Mo Chu didn’t know until her death in her last life that the villain who made all human beings shudder actually liked her, and he was the one who snatched her back from the hands of death many times.

It’s a pity that she never had the chance to say thank you to him.

Opening her eyes again, she returned to the very beginning, when the weak villain was thrown into the pile of zombies in front of her.

In her previous life, she was too busy to take care of herself and could do nothing. It was not until later that she knew what he had gone through in order to survive.

In this life, she resolutely picked him up from the crowd of zombies.

She said, “Let’s go.”

ـــــــ

When Li Chen was pushed into the group of zombies by his brother, he was full of absurdity and irony. He looked at the people hiding behind the group of zombies mockingly, and closed his eyes in a dull mood.

Then he was held by a hand, and the woman said to him in the sea of corpses and blood: “Let’s go.”

Since then, he never let go of those hands.

ـــــــ

Later, Li Chen asked her: Why did you save me in the first place?

The girl in front of him smiled gently, and said softly: I want to say thank you to you.

Good read! BUT FIRST --- I'll be honest, reading the MTL is a bit miserable, and there were times were I was unsure if the problem lay on the author being whimsical and bad at avoiding plot holes or if it really was just a matter of the language being twisted around because the machine translator wasn't able to make sense of their round-about way of writing. XD. Issues with writing style aside, however, the story is pretty impactful! Don't expect too much in terms of realism. This novel is... more>> meant to be sensational. I mean, it's short, so the author understandably hits all the plot-points head-on most of the time, which is a bit awkward. BUT, at the same time, because of the author's heavy-handedness, the story has a very solid sense of completion -- making you feel very satisfied of the way everything ended.

________

SUMMARY: The FL, Mo Chu, is different from most reborn-in-the-apocalypse-protagonists. She doesn't have a magical space, for one xD. She's a healer, but in this universe, healers were not taken very seriously by all other supernatural beings (because they were weak against zombies, and not so precious enough in number to be kept at the palm of their hands). For her first life, she lived as best as she could, going from team to team, and levelling up slowly until she became the widely-acknowledge "Dr. Mo" who was the first Healing Psychic to be able to cure the zombie virus. Unfortunately, her life eventually came to an end on the 6th year of the Apocalypse. Just before it ended, however, she was able to talk to the most infamous villain in the apocalypse (AKA, the ML, Li Chen). The villain not only grieved for her but also confessed to liking her on the spot. The FL is understandably confused. Especially when remembering the first time they met...

Maybe because she was thinking of that exact moment, when the FL was reborn, she opened her eyes to that scene. It was not even a week after the zombies had turned the world over. She and a bunch of other young people had just escaped from the rock-climbing place they were stuck at for several days -- led by Li Chen, who, at the time, was an ordinary person. Soon, this ordinary Li Chen would be pushed off the car by an old friend, right into a pile of zombies. If the course of fate stayed the same, this would turn him into a big villain. But this time, thinking back to the last moment of her previous life, and remembering all the times she had inexplicably been saved without anyone leaving a name behind, the FL decides to repay back the favor. Not only did she pull the ML back from the zombies, but she also resolutely left him. Starting a new journey from then on along with their later villain friends.

__________

THOUGHTS: Good balance of plot and character development. Things were a bit annoying at first (partly because of the MTL and partly because the author has a bad habit of leaving explanations for later -- which is why I wrote such a detailed summary of the initial premise XD). But once the story went full-throttle it became a lot more interesting! Of course, one thing to pay attention to, this is more plot-driven than your general survival-oriented apocalypse novels. The team the FL and ML builds is powerful, and there's not much consideration about the base that they partner up with. So, it's not infrastructure or hoarding based. Usually, I would be very upset about this XD. I love hoarding and infrastructure novels. BUT! This novel is not bad. I liked the characters quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to reading it when it's translated more in the future. For that reason, I've decided to temporarily not give it a rating. Mainly because I truly believe that the score would be greatly affected by the MTL quality... T.T <<less

The start of the story was interesting to see because it immediately shows what type of person our MC was because by that time her being called 'Doctor Mo' means she has power to get away first.

The relationship on this is like other novels from CN it taken them ages to actually have a name as in being partners/lovers but dont worry we see their understanding of one another from another point of view which is how one seem to always know what the other need.

Most side characters our MC... more>> have memory of so I can't really say if that is good or nah but for me atleast no well... not many brainless fool or cardboard cutout side character have purposely cross our protagonist group, The story is plot heavy and as I said the romance aspect could be felt somewhat but it is by no means the focus of the story.

Spoiler

hahahh I really like how our MC deal with her collecting all the well know villains in her past life

[collapse]

my favorite character is the golden retriever, I truly also like how consistent each characters are to their original self like for example our MC didn't suddenly became a super genius just from rebirth she still forgets about things she overlook because they tried that in her last life and it didn't work forgetting to connect the time difference in between.

Spoiler

wish more animal/plant type mutation has been shown because we know it is possible from our mutant dog side character as well as the plant and little zombie cooperation An An and Lou Lou if I remembered correctly

Not the best plot but also not the worst. For this plot, I would rate it 3 stars if it was longer. And 5 stars, if the characters were not safe all the damn time (they’re very OP).

But it was a quick read and I liked the main characters. I also liked that the characters stayed consistent throughout the entirety of the novel, and that they also consistently showed up. Sometimes, characters sort of disappear into thin air as the novel goes along. But they didn’t and I liked that... more>> about it. There were some bits here and there that didn’t make sense, but pretty minor.

Spoiler

such as ML saying they met before the apocalypse & then completely forgetting about that tidbit during the final chapters

More like 4 stars but I’ll leave it at 5. Not great, nothing special but. FL I liked. She’s not a superpower but a suport ability-healing- sure it can cure the virus when stronger but she has to make it to that stage. She’s smart, capable and level headed. Awesome team captain. As for the ML, he’s there to help and love the FL but has his own backstory that makes him less of an accessory. The book is less about them and more about how they kick zombie ass... more>> and gather all the so called would be villains in a super powered team that will bring changes to save the world. It’s a sort of open ending as their journey is not finished, apocalypse still going strong but the FL and ML get engaged which is sweet and all. Would have read another hundred chapters just because I like how level headed FL is in a crisis (Except for when our ML is too reckless lol).

Not a novel concept, some interesting abilities- especially on her team and her enemies- not a groundbreaking romance, some gritty details at times and some nasty humans popping out but enjoyable if you like a superpowered team leveling cities of zombies and still retaining humanity, with a FL captain that is portrayed as logical and smart in her use of her and others’ abilities. So that’s why 5 stars. Finally a FL that is neither invincible nor a lady in distress. Kudos. <<less

story : 4.5/5
romance: 4.9/5
The romance just side story, not really being the focus.

plot: 4/5
The story is good with quite good building story, but it is not clearly explained how the zombie virus initially occurred or what caused it.
There are also several plot holes which logically are a bit inappropriate if you think about them more clearly. Like:

Spoiler

the villain can conduct human experiments but there is no professional researcher to help him. When all his subordinates died, only he and the twins were left, how did the man continue the experiment and make himself an experimental body, by attaching new legs and arms???? Or because I'm MTL-ed so some sentences are a bit confusing and lack explanation??? Who knows.

[collapse]

Spoiler

It is also said that animals and plants mutate but it is not said that other wild plants mutate and they easily clear land for planting.

I liked that the ML was not particularly more useful to the plot then the MC, because its so common in female centric romance novels that the MC is only competent when the ML is not there then is just the person the ML loves. This book doesn't do that and its refreshing. Other then that point it's pretty much stock standard for its genre so while its a good read and engaging it doesn't exactly grab me and not let go.

It's pretty good, not the best, but good. The ending was a bit abrupt. This novel gives off similar vibe to apocalypse arrival but this one is slightly inferior imo due to the weak writing and plotholes.

There were characters that were basically forgotten despite being mentioned multiple times as important individuals, there's also the problem with one of MC's team member... more>>
Spoiler

the little girl qin qiqi was supposed to be 14 years old, yet the team treat her as if she was 5. Very flawed writing if I might say, I guess the author doesn't really know how certain age group should behave.

[collapse]

The power system wasn't explored very much unlike in apocalypse arrival, and the power upgrade system seems a bit too convenient especially for stronger ability users. Action scenes were also slightly underwhelming, there isn't much difficulties that the team faced, every problems that seemed difficult to solve was solved quite easily in the end, so the hype was for nothing.

Overall I give it 4/5 <<less

"That's it? That's it?!" This is actually my first reaction after I read the ending. I mean, it was somewhat a dissatisfying ending. While the end is sweet and funny, there's a lot of loose threads.
Spoiler

I understand that Boss Jia is the main villain but I really thought that the main conflict should be the zombie virus. So I expected that the ending should be Professor Xie and the others finding the cure to the zombie virus and ending the apocalyptic era. But no, it just ended with Boss Jia and his subordinates dying one after another then Li Chen proposing to Mo Chu. Quite disappointing, I must say.

[collapse]

Also, there's really not much background about any of the characters. All we know is during the apocalypse, neither of them have any family left. There's very little information about the FL and ML like the ML grew up in the orphanage and a 2nd year college student (who knows what his course is), while the FL lost her parents in a car accident way before the apocalypse and is a medical student.

The romance is not bad but kinda forced? I don't know. I mean, I indeed feel a little sweet about them but if we're going back on how they met and how they get together, it just feels that something is missing and illogical. I don't know how to explain it. Nevertheless, it's not bad but not that outstanding either.

The setting is the typical apocalyptic era where people acquired some superpowers and can level up through a zombie's nucleus. But as for how it happened, there's no explanation.

Overall, it's not bad but not that memorable. But I bet it's fine for a fast read. 7.5/10 because there are many loose threads and its open ending.

It's a pretty good read, just don't try to think too logically about the zombies/end of the world/romance/etc stuff. I think the author gave up pretty quickly and just ended things when it could have been longer. But it's a fun read.

The MC gets reborn back to the time when the ML was pushed off a car by his close friend and into a hoard of zombies. In the past life, she was scared and didn't try to save him so he eventually awakens his superpowers due to this accident... more>> and becomes a big villain. This time, she saves him and leaves with him, thus beginning her path of taking in the biggest villains of her past life. It's a pretty light-hearted read, not too much gore and sadness about the evils of humanity when the end of the world comes and there are zombies, unlike other apocalyptical novels. The romance is pretty vanilla/puppy love type and they only get together formally towards the end, and then a very hasty engagement (that was a bit confusing but it seems the author also ended it early so probably the reason for the rush to tie loose ends). The fun parts are her encountering big villains from the past life but now they all get attached to her and ends up following her in this life. All the villains have a back story and makes the story more interesting.

I don't think she's an OP character, she just has a head-start due to her past life experiences so she knows much more about zombies/superpowers than the normal person does at the moment. She died in the 6th year of the apocalypse and got reborn back to the first few days/weeks after it started. So she learned to obtain nuclei crystals from zombies and how to absorb them to level up before everyone else. Although she also tried to spread this information to help humanity increase their powers as soon as possible cause by the 6th year, zombies were basically stronger than superhumans and humanity was already starting to lose.

The romance is pretty cute, just a lot of hand holding and some kisses towards the end. The ML is your typical quiet/cold/handsome guy who doesn't look at anyone else but the MC. And at the end the ML gets down on one knee to propose to the MC. Although I thought it was strange cause it took them longer to get together than it did for them to get engaged and everything happens in less than a year? (not super certain cause I MTL it).

There are several real villains throughout the novel but they usually end up dying pretty quickly which I personally like cause they were villains in her past life and if she can't solve them quickly being reborn then, girl, idk what to say getting tricked twice. However, it seems the author felt the need to keep a big bad villain so most of the second part of the novel is about that villain and how the MC and her team needs to kill him etc. So after like the 3rd time this c*ckroach got away I was already annoyed with the plot. And once they ended up solving the big bad guy then the novel pretty much ends, which was a bit disappointing. I did wish it was a bit longer cause she was a 6th level healer in the past life but the novel ends with her only being 4th level.

Overall I recommend reading this and giving it a chance, especially if you're looking for something light-hearted and fun. There are a few questionable things I had while reading, mainly about the settings in general.

Spoiler
  • There's a famous researcher she saves in the beginning and she briefly noted that his superpower was basically a supercomputer brain and that he wanted to create a cure for the zombie virus in her past life. However, a healer at level 3 could already cure the virus. Then there wasn't much about the researcher and curing zombie virus once she reached level 3.
  • It's only known that healers at level 3 can cure the zombie virus in humans but nothing is mentioned once someone gets to level 4, 5, or 6th even though she's reached 6 before. Maybe because the novel ended too soon the author never got a chance to mention it
  • I felt it was weird and random that there was another team leader that met her once and had basically a crush on her and they meet up again towards the end when she and ML were already together and he asked her if there wasn't ML then would he have a chance. To which she said no, but it was just weird the author tried to throw in a love rival.
  • The zombies and apocalypse aren't flesh out as well as other novels. One review mentioned mutation of animals/plants and I agree, there's not much about this and the only animal mutation you see is the team dog at the very beginning. Which makes me think the author only mentioned it in order to have a team mascot then forgets about it later on. For example, the team rents a hotel during a trip and there are c*ckroaches running around, but normal c*ckroaches. You can find eggs and mutton, etc. so it seems normal farm animals are also ok to eat and pretty much safe. There's only one part about a mutated vine in the beginning then once again, it's forgotten.
  • The romance felt a little weird. Like ok, when she died in the past life, she found out the ML was secretly following her and protecting her because he liked her. The only explanation for why he liked her in her past life comes from when the ML falls into an illusion in the current life. Apparently it seems he wanted to kill her at first because she was part of the group that left him to die but realized she was pretty cute and started to watch her, eventually falling in love with her. But this explanation is also weak cause the ML was like, actually that's not true cause he remembered he saw her once before the apocalypse started and even before meeting her during rock climbing. It seems he was helping her save someone on the streets cause she was a medical student at the time and he remember falling for her then. But then towards the end of the novel, it seems the author forgot about this and said he fell for her when he saw her at the rock climbing gym for the first time and he among other guys all liked her and he wanted to get her number. So...I think his reasoning throughout the whole novel is weird. Her reasons on liking him is much more solid than his, he just seems to like her out of nowhere.
  • It's a bit questionable as to if there were electricity still running or not. At one point the novel mentions that they need to get factories running again but then note that some bases have night markets and you need to have street lights to have a night market. So it's not too clear on how bases are running.
  • Everything seems to happen too quickly. She returns back to the beginning of the apocalypse (apparently the 5th day after the zombie virus) and it seems like the whole world already became lawless and crime-ridden. Some people already awakened their superpowers at this time and started looting supermarkets, etc. Then the army comes to save some people in the city and send out a mass text message and this is the last time text messages are used. Last time you see phones/computers/etc. It's like everything reverted back to the middle ages and the only machine people use are cars. Then bases randomly pop up everywhere and people form teams to go on adventures and it kinda becomes less of an apocalyptical scene and more of an MMO.
