I feel like the author lost their way after a while. The antagonist's end was too quick and simple. The main threat kept changing. The dragons were in and out of the scene to complete their purposes, it felt so mechanic. But the MAIN REASON I'm cutting a star is because of the ML leaving FL without explaining sh*t to her. Brother. She won't get hurt by you talking to her for 5 more sentences.

After a certain point, the book lost its common sense, only dating by the rules of... more>> a ridiculous book, allowing her og mother to the mansion. Doesn't make the slightest sense.

After her mother appeared, the story dropped 3 more stars. The annoying misunderstanding was too much.
The writing degraded so much that I didn't want to continue anymore. I think 98 chapters is enough, I'm not going to let myself consume time hating this. <<less

In my opinion, it was a wonderful novel. The first half was definitely better than the second, but the second half helped you understand the smaller details of the story better. It started off light-hearted and fluffy and becomes a bit dark in the middle but goes back to being light and fluffy afterwards. It goes from drama (not too heavy drama) to a slice of life novel for 20-30 chapters before treading back to light drama.

The male lead isn't overbearing or cruel, but he's rather cute. The female lead... more>> was a unique character, definitely one of my favourite characters out of all the novels I've read. Obviously, their cat is 10/10 best character <<less

I love the story so much... The cool FL with a cute story about arranged marriage is my cup of tea, you know... I really like their interaction so far... I am grateful for the translations but I hope someone pick this story back soon...

Almost comically bad, but mostly mediocre. Poorly edited MTL makes a badly paced and ill-conceived storyline go down even worse.

Mostly fluff paired with a half-baked attempt at political intrigue. A couple that struggles with basic communication — they talk to each other, but rarely share their thoughts with each other.

Give it a shot if you want, but be warned that even the two stars I've given it here is generous.

I love this novel, it is very light and more of a slice of life, it doesnt delve too deeply on any plot device but it does have a little bit of everything in terms of cliche. The previous translator made it very clear what type of novel and plot this had, so definitely read his/her last chapter if you dont think you want to invest too much time on this story. But personally I like it. Also, I don't think it's fair to judge the quality of the translation,... more>> most of these novels are translated with no compensation, if you think you can translate and edit any better than go ahead and offer your help to the current translators but complaints could discourage the translators and motivate them to drop this story. The translations--to me--have been understandable. <<less

Someone please pick up this series ??

The translator recently just dropped this project because it's not their cup of tea and I'm not complaining. Everybody have different taste and preferences after all.

But I really looking up of how this story gonna progressing. I guess it's a slowburn type novel and I think it's good~~~

Well, this is just boring. I’ve tried to read up to the last updated chapters, but I’m not interested I’m not intrigued. This story is kinda weak, moreover the translation is not the best.
Yes it’s sweet in some sense, and maybe interesting up to 30th chapters but that’s it.

In a day I won’t even remember that such a story exists.

about what happend to FL after the kidnapping, and how the ML responded, and I can say, it's satisfying to read this part

But, everyone has it's kind of tea that they like. But this novel is my cup of the. Light and the plot is easy to guess so I'm not really gonna get depressed when reading (but still careful, there is some part that stings like an onion^^) still I'm gonna give review that I hope will help you all choosing if this novel worth of your time or not.

PLOT : as I already said, this novel is not the deep novels that had so many spice. This one is light and healing? Easy to digest. No inner conflict, the villains are clear since the beginning of the story. considering the chapter isn't that much.

VIBES : I definitely gonna say, it's mellow yet there's a lil bit of comedy. About the romance, I'm sure it's not the diabetic one. Until the recent chapter that I read, the most intimate FL and ML is (find in the manwha ch 18) thats it. Still I like it, and the whole thing is make sense for me

In the early 60 untill recent ch, ML always denied his overprotective behavior to the FL as love but just a gratitude. It is make sense, people. You can take a look at ML background, how they interact, and the situation plus ML's personalities. And I personally like this slow burn. Because bonding take times not just a few months together the BOOMS...a happy couple is created. Well, sometimes situation can make it faster, especially live and death situations. But still, I love how the author take time to explore more about the feelings of FL and ML even though we as the reader can see the seed of love growing.

CHARA DEVELOPMENT: I can't say much in here. Bc once again this is novel plot is simple and light. But one thing I do agree with the other comments is FL character specialty is being beautiful as a goddess (TuT) and a "unique" trait plus kindness that didn't really help. Yes she is the one who sacrifice so many when helping the ML in the earlier arc, but that's it. FL doesn't have further development. To be honest I don't really like how ignorant she is🥲 come on, she officially became the duchess but doesn't learn etiquette and do her job and act like an actuall lord, she looks more like a doll that everyone take care with extra delicatecare. Yes she's not in a top notch condition, but still... (you all gonna understand if read it your self in ch 35 -71)

But I can tolerate it because she's cute for me and it's just a story🤣🤭 for my bias character in here are Nanny and the crown prince.

I love how painful the drama was and how MCs struggled in life together until they finally somehow got a well-off life. They're so cute and am actually savoring the slow process of their feelings for each other.

Am so excited to read more of the story 😊.

Worth romance to read...

Although I seriously love this novel's plot and characters I feel as if it was a bit lacking in the early chapters. You know that feeling when you read a multi chaptered fanfic and you get the satisfaction of the story but feel like details were often left out or time skips were a bit too long to be left completely untouched, that's the feeling this novel gives you when you start. The characters and plot satisfy you however time goes by so fast in certain chapters that you’re left... more>> wondering why nothing else was written or why it feels like you jump from one fanfiction trope to the next.

However this problem gets resolved when they enter the chapters in their 20s. From then on you get to freely enjoy a well written novel that drags you into the story, both in annoyance over characters you wish would just disappear already as well as wholesome moments you want to treasure forever.

As others have said before this novel is more like a slice of life than the usual revenge we would read about but it still has it’s good portion of revenge! Don’t worry those who do evil will get their deserved punishment. However these two have been through so much hardships and agony that you can’t help but wish them the happiest slice of life story you could think of.

Overall this is one of my favorite korean web novels and both the female lead and male lead have stolen my heart, ice cube and brown bear I’ll be rooting for you! <<less

I mean I really don’t get why some readers don’t like the FL. You know that felling when you really give up on yourself sometimes. It really hard to get yourself together when you had gone through so much. This is absolutely a healing story type. I really like Ian 😊

The translation is wonderful, so sad it has been dropped?, , the story got MC that has my favorite personality traits. FL is really independent, smart, brave, not a pushover

The ML is really likeable as well. He seems like a kind, responsible, and mature person.

I’m writing this review 2 chapters away from the finale/the end of the side chapters as I felt like I couldn’t leave things left unsaid.

Having followed this series for 2+ years now, I have to say that every moment has been an absolute joy to read. From the very beginning, Lariette, our lovely main character and female lead’s story has pulled me in, both pulling at my heart strings and making me cheer for her. Truthfully, the story could’ve just been about her and it’d still turn out absolutely amazing.... more>> Adding our ML, Ian, into the mix however, turned this story into an absolute masterpiece. The two characters synergy are the best I’ve seen written, while their moments of fluff always make me so happy to read about.

Now for some actual details; Going into this story, it’s easy to think it’ll simply be a bunch of fluff/lovey dovey moments between the FL & ML. That, however, couldn’t be further from the truth. The story itself starts off as a tragedy and tale of hardship, showcasing the abuse & neglect our Female Lead suffers that shaped her into who she is. While this is somewhat standard for these stories, what made it really hit home was how this abuse & how it shaped Lariette, never really “left.” Even with the love given to her, her past didn’t magically disappear, instead she incorporated it into herself and used it to grow in the future.

Ian is much the same. While I can’t get into very many details without spoilers, he has his own tragedies he’s experienced, a sense of duty, and an overbearing love he’d locked away. All of these drive his character to greater & greater heights, until we hit 60ish chapters in, which I can only describe as the stories “climax.” I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading these chapters, and the aftermath is one of the most satisfying things I’ve read in a novel.

I also need to talk about the side characters of the story. Starting with the maids, while they didn’t have much “screen time” every moment they had was fun to read, and unlike some others stories maids, they helped serve a major purpose in the story. The story even uses them to subvert your expectations several times, making me genuinely shocked at some points. (Incoming spoilers, past the black box nothing else is a spoiler)

When talking about the side characters, I also can’t neglect the dragons, While they only appear towards the end of the story, each of the dragons individual quirks are incredibly funny while simultaneously adding to their characters and giving them their own motivations. It’s also around wonderful. I also can’t neglect Olivia, Lariette’s mother. As a “mother who abandoned her child” archetype, I initially disliked her, as the author intended. This all turned around later however, when Olivia’s backstory was unfurled before us, completely shocking me in regards to her character and simultaneously turning her into one of my favorites. I could easily recommend the story just for her existence.

Finally, the I must mention translation team: Nabi and Effe. Both of them put tons of work into giving us high quality translations, and I can’t thank them enough for that. Without them, I would’ve never been given the chance to read this wonderful story, and I can’t wait to see what they’ll translate next. Please, I implore you, if only for their amazing translations, please read this story. It’s a 10/10 work on its own, and a 15/10 with their added efforts. <<less

We'll get to see how the relationship blossoms between Laritte and Ian after the Duke clears his name and take revenge for his benefactor. Laritte's motive in the story is quite simple while the Duke's becomes unclear after he makes Laritte his duchess officially.

Both main leads' upbringing shaped them, leads them to think and make decisions that lead to the misunderstanding throughout the relationship but they get resolved one way or the other. I don't find it frustrating as I sometimes do with those type of tropes.

The pacing of the story is good and it's easy to follow. Angsty parts are not dragged out for the sake of it. All the secondary characters that are important to the plot, made decisions that makes sense to their character setting but I find myself not caring for them as much because I find myself focusing more on the main couple.

There's gonna be a dragon thrown into the mix so we'll see how that will affects Ian, Laritte and the duchy in the latest chapters (at the time I post this review). Maybe the cat they adopted is the dragon 🧐

This is super sweet~! ♡ And realistic. I love the setting of a humble house and a couple that can mutually cohabitate. So thank you so much, translators. I really appreciate youse allowing us the chance to read this. I also highly recommend Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon for anyone who cherishes this novel.

It's.... so boring.

It's not bad, but it certainly isn't good. I've read all the way through main story (the part I've stopped on would be more of the epilogue than the main story) and... I'm not even sure if anything happened (in terms of the couple's development and actual romance) ? The main conflicts to the couple's relationships get eliminated without much deliberation or contemplation by the main characters. In other words, the conflicts don't contribute to the growth of the characters or their romance.

For example, the family that abused Laritte are punished off-screen by the ML Ian, who is a duke. He gives orders to make their lives hell, but we don't see it nor did he discuss it with Laritte (from what I remember). The family is the reason why Laritte has low self-esteem, but she never even gets to confront them herself about how they degraded her and ruined her sense of self-worth. Instead, it's handled by the ML who is simply fulfilling his sense of (righteous, but unneeded) anger.

The same applies for the second main conflict of the story. THAT plot serves not Laritte nor Ian (MC and ML respectively), but Laritte's mother Olivia, who abandoned her at the titular Count's residence. Laritte, in fact, is MIA for a large portion of this arc on account of her

Olivia, the MOTHER of the main character, gets a lot of character development during this second arc. Even Ian, the male lead, doesn't get as much development and growth as Olivia. Wild!

After that second main conflict, there... isn't much else to keep the readers' attention. Which is bad, for obvious reasons, but the effect is compounded by the fact that both leads got very little meaningful screen time in the previous plot thread. The beginning does a well enough job of making me sympathetic to the leads (one is a victim of abuse and the other was betrayed by a close ally), but the actual relationship between the leads is dull. It's like watching a flower bloom in real time. The flower is pretty, but my god I'll be sitting there for all of spring. <<less

Plot is a little basic, and utterly lacks any political complexity, but the MC and ML are so sweet you don't really mind. World building is interesting. The best bits are the truly heart touching scenes sprinkled throughout the story. Enough to make you smile through your tears.

Unfortunately, the first few chapter links are broken, so I missed some of the essential world building. : (It really makes me sad.

This is your typical, girl gets abused and is forced to marry off to someone dead/with a bad reputation/was powerful. I’m personally not interested in stories like this but you do you boo.

Anyway, I’m not gonna wait for more updates since I think I’ve already concluded my conclusion. I’m the type of person to judge based on the beginning, if it gets bad later on.

Well, as you’d expect, I drop it. Either way, I’m not giving it a chance.
