The Story of a Man Who Is Reincarnated as the Shi*tiest Guy in a Doujin, but the Heroine Keeps on Coming Close to Him

Description

Suddenly I remembered.

This is the world of the adult manga I had originally read, and that I myself am the one who plays the role of the man who steals the heroine away from the protagonist.

I don’t have that kind of taste, so please let the heroine get along with the protagonist.

That’s what should have happened…

So why the hell are they bothering with me?!

A fun read, and so far a pretty cute love story, even if the MC wants nothing to do with it.

In almost every other reincarnation story I've read where a character at any stage of growth beyond "baby" suddenly remembers their past life, their earlier incarnation's personality always seems to overwrite their current self, which never sits right with me. Our memories are what form the base structure of our personalities, so while suddenly gaining memories of a whole separate person would certainly change you to some extent, unless the... more>> memories of your current self got completely erased it should be more like a mixing of two people rather than a complete overwrite, with perhaps a stronger influence from more recent memories and whichever life was longer.

This novel handles the change particularly well in my opinion. The main character's previous life was a typical harmless japanese person with typical japanese values and morals. His current self (pre-memory recollection) is a tr*shy scumbag character from a doujin he read in his past life that delights in harming others and is willing to resort to r*pe and emotional manipulation to get his way. In combining these two disparate personalities, our new MC is still casual about s*x, aloof, and not averse to conflict if he deems it necessary, but also now views women as people rather than just a s*xual conquest, is cleaner, and has a healthy (er) respect for rules and laws.

If I were to name any gripes I have, the female lead is super easy and starts crushing on the MC hard extremely quickly, but the pace isn't actually unnaturally fast. She starts out disgusted with the MC because of rumors she's heard, transitioning to interest when he shows a kind side by saving her from a pickup artist without any expectations of a reward, and over a dozen chapters that turns into full-blown love as she gets to know him. It's fast, but some people are like that, and from a purely writing standpoint it's skipping a lot of the BS and cutting to the good stuff so it's fine.

Another minor problem is how cautious of the female lead the MC is. It makes sense, considering his knowledge of what he's capable of doing to her clashing with his upright morals, but he's in control of his own actions, he's not the him from the doujin, he's not forced to take any actions that his current self would have any problems with. <<less

Story starts off with an interesting premise but it loses steam a bit half way through. The ideas are there but the execution is a bit lacking.

The female characters all feel like 1 dimensional cardboard cutouts that don't have any real personality. The characters in general don't have anything that makes them stand out and they all feel flat.

The story plot is super shallow and most events are described super monotonously and quickly. It's like the author is just trying to make a checklist for the characters to do and... more>> puts in minimal effort to have them do any activity.

I did somehow finish the whole story but by the last 20-30 chapters I was definitely just skimming to get to the end.

Originally I was going to say this was a 3/5 since I did finish it but now that I've written out my thoughts it's actually a 2/5. <<less

Hey! Put some cover into this shit! Let's have this masterpiece spread wide!

At first I was sceptical, but then my mind blowed away. The MC is a Chad! Gigachad in fact!

From the title you could somehow guess that this would be a waste of time but I suggest y'all give this a try instead.

Here's a short review from me.

This is really wholesome and the MC is such a nice dude however won't hesitate to seduce a woman. Wild but tamed is what I can describe the MC. He's a playboy yet his values as a person is good. His looks are contrasting to his personality but will bite if you provoke him.

The netori (though it's only a one-sided affection from... more>> her childhood friend) is satisfying since it's all about the MC being himself and the FML isn't subjected to any bad things. You might hate the FML's childhood friend tho as he exhibits the typical "I can't believe she's spending time with him, she must've been blackmailed!" But as the story progresses, so do the people within that world. They also grow and develop. <<less

Well, it was so-so.
A fun idea to start on, but ending up going longer than it needed.

If this WN only lasted 1 volume, I’d probably have given it a higher rating, but the author just kept dragging out a story with no foundation to build on.
Frankly, I can more or less forgive the “nonsense” in this story. After all, the setting is literally an NTR manga. Not much character, story or background depth to expect there. So expectable that nearly everything here is about as shallow as a puddle.
At the end of the day, this story is just meant to be some short entertainment you read with your brain turned off. And as that, it did a decent job.

But problem being; after volume 1 the story was pretty much told.
Everything thereafter just felt like p*rn without s*x scenes (the amount of convenient wish-fulfilment sure is... "impressive").
The author trying to take a more or less slice of life-esque approach on the later 2 volumes also didn’t work out given the overall shallowness of the characters. Nor did the forgettable and mostly unnecessary “revival” aspect add much of interest either.

So, yea.

I guess if you aren’t looking for anything deep, might as well give it a try.
Worst case, I’d consider just reading volume 1 (or to about chapter 28) and move on.

It's very good one. Not wasting much time to build relationship but go right at the point. The problem about this is after they start to going out author don't have any other idea to go on. Story will go in circle about MC and his first girl.

Author tried to make this is harem but pretty bad at writing at it. Story focus too much in Shizuna (his first girl) and treat other girls like side character never put much love in them
Spoiler

until last episode he never said 'love' to other girls than Shizuna and I don't know why

[collapse]

still fun to read until end but lack of exciting part

It's a pretty pleasant read although it's not my cup of tea. I like the relationship between the MC and the first heroine. Apparently, there's been complaints about the heroine being too easy, and that's why it's important to remember what world setting of this story is. An NTR manga. That said it definitely has its downside for being boring after awhile, and personally I would rather MC sticks with only 1 girl than a harem. In conclusion, strong start, weak development.

it's quite heartwarming web novel to read.

the conversation is quite simple and normal. Not as deep as other hard themed novel with deep leveled conversation coupled with many layers of intentions. Nor some conversation with "mind reading" tendencies that would ruined the characters actual capability and the flow of conversations. They (the girls) were all understand MC intentions due to the progress of their relationship which is a natural. Some might said it "shitty" because it's not like what irl people with communication prowess and rich social interaction would do,... more>> welp it might indeed be true. But, sometimes simplest conversation shows how deep people connected. Even simple gestures tell more than words can do. So I don't mind.

but, several chapter was indeed shallow. It just happened, and it gives weak presence to other chapters as in the significance from one chapter to each. But it's not disturbed my fun while I read it. So, I consider it as peebles along the road.

the relationship is quite "enviable" for a normies (lol) but it's not something irl can't happen. In short it's not unrealistic (but lot's of it ended up in ashes)

everyone might think that fMC are so easy, due to how easy she fell in love with MC who's showed his honest smile, and they think the whole first encounter is unrealistic. But, judging from fmc's initial personality settings, it actually still reasonable. As we know, fMC existence itself is a load of gap (prim proper lady >< masochistic nature) and have an NTR victim trait (easily mind break) and have initial attraction to MC which is an important parts of this "NTR manga" plot. Thus she would easily touched by a slight gap that MC showed.

As for those gap in MC, it was born due to MC reincarnation, and it's contradicting the whole "NTR manga" setting, but the initial setting/route of MC conquering fMC is still there. So rather than destroying the initial world scenario, MC first action (in chap 1) are just skipping the scenario. Consider it as secret route or MC cheating the system. So by far, MC and fmc's (revised) first encounter is not an unrealistic route.

i like their interactions, and the relationship they build in this WN. It's indeed kind of novel that we can read in our spare time when we need to relax.

do I want to read it again?

i will.

*So. This WN already have manga version, and the mangaka perfectly depict how Ryuichi and FMC might look. But for me P*rn manhwa style might be more fitting for this kind of thing, coz of how this story progress into (seriously. Lol) <<less

Let's start it with that the story is great but not a master piece with that said it is readable and much more realistic than common fluff novels out their, but still, not really 100% realistic, just a more mature take on those kinds of novel.

Just to refute a reviewer that says those that gave 5 stars to this novel probably never had relationships; sucks to be you and where you are from. You're either a.) not handsome, then yes you probably never had girls swooning and falling over you... more>> just because you talked to them or b.) your relationship experiences are very vanilla, nothing to frown about that but, have you ever really lived. Also you clearly never had relationships with teenage virg*ns, those girls are clingy AF, tbh most virg*n girls tend to be though, added to that fact is that he freaking saved the girl, you do know that adrenaline rush has effects on attraction and arousal right? Oh right, you probably don't.

Next issue, friendships of different sexes must have boundaries, you never hug from behind no matter how close you are, that is a very predatory behaviour, unless, you have an established sibling type friendship, or you are part of the LGBTQ+, but even then physical contact must always be consensual; then again, that clearly isn't the case here, the boy has hots for the girl. <<less

Out of all the ones I've read with this premise, this one is the first that I found interesting and engaging.

I particularly really enjoyed the fact that the MC doesn't completely do a 180 of his former self, he's still the same rude and disinterested person, he doesn't want to have a "happy normal school life" as other MCs have done, he doesn't suddenly become a herbivore, he carries the reasons of him being that way on his back and goes right ahead with it.

He just started to become a... more>> bit more humane.

Being a bit kinder, a bit more considerate, but still having his personality be what he is.

Not wanting to cheat, even if you're a womanizer and have multiple partners is something I can relate to, even not wanting to expand his number of partners.

I remember I read one that had the MC turn basically into a beast because of his overwhelming libido, having him appear "dangerous" but it really just felt like a half-baked plot device... on here he haves urges, totally normal urges, and he's assertive and sometimes even pushy about them, but he doesn't go over the line and is totally aware and OK with being that way (s*x isn't evil people, consent is paramount).

He's been living all his life this way, even if he suddenly became aware that this was a NTR story, that doesn't change his personality, it just made him wary of hurting others, and honestly that's probably a more logical next step of someone that suddenly remembers a past life where he read this story, he knows the main adjectives his character had "bastar" "disgusting" "horrible person", of course he doesn't want to become that.

I'll keep reading, but so far it's at least relatable and interesting, I haven't read much but I am liking the portrayal so far, let's see what happens next.

I'll give stars later and probably edit this if things change, but so far I'm liking it. <<less

This is quite possibly the best JP romcom I've read in awhile. It had everything I could have wanted from this kind of story. A main character who acknowledges what he wants as normal and not some "sinful" act and just goes for it. A female lead who isn't totally dominant, but not a pushover either. The other heroines also have personalities of their own, and continue to influence the story, rather than only showing up once every 20 chapters just to remind us that this is a harem story.

The... more>> most significant aspect of this novel for me however, has nothing to with Ryuichi, Shizuna, or any of the other heroines. It pertains to Sohei: Shizuna's childhood friend and the manga's original protagonist. So very common in these stories does this kind of character remain ignorant, possessive, and just all around a total a**hole. This character type usually exists for the singular purpose of acting as a villain to try to stand in the way of the MC and FL's relationship, as well as being a punching bag that we can dunk on. I adore how this author avoided using that trope here.
Spoiler

Sohei actually grows as a person, and can even sincerely congratulate the 2 on their relationship. It seriously makes me want to see him have a happy ending of his own. Of course this novel does still have a character who fills that role, but Akira is just too much of a coward to do anything, so we fortunately don't have to worry about anything happening to Satsuki.

[collapse]

I feel like I've said all I wanted to say. I'd definitely recommend you give this a read. It certainly is 3 or 4 hours well spent. <<less

Well I must say I'm glad that this story isnt actual NTR as that would be distasteful. I honestly feel like this story is getting low reviews for 2 major reasons:

1. The guys reading this have had little to no actual relationship experience during their teen/young adulthood. Most relationships are weightless, and are primarily based of physical attraction, manipulation, and curiosity. Yes the main heroine's love is obsessive but I'd lying if I said I didn't witness this first hand with an ex-female friend of mine when she lost her... more>> v**ginity to my homie. (I warned her but she didnt listen)

2. I think they are forgetting that these are teenagers and young adults who are grasping the world. I was very mature for my age coming up as I watched other ppl's mistakes instead of making them myself. Honestly real life relationships are even more shallow than some of those shown in this novel.

I think its an ok read and if you got an afternoon to blow then give it a quick read. All I gotta say is the protagonist of the H-manga should have said something. <<less

If you're in the mood for a moderately brainless, harem romance, this is a great example. If you don't want any of those things, you'll hate this.

The writing and translation are both decent the whole way through. I think the series probably should have ended after the second volume (the end of volume 1 and 2 are designated within the chapters). The third volume is fine, there's no dip in quality or anything, but also nothing really happens. It's just the protagonist basking in his relationship, the status quo doesn't... more>> change at all, it's just more chapters of payoff. <<less

Reading the reviews I thought he was gonna be an awful guy and be a little caring sometimes. But saying he stayed the same and just got influenced by his hold self is just false. It's more accurate to say his old personality took over but the memories and experiences of the new him stayed. So he didn't rebuke himself or his life he just started appreciating ehat he had more, stopped going out of his way to bother others and stopped any behavior he found distasteful. He didn't go... more>> out of his way to change his reputation but when others were open to actually interact with him he was normal and friendly. He didn't care wether other people's opinion of him changed or nor but they did because he went from a delinquent disturbing others to a guy that minds his business and lives how he sees fit while appreciating the people he likes <<less

For a story about romance, it’s pretty dull. The female MC is insanely clingy and is okay with other girls, her own mother- it gets to the point that the MC literally needs to nothing, and she throws out the L word over and over.

It’s a shallow story because she has no sense of self worth or boundaries. The story is established in such a way that in “canon” she’d be the cruel MC’s s*x s*ave, so now he’s a decent person he’s her god. That’s... not as interesting as... more>> you’d think. He’s messy, she cleans. He sleeps around, she invites them over for dinner. Some call that wholesome, but I call that boring. It’s too easy for him and unexciting.

The other female characters are more interesting and 3-d, but they all have this sage like 1000 emotional iq that baffles me. Lots of women are okay with being the “other girl” but it’s always drama. Here there’s none of that.

Fun story, cheap writing. <<less

Its just decent.

I liked it when it was a bit chaotic, but unfortunately on the later half most of time it would just get its focos on the main heroine and the chapters that were focused on them alone together were just boring most of the time.

One good point that I can think of is how is done the drama with the protagonist and his family. In the other novel of the same author, the one with the Twin sisters, he tried to do some family drama too but there... more>> it just didn't work. <<less

All I can say is that this whole story is much more wholesome than I originally thought it would be. No NTR or drama just a sweet romantic harem story. Though the story or the writing are obviously not the strongest, it fits the premise perfectly imo.

I'm a bit unsure how to score it: 2.5 or 3 stars out of 5.

So this story is a bit of a trope subversion. If you are familiar with the netorare genre, even just slightly after you ended up reading something you didn't realize would end up that way, then you should know the unholy trinity of netorare: the ugly bastard, the fat bastard, and the dark-skinned (tanned) blond delinquent bastard. This is basically a case where the last of the three becomes the protagonist, except he recalls his "last... more>> life" memories (you do have "reincarnated" in the title), and thus netorare is removed from the equation. It's a bit as if the author took some story like that cursed piece of L Shindou or whatever he was called and made it wholesome. If you can call a story with a polygamy tag wholesome, of course.

Overall, this is a fluffy, sugary story similar to The Case About Two Sisters Becoming Extremely Obsessed With Me After I Saved Them. It's okay if you like this sort of stuff, but the author seems to have milked it quite a bit (the story could've ended with 2 volumes, the 3rd volume was kind of superfluous in my opinion). This is part of why my score is a bit low. But let me go through things step by step.

The setting is okay. It's basically parallel world Japan, nothing crazy or supernatural about it. It fits the story, for there is no real reason to have any unnatural elements featured for this kind of plot. Well, if there was one thing I would have misgivings about, it would be MC's strong body that remains strong despite him not working out and not even having a proper diet, even after a year passes.

The plot is okay too. It's a bit innovative due to trope subversion (which isn't anything special per se, but this is the first time I've ever encountered this particular trope being subverted). It's just that, like I said, the third volume was kind of pointless. The story could've ended after some 60 chapters or so, and it'd have been normal. I also don't like the ending a bit, because it doesn't fit the relationship of the MC (hint: polygamy tag). It's not bad, just not suited to the story.

One more thing: to be frank, I'd have liked the plot to be more developed. I'd have liked to see the protagonist have some goals in life n shit. Unfortunately, this is not that kind of story, but since it's short, it can be ignored.

The characters are okay. Other reviewers described them already, so I won't waste my time describing them as well. In general, the protagonist is okay and other characters are okay too, with the main girl being the best girl, the promiscuous girl being surprisingly fine, and some initially annoying characters turning out to be okay as well. There's some character growth involved, and there are some dilemmas and troublesome past to deal with, so while there's no real novel-level depth, there's no 2D-level shallowness, either.

Generally, I recommend for those who like fluffiness and emotional sugar overdose, as long as you aren't turned off by harem. Furthermore, be aware that it isn't really binge material (maybe some people will disagree). It's a novel best read one or several chapters at a time, imo. I don't remember any cliffhangers or other ways that chapters were connected that would make it iffy to stop reading at any given chapter. <<less
