This is like all of the other transmigrated farming novels. We have the transmigrated agricultural, culinary, and business genius MC with his instant family of children and his lovely ger spouse ML. Oh wait, but there is something different about this one! There are NO WOMEN!

No women?! What makes this novel different than a BG novel with a big strong FL instead? Nothing, except the chicks have dicks.

Honestly, this could really just be a BG novel. They even have the same gender norms as BG novels. And for some reason,... more>> MC who comes from a modern society where ger don't exist, imposes the same gender norms on ML. What the hell? Shouldn't he be treating him like a man instead? Nah, nah, it's cause he gave birth though, and that makes people objectively weaker so obviously that gives MC the right to look down on him.

A lot of very common tropes are found in this novel, so it's a lot of the same old. Nothing really new or interesting here, just the same old with a touch of sexism. <<less

Hahaha🤣 Dude I can't get over this one😂 Pft I mean it's bearable that the OP MC literally just brushes past problems in a matter of seconds, but this novel even downgraded other humans' survival instincts!🤣 Like people don't know sh*t about potatoes in the village? But they have firecrackers, know how to make pastries, and candies etc???? Bwahaha I can't🤣 Like b*tch, paper was already invented at that time but people still know nothing about potatoes!🥲 Man, author needs to know what humans would do to avoid starving to... more>> death. Before OG Xu Ran was born, his ancestors would have already turned the soil upside down and experiment to find something edible!😂 I've went through novels downgrading other people's intelligence to make MC seem "smart" but I haven't crossed one that downgrades even survival instincts😭

Not to mention that this novel has sexism in it. This novel has no women! Only Men and Gers. The only general difference between women and gers? Gers have dicks hanging in their pants. Yep. Amazing right?👏 Gers are also lower in status than men. Patriarchy at it's finest here people😄 And, everyone treats Gers just like women! Like, a Man and a Ger can't talk or stay together, and so on. At this point, we could all conclude that this is a straight novel, the only difference? The FL has a male organ, and looks like a man, with big muscles. I suppose the author has internalized h*mophobia, which should be dealt with immediately please. The author is most probably a straight person who sexualizes gay people but can't let go of heteronormativity, and doesn't like women cuz why erase women right?

Business-wise, it's also not good at all. Don't get me started🙄 Author you tried hard, but it's clear, the knowledge of the Main Character is also under the capacity of the writer's knowledge. Nope, the business dealings were not good at all. If I followed MC's instructions, the costs would've amounted more than the gains.🤦🏻‍♀️ And don't talk about how money just keeps popping up everywhere and then suddenly growing when it shouldn't have grown🤦🏻‍♀️ The business was extremely illogical and mathematics wasn't even in the discussion. The costs and then splitting the profits, and the illogical prices of the products sold. Inconsistent with the hundreds of other novels I've read with settings similar to this. Some more valuable things were worth lower than things that weren't that valuable.

All the people here are one-dimensional, including the MC, ML, and Cannon Fodders. I repeat, EVERYONE is ONE-DIMENSIONAL. If you do not believe me, then congratulations you're astronomically s*upid.

And the romance, boy, this ain't romance at all. The MC, suddenly being thrown into a world (take note, not time travel) where there were no women at all and Gers fascinatingly existing, easily copes with it in a split second, heart melts in front of two obedient injured kids, doesn't feel discomfort at all by calling and thinking of them as his kids, feels guilty for them like he was the culprit for not dying early and quickly transmigrating, swears to work hard for their future together, meets ML and heart softens immediately, doesn't even feel guilty that they were not interacting with the OG Xu Ran anymore but a different person, turns so sweet towards the kids and ML without a single internal conflict. Then quickly sleeping with each other like he was the OG Xu Ran and thus had the right, cuz he possessed the body that already made two babies with ML. Then suddenly falling inlove like love was just a word, proposing in the bedroom and then sleeping together again? Just because he felt pity and has worked with ML to make money before and that the body he possesses had children with ML? Uh ok, wouldn't call that romance at all.

Not to mention, the ML doesn't even value himself, and only sees his value in MC's heart. Like he'd feel like he was beaten down and robbed of his soul if MC left him, not even seeing himself or loving himself just as he "loves" MC. Thus concludes that this love is pretentious, dependent, and one-dimensional. The MC only feels like he loves him because he wants to daydream about a future with a loving wife and obedient kids, he only likes the idea of loving him but doesn't really. Typical MC. I believe that to truly love someone, you also have to love yourself. Otherwise, if you don't love yourself, your relationship will either be dependency, obsession, forced, or other bad situations.

Anyway, this novel had me cracking up with underestimating people's survival instincts.😂 But in all seriousness, this era should be when paper was invented, how the hell do they have paper but know nothing of potatoes when potatoes could just be dug up while paper was invented by man? And what's up with the candies thing?😂

Heads-up for potential readers, this is kinda just chaos y'know? I'm fine with reading s*upid novels but this has sexism, patriarchy and misogyny and all other bad things in it. I wonder how smart are the people who complimented this lmfao. That's messed up. Saying this was great lmfao I don't know sh*t about what's there to compliment, this is clearly one of the worse novels I just picked up to laugh and mock at☠️ I could write better honestly. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thanks to the translator for wasting their time on this I guess, I don't really recommend translating something like this. 🙃 Don't learn from this. Anyway, everyone work hard, rest well, love yourself and keep going, I support you and will cheer for you.☺️💖 <<less

Suits my taste. The story is really slow, and focuses on farming. Unlike the usual transmigrator business expansion, his business is not big, rather he supplies the raw materials and sells idea. So technically I feel that he's still not rich. Not recommended if you like fast paced and face slapping. Still, it is a good read especially ch200+ (they were forced to go to ML's real family due to plague) and the 25 fanwei (stories of his sons' future).

MC looks more of a ger than his spouse.... more>> The ML, which is a ger, is a little manly in built that's why he is "ugly" to the perspective of the society. The ML's life is really unfortunate as a ger and suffers hardship; good thing MC transmigrated. Btw, their twins are both men not gers. For romance,.. Just okay since this is not only between MC and ML, rather MC's family. <<less

The main character is a s*ave owner later on in the novel and the author tries to act like he's a "good" s*ave owner. Also, domestic violence is used as "punishment" to a side character and no one does anything about it until it's too late. The "bad" people in this novel get messed up fates while the main character and his friends get endless justifications for their actions. This novel is readable but only if the sh*t I mentioned doesn't effect you.

The rating is so low and there are many bad reviews but personally, I don't think this story is so bad at all. The rating does not really reflect the story. There may be some parts where MC was kind of deeply influenced by the environment but it gets better as the story goes. Some characters may also have been dependent on MC and he might not have shown his love much to ML, it happens for a reason.

MC suddenly transmigrated to the body of a 'fool' and there... more>> was not much story on how was his life before except knowing that he was a company worker and he once lived with his mother on a farm. Memories and emotions left by the original Xu Ran integrated with his, so he felt close to his family immediately.

His ideas are unique and new to others that's why his friends where always listening to him since they know that it will do well (the business), their village/town is too backward they needed to introduce new things. As he was busy making money for the betterment of their lives, there was not much lovey-dovey scenes with his spouse (actually, I think that there are so many you just need to read carefully).

The thing I like the most in here is how MC taught his kids and family. He does not let them be constricted with the close mindedness of the people in that era.

Spoiler

ML had miscarriage once and their second son went missing but MC helped everyone pull through even though he himself was weakening from grief. If it was me in that situation, I wouldn't know how I could help myself let alone help others. This part of the story made me like MC more.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Also, this is the only story I've read where the MC and ML had miscarriage or even lost their child. Since most of the mpreg (with ancient times and farming stuff) ones where happy and fluffy, a bit of angst but not a sudden slap like this one, so it was a new experience for me

[collapse]

Spoiler

I love the most here are the extras. Other reviews said that MC and his family did not went back to their home and guoguo was still missing, but in the mtl that I've read, the story is more complete. They spent a total of 5 years in Yanzhou cos they waited for Guoguo to come back for 3 years before deciding to go back to Xu Village. Baozi is soon to be married with Qingshu. Guoguo married and had a child before going back to his family. Tangtang became the number one scholar and was appointed to be an official. There was also another transmigrator, a man and slightly older than Tangtang, who fell in love with him. The extras ended with everyone being happy except for the other transmigrator since Tangtang wanted him to wait before agreeing for them to be together.

[collapse]

There are some forgotten people like Mr. Hu, Xu Cheng's spouse, and some people that appears from time to time like Zhao and Lin. But it does not really affect the main story (it just affect me lol)

All in all, this is not the best story but also not the worst. Many stories that I think is not that good have higher rating than this. I recommend you guys to read this story on skynovel, that is where I read (i just finished reading the story and immediately typed my thoughts so its so wordy). DON'T MIND THE RATING. This story is worth reading. <<less

The MC (gong) is too accepting of his transmigration so much that I'm the one that got bewildered lol. Though sometimes he'd show cultural shock on some things like seeing a man (ger) holding a needle and stuff.

TBH the slow slice of life setting in the beginning kind of bored me so I stopped reading this a while ago. But now I'm in the mood for slow country life I've started it up again from the beginning. So if you are the type of person who likes extensive detailing of... more>> farm life then this is for you. There's also mild face slapping thing. However, the couple is humble and refuse to be all OP even when they had all the chance to. I like them for that.

I'm wondering if other reviewers posted incorrectly because there are other similar stories that have the exact "men as replacement for women" because the gers in this story really aren't treated as "woman"... it should be understandable that since there were no women someone has gotta do the job *shrugs. From the beginning, the main couple themselves have a division of work based on capability, not on gender. In fact, the one who gave birth is more macho than the gentle and slender scholarly shou. (yes the bottom is the skilled hunter in case you got confused and the one doing chores at home with the kids is the top) Both parents were called dad. There is no mother or wife that other novels loved using. You want to see an actual feminine ger used as literal replacement for girls? then read "Through the Farming Fields full of Spring".

I don't want to bring in history in here but for other's sake, this should be around 100/200 AD. I don't know about potatoes but I'm certain chili was discovered late in china. In fact, other spices from SE Asia were just discovered only around renaissance (1600-ish AD). Based on the era if gers were really treated as women they were totally going to be imprisoned in their boudoirs and not be even allowed to show up in public.

**For the sake of readers who haven't read the fanwai...
Spoiler

it features the MC's grown-up kids and as for Guoguo, yes, He was able to come back home. He is alive and recovered from injury. Meanwhile the older twin will be a government minister. All kids will have their own significant other.

Not bad but requires patience to read. Farming fans will enjoy this. Don't miss bcos of low rating. Good point is that the couple have a very healthy relationship. <<less

This is a slow novel and without muchspice (cofcof * papapa not included * cofcof), itis good to relax for a while, the main characters are good and the secondary characters are endearing (I really fell in love with a lot of these characters, the little candies, the little bun, the couple of friends he met at the exam, the old man who helped him with the strawberries, all of them left a strong impression on my mind, all as a family and as individuals had their circumstances :'v), they... more>> are all quite good, although the novel is smooth (in terms of plot) it has some elements that make it unique how the background of TongTong and the occasional drama here and there. Maybe my only regret is not having more chapters (I couldn't read the extra chapters, so I'll wait for the English version) At the moment I can say that it is worth it, it is smooth and interesting, perfect for reading during breaks (from work, school, etc) <<less

The best way to put it is that it's not as well thought out as others, thus the immersiveness is a little lacking. Besides that, the characters all feels like cannon fodders. With no real motives or backstories behind them, almost like an afterthought. The plot and how the character went about things aren't explained well, so you get moments where you go 'wait they have that much money? How? When did they get that?' - I would've liked to learn more and be involved with how the MC goes... more>> about his ideas, instead its explained very vaguely and even the business dealing of it is lacking. Some of the dialogue is forgettable - so it feels like the pace is even slower, which is a little off-putting when the narrative says '2 months have passed' etc. There's not much substance to hold on to, and you're not quite sure whether you like a character or not because there's nothing there about their personalities. Besides that, there's also a little bit of sexism and patriarchy even when there's no women in this world. But if you're craving a transmigration to the farming life novel and isn't looking for much to satisfy your thirst - this one's good to pass time! <<less

I was skeptical because of the bad reviews, but after reading through all I can say is that the people who wrote the bad reviews just aren’t familiar with this type of story or just can’t wrap their head around fantasy tropes.

The novel wasn’t too in depth in every aspect of Xu Ran and Liu Tong’s life, there are some time skips ranging from a few months to a few years, but the pacing make sense for the story considering it takes place over the course of more than one... more>> decade.

It made me laugh, cry, and I really loved the peaceful moments. The ending and side stories felt somewhat rushed, I get the feeling the author couldn’t write the same anymore and so decided to wrap everything up in a sloppy way, but I’m satisfied knowing it had a happy ending.

I really like the path this novel took, Xu Ran is just so down-to-Earth, unlike most overpowered MC’s that I get bored of. I was so worried it would take the route of ‘OP MC slaps faces, gets famous, and goes to live in the capital with the king, ’ but I’m super glad it didn’t do this and instead made the decision for Xu Ran and Liu Tong
Spoiler

which is just what I love to see.

The translation errors are plentiful and span the entirety of the novel, but they weren’t so bad that it hindered my understanding of what was happening. It would be great if another translator worked on this tbh.

I’m not sure how this novel would rank among others I’ve read, but I did enjoy reading it. Maybe in the future if I ever get bored, I’ll read this again. <<less

This novel could have been a great novel even if the settling was such as this; A world filled with only Male. There are Ger who was able to give birth and Man who can't give birth. These two type of genders made up this world. The society itself was supposed to be in Ancient China (or such time as that) but it seems that all of the humans living in this timeline of this novel seems to have their potential and intelligence shovels into their asses.

sure, filial piety was... more>> still a very influential common sense but... it's like there's no other morals concepts at all?

the MC was from modern day society and he just accepted his new world just like that??? Where the f*ck is his mental psychological comprehension of this new world?!

sure he got the memories of the original but having memories doesn't mean that he get the experience.

in a way if the author actually give more details and more explanation about cause-and-effect, society, economy, national government movement, interactions, and even more details about the mc's personality impacts his life. <<less

(Updated Review: 01/28/2023) Typical transmigration into ancient times novel. Though it's a bit too perfunctory for my taste, as a result, I only read 50 chapters this time (less than the first time, the first time I read up to the 114th chapter.)

SUMMARY: MC (Gong, Xu Ran) transmigrates to Ancient China and ends up as the married fool of the Xu Family. His new family (his Ger husband, Shou - Liu Tong -- and twin sons) are not treated well by his paternal family, so he cooks up... more>> a plan to separate and then make money after pretending to be cured. This doesn't really explore the character or romance aspect. It's based purely on Poor-to-Rich Country living where the MC and his family start off with literally nothing and work their way up — tho they remain humble and stick to farming life the whole time.

THOUGHTS: Recommended if you're looking for that kind of wholesome Get-Rich story. However, keep in mind that the writing style is very perfunctory. This is very much a plot-driven story, the characters are just there to fill in some roles (literally, they just act cute XD they have no substance to them at all.) Because of this, the story goes against everything I like about reading novels, which is why I rated it so low tbh. I mean, two out of four of my criteria are based on the characters and their relationships. So, the fact that the characters are so blank here makes it impossible for me to have given it too high of a rating no matter what.

(Oh, btw, the first time I read this, I was still pretty new to the CN novels scene and ended up mistaking MTL for the TL. As a result, I thought it was horrible XD. This time, I read the TL from Wattpad, and that was a little better.)

CHARACTERS: 2/10

The characters here are quite 2D. There's not much to mention about them at all, since the author doesn't really spend time on them, even though their character settings were interesting enough (too bad they were mostly unexplored). Altogether, my advice is that you don't read this for the main characters.

Xu Ran (MC)

I think the MC is a bit careless in this one. He's the Gong in the relationship, and he transmigrates with very little fanfare. Slipping into the role almost as soon as he was in it, to the point that he was ready to papapa with the original owner's husband and act doting a couple of weeks in XD. In everything else, he's also very careless (as in, his business ventures, making friends, etc.) It's only by luck that he was able to achieve anything, tbh. I don't dislike him, but the way he was presented makes him seem really undependable. By the way, he has no golden finger, just modern knowledge. So, he's pretty unique in this regard. At least, he's willing to put in the work to get things done.

Liu Tong (ML)

The Shou of this story is a Ger, though he is apparently a tough one, having been a good hunter and taken care of the family for 7 years on his own (all while the original owner's family was using him as a cow and horse at home.) I didn't dislike him either, he's just a bit boring. I mean, I thought his personality was appropriate given his circumstances, but because the author never expanded much on it, he just faded into the background most of the time.

ROMANCE: 3 /10

OOF, as mentioned, the romance here is rushed and very perfunctory. They're already together by the time the novel starts. There was really nothing very romantic about it at all. There's no chemistry between the MC and ML either.

SETTING: 6.5/10

If you're going to read this then, outside of the poor-to-rich plot, the setting is probably what you're looking for. It's a farming story. Kind of unrealistic in some regards, and the setting is all over the place and as perfunctory as the romance at times XD, but it's obvious the author paid a little more attention to it. Just keep in mind, that it's a bit chaotic. PLOT: 7.5/10

The story is largely driven by making money and living comfortably. There are occasional side plots (e.g., family drama, side pairing drama, etc) to keep things fresh now and again, but nothing else big outside of that. I happen to like this kind of development, which is why I read it, but if you don't like it, I suggest not going into it, since it's really the only thing worth reading about this story.

RATING: 2.37/5

My opinion of the story is quite low because it's, undeniably, a very clumsy story. Still, I know that it can be enjoyed if one's in the right mood. I thought it was very imaginative the first time I read it. But that was because I hadn't read many of such stories previously. Now that I have, I know that the quality of this one is really quite poor. <<less

Overall

Farming, Business Management, Transmigrate to Ancient Era, Improve quality of life, Slice of Life. This is the same type of story as Transmigration of Mian, Lu’s Convenience, and Favorite Ugly Husband. But I feel it is a bit inferior. The level of depth in the business by the MC is pretty shallow, we don't really follow him in much detail. Instead, he dips his toes into many different business ideas. He sells off the ideas instead. The narration of the story, too, tells rather than shows what happened. The... more>> pros of this story are that it is longer than most similar stories, the MC has no golden finger, the cast of characters is kind of big and different even if we don't spend much meaningful time with them, it is not all smooth sailing and there is even death in the story, which is different.

Writing/Translation: 3.3/5

The translation I read is from Flying Lines, Alanese Fantasy. I read at the readwn aggregate website. I believe most other websites have the complete translation too. The translation is okay and readable. There are mostly no grammar or spelling mistakes. However, there are some weird translation choices that are kinda too weird. For like 70% of the story, the men who can get pregnant are just called "Daddy" :) So even adults and elderly people will call others Daddy [name] like Daddy is a title. So the characters will say, "My Dad and Daddy are... " First of all, I didn't realise Daddy refers to gers. I just kept thinking it was a typo because Dad is the short form of Daddy in the English language :) Not to mention I kept confusing the Dad and Daddy characters because I thought they were the same person. Other than that, it's too weird for normal adults who aren't the playful coquettish type, to call their parents Daddy to other people. Then, at the 70% mark where the characters travel to the north arc, the translation started using the word, "childe". And until now, after reading everything, I still don't know if childe means a child, some nobility term or is another word for Daddy or what :) Sometimes, the choices of sentences chosen as the final translation is kinda weird and too modern like the characters calling Bro instead of Brother. Still quite readable, better than MTL, but definitely not perfect.

Pacing: 3.3/5

Most of the execution of the events is even, sometimes to its own detriment. The climax of things is sometimes solved very evenly. However, some conclusions got solved too quickly too. Particularly the final chapter in the extras. There were so many one-sentence conclusions to hanging plot lines lol.

Plot: 3.7/5

There were surprisingly more things that happened other than just farming and business. There was a mystery, disappearances, a disease, some army fights, making a winter, poor province rich, exams, etc. It didn't feel too jarring as well. I could still feel the ancient China vibes from all of the events. However, the story didn't tie up everything satisfactorily at the end. The children's happy ending was only briefly mentioned after focusing on it for so long and the eldest one was kinda open-ended and left to our imagination.

Romance: 3/5

The romance is just, it exists for me. The couple were already married when the MC came over. So they just accept it. There are the usual insecurities, such as both thinking the other is too good for them, and so on. I don't really feel the love so I just went with the flow and assumed that they loved each other. The ML kind of has a weak presence after the first few chapters when he was the pillar of the family since the MC’s body was a fool and there are two toddlers to protect. After the MC came, the ML became more and more a typical female love interest lol.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 3.5/5

Very rural Ancient China setting. Quite typical. When they went to the north, that was slightly more interesting because I haven't read anything with a snowy setting before. And the barbarians' clash was new, although the execution of the arc was kinda shallow.

Characters: 3.3/5

The MC was nice to follow. He's a hardworking person who can sometimes be cute when he's in a daze thinking of new business ideas lol. This isn't used much, sadly. He is also lowkey and really sticks to just being a lowkey farmer and villager instead of haring off to the capital for who knows what. He leaves that for his kids haha. Surprisingly, he doesn't go to live in the town either.

I thought the ML would be stronger when I first read about him. But after the MC took over, the ML became more and more like a typical weak wife type, even though he worked super hard and was a hunter for 5+ years to protect his family. Kinda sad to see.

There is a large cast of characters which I liked. They all have their own personalities and some of them have their own relationships (only as love interests for each other, unfortunately). The unfortunate part is that we don't really get to know them much or develop with them beyond solving one problem for them.

Personal Enjoyment: 3.5/5

I love these tropes, poor to rich, business management, improving the family’s lives, etc so I might be a bit biased. But the execution was a bit too shallow, even compared to other similar stories. And the romance wasn't as investment-worthy. I did like the variety of situations that the MC encountered, even if the story didn't dive too deeply into them.

King Yan didn't want them to go, but he knew he couldn't keep them. They lost two children here. One had never seen them, and they would never see them. The other had been raised for more than ten years and didn't know when. To be able to see it is more likely, and also never to be seen again.

I have read this more than one times.. One of my favourite novel.. All characters caught my heart 💖.. The love between the main couple was very good.. The one thing I have to say is that the ending was somewhat abrupt..I wanted a few more chapters or extras.. It was very intresting to read and I didn't feel bored.. It was very good..

I was surprised that the MC just accepted that he transmigrated and have a family at that.

Since the first scenes were common scenes in farm/transmigration novels, I think the author wanted to brush over those scenes so it seemed kinda written quickly. However, I feel like it went too quickly the emotions can’t be felt that much and felt very shallow. I wish the first few chaps where explained more because it had so much potential, like the kids and everything.

I think the story was told very quickly that everything... more>> seemed shallow. <<less

I know it's not finished yet and I felt slightly regretful for not meeting GuoGuo at the end of these stories. Hope they'll met him at the extras Ó╭╮Ò

Thanking author and translator [skynovel] for this great story

Pretty chill so far. I'm not big on directions it is going.
Spoiler

With MLs unknown parentage etc.

Feels fake.

I really dislike worlds where they replace women with gers, like I prefer a third gender over scrubbing out females.
Spoiler

Seems like a pointless substitution, might as well stay females species in this world have male parts in addition or whatever to reproductive internals.

My review is only based on the free chapters I could read.

The story has a good start. But not exactly exciting one. Like so far MC seems like ordinary person. Which in a way also make this novel different compared to many Transmigration novel where other MC always has Special Skill/Ability to make them have success life in their new life. But I can't say if it a good thing or not.

ML is known to be dutiful devoted caring Working 'Wife'. He's really caring and protective toward his Husband and... more>> Children. And when MC asked him to acting dramatic, he's doing wonderful job!

Is it worth to pay money to read more chapter? I don't know. I wish it has at least 50 free chapters so I could judge it. I literally can't give stars because those 17 chapters barely tell something of the story and just told us the characters setting. <<less
