I was only somewhat into the Nightmare Games during the first volume. It was pretty good, but it really just felt like another unlimited flow series until almost the end when pieces started to fall together.

But I am now. FULLY. INVESTED.

Plot is going full speed ahead. MC and ML deserve the world.

It's still good stuff with more fluffy and lovey dovey moments between MC and ML (more dog food compared to book 1 as feelings are already reciprocated), however just to prepare yourselves:

ML left MC to fulfill duties being a demon lord or something so in the end of this book 2 it ended in their separation. In book 3 it starts with MC working (also fulfilling his duties as one of the overseer of the dawn thingy) and having a long distance relationship with the ML. They met up in the middle with MC chasing the ML (it's still gonna be a HE according to the author for this trilogy). But as of now the book 3 is still ongoing so be prepared.

So, I just found about this book September last year and binged it just in a week. Book 1 might give you a thought that it was just a light just for fun novel, but no, there's more into it. (Also note that the author said they'll make the 4th book, they already added the column for book 4 in jjwxc, you can read all book 1-3 for free there too). I love this series so much, so here I am making a short review for it (I tried to... more>> avoid as much spoilers as possible)

1. Characters

Here, we can feel MC's determination to get stronger, not only for himself but also for others. He trained so hard to be powerful, he realized he need to be strong so he can protect the one he loves. Not only MC, but ML and the side characters also have their own appeal and moments that captures our heart. The warm atmosphere they create is very real for me, it feels like I read the story of a real people.

2. Plot

The plot already deepen even though it's not as deep as book 3, we can already see some hints dropped here and there throughout the arcs. The plot was bittersweet, we get the sweetness from our main cp and the pain of whats gonna happen later that serves as the power for our MC to go forward.

3. Writings

The author gets better with how they capture the emotions of these characters and wove it into a very poetic words, the humour is nice and ofcourse, awesome angst as expected from BMBL. Because right now the translation has not finished yet, dont worry and go read the MTL, overall it's very easy to understand!! Also thank you for the translator for picking up this masterpiece with a translation quality that makes reading experience more enjoyable.

All in all, if you are interested or worrying whether to continue reading or not the answer is GO READ IT!

Very grateful for the author because they keep writing a story that they liked and give it freely for us to read!

I never thought I would be obligated to read MTL version of any novel. But this novel made me read the remaining chapters even if it was MTL. And was it worth that? Of course!!!!

Damn where do I even start with the series?!!!

Of course it's not a most perfect or brilliant piece but surely it can capture your mind.

The storyline of task is more than average, descriptions are actually really good. There could be improvement in the cliffhanger or the overall plot of the story. Character development are good as... more>> well.

More like one of the aspects I liked about this novel is how realistic were the character.

Whether it's MC, Dr lu or or witches, Demon king, prophet, pope... Everyone is presented or described like a real people..

Their cruelty, ignorance timidness, fear, hunger whatever it is, it was all real and projected carefully.

MC wasn't born hero hell he didn't want to be hero, he just wants to be with ML even if he have to cross the heaven and burn in hell. He is ready to suffer, and that feeling was portrayed very well also with that eagerness to be with his lover at every step there is also fear of unknown, the world he has never seen.. it's easy to say but when it comes to reality you'll eventually feel fear... And I was able to see this.

Same goes with ML, for a straight person who was surrounded by holy light all his life, chained with rule and boundaries of sin and faith I can see him crumble... Even though we are living in 21st century there are still some people who oppose same s*x love so just imagine him who lives in that world... But still I'm proud of him that he chose to accept that love..

There are many things that needs more spice in this novel but one thing is I am highly confidence is about the growth and emotional portrayed by the CP.

Although most of the time I want to tell ML and MC that chose Love, because you weren't born to carry the responsibility of world on your shoulder.. but easy for me to say... Because if some day same choice is given to me will I really be able to chose Love over world?

Anyways I hope we can see the more of fire and spices in next book. And expect that atleast in next book they both will chose themselves! <<less

The couple is so cute. Like you will cherish and love them with all your heart and their sad scenes are so heartbreaking; I bawled my eyes out. But a good part of it is quite boring for me and just isn’t well planned out imo. Especially the very first instance/scenario where I was still looking for the ML and for the whole scenario, which was a lot longer than I expected, it was just the MC and this “girl”. I would have preferred a hint or some clue as... more>> to who the ML was because it would be assurance that I’m actually reading a BL novel y’know.

It’s not bad. It’s still a solid 6/10 and I definitely would recommend you to get to know this couple but the scenarios and imagery definitely felt lacking to me. It felt like the author got hyped up for only the scenes involving the MC and ML and everything else were just notes pushed around on a project planning board. <<less

Holy Moly! I should've searched for this! I thought the translator would be busy irl or contemplating on whether or not to do part 2 of Welcome to the Nightmare Game or maybe it didn't come out yet. Thus, I opted for their recommendations. I think there were 2 novels similar or related to WNM that they posted on the last chapter translator's notes, I can't remember. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! *Screams in joy* I just can't believe it's been translated for a while T.T part 1's ending was like there's far more... more>> to be desired. I am an utter fool to not see this until now T.T
