“Can’t I properly read stallion novels anymore!”

Shen Yuan transmigrated into someone who’d tormented the young male lead almost to death, the scum villain Shen Qingqiu.

It must be known, the original Shen Qingqiu ended up being carved alive by his disciple, Luo Binghe, into a human stick, a human stick!

Ten thousand “f*ck your moms” rampaged through Shen Qingqiu’s heart:

“It’s not that I don’t want to cling to the male lead’s thighs, but who made him so f*cking black. The type who seeks thousand-fold retribution!”

Why have all the female lead’s scenes been forcibly given to him.

Why, as a scum villain, does he need to constantly sacrifice himself, blocking knife and gun for the protagonist!

Shen Qingqiu: “…I think I can still save him, one more time.”

  1. I can't believe I read this first before MDZS. After reading so many historical/xianxia BL, this is still my favourite within the 'saving the villain/protag' genres, mainly because:
    • There's no r*pe with forced HE. MC Shen Qingqiu comes to terms with his feelings instead. Even if the first time went badly and I'm not surprised at all given the circumstances, it was pretty much consenting on his part. LBH is possessive and has issues yes, but the novel falls under the tag for possessive lovers so if you want to read this expecting 100% healthy nontoxic behaviour from the ML at all times that won't be the case. However, the important thing is he doesn't mol*st or force himself on MC unlike in other novels with straight-up yandere MLs. So, if possessive/yandere lovers are not your cup of tea, this book likely won't be enjoyable for you. If you're not new to this genre and like it, then it's one of the tamer ones out there that end with a positive outcome in the relationship.
    • SQQ isn't an oblivious idiot MC. He is aware of Luo Bing He's feelings after awhile.
    • Side characters are fun and interesting. I also like how the relationships with the side characters are hinted at and revealed/shown. I finished the story feeling sadder at YQY's past with SQQ and also the real SQQ's past than with what happened between the main characters to be honest.
    • It's altogether funny, yet a bit sad and touching at the same time when the situation calls for it.
    • Bonus xxx scenes at the back. Plus author really knows what we readers want with all the fanfic-like headcanons in the side stories.
The only negative things I can't think of are that the story ended, and that I'm also a LiuShen fan lol. I wish this novel were longer, but I'm satisfied with the ending and bonus side stories.

Personally I think that this is more of a comedy novel than romance because the romance wasn't really there (for the main couple not for the side). I was looking for romance which is why I rated it 3 stars.

Shen Yuan's humor is so funny, it's personally what I think carries this novel.

The extras show the CP's relationship development.

Full of spoiler, but it seems everyone already know the content anyway, so let's go~

This is one of my all time fav, definetely reread. I agree SQQ can do better as a teacher and prevent LBH to turn into such yandere. LBH yandereness is really not funny, and it's not romantic, but it's logical for his stiuation to become like that. What funny and romantic is SQQ and LBH other's action unrelated to it.

Their relationship is not toxic. First of all, you can only say they are in relationship at... more>> the end of the story. When LBH just returned from the cliff, what he did to SQQ was more or less his revenge. And he even did it reluctanly because he had feeling for his Shizun. Sometimes, he couldn't hold his feeling and did things. But at no any point, I think he schemed because of his special design.

Later, when LBH kidnapped SQQ, they weren't even in the same wavelength. Also, LBH didn't kidnap SSQ to force him to do something he didn't want. He only wanted to keep an eye on him so he wouldn't suddenly die or gone. It's the same situation as his corpse. Even if he did some stuff, they're still not the initial reason why he kidnapped him.

When they were finally in the same wavelength, SQQ was the one who choose to be with him and leave the sect. He was not forced at all. He left the sect because they didn't accept LBH, not because LBH didn't want to stay in the sect. SQQ was also in the wrong, so he was just repaying what he did.

Now, where is the toxicity?? All toxicity were done before both party really intend in that direction. It's more like toxic student-teacher relationship which after some series of event, it developed into a pretty normal relationship.

Although, maybe I forgot some stuff and there are indeed some toxicity, I think they are far better than other toxic relationship in NU. It's definetely not one or two star worth toxicity.

The comedy is ofc depend on individual taste, but a lot of readers still love the comedy so it's still worth the comedy genre. Just because someone else doesn't find it funny, it doesn't mean it's universally not funny.

This is also well written in my opinion. It's not draggy and the plot and characters (side charcaters too) are not bad. Did you disregard everything just to give one star to one aspect of the story?? Subjective review then

I know people just disappointed because of the hype make the novel's expectation become very high. But idk how high the expectation is to deserve such 1-2 star dissapointment :'|

Even, with all my love, I still objectively want to rate it 3, but in overall NU this story should deserve a 4.5 or above. So I will give a 5 to bring the rate up even if just a little. <<less

The review would change depend what you're looking for.

Let's say from an entertainment purely comedic aspect it would do it's job (4/5).
If you came looking for romance and tragedy it's way off it's mark (1, 7/5).
Additional plus points for self-awareness and breaking 4th wall.

But yeah, if you're looking for decent romance, this isn't it, folks. The entire relationship is founded on misunderstanding and pity. The MC empathizes with the character and has large amount of tolerance for ML partially due to his guardian-tutor position, only in the extras you somewhat feel like MC finally likes ML to a degree (but not nearly amounting to something like a crush). ML falls flat in general, side characters seem more suitable as love interests for their newly developed depths. It's -to be screwed or screwed?- question, with one ending up dead along with the plane; the other is the s*xual way.

However if you'd read it purely for giggles, it becomes way more acceptable. I found myself wheezing and cackling over the puns at least once or so every two chapters.
The plot is all about fixing a shitty writing to a readable degree which I'd say is a job well done.
But the entire system/novel/transmigration nonsense has been brushed under the table (I know it's run of the mill standard procedure of leaving it out but heck, bonus points for clarity). The side characters had been 10x more interesting than the main couple and I wish there was more paragraphs about them.
Most definitely overrated. Animation is better as novel sorta often lacked in lingering in the critical moments and describing a character's inward emotions and their conflicts.
In depth complaint about the romance:
Spoiler

The ML is flat, he's like a light switch, on is for submissive loyal dog/sheep mode, the off is for turning off all sensibilities and becomes a teen in an emo phase. Calling that OFF mode yandere is over-flattering.

ML falling in love with MC was more like a baby chick imprinting on the first thing it sees but with the growth of hormones it becomes a twisted kind of love. The cataclysm for ML's demonic turn was obv. Forced but the redemption arc in return was even worse. The whole situation was muddled through, felt like author just slapped a reused band aid over a gushing wound and called it a day.
The reunion can't be worse, turns out your little white sheep from before turned into a demonic self-punishing necrophilic masochist. The entire time MC was rather dreading to deal with ML and only the reminiscent memories of the cute obedient version could calm MC down (or straight up pitying MC for what he went/is going through).
The communication between the two is horrid too, ML went from simple obedient nods to "Teacher doesn't love me the most no more" with his fingers in his ears. MC, even after being freed from the OOC restrictions, didn't seem like he tried to help building a special bond here or patch MC's mental state. Sustainable amount of armour plot padding here.
Instead he just offered himself up to be eaten (sexually) and it ended in happily ever after.
Consider that the man was straight and felt more like a guardian to ML the whole time, it's rather appalling how he got pushed down/or was willingly pushed down.
I feel like I've become the peerless cucumber and want to sent author 1000 daggers.

Again MXTX is just a great author whether or not I like certain aspects. Whatever you read by her will be a fun ride.

That said, I reeally don’t like “kid falls in love with teacher and becomes extremely devoted” storylines because I always feel bad when that happens in real life. I can’t help but want more for the ML’s in these stories. I’d like a whole other book where they (these types of MLs) develop their own interests and gain a sense of independence and joy on their own,... more>> even just for a little while.

Power imbalances don’t feel attractive to me whatsoever.
That being said the book is really funny and a good time! <<less

Amazing novel. Although they had a rocky start and little sad, it still became a wonderful story in the end.

Although there IS necrophilia but it's nothing to really scorn at, and people keep saying that SQQ never loved LBH or something but don't listen because clearly they didn't read the novel clearly till the end. It was mentioned that SQQ also liked LBH but man gotta be ignorant just to hate on something ey?

It's a great novel, should definitely read it.

I can say I kinda enjoyed it but also not much. After all this is mxtx first work.. the angst is a bit too much for me ig? Idk the torture the MC had to undergo just made me sob.. even until the end it felt like trust wasn't built properly.. it was fluctuating heavily throughout the series... And those heavy mood swings of binghe are really not my type.. so aggressive Gosh! Tho there's a pretty valid reason, still.. that's a bit too much. And I absolutely love all... more>> the rare fluff moments they have lmao. Definitely not too bad for a one time read. I'm never gonna come back again tho <<less

MXTX's first danmei work. I jumped into the danmei hole from this work. Nostalgia aside, this work has its downsides and upsides.

Upsides:

    • The writing style is humorous and in-character. When I first read the story, I thought the author was a man simply because the writing voice is just very in-character. This is unlike many other danmei novels, where the writing voice is more typical of a woman than that of a man.
    • The story established many trope combo of the typical of the student-teacher-transmigration plot for many later danmei novels. The tropes are generally executed well, except for some plotholes. The story is no longer as fresh after the student-teacher-transmigration boom, but it's overall still an entertaining read if you don't think too hard on it.
    • The parody of the dogblood wuxia harem story is on-point. I always appreciate a good parody of dogblood harem plots.
    • The MC is humorous and likeable. He is very entertaining throughout the story.
    • The ML is a complex and interesting character. He is the main attraction of the novel. Poor guy.
    • I have always wanted to read a story where the love interest turned out to be the final boss, but the development must be logical and well-hinted at for the audience. This story fulfills both of those criteria. A rare gem for this type of plot.
Downsides:

    • A lot of plotholes. Why the MC transmigrated was never explained.
    • The romance grew out of thin air. How the romance is developed was not shown and hidden in a time skip. 1 chapter the ML is an innocent young child and the next chapter ML is madly in love with MC. MC's feeling for ML is also a bit forced and feels too much like the love of the audience toward the main character of a novel instead of the love from 1 human to another.
    • The resolution between the MC and ML is not satisfying. Tbh, there is no resolution at all. At the end of the day, the MC never come clean to the ML about not being the guy who abused him and admitting his guilt in manipulating the ML for his own life. It's not like he doesn't have a good excuse (to save his own life) for it or that the ML won't understand him. Meanwhile, the ML is still a yandere who accidentally r*ped the MC while he was in his crazy mode and is still very, very insecure with a bunch of unaddressed mental issues. Frankly put, the "happy ending" is a time bomb waiting to explode again. This is a problem that many later novels with the misunderstanding-student-teacher-transmigration plot and fanfics have filled in, but this specific ending feels incomplete.
    • Weak characterization for the demon side characters. All of them are rather one-noted and don't have the character depth like the side characters of the human side.
    • Weak political depiction and resolution, which makes for a one-noted world despite the world building details that the author had tried to cramp in. Which is understandable because this is the author's first major work.
    • No mention of the family situation of the MC. The background of the MC in the original is basically nonexistent. Never once did the MC express that he missed his family in his original world.
All in all, even though it has a lot of downside, the novel is still an entertaining read for the writing style alone. Definitely a cut above the average danmei novel out there despite using many similar trope combo.

I felt I wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time reading this.

I have read a few books with this tropes before, the only keep me here for 13 chapters is the author's engaging writing style. I also wanted see if there is something different from others.

But eh eh,

... more>> One of the set offs is that MC's monologue is like on those otaku MC's in anime which is understandable because MC himself is an otaku. But that's one of the reason I stopped watching anime. :)

There are lot of MC's monolgue here, and I understand people thoughts are not perfect but inserting many MC's opinion washed away the other worldly feels of cultivation/martial arts novels (sorry I forgot what that word is). And I can't see or imagine what is happening clearly.

One thing I got irritated of is when they went out to catch the small boss 'Skinner' (if I remember it correctly). Why the hell did he got OOC, like he was not the one who took off his top clothes.

I stopped reading this after the fight with the demon girl who will be in the harem on the plot. Because it was not like a fight between cultivators but a fight between middle schoolers. I don't know what it felt with you guys, but it was for me.

Of course I still want to try this novel, however when I read the bad reviews, I unhesitatingly packed up.

I just wanted to give it 1 star but since I didn't finish it and also I'm kinda bias since it's not my cup of tea. So 2 for this ✌️.

:)

Edit! Edit! EDIT!!!

So because I got nothing to do I watched the anime adaptation of this novel. It got me interested, and so I stopped watching upto where I stopped reading in the novel.

At first when I read it first I got totally irritated with the MC's character, however, I understand that he was not a gay first and at first he did really treat his self as a observer in the sidelines.

As for the ML I got irritated because why do you hurt him when you according to you you like or love him? However, thinking it through, ML never has a chance to properly grow up. And that's the reason he got that character.

I love how the author did not shy away from these personalities.

..

And not only the protagonist's characterteristics but all of the characters involved (exclude the passerbys)

They have these personalities because of their past experiences. These personalities are not at all lovable but when the author tell the stories behind their characters they become lovable to me. And they may also be lovable and pitiful because of their outcomes in the story. And tell you what I did not hate any characters after I completed reading it!!!

...

One of my like and and hate is that at first Shen Qingqiu doesn't take the world seriously, acting only as an observer. We can see that he always makes comments here, One of the reasons I dropped the book at first, can't he be aloof and be mature in thinking, if he doesn't really treat himself as part of the world, shouldn't his personality like that. When I think it through I suddenly realized, no my thinking is the ppposute of the exact truth. Because you try yourself to be mature wjen you tranmigrated it means you accepted the fact that you are living in there. When you constanly think about the plotline and being bias about it and stereotyping the characters like 'she is the female lead, let me watch how their romance will unfold.... etc. etc.'

Anyways I understand that, but I still got a littlr irritated hehe.

..

When Shen Qingqiu finally see the consequences of his actions in the characters, in the plot, in the world, I can observe he slowly integrated himself into the world. I love that character develepment, although he did not clearly say it, I can always see it evrytime he helplessly sigh.

..

The plotline especially at the middle to the end is superb 😌✌️.

It's quite an adventure for me.

...

Love the characters

..

Sorry for the rough review... In short, THIS IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND LOVE!!!!!! <<less

It's 4/5. Alright, so this novel is just ok, in my opinion it's not bad but also not so impressive, it's in the middle but I still gave it a 4 because I'm not very picky, if I don't like it, then I'll just drop it, easy right? But I finished it, meaning it's still good.

The ML, I like him, he's like a white lotus at first, so kind, understanding and selfless. When he grew up, he became a complicated person but I still like him because I think what... more>> he did is still justified especially when we think about what the real SQQ did to him and the fact that he was kicked to fall at the endless abyss so yeah, it's very fine to me. He's also a cutieee, he loves MC very much and dotes on him, Bing-Mei is so funny and sweet, I don't know why, but I find him cute and adorable when he acts like he was bullied and suddenly tears up. I really like the fact that he's only like that when it comes to his shizun.

The MC, he's great, a respectable shizun, elegant and calm, he also cares for his disciples, teaching them and protecting them from harm, I also like his laid-back characteristic.

On the whole novel, the thing I don't actually like is I think the MC lacks feelings for ML aside from treating him like his favorite disciple.

Spoiler

You see, when they first did 'it' the reason is because it's needed and it only happened because of the system.

[collapse]

It's really not shown on the whole story how the MC had feelings for ML, I actually thought that it will be shown on the extras how the MC ended up having feelings for the ML but there's also none. The concern he had for the ML on the novel is just how a shizun cares for his disciple, it did not even put a clue, hint, or indication that shows he loves ML, which made me a bit disappointed. It really was not shown on the entire novel how the development happened between the main CP, the ML just suddenly liked the MC and then at the end they got together. Well maybe it did give a hint or something, I just did not realize it.

Putting that aside, I like how the plot of the story progressed, the MC did all his tasks given by the system, he filled the plot holes of the original stallion novel and he stopped the ML from being blackened. The original LBH slaughters anyone at his will while Bing-Mei isn't like that
Spoiler

he even want to be the sect leader of Huan Hua Palace, which is a righteous sect so SQQ would accept him, not despise him because of his demon blood

[collapse]

I also like the extras especially about MoShang <3 I love this CP! Hilarious and sweet at the same time. All in all the story is still entertaining and a fun read. <<less

This is one of my favorite BL novels ever (it may not be perfect but do note this book was written before Mo Dao Zu Shi and TGCF). I've seen some hate comments lately and I'm not sure if they truly took time to read and understand the book or were they disappointed cuz they wanted to see some plotline similar to other novels but couldn't find it? Or they just don't like it? Anyway, Bingqiu shall prevail <3

frankly speaking I wanted to like this book... but I couldn't... I tried so hard to but to no avail... it's so dumb... The MC knowing he was a scum villain charcoal in the novel he was Transmigrated into tried to attain the favor of the ML... but he is really dumb... Eben though he could inconspicuously change the gosh of the novel and it was abundantly clear in each circumstance that the timeline and the behavior of the charcoal have changed, he adamantly believes that the ML will... more>> not change and he will come back and off him.?. What sort of logic is that.?. Can't he see that as long as he acts kind towards the ML he won't hurt him.?. And the misunderstanding and miscommunication... how hard can it be to communicate to each other and talk it out... why hide everything and hurry each other.?. I have no ideas why authors write these kind of shallow characters... Iam sorry to rant but I was really disappointed with this novel... I loved MZDS and TGCF... this is nowhere brilliant compared to them.?. I wasted time reading this.. after each chapter I became more and more irritated.... <<less

aside from that, I'd say this novel is definitely not on par with MDZS in regards to character development and plot but is ok for a read in your spare time. I'd say it's fairly similar to other novels of the same genre. In regards to the characters, I feel MC is definitely the 'goes with the flow' type and doesn't seem to do too much thinking for himself tbvh. ML also isn't incredibly fleshed out.

Overall, 3.5/5. Cute read in your spare time.

I want to start off by saying that this is the main couple's adorable dynamic:

MC: scolds the ML but ultimately gives in. Tries his best to protect the ML.

ML: world revolves around MC (can and will destroy everyone else). *Extreme puppy eyes*

That being said, if you are someone who can only tolerate purely "healthy" relationships, this novel is not for you. I want to emphasize that unlike MDZS and TGCF, this story is basically a CRACKFIC. It exaggerates a bunch of cliche novel tropes on purpose, which is extremely clear... more>> to readers who have read the raws, but unfortunately harder to convey in English; this clearly gave some people false expectations that there would be super serious character/relationship development, when in reality, the ML's personality and actions are SUPPOSED to be ridiculous and the whole point of the story is for the readers to laugh along with the MC as he navigates this absurd world and somehow turns it into a danmei universe.

TL;DR: This is a crackfic. Unless you are sensitive to black-bellied MLs, this story is a pretty lighthearted read despite the angst due to the MC's personality and the sheer silliness of many scenes. The main CP is adorable (especially in the numerous extras) and the whole story is tied together by a pretty simple and decent plot. <<less

At first I got into this after watching the untamed. I become obsessed with it and want to see other content. I thought reading the novel will be a waste of time since I have watch the drama and read the manhua, so I decide to read MXTX other works. Many fan said that MXTX has other good story and recommend me to read TGCF. But unfortunately I didn't get hooked up like when I was watching the Untamed.... why?

it's becoz I don't really like reading novel _ (:□ 」∠)... more>> _

Unlike SVSSS, TGCF story is rather serious and tragic. I only read like 4 chapter and decide to stop then found this one. The summary looks really interesting and weird at the same time, so I read it. Yeah I read the novel (ーー;). But this time is different, after reading ch 1 I was like, LMAO this MC is hillarious and so for the first time in my life I finished a whole novel + becoming shizun simp.

The plot is simple and straightforward and that's make the novel more easy to understand. I love how chaotic head our MC is and his modern POV for the novel's world he transmigrated in. Plus he had some resctriction from the system, it makes the story much more interesting! Character building is well done, world building is well done, but something <<less

From the way the reviews hyped it up, I thought this would have been a good novel. I’m on chapter 63, it’s almost over and I've seen barely any development.

While the MC is hilarious, he keeps on flip flopping in how he treats the ml. I can understand that he can’t tell him the plot, but after he found out about ml’s feelings he made no effort to resolve anything. MC wonders why he ended up like that, but the current him, not the old character is the reason why. He knows that the plot revolves around the ml, but he does NOTHING to resolve any conflicts that was the result of his actions.

I really liked SVSSS. The best part of this novel is the way that it’s HILARIOUS seriously at the beginning I was laughing out loud like all the time. I also don’t hate LBH and can understand him I think I don’t think he is a bad character at all. The idea is not that original but the author makes it so interesting it becomes really unique.
