On the way to a company workshop, we fell into a world of immortal cultivators while still in the car.

Those with spiritual roots and unique abilities were all called to join cultivation sects, living prosperously.

But I, having neither spiritual roots nor special abilities, lived as an ordinary mortal for 50 years, complying with fate until my death.

That’s what I thought.

Until I regressed.

In my opinion, this is a very good novel and the translation is also high quality, at least significantly higher than those almost mtl in some others.

There are some points that make me not give it 5 star, but it is more of a concern rather than a real 'this is bad', at least imo.
    • It is very long, in the meaning that even though it's not exactly a filler and there are connections and plot points in the chapter, it is hardly rewarding, especially in the first few arcs. I personally enjoy these details and think it helps me feel more immerse in the story but it is true that for the first few arcs it feel like nothing actually progressing (since he regress). The feeling of futility of the reader resonates well with the feeling of futility of the character, but if you grit your teeth through it you'll eventually get rewarded. But yeah it's quite a long way till there.
    • Most of the details of the cultivation system is boring and doesn't really mean anything (as of chapter 135), other than the names and the characteristics of the realm. What I'm talking about is like several info dumps of especially names of things to do to advance through small realms and such, this also include the names of most of the martial arts techniques, I swear I can only remember at most 6 from 24 even though they keep coming up and half of them I won't even know what they do.
    • My main point of concern about how long will the story drag on with how untalented our MC is and how there are so many god damn realms that we got a glimpse on, simply a concern that the story will simply won't end (burn out and go into eternal hiatus) or got cut short (something like suddenly MC skip bunches of realms and quickly conclude story)
All in all I find it enjoyable and I personally wouldn't mind give it 5 star if it maintain the current quality.

Tldr

Good story but

    • The first few arcs are painfully slow and unrewarding, possibly make it hard for readers to endure through them
    • There are times when names, details and info dump with at least 70% of them doesn't really mean anything
    • Concern if it'll even end properly because of how long it seems like it going to be

The writing is really good, and each regression builds up to and ends with a high point, but I don't really like the MC. Sure, he works hard, but he pretty much spends all his time just brute force learning what other people teach him and doesn't seem to have any ideas of his own. I guess that comes from the fact he's meant to be untalented, but it's boring to read about someone following the same path everyone else has, just at a slower pace.

In theory, describing the beginning of each return sounds good, but it gets somewhat tiring after the third, even if it is only 1 chapter. The beginning parts of the story are frustrating as our protagonist is dumb (unaware of the world, even after returning a few times, he should've learned a lot of this by the 2nd turn, but he just didnt for plot reasons) and he's pitifully weak, which I find stressful just to read.

Personally, really doesn't fit my liking, and makes me want to punch the protagonist... more>> for being just so damn weak and untalented, and an ant, and weak as shit, and everything under the sun. It's not a cale henituse type of weak, he is stressfully/painfully weak. He learns all of these side skills, but they don't mean anything.

This story is great for me when I don't want to think too hard. <<less

This aint a review but rather a way to express my surprise at seeing this novel, out of nowhere, taking the first place in weekly activity rankings. Coupled with the lack of negative reviews about it, what can I say, you got my interest. So, lets dig in, shall we?

Edit: 25 chapters later, yes, it really deserves the positive reviews it has. If it wasnt for having work tomorrow, I would have binged it till the current translated chapter, without sleep or anything else, for sure. Since the other... more>> aforementioned reviews do a way better job at describing and rating fhe novel, whats left for me to say is stop reading further reviews and just try it yourselves. <<less

More than just regression and xianxia, give it a chance if youre a cynic of either.
The relationships that the MC develops are very real and their presence is felt long after their parts are done.
The xianxia setting is easily understandable and its unfolding as the story progresses is very immersive; the story's buildup to heights of achievements feels very rewarding, you can get a picture of the goals that lie ahead from the beginning and the way regression is written really make this novel so good.
Some really well written elements are

With the very fast translation team, I look forward to how this novel continues.

If you like struggling MC this is for you. I find it's always entertaining when MC flounder like a fish on land and this MC provide ample entertainment. As until ch223 there's still plenty of problems and foes MC has to go through and so many stages yet until he becomes the toppest dog so I'm hoping for the best. There's so many novel I already dropped when MC became OP hopefully this one will retain my interest until at least the third act.

This is a reaaaally good cultivation novel. The author has injected a level of emotion that I've never seen in a cultivation novel before.

It has all of the cultivation mumbo-jumbo, multiple power types, and lots of fights (Fights pick up as the MC progresses in power. There are relatively few fights in the first 50 or so chapters). He has little natural talent, and his powers increase at an almost glacial pace at times.

A major focus is on the MC's relationship with the people around him, from the perspective of... more>> someone that is basically forced to live in a different reality than the people around him <<less

This is an excellent tale of cultivation.

How so? Cultivation is a means to an end. The main character knows this and never forgets. Much of what he goes through is a direct extension of this knowledge and heartfelt belief. To this point: He stays uniquely "human".

Beyond this, the world building and the power system is always astounding. Everytime you might think -the main character might think- that you know things, those things end up being simple surface reflections of the reality.

Perhaps at a certain point this may become tiresome to... more>> the reader. But part of me wonders how much more tiresome it is to be the main character.

A fair warning to those who may find the following irksome: There is a... somewhat? harem?

However, I can promise that to the point I have read this novel, at not one point does the main character betray a woman he loves for another. For me to debate the details here would constitute spoilers, and I refuse to do so as I believe that this novel does not deserve to be spoiled. <<less

I'll be honest the first 50 or so chapters was a slog. I sympathized with the desolate situation our protagonist found himself in but it wasn't particularly engaging seeing his constant self depreciation. Around chapter 100, however, the novel shines. It showed me an emotional tale that I haven't seen another korean novel even come close to. This novel just works. Despite me not enjoying time travel/regression stories very much this novel makes the idea soar as an absolutely beautiful story. Highly recommend.

The novel started off strong but sadly our MC becomes a version of Mary Sue character where he just happens to gain skill with the pretext of multiple years passing by. They just mention that he somehow got the knowledge of medicine, information gathering, assassination and ‘face manipulation’ techniques due to years of experience but somehow can’t make the bare minimum progress in learning martial arts?

Also, since we brush through all the years of experience, I kind of felt disconnected from the emotions that the MC feels because I only... more>> the surface level info told to me that the learned a new skill in ‘n’ number of years. No built up, reasoning or motivation for learning the skill is given. Also as the story progresses, I feel more distant from the story. It feels more like a summary of the MC’s regression turns until we reach the very end of the regression cycle.

I am dropping this for now and will come back if I have nothing else to read. <<less

I found reading it totally annoying and frustrating.

The plot oscillates between grotesk and farcical with nonsense between. Honestly, I was puking each time the MC after reviving dutifully feeds one of his hands to the big bad fox that happens to be around.

So basically switch off logic and read disregarding words overflow.

And then... then you land face first in fat cliche swamp and the big one: the big bad cultivators, oh horror, prepare their pills from harvesting ordinary people...

Really?

Caution for readers!

Here is a *personal* tip to read this Looper novel....

Skip the repeated info.

... more>> I found author liking to dramatize *which is not bad* at some scenes and repeat the 'move name' or 'technique name' over and over at some point, so I just skip those, also those *overly worded* enlightenment, as I am just layman in "flowerly" expression, I found those enlightenment longer than 10 lines of poem lost the meaning as I can't find myself entranced by the wordings.. :v

The story premise is quite good, but at some point you'll feel MC kinda cringe too hard *just me*, if you can survive that until later half of the current ARC then you'll find some interesting scenes till the end of that ARC. <<less

Good story! More philosophical than I thought it will be but I don't dislike that, feels similar to some old school cultivation novels with lots of enlightenment and training of inner self. I like it and I am curious how it's gonna play out for our MC.

So far i've read 12 chapters, I will update my review every 50 chapters.

The MC and 6 other co-workers were transmigrated to a Xianxia and on the first chapter it jumps to the MC already 50 years living in the world dying of old age. Then time goes back 50- years when he and his co-workers transmigrate to the world. The MC is very weak and has no talent in martial arts or cultivation but the 6 other people have talents and were either taken by cultivators as disciples or... more>> left him to grow stronger.

The chapters so far are him growing very slowly in strength then dying of old age and restarting all over but he still has knowledge of martial arts or skills and its easier for him to catch up to his strength he had when he did. He doesnt get fast,
Spoiler

on his second death he was only a mid second rate martial artist.

[collapse]

As of chapter 12 he is starting his 4th life,

he died as a peak first rate

each life so far he died of old age which is 50 years from when he arrives to the world. He does have a friend, one of the co-workers named Kim, he is the black haired character on the picture. He is s Genius Martial Artist and he helps train the MC.

The chapters are very long, around 10, 000 characters or more each chapter. Their hasn't been any in depth development with other people only the MC, but I feel like once the MC has reached a certain strength then there will be more character development since its still early on in the novel and has tag of romantic subplot.

The story progress is unique and enjoyable, you should read this novel. <<less

It's really good.

The story is relatively easy to follow along and is very fun to see growth in the protagonist and his friend. I would've been fine if it continued to be just the protagonist and his friend with some side characters in between but the Author started to add in side characters with important roles that affect the protagonist and change his character. Quite often is this a hit or miss and is a huge risk that can potentially drag the novel's interest into the mud but holy crap... more>> did he succeed with flying stars. I can't say much without spoiling but in my opinion, the author is really good with creating and expressing personalities that will test your ability to judge human character. <<less

It has been quite some time since I found a gem. This is excellent at so many levels.

1) the pace: at first I was a bit skeptical since I tend to dislike slow paced stories and dread time loops due to repetitiveness. Oh boy, the author is a master of his craft, the pace is perfect to make you feel and relate to the characters and he/she cleverly makes the MC change what he does in every regression.

2) The story: so many stories are so frustrating that you just skip... more>> to get to the end (or the good parts without ever getting there). this is not one of them, the author succeeded at making the journey itself enjoyable instead of reaching the final result.

3) character growth: one of the best I ever read in any novel hands down.

4) the emotional rollercoaster: wow, you can feel what the character go through. This is not a story where the author tells you how the character think/feel... The author makes you get that through what they go through. It's one of the strongest point of the author. The frustration, joy, pain, enlightenment, maturity... You can feel them as you read the story.

5) cultivation and plot: unique take on cultivation and very logical reactions. It's as if the author is trying to explain all the bs and other tropes of xianxia in a way that makes sense without actually explaining. Going against fate, against the heavens, lightening tribulation... In this story everything feels so logically anchored that it's amazing. Plot is very solid since each regression is limited in time (MC lifespan) and as the MC grows he has access to more information and sees thinks from different angles thus extending the story. Also regressions are not repeats, so it's more like a new arc everytime.

I am reviewing at chapter 131, if this remains at the same quality then it will easily become a masterpiece. Do read this! <<less

What is there to say? This novel scratched an itch of mine I didn't even know I had. The MC, building his strength, not with nonsensical powerups and luck, but through sheer, pure and unrelenting effort. He has emotions and the ones around him too. It's beautiful, a beautiful story about an untalented regressor. The world is so interesting and cultivation as well. Even more so Mc's and his closest friend's way of advancing

I know that in am still in the beginning parts of the novel, but it just feels so slow to me. So far, the only two character that have significant roles and names are the MC and one of his transported friend. Even though he is on his 5th cycle, the story has only shown these two significant characters. So, there isn't really much characters it just mostly the MC doing this for decades and making seemingly no progress. I mean like he hasn't even caught up to his friend... more>> in the first cycle. It just feels like the author is dragging it out to show how "hard" the MC is working. Most of the time he doesn't even make progress even after decades of training and instead through this one fight he somehow advances even though he supposedly did this for the last few decades. It just makes no sense. As for character development, I mean it doesn't feel like he developed much,
Spoiler

only in that he is now trying things in risk of dying and trying harder? (Idk y he didn't in the first few cycles even when he had regression Ex. Somehow he never really fought until the thrid or fourth cycle)

[collapse]
I honestly like the story, but I'm frustrated as to why the story is developing in this way. It feels like everthing is just screwing him over for no reason. Even if that is a plot point at least make more connections to the people of the world instead of just "10 Years passed he made no progress" <<less
