The Zombies Are Coming But I’m Laying Down At Home

While reading a novel, Fu Erdie thought more than once that if she arrived in an apocalyptic world, she could only wait for death.

The cars could not be driven, roads could not be recognized, they could not even cook food.

There was also physical strength involved…there was no need for her to encounter a zombie because with just a sudden drop of temperature, she could get a cold and fever and die from it.

As a useless person of the new century, she sincerely hoped that the whole world would be prosperous and free of disease and calamity. At the same time, she could just draw at home and earn living expenses while muddling through.

As a result, God played a joke on her.

After a shower of rain, the world changed. There were zombies and dead plants everywhere.

She looked down from a window on the 10th floor and saw the crowd panicking. The cars rammed and blocked the road, and the small noodle shop she often went to was now stained with blood… Everything pulled back Fu Erdie from her fantasy.

The world had truly changed.

Fu Erdie decided to go out to find her relatives, and she would bet on whether she would become a zombie or an alien. She gathered her courage and opened the door, then stepped back and closed it. The zombie neighbors in the corridor were horrible! It is impossible to fight zombies, you can only wait to die in a wretched manner. And any chance, there was a lot of stored food at home that she could eat for a month.

But her ending was probably one of the two choices she had in her mind, to die now or die in a month. And she chose to lay down and continue her everyday normal life. She would just wait to meet the upcoming water and electricity cuts.

On the first day, everything was the same. The next day, everything was the same. The next day after, everything was still the same. The next…

A month later, it was time to pay the utility bill. The internet got disconnected and she did not pay the bill. The rest of the building was pitch black.

But her room was still bright.

The flush toilet could be used as usual. The natural gas could be used for her luxurious bathing. The small kumquats, small peppers, and shallots planted and grown on the balcony even thrived at a rate that did not conform to the laws of nature.

Fu Erdie suddenly found out that she had not mutated, but her own house had mutated?!

I'll be back next week because I have to go to school. 🥲 ML: Sang Wenhao, graduate with BS engineering. Was a teaching assistant.

Mc: Fu Erdie, stay-at-home, unemployed, a writer and artist.

Their names are not like MC and ML right? 🤭
WARNING ⚠️

Someone tried to r*pe the MC in early chapter dont worry how MC handled the rapist was satisfying to me. 🤺 Chapter 6 I was fckin surprised and my heart beat was so fast!! That was INTENSE! You should have patience when reading the early chapters. MC is pessimistic but thankfully she is also head strong. Although she is a stay-at-home kind of person she does work out. She always work out and she doesn't take elevator so she is always using stairs. She lives in the 16th floor so yeah you can see how strong MC is. Its just that she is suicidal and pessimistic but she is trying to survive in chapter 12-14

Spoiler

Spoiler!!

MCs body can control the house??? MCs body and the house is one?? If she dies she will resurrect in the house??? (Still a hypothesis tho)

[collapse]

Cucumber and tomato fighting.

MC putting them in different rooms. Cucumber and tomato trying to find ways to get together and fight again. MC : shameless 🙂

MC and plant cubs

Plants happy to get nucleus*

Mc: okay, for those who didn't get nucleus. You can sleep with me in the bed and practice your powers. Plants starts fighting so they wont get nucleus*

Mc: 🙃

Hehe, MC and ML feel for each other. Not ML falling for MC at first sight or MC falling for ML at first sight. It just cl**ked. 🤭 interview

So what was your first impression?

Mc: He is a big dog. ML: A cat, want to rub it but don't want to have a pe*verted impression.

MC and ML going out of their community: we are just doing clean-up-drive, just doing community service.

Warning before reading the novel:

1. The protagonist's CP is called Sang Wenhao.

2. The first 17 chapters are heavy, and the 18 chapters are the turning point of warm farming. The general style of the back is fighting, planting fields, doing infrastructure, raising plants, and then fighting etc.

3. The title of the book meaning The protagonist's "lying flat" is just when there is no hope, he intends to lie down and die. Later, because of the mutation of the house and the emergence of various conditions, she had hope, so she began to struggle to survive.

I usually enjoy infrastructure/zombie-survival novels, but I lost interest in this one after a while. Maybe because the FL's character was a bit too inconsistent (and she became more and more OP as time went on, making the survival aspect seem meaningless), or maybe it's the lackluster romance development (if the survival aspect became more and more meaningless, the existence of the ML could only be said to be even more meaningless lmfao.) It could also be because the MTL was a bit difficult to understand after a while. Whatever... more>> the case is, I thought this novel was okay, but it was definitely not as good as I was initially expecting (I had really high expectations at first, since the author seemed to enjoy playing with character psychology, but after a while, it all went pooof).

__________

SUMMARY: The FL, Fu Erdie, is a very normal 24 year old woman. She spends most of her days in her home, drawing, taking care of her dog, etc. When the zombie apocalypse suddenly arrived (with absolutely no warning whatsoever), she completely fell apart. She has no confidence in surviving through the end times at all, and this sense of inferiority begins to wither away at her vitality. If not for her encountering both fortunate and unfortunate encounters again and again, she might have died early -- which would have led to her missing her very powerful and flexible non-attribute ability (which she at first believed was attributed to the objects in her home rather than to herself).

Then, while exploring her unique ability, the FL will gather members for her base and launch infrastructure building in her community along with the ML (who, as mentioned, is a pretty invisible existence XD. Just a little better than the dog, Ink, who features a lot at first but quickly fades from view once the plants come in).

________

THOUGHTS: Personally, I didn't think it was that good. But that's because I was tricked to having too-high expectations at first LMFAO. If I went into it not expecting much, I think my tolerance for the little disadvantages that the story has wouldn't be so bad. After all, it still includes the infrastructure and survival elements that I like. It's just that some character development and relationship aspects were handled very clumsily. And, oh, there's also the setting too, which is not only whimsical but is very difficult to understand in MTL (especially during the planning and action moments). ALL IN ALL, not bad. My current impression is not so good, but I intend to take a look at it again another time in the future to see if I enjoy the read more the second time around. <<less

I feel like the rating should be lower than it currently is. The text are messy, inconsistent, and sometimes feel like there's several missing chapters. It's confusing to read because of how much details being skipped, MC's personality is also very inconsistent. One moment she was a pathetic scaredy cat who could only cry then another moment she could kill 30-40 zombies by herself. She could vomit seeing messy remnants of a corpse but she could smash the brains of zombies with a hammer. The author is also very lazy... more>> to write details on to how the MC know so much about the apocalypse and just decides to write it of as her reading too many apocalypse novel.

All in all, this novel feels unreadable, it's way too messy for me to enjoy. <<less

The series is still ongoing, so for now, I could only read up to ch 93 free.

The story is set in a zombie post-apocalyptic world. Unlike other zombie stories, the FL basically just stays locked in her home at the beginning of the zombie world. Fortunately, she has food reserves enough to last for 2 months at least, so why should she bother adventuring out in the outside world with such dangerous and unknown events around. It's better to be just stay and treasure her last moments in safety with... more>> food, A/C, & electricity.

As she reaches the end of her power bill & utilities bills, she starts noticing that her home is still up and running with power and water completely fine. Overall, the story is a slice of life of the FL on how she deals unconventionally on how to live in this new zombie world.

Her character isn't too etched out. She went from a normal person and OP pretty fast. The one irregularity I found out of synch was that her character went too quickly in leadership role. For example, she meets her future boyfriend who is a graduate student in systems or something. Yet she never utilizes his background and designs and manages all plans and etc.

The ML is a pretty flat character. He's simply there to provide some romance, but he never emits much personality, while the FL just gets progressively more and more OP.

Her power is a bit unique compared to many other zombie stories though. It's some sort of domain or "home" control.

Overall, because most of the story is just in the FL's POV, the story gets kind of repetitive and stagnant after a while. It appears the writer is mostly focusing on the parody of the "Plants vs Zombies" type of scenario. For the most part, most of the Zombies are s*upid unless it's the leveled up ones, whereas the Plants are like the game, launches all sort of defensive and offensive weapons and fighting childishly with each other.

Because the series is still ongoing, I'll have to remember to check back in a year or more to try to read the rest of the novel. But for those who don't like being left in the middle of an arc, it's best to wait for more chapters or until the RAWS are finished. <<less

Complicated, funny as well as sad zombie/apocalypse/rebirth novel. Novel use of plant powers - yea for the green revolution!

I finished the novel via MTL - a favorite story and worth re-reading.

This is the worst apocalypse novel I have read. The MC is so pessimistic that I have a headache and feel depressed!

I have only read up to chapter 13 and I could not continue because of the inconsistencies and MC's s*upidity.

Spoiler

MC is very timid and very weak type at the beginning, she vomit just after watching a dead zombie through the monitor. The story makes zero sense. A power user suddenly came from 2 floors below her and attacked her just because she have her air con turned on? And even knowing the power use have bad intention, she opens the door for him. Unsurprisingly, she got attacked and then survived because the OP mutated plant (which she didn't know can save her). And then after that, MC suddenly go out and killed all of the zombies outside her house, no mention of her timidity or her physical weakness, even though she does not have any awakened power. MC doesn't even feel fear or show signs of vomiting. Then straight after that, she saw a mutated potato plant that is exactly like her other mutated plant and she wants to vomit?

[collapse]

The author is just pulling random s*** out of their a** and insert it into the story regardless whether it makes sense or not. I don't know how anyone can enjoy this type nonsense story!!! <<less

It's a great apocalypse slice-of-life but there are two warnings... this isn't quite a romance novel and the MC is definitely overpowered (especially in the extras). It should be a 4.3 rating but I'll make it 5 stars to increase the rating, 3.9 is way too low.

It is good otherwise. MC is a calm, pessimistic, family-oriented person. Her power is quite unique and could be considered as a gold finger since it seems especially wired to protect her ... more>>

it works for her protection and guided by trust so it can't be stolen, coerced or exploited

. But it was difficult to figure out how it worked (she didn't realize she even had powers until her love interest appeared) and she had to work hard to get stronger.

I'm not sure ML qualifies as a main character, most of the time he's MC's sidekick or her shadow. They trust each other, like each other and are inseparable but there's not much romance per se. I liked the way she didn't forget about her family but wasn't reckless about looking for them.

Loved the plants! She calls them kindergarden students and they are a lot of fun. I did notice two plot holes but they're not big deal
Spoiler

1. the dog, where did he go?! 2. the discomfort she had about feeling "godlike" because something seemed to be changing her
