When it came to their feelings, he was always the cruel one.

Ten years, that person stood in front of him and told him that he loved him. However, he would not spare him a glance.

He originally believed that there was enough time between them. They had already wasted ten years. If they continued to waste it, then it would be almost a whole lifetime.

He knew that the other’s obsession with him was too deep. It would have been simply ridiculous for him to let go.

When that person finally let go of him, he had obtained the freedom that he had long since yearned for. However, it was not as sweet as he had imagined.

It was already too late for regrets when he finally understood the implications of that person letting him go.

A light slash, and the once fervent warmth turned into coldness that couldn’t be touched.

He wanted to let out a soft apology, but that wasn’t possible anymore.

He did not know that everything could be so cruel before.

Once upon a time, the longest distance of this world was when I stood right in front of you, but did not realize that I loved you.

First part made me cry a lot and binge so bonus points here. Overall, an ok read though I deducted points as I'm not fond of both ML or MC. They are both quite dumb.

2 things I don't like

1) committing su*cide or other desperate acts out of love is so 'romanticized' in Chinese (asian) culture. Though I don't mind this trope in Chinese dramas/novels if well written, it was somewhat lacking here. Both MC and ML thought too easy about it no matter how the author tried to justify... more>> it.

2) ML physically (even hospitalization) and emotionally abused MC. In BL webnovels I don't mind that, I love a great scum gong story. A good scum gong is hard to come by and should be cherished ;) ! However, what I don't like in general and also in this story is that author tries so hard to 'justify/explain ML's wrongdoings. Sometimes an author use a ML that is nuts etc, but here the explanation offered is that ML

It has a pretty decent plot that was very well written, making it a wonderful read.

The book is mostly the heavy thoughts of the protagonist's spirit which is stuck to his lover and through this paranormal experience, he finally gets to see the true nature of his lover.

Despite the MC being a total douche in the start, he starts to grow on the reader and that's what hooked me on until the end.

Overall, a pretty good read. Not the best, but clearly worth spending some time on.

Amazing translation, first of all.

Warning: from here on out I will divulge some plot details. I will keep them at a minimum, but be warned.

I think I would give this closer to a 4.3, because it made me cry and it is everything the description and tags made me expect it would be plus a little more. The story is from the perspective of the protagonist's spirit which left his body after he committed su*cide. This is established early on, so it's not much of a spoiler. The ML is... more>> honestly scum, but the redemption/angst is very good. For how immature, ungrateful, and foolish the ML acted during his scum years, I feel like the protagonist felt too much guilt himself (he's such a massive softie, but it's his character so I get it). It's nice because the MC isn't a complete white lotus (imo, pretty close to it though), and he doesn't act oblivious, in fact I'd say he magnifies his own flaws slightly too much. This is a HE, though. Personally, I feel like it could have achieved a great, tragic, bittersweet ending without being a HE, but it was still quite satisfying.

Overall, great characters, great plot, and very good ending. Kept me hooked. <<less

You know when a book has so many potentials but it didn’t end like that...

Tbh, I was a bit bored for the first 10 chapters of MC kept saying that he was mad at the torment tbe ML inflicted to him then changed to how he was so worried of ML.
I can relate with the 10-year of pining etc etc, but like make up ur mind?

btw, the brother should set MC to see a psychiatrist soon after he woke up, not letting him seeing ML. And what with that ending? That forgiveness?

As if all those 10-year mean nothing to the MC.

urgh, this one left a bitter taste.

Also what with that moonlight or whoever??? Urghdhd nevermind

The story is good, the characters are complex with good arcs but the thing I found bothering me is the way everyone brushed off the bad actions of the ML because he didn’t know his feeling or whatever, even the ones that don’t like him acknowledge that. I would have liked a character who refutes that statement but I just wished for the MC happiness at that point TT. The story overall is good so I would recommend this to anyone who likes angst stories.

MC really likes to self-deprecate when it's really nothing compared to the abuse he had to deal with from the ML. When the white moonlight finally revealed that he knew all along that ML actually liked MC from the beginning I was seething.. and hiding that secret for all those years and living a lie, it wasn't paradise, was it?

seeing the ML going insane and grovel about MC was satisfying. But when MC saw the self-harm scars in his wrists and got mad because it "ruined" him rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know

Very very angsty. The writing was good but I feel like the relationship between the MC and ML was too unbalanced. The beginning of the story was pretty fresh and unexpected, still very sad and angsty, but unpredictable. Towards the middle and ending you can basically see where the story is leading and that fresh feeling wears off and just ends with us feeling depressed and helpless.

I don’t know how I can rate this novel because this novel is a bit complicated for me.

ML is a f*cking bastard. He clearly knew himself that he fell in love with the MC yet his pride is so high that he refused to admit it. He is abusive that I pity and gloat the MC for his foolishness. It’s better if what MC wish to happen to himself come true. I wanna see ML in pain and regretful. MC deserved it as well, he is too obsessed with the... more>> ML.

ML does not deserve MC and the white moonlight. Just what it is that he has that others don’t have? A good face? An ideal body? Big c*ck? What in the world did he do in his last life to be favored by the heavens? He has not suffered enough.

It’s a happy ending for them, but not for the readers (at least for me). LOL <<less

The story begins with the MC's POV as a ghost and it revolves around his spirit lingering, watching over the ML and his BF

The characters in this story are pitiful (except for ML). To this day, I still can't quite figure what he was thinking. He's not the worst ML yet, but he's definitely not decent either.

I don't blame the BF, he's selfish, sure, but I feel like he's the most realistic character in this story, it shows how selfish human can be. And the fact that he's not entirely evil proves the point. He knew MC wasn't brave enough to confess at the time and took the opportunity to beat him to it, but he didn't deliberately play the weak and pitiful victim card like some other white moonlight out there.

For me, the fault lies on the ML. If he did harbor some feelings towards MC, he wouldn't treat him coldly for TEN FRIGGIN' years.

If some of you tried to argue that he might be disillusioned and disgusted by MC's blackmail, why then would he miss MC and longed for him?

And then came his diary. And oh boy, it didn't help in improving my view of him.

I sobbed my way through this story and used up all of my tissues. This is a really good, tear jerking story with a happy ending. However, I feel like the ML should suffer more and the author wrapped the story up a bit too lightly. Other than that, I loved it!

It is unbearable to read that ML seems so inlove with MC but before c6, they were having s*x with that third person. I feel like I could stab Mr. Lou right now 1200 times so I could release my frustration. He was having s*x while thinking whether he's in love with Xiao Heng!!?

Anyway the story is nice, but ML is such a bastard.

I cried a bucket. My heart was stabbed many times.

The author is to be commended for this great piece. Life is indeed a precious thing that can't be brought back so treasure it.

This is so good that I kept reading from start to end without stopping. The emotions the author wants to convey is greatly felt as you read.

I agree with another review about ML's sudden character change. It was indeed a 180 degrees change but I love it anyway so...

like what one reviewer (May Chong) said, life is worth living.

i was rooting for xiao heng x xia mingxiu tbh, it seems like xia mingxiu is the more sensible one compared to ML.

an okay story, some unsatisfying parts but overall I enjoyed it.

life is worth living everyone!! Even when you feel alone, you are never alone. I learned this lesson a whole lot later than I was supposed to, but nevertheless grateful that I now know.
