Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. All Chu Lian had done was to read a book where the female lead had cheated on her wonderful husband. While wondering why, before she knew it, she was waking up in the body of that very same female lead!
Wait, did that mean the handsome husband from the book was hers now? Chu Lian decided to welcome him with open arms!
However, what she got wasn’t the kind husband she had been expecting. Instead, his personality seemed to have been completely flipped! He left her all alone on their wedding night… and just five days into their marriage, her dear husband abandoned his loving wife and left to enlist in the army!
Fine! Be that way! She could pass her days perfectly well somehow, even if she had to do it alone!
Chu Lian put her household in order, charmed the rest of her new family, and did a little business on the side. She even opened up some new trade routes! Her days passed peacefully and leisurely… Until her dear husband got into trouble at the frontline of the war.
Hmph, isn’t he crawling back to me for help in the end? Forget it, I’ll go save him myself!

Translation: 5/5 Notes: My ratings are all over the place, sort of like the story itself. At times I really liked the MC and ML, other times I wanted to drop kick them into the sun. I enjoyed how smart the MC was in most situations, but then she seemed to eat s*upid for breakfast whenever she interacted with the ML. And the ML was fine sometimes, but then other times he could be creepy abusive even after he and the MC resolved their differences. The food p*rn was a delightful superpower for the ML to have -- it was a nice change to have a female transmigrator have a useful skill that wasn't medical -- but it stretched my suspension of belief a bit on how bad the native food was portrayed. I loved the concept of having one of them be a transmigrator and the other reincarnated and remembering the story as it was before -- such a great way to set up an ongoing misunderstanding that wasn't easily resolved. But then, when they finally did discover the truth about each other, it was almost completely glossed over and not addressed/discussed at all. So disappointing after 700+ chapters to completely ignore the resolution of the core concept. I'm baffled by the author's decision to do that.
After their wedding and a few interactions, the ML and FL were separated for so many chapters, and this is where the FL developed her character and her relationship with the people around her except her husband.
While he is in the army, there were some exchanges of letters between the Chu Lian and Changdi and this is where their relationship starts. (The FL transmigrated to the body of the ML's wife, but the male lead suffered and died in his previous life because of his wife and her lover, thus he wanted revenge when he reincarnated, but he couldn't kill the wife because of his family.) She's a naturally caring person who only wants to live peacefully with good food and laze around and her actions in the capital have positively advanced her husband's army career. Later, she followed him to the north where he is serving as a soldier in order to look after him and find a medicinal flower in the mountain close by and their relationship grows from here on.
The Good: Early story buildup, food, translation quality
The Bad: one dimensionally bad guys, extremely rushed ending
The verdict: 3.5/5. I recommend it. It's worth the time I've sunk into it. It went down from 4.5 to 3.5 due to the unsatisfactory ending. The novel as a whole is gr8 but does have it's fair share of faults. The translation quality is great just as I've come to expect from this translation team. It's completely worth the time I've spent with this novel.
Starting with the good stuff. The novel has quite a good build up during the first 400-500 chaps. A good sense of mystery prevails as we get to know more of the story. The translators have done a good job with the translation and also making the readers hungry with the foodgasmic pics scattered throughout the series. I personally don't like the cliche CN op MC cultivation genius bs. So I'm glad there's barely any of that here. The good guys are likeable and their interactions r entertaining. Now let's talk of the bad. As likeable as the good guys r, the exact opposite is for the bad guys. All of them are so unlikeable and just one dimensionally bad. Feel sad that their actions don't reflect human decision making sometimes. Some good guys make such an abrupt change to the bad side it's s*upid. (No they weren't hidden bad guys. They just switched personalities it felt LUL)
As good as the buildup is of the first few hundred chaps the ending is just as rushed. The ending to this novel is the most rushed one I've ever seen. Inspire of that I've enjoyed this novel thoroughly and I believe that implies that for all it's faults it's a good read.
