave to exhibit their class, not some kind of rule-book that she's quoting from.
