__________SUMMARY: The FL, Su Xiaoxiao, lived a salted fish kind of life in modern day China, only working when she has to, and spending most of her time exploring the country in search for new recipes. By some freaky twist of fate, she ends up transmigrating into the body of the educated Su Xiaoxiao from the early 1970s. The original owner of the body had a loving family, and had raised the OG owner to go to college. Unfortunately, this era made it impossible for the OG owner to accomplish this, leading her to go back to the village to be married off as a leftover girl (since she's 24yo). When the FL transmigrated, it just so happened that the ML, Han Cheng, was looking for a stepmother that would be willing to take care of his two children at home. The two click at first sight, and ended up starting a partnership that was less about romance and more about sustainable development — with the FL doing a good job as a stepmother and the ML being a hardworking, and devoted military dad.

___________THOUGHTS: I have to admit, this kind of slow, slice of life story, which focuses more on day to day affairs, is not usually my cup of tea. I prefer stories with more excitement. But! The characters of this novel are charming, and the unique perspective of the culture at the time was enough to keep me interested. I think I could have read this till the end if I hadn't been distracted midway, which says a lot! Anyway, if you're into slice of life stories, this is not bad to read when you're free. I intend to reread this while drawing next time. Or doing chores XD. As for the rating … I didn't get to the halfway point. Yup. I checked, I only read 37% of the original text. Anyway, I read it mostly in MTL (which was surprisingly readable — 70%. Even 80% if you forget about the nicknames of the children, which are a mess LMFAO) so for now I won't be giving it one. If I really had to, it would be around 3-4 stars. <<less

Moving forward ... the FL doesn't really have a goal after being reborn. She had already gotten revenge in her previous life, so her only true desire is to live and live better than before (which is pretty easy with the SYSTEM and the benefits that come with it). Anyway, it's kind of messy. Her motivations and personality are all over the place. Definitely not comprehensive at all. As for the ML, he's a mysterious rich trader from another world who inexplicably provides her with a lot of benefits and then later joins her party after transferring to her world.

THOUGHTS: I now see why the rating for this novel is so low XD. The FL is the cool and powerful type, which is a bit too boring. It's like how ... even if I like to read danmei, the most preferred POV is the Shou rather than the Gong. Mainly because the Gong is usually depicted as overbearing/stoic -- AKA, unapproachable -- and powerful. Anyway, this kind of main POV character is too dull to keep reading about since they can pretty much overcome anything they want. Making all of the conflicts seem purposeless. Of course, that's not to say that Gong POV novels are generally bad. But, in those cases, the author usually balances the dullness of the POV with humor, complex character development, etc. The author of this novel doesn't do anything like that. So all you can do is watch an unapproachable and overly powerful heroine facing so-called "hardships" endlessly.

OVERALL, It's hard to empathize with her, and even more difficult to continue reading the novel for the purpose of seeing her journey/ending. Of course, if you're the type of reader that's in it for that easy-win and the overly powerful heroine kicking ass and taking names, then you'll probably enjoy this novel a lot! OTHERWISE, you can just stick to it because of the setting like I did XD. The worldbuilding for this novel, while a bit messy, was enough to keep me interested for a while. The ML was also a bit interesting at first, but his inexplicable interest in the FL was too convenient, and he's already starting to act like he's in love after their first meeting. It's too bad, BUT, anyway, I gave up. I'll try to reread it again one day. Maybe with lowered expectations, I can enjoy it a bit more. <<less

Maybe because the FL's character was a bit too inconsistent (and she became more and more OP as time went on, making the survival aspect seem meaningless), or maybe it's the lackluster romance development (if the survival aspect became more and more meaningless, the existence of the ML could only be said to be even more meaningless lmfao.) It could also be because the MTL was a bit difficult to understand after a while. SUMMARY: The FL, Fu Erdie, is a very normal 24 year old woman. She spends most of her days in her home, drawing, taking care of her dog, etc. When the zombie apocalypse suddenly arrived (with absolutely no warning whatsoever), she completely fell apart. She has no confidence in surviving through the end times at all, and this sense of inferiority begins to wither away at her vitality. If not for her encountering both fortunate and unfortunate encounters again and again, she might have died early -- which would have led to her missing her very powerful and flexible non-attribute ability (which she at first believed was attributed to the objects in her home rather than to herself).

Then, while exploring her unique ability, the FL will gather members for her base and launch infrastructure building in her community along with the ML (who, as mentioned, is a pretty invisible existence XD. Just a little better than the dog, Ink, who features a lot at first but quickly fades from view once the plants come in).

THOUGHTS: Personally, I didn't think it was that good. But that's because I was tricked to having too-high expectations at first LMFAO. if I went into it not expecting much, I think my tolerance for the little disadvantages that the story has wouldn't be so bad. After all, it still includes the infrastructure and survival elements that I like. It's just that some character development and relationship aspects were handled very clumsily. And, oh, there's also the setting too, which is not only whimsical but is very difficult to understand in MTL (especially during the planning and action moments). ALL IN ALL, not bad. My current impression is not so good, but I intend to take a look at it again another time in the future to see if I enjoy the read more the second time around. <<less

BUT FIRST --- I'll be honest, reading the MTL is a bit miserable, and there were times were I was unsure if the problem lay on the author being whimsical and bad at avoiding plot holes or if it really was just a matter of the language being twisted around because the machine translator wasn't able to make sense of their round-about way of writing. XD. Issues with writing style aside, however, the story is pretty impactful! Don't expect too much in terms of realism. This novel is meant to be sensational. ________SUMMARY: The FL, Mo Chu, is different from most reborn-in-the-apocalypse-protagonists. She doesn't have a magical space, for one xD. She's a healer, but in this universe, healers were not taken very seriously by all other supernatural beings (because they were weak against zombies, and not so precious enough in number to be kept at the palm of their hands). For her first life, she lived as best as she could, going from team to team, and levelling up slowly until she became the widely-acknowledge "Dr. Mo" who was the first Healing Psychic to be able to cure the zombie virus. Unfortunately, her life eventually came to an end on the 6th year of the Apocalypse. Just before it ended, however, she was able to talk to the most infamous villain in the apocalypse (AKA, the ML, Li Chen). The villain not only grieved for her but also confessed to liking her on the spot. The FL is understandably confused. Especially when remembering the first time they met ...

Maybe because she was thinking of that exact moment, when the FL was reborn, she opened her eyes to that scene. It was not even a week after the zombies had turned the world over. She and a bunch of other young people had just escaped from the rock-climbing place they were stuck at for several days -- led by Li Chen, who, at the time, was an ordinary person. Soon, this ordinary Li Chen would be pushed off the car by an old friend, right into a pile of zombies. If the course of fate stayed the same, this would turn him into a big villain. But this time, thinking back to the last moment of her previous life, and remembering all the times she had inexplicably been saved without anyone leaving a name behind, the FL decides to repay back the favor. Not only did she pull the ML back from the zombies, but she also resolutely left him. Starting a new journey from then on along with their later villain friends.

__________THOUGHTS: Good balance of plot and character development. Things were a bit annoying at first (partly because of the MTL and partly because the author has a bad habit of leaving explanations for later -- which is why I wrote such a detailed summary of the initial premise XD). But once the story went full-throttle it became a lot more interesting! Of course, one thing to pay attention to, this is more plot-driven than your general survival-oriented apocalypse novels. The team the FL and ML builds is powerful, and there's not much consideration about the base that they partner up with. So, it's not infrastructure or hoarding based. Usually, I would be very upset about this XD. I love hoarding and infrastructure novels. BUT! This novel is not bad. I liked the characters quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to reading it when it's translated more in the future. For that reason, I've decided to temporarily not give it a rating. Mainly because I truly believe that the score would be greatly affected by the MTL quality ... T.T <<less

Maybe I would have kept reading if the focus was on the FL and ML, their dynamics are unique (they're a perfect pair of innocent mu*derers XD if that makes any sense. One moment, they're as sweet as angels, and the next moment, they're as treacherous or mu*derous as devils.) It's not particularly interesting watching them fall in love, but there's a bit of satisfaction when seeing such a perfect pair fit together. If it were in normal modern times and the circumstances are just right, they could have been a pair of serial killers that killed people in their free time and lived completely average suburban lives the rest of the time — I find that oddly fascinating XD. But even that has its limits.I would definitely want to read it again in the future for the sake of seeing the ending of this pair. But for now, this novel is not what I'm looking for. I went into it with the wrong mentality. Thinking this would be a typical zombie apocalypse survival novel. But it's really nothing like that. It's true that he's perverse, but he's also surprisingly innocent. Innocent enough to ease the FL's discomfort after being thrown into an apocalyptic world. The two make a deal after their official first meeting, and from then on, she became his, and he became hers.(As mentioned, this is less about surviving the apocalypse and more about intrigue. The ML is an experimental subject with existing conflicts with the leaders of the main base. Meanwhile, the original owner of the FL's body is the daughter of a scientist who knows more about the apocalypse than probably anyone else in the world.
