To get this out of the way, I started reading this novel because of the shoujo ai tag, because I am a big yuri fan. So far in the translated sections, that's not really been addressed at all. The MC Ikuto has his soul placed into the body of his companion from the other world, Alicia, and they both go back to Japan in the same body. It seems to me from their interactions with each other that they had likely developed feelings for the other, but nothing ever came... more>> out of it, and now they're stuck in the same body (with Alicia acting jealous at times when Ikuto is getting along with other girls somewhat). It has an interesting premise, and I was looking forward to it. Was. I'm not sure about how I feel about it now though.

I was curious and checked out the later raw chapters... and found things that I did not like (personally in my own taste, others may not agree). Please note that these are major spoilers, read at your own risk.

I GT'ed it, so some of it is garbled, but I got the gist of the story. Basically, Alice (Ikuto's female name) seems to eventually get into a relationship with Hisui, her female childhood friend as Ikuto. However, SOMEthing (not sure what) seems to be going on with Alicia's spirit in Alice's body... something that will likely cause her spirit to disappear if nothing is done about it. And the only solution seems to be... for Alice (remember this is Ikuto, who is still a straight male mentally) to HAVE s*x AND GET PREGNANT so that Alicia's spirit can inhabit the body of the newborn baby. Basically giving birth to Alicia again. While still in a relationship with Hisui. And I'm not just talking about once or twice. I mean that they are tracking Alice's ovulation and menstrual cycles, and Alice is having baby-making s*x with someone multiple times a day, every day. This... does not sit well with me. At all.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention about Alice having s*x. I didn't look at all of the raw chapters, so I don't know if Alice and Hisui have yuris*x... But the author apparently wrote 18+ chapters for Alice having s*x with the guy she is doing. Which is unfair to both Hisui and Alice, and another reason I do not like the turn of events this story took, especially if Alice/Ikuto starts getting hooked on having s*x with guys even though it seems to be only a means to an end to save Alicia.

So, yeah. I'll keep reading it for now, but... I am not sure if I want to continue following it. As far as a fair rating, it's not a bad story at all, even though it doesn't suit my tastes down the line. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, but 4 is fine.

Edit: I thank Shiraori_ above me for their more in-depth review, since I wasn't able to get as much info from what I read of the raws. Dropping my rating to 2 stars for the nonsense plot structure and dropping the series entirely. Thanks for your work translator.

Edit 2: In reply to Citizen27 here, I feel the need to say something. Mental and emotional s*xual orientation is not such a fluid thing that body chemistry would easily be able to change it as it does in the case of Alicia. Ikuto lived nearly 18 years as a healthy, straight male, with no attraction whatsoever to other males as far as we're aware of. A person's mental and emotional state has more effect on a person's body than visa versa. Just being in a female body is NOT going to change a person's s*xual orientation, especially one as deep-seated as Ikuto's should have been considering his age. Now, if Alicia had started out as a baby, with all the associated growing pains of puberty affecting her mind and emotions... then I could believe it and wouldn't say anything about it (this was done well in Kumo desu). But it is simply too drastic and easy of a change for the time period that Ikuto has spent as Alicia, and feels like a cheap cop-out by the author to provide more drama. <<less

I read the latest raws mostly because of what Nermie posted below out of concern. I'm just going to refer to Alice by female pronouns for convenience's sake. If you want to know a bit more about what kind of story this ends up becoming, read away.

What Nermie said seems to essentially be correct. End of the story is probably going to be Alice getting with the guy and having Alicia as her child, given her response to the guy's question at the end of one of the chapters. "Do you want to have Alicia alone, or with me, " to which Alice replies "with you." Which is weird enough as is. She's in love with Alicia and wants her to live but she'll be reborn as her biological child, and at the end of the day she's been in a relationship with someone completely different. It just reeeeaally rubs me the wrong way that her deciding to settle down with a man was never really her decision. It's her only choice if she wants Alice to live, so she begrudgingly agrees to the plan. To have a lot of unprotected s*x with a man in an attempt to become pregnant.

This entire set-up is just borderline NTR. I honestly only just realized that's why it's got me so miffed about this whole thing. That, and Ikuto will never truly end up with Alicia. Sure, there's a chance she'll be reborn as Alice's child, but that's not exactly the same as them becoming romantic partners, now is it? That's never going to be an ending or a possibility, though I suppose we've all known that since the beginning. I suppose if you're reading this spoiler, you ought to only continue reading if you want to see Ikuto's steady progression into becoming a woman, completely, in mind and s*xuality as well as body. No apparent Shoujo-Ai to be found here.

I'm only going to mention one reason as to why I'm giving this story 2.5/5

The MC is WAY too timid for someone that supposedly spent a year getting stronger in another world, to ultimately kill the 'Demon King.'

I know he is in the body of a loli right now, but his personality seems to be the same (at least his family didn't mention a change, personality wise).

... more>> The MC probably spent that one year in that 'other world' killing a multitude of life-forms.

I would give this story a 4/5 if the MC actually acted like he spent a year training to kill the 'Demon King.'

I read some of the spoilers above me that stated that the MC had to get pregnant to have a baby, so the soul of Alicia that resides inside the MC can find a new vessel. What I don't get is why the MC has to have lots of unprotected s*x with a man to get pregnant.

Was it stated somewhere in the RAWS why the MC couldn't get 'in vitro fertilization?'

Shoujo Ai and Shounen Ai too? I just want to know if it's a turned-femaleXmale pairing or turned-femaleXfemale pairing. I will only read if it's the first... though there is no one to tell me which one it is so I'm gonna read anyway since I love gender bender so much.

Could've been a decent new life with family & friends (not isekai) story but nope, author just had to ruin it.

Started out at like 4 or 5 stars because nice supportive Japanese family for once who treats her like a new imouto and daughter. But decreased because way too much teen lust ecchi lolicon and whatever.

The protagonist lacks personality only is a rag doll that goes according to what they say, does not deny anything and just does it without more while complaining in his mind, he looks like a child who suffers from bullying and without mentioning that the story it is just a succession of uncomfortable events that happen because he does not understand the body of women.

I just can't, the first few chapters were fine but when it got s*xual everything just started to feel off. I personally feel that this type of setting is better suited to a novel without the s*xualities, shoujo ai and shounen ai is fine like a bit of joking and flirting hear and there but it just gets very awkward for me reading when do actually do 'it'.

I quite like it and in contrary to how other reviews of what is coming depicts it, I am actually rather interested how it will ultimately turn out since such drama would not necessarily be bad at all, it is all about how it concludes and is written.

This however is in another way a grave flaw since this is not a really a "love comedy" and due to the nature of the work, it not being fully released will put many gradually off. Being kept in suspense for too long... more>> is NG and I will myself stop reading whenever the plot thickens lest I get fed up.

To sum my expectations up for what is apparently already in the raws:

Coupling TS with s*x out of necessity is rather interesting, for a work not focusing on drama but H, how it ends up is not important but that it is exciting. However with a focus on drama, first and foremost the flow must be natural and the ending considered good, happy and not corrupted. I can not tell whom she apparently begs to impregnate her and how but regardless, leaving her other lover afterwards or during would be simply terrible.

Coupling TS with "serious" Pregnancy is something I have also yet to see, heck, just serious pregnancy and out of female pov is apparently rather rare or I am finding the wrong works. Sure, a certain Swan VN maker has more focus on pregnancy and is detailed but is neither serious nor out of female view. I really want to read how Alice deals with weird food cravings, massive mood swings, insecurities, vomiting, reactions from school, leaving school at one point, feeling the pain and ultimately happiness of having given natural birth.

As im sceptical what im getting into, im trying to read it.. It would be like a boy who summoned from earth to save another world, return to earth after his body killed and his soul merge in process with shrine maiden in her body (gender bender). Also

Great story with nice romance potential.

All claims of it potentially being NTR is, I consider to be false (Skimmed through the raws)

Alice/Ikutari and Alicia when having the... deed, its with a beloved acquaintance and always with consent.

Besides, the story of gender bend + Yuri/Shoujo Ai is seriously far too overused, and honestly the mc's of those gender bend Yuri novels don't act or think much like a girl making it pretty much wasted.

This story here deals with emotional issues well, though it does have it's issues and heavy moments that perhaps people feel uncomfortable with. Regardless, the idea of slowly having your heart changed in a good way is one that's not explored enough - the body does affect the mind and the book goes through it very well, an topic on bodyswaps/genderbends that most novels don't even bother bringing up. This makes for an interesting and slow romantic pairing between Alice and

The story is basically ruined by Alicia still being 'alive' and essentially trapped in her own body which she gave to the MC to save his life.

Why is this a problem?

She ruins absolutely ANY potential for the MC having any kind of romance or love related drama.

... more>> MC can't go out with a girl for some yuri action because he has another girl inside of his head that will constantly complain if that would to happen. Also his parents probably wouldn't be too happy but that's a temporary problem.

MC can't develop romantic feelings for guys because... well once again he has a girl inside his head who likes him and would probably feel jealous.

For all the cute moments the novel has, there's other moments where the MC is being completely taken advantage of by his family or some exceptionally dumb choices are made in the story.

All in all I can't recommend this to anyone but those who are desperate for some "passable quality" genderbender novel. <<less

Just, Wow.

(Update as of Chapter 90: It's getting really good. Not yet that gut gripping good, but the story is progressing in ways I didn't expect until the certain things happened. Eagerly awaiting more chapters.)

Grammar: 4.5/5

... more>> Writing: 3.9/5

Story: 5/5

The grammar is great. Honestly, if there were any mistakes, they were so minor I can't remember them, which is saying something for me since grammar mistakes usually feel like stubbing my pinky toe on the edge of something when I come across them. The writing is fairly good, no real complaints as it really suits the mood of the story. The story itself is masterfully done. They really get into the core of what is happening, the character development of the MC is REAL, and the other characters feel like they have some depth (not a lot, but some).

Overall, really enjoying this novel. I recommend this as a good read for someone who wants a realistic from male-to-female gender-bender (though it happens because of fantasy elements and contains some fantasy elements still). <<less

Honestly, this is how you do gender bender correctly. The story isn't the standard "oh, I lost my balls, well time to carry on like normal, " using the body change as more of a punch line than anything that actually changes the way the MC lives his life. This series addresses the difference in the ways men and women act and present themselves as well as the varied problems each gender must deal with. Which I think is the point of gender benders. When suddenly changing s*xes it is... more>> more than just occupying a slightly different body, how you walk, talk, approach people, changes the risks you can take, the pressures placed on you, and how you're treated by each s*x also radically changes. This series touches on all of this better than any other gender bender I've ever seen. If you're a man and want to see what it would be like to walk in the other half's shoes then this is certainly the series for you. The only problem is it stops at chapter 90 and it seems like the translator won't be picking it up for awhile if at all. <<less
