QWFOD is about revenge. Spreading IQ is about a bored chess master type toying with his victims. Delusions of a Harem is about defeating those scheming green tea protagonists. This one is all about cats. I love cats.

Synopsis: Gu Yan is an author who is black in a sense that his novels' ending are bad. His readers' collective anger transported him to his novels' world.

Small note: (Might be considered spoilers so please be careful)

  1. These 'people' (who fell in love with him) is actually one soul. No cheating here.
  2. This novel can get a little r18.... Maybe more than a little. No beastiality though. ML can shift but never does anything s*xual in said form. Just sells a lot of meng.
  3. ML is a cold person but sweet to MC. Only to MC. Very devoted
  4. Cats. Cats cats cats cats kitten. Kittens kitten. Fluffy fluffy fluff.

I Google translated this novel till the end. Although there were some parts that I couldn't understand, I got the gist. I swear this is a really really good novel.

If you love cats and yaoi, this is the novel for you. I love fluffy kittens so I loved it so much. The ending is also very good. I just wished there was more chapters. <<less

If you want to read a story about two relatively flat characters obsessively love each other for no real reason other than it being predestined, this is the novel for you.

Each world roughly plays out the same:

The ML is some sort of important figure in the world and the MC transmigrates into canon fodder that ends up either picked up by the ML or bumping into the ML. After the mc's status gets upgraded by the ML to some sort of high position by his side, the MC and ML... more>> proceed to shamelessly dote on each other as the arc devolves into aimless fluff and how superior/amazing they are as a couple. Outside of the first arc that ends with separation, there is little to nothing that can get between the two leads because it's predestined that they will get together and stay together. While the generic relationship obstacles in CN novels aren't exactly better, with how quickly everything is resolved by the ML and how little there is to their relationship, the entire novel just comes off as boring.

The real nail in the coffin is how the fluff isn't good fluff. Despite being the whole selling point of the novel, the amount of actual meaningful interaction between the two leads is close to 0. Considering the amount of time the ML spends in his cat forms, it's difficult to even justify they're in relationship at times since it can often read as a guy who is obsessed with his cat who sometimes turns into a hot guy who he f*cks. Maybe this sort of set up is enough for some people, but I personally need a bit more to invest me in the outcome of these cardboard cutouts.

On the bright side, there are cats. <<less

There are four worlds that MC travel as he state that he only works on four novels in five years. I saw comment that compare this novel with qwfd. For me there is no comparison. Just the same multi realms genre maybe. In Qwfd, the MC is so good at getting back or faceslapping the hostess or protagonist in each worlds that I always in a state of anticipation on each chapters. Plus, how the MC already OP and like to act himself into whatever cannon fodder body he is using. How he manipulate people around him and attract the ML attention in each realm is so satisfying to read. I haven't found any similar novel as good as that yet. This novel, it can be light reading. Not much suspense as in every world, MC task is to change the bad ending which mean the distruction by the main villain. The story focus on the MC and the villain, not much story about the protagonist and other people. Plus, the villain is the ML, so it's simple as abc for the MC to prevent bad ending as the ML very much obey everything MC said. (Not included in bed..)

If you love, or even like, Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil, then you will similarly love or like this story. It’s a lot fluffier!!!! If you’re a cat lover then this is definitely for you and if you adored the QWFD arc where ZYS was a supermodel then I repeat, you will love this story.

So. Much. Fluff!!!!

Although the first arc ended sadly it’s not unfulfilling, just wait for it...

There are some R-18 scenes but you can easily skip them without effecting the story. What I like best about this story is that it doesn’t drag out, each arc is properly fleshed out and it doesn’t go on and on forever. Plus, its not repetitive so while you will overload of fluff you won’t of boredom.

The characters are flat and boring. The story is bland. The author’s extreme cat fetish annoys me.

There are too many paragraphs where the MC just dotes on ML in cat form. That’s okay and all, but I would prefer to have actual dialogue between two people and some plot progression. Half of the story is just MC spoiling his pet cat. As for the story itself, its not that great.

If you are a cat loving fujoshi, you will definitely enjoy this :3 An MC that has lived by the principle of 'why have a romantic relationship when you can raise a cat?', and a very handsome, cold (only cuddly with the MC) ML that just so happens to be able to take the form of a cat~ There is soooo much fluffy cat cuddling <3

OVERBEARING FLUFF. That's the term I have for these stories.

Without looking up for this author's works I knew they're the one who wrote "King's Game", since both are following the same overbearing fluff trope. That's how I call excessive repetitive fluff scenes that happen in both novels. Not to mention that one work is a copypaste of the other???:

  • Arc 1 of King's Game has ML that doesn't talk, only chirps (which become effing annoying), in Arc 1 of "People" ML is a feline that even in human form mewls (don't you find it similar?). Not to mention both are silver-haired stoic beauties with face paralysis. Even them being virg*n and acting the same, lol their action of wrapping their tail around MC is damn same too. Basically, nothing new;
  • The plot development is non-existent. From 15 chapters here and King's Game on top of it I can guess that the plot will be an insignificant part of the whole work. There will be some events, they won't hold any importance or game-changing, everything will be centered around the whole "Let's lie down and I'll rub your belly. Plot? What plot?" That's why the initial idea of the author going throug their own novels doesn't hold much thrill and is lackluster, disappointing anticipation the reader might initially have;
  • The "overbearing fluff". I'm all down for cute stuff. But to me there's a difference between including some cute stuff, while the plot is moving, and just spending chapter after chapter describing same scenes of cuddling, hugging and "developing" relationship. "People" has exactly that. Even the repetition of scenes and words gets on your nerves (e.g. ML tries to be coy, MC tells him to "Be good" 3 times in 15 chapters with same actions) ;
  • But, honeslty, what relationship? It's hard to believe in a relationship when both characters have zero communication between them (and I'm sure it'll continue happening since ML keeps his feline form all the time). Just uggghhhhhh
In case you like non-existent plot and don't mind same scenes happening again and again, plus zero dialogues etc. You're welcome. Otherwise just skip and read smth different.

Okay first and foremost, since this really bothers me...
This novel is barely like "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil" at all!!!! At most it has the "Quick Transmigration" aspect in common, but the tone and plot is 100% different. TPWSTKMFMI is basically pure fluff in a nutshell, especially for cat lovers like me <3

--------------------

Summary: As an author known for writing great stories with horrible endings, MC finds himself torn from his beloved kitty and being sent into the worlds of his novels. Luckily in every world he runs... more>> into the very protective ML, who bears an odd resemblance to his cat...

Pros:

  • so so so much fluff!!! I can't understate this enough lol. <3 (As a cat s*ave myself, I totally related to MC lol.)
  • The one arc that ends in tragedy is so well done, it made me cry.
  • The ending was fantastically fitting and sweet!!!! Probably one of the sweetest endings I've seen in a quick transmigration story.
Cons:

  • The 3rd arc (Gaming world) was rather pointless and boring without any stakes whatsoever, with the ML constantly hopping identities.
  • The writing style can sometimes be rather awkward and childish, constantly referring to MC as "the youth" despite his character in that world not being very young, etc.
In general the plot is pure "wish fulfillment fantasy" and isn't anything to write home about; you read this for the sweetness alone lol. <<less

I did it. I Google translated this novel till the end. I really really like cats and fluff, so it was mostly positive experience and no complains because, you know, CATs. I love the novel, it is very light without any tragedy and you always know that everything will end happy. Both MC and ML are really cute. Their interaction is simply kawaiii. Third world has some similarities with reader and protagonist have to be in love- novel but only few?. So if you are in bad mood read this novel and enjoy ?

If you are a cat person... damage over 9000.

Seriously cat-centric, multiple world/transmigration story. MC has a system, a 'golden finger' in that he's the author and pretty much is favored like crazy by each world's Rules, but he's not as focused on face-slapping or missions like many other similar stories. Instead, he's pretty much a lazy pet-owner. The story is more focused on the MC and ML's relationship progression and enjoying the change in scenery/worlds. While there are some good emotional variations and a bit of angst, most of the... more>> story is overwhelmingly fluffy and pet-focused (which is really... not a bad thing for cat-people ok?)

Definitely an acquired taste. The author is a cat fanatic to the extreme.

Every chapter is about MC spoiling/petting the ML, ML being an affectionate cat, and oh hey it's that time again, ML needs to mark the MC with his scent because this is one possessive cat man!

Author-nim, I love cats too but.... what happened to the plot!?!?

What is the point of MC transmigrating into his own novels if he’s just going to sit back like a salted fish? Plus, how is the ML even a villain character when he’s... more>> done nothing but ask for pets from the MC??

Ok, granted I only read 15 chapters but it's been 15 chapters of cat petting. In a typical QT novel shouldn't an arc normally be done by 15-ish chapters? Here, the plot has barely taken off! <<less

.

I found it pretty boring but thought "Hey, maybe it'll be different next arc. Maybe there'll be some sort of huge plot twist that'll change the game" Next arc, same thing. I found it boring and repetitive once again. In a fast wear novel, I really look forward to the different stories of the different worlds. Even if the grand plot that ties this all together is oh so great, it's no longer fun to read if most of the arcs are just different varieties of basically the same storyline. Although the worlds that the MC transmigrates into sound really interesting, you immediately lose interest if all you're reading is about a Gary Sue MC and an OP ML that breezes through each world while occasionally petting the male lead's furry head. It gets dull.

Will I still continue reading? Maybe. If there really is any sort of grand plot to expect. I've already gotten this far in the novel anyway. <<less

This novel may be mediocre for quick transmigration novels with face slapping the most, but for me, I really love it because of the fluff, and it's a light read and my cup of tea. I love how it's not dog blood, the novel is just here to spread fluff🤧. So please give this a chance to read if you are a person who wants a fluffy story with cat settings. Also, I love how the author wrote the ending.

What makes this novel so different is that it is the author himself who is transmigrating into all his past novels and it begins with his first novel. As he goes through the novel, he reflects on his mistakes, especially with the plot holes in a pleasant endings.

Having the author as the transmigrator was a great idea, but that's where my positive impression ends.

The plot was basically abandoned

... more>> Honestly, it's like they just gave up.

First they build up the momentum for the author MC to seriously rework his own novels. But as soon as the MC and ML reunites, the plot gets abandoned for cat fluff.

The initial plot momentum literally crumbles down into a series of random side character causing minor trouble (and basically getting in between MC and ML). The villain stays in his cat form through most of each arcs. There's only plot progression when the ML villain is in his orginal form, which is rare.

Don't get me wrong, I love fluff! But why build up a great plot and blue ball us with crap filled with 1D villains creating trouble out of nothing?

Redundant fluff

Ok, so since the plot was abandoned and

became a 'slice of life' of fluffy interactions between the author and his cat (the villain and ML), then I at least expect the fluff to be continuously engaging. It did have some great pointers in that the author, being a cat owner, is able to tames the vicious villain who takes on the form of a house cat.

Initially, it was great, but then it got redundant with each arc. So much for fluff...

Lacking relationship development

You'd think with all this fluff between the MC author and the cat villain, there would be a good relationship development but......

.... how can there be any relationship development when they hardly talk to each other. I can't think of a time when they had a serious conversation as a couple. To be honest, I don't really see these two as a couple since the ML is always in his cat form. I see them more as a pet/owner relationship. They do act more like a normal couple when the ML takes on his human form (cooking, taking care of MC, and lots of bedroom activities), but this is rare so...

... the romance is stale at best.

No character development

Does he actually care about his novels?

Initially he seemed filled with passion for his novels and characters, but this seemed to fade as he got distracted by the cat ML.

If anything, we only see a decline in his character.

To sum it up, this novel is basically slice of life focusing on the interactions between the MC and a cat, the ML.

I prefer novels with a good balance between fluff and serious story telling. But even without a serious plot line, I still expect there to be some development like character growth or relationship improvements. However, the stalemate made me give up midway through the third arc. I might pick this up again if I ever get in the mood for pure fluff, but this novel has exhausted my 'fluff' spirit for the time being.

Outline of the first 3 arcs (Spoilers)

Spoiler

Arc 1: Sci-fi and space traveling novel

  • MC - Human. Devoured by villain in the original novel.
  • ML - Heidis beast. Eli Osrian, is the commander of the seventh military division of the Heidis race and heir to the throne.
  • Novel's protagonist - unknown (never appears)
  • The trouble maker (plot bunny) - Ivy Osrian, the third prince and most wanted criminal. Envies the ML's rights to the throne and takes interest in the MC.

The Heidis race seems to be a celestial beast with feline characteristics and seems to be about the size of a wildcat. They have a human and beast form, but ML stays as a silver tiger tabby cat form in consideration for the frail constitution of the human MC.

All the different races comes from different planets. The place of the Heidis race seems to have multiple names (Star Empire, Black Empire, Capital Star), while humans resides in Earth. The MC and ML first meets at an unknown planet.

This arc ends with the MC's death with an unknown cause.

Arc 2: Xianxia/ Cultivation world novel

  • MC - Heaven's Peak Master of Guan Lan Sect. Tortured to death by villain in the original novel for his unfair treatment during his disciple years and for locking him up for a month.
  • ML - Heaven's Peak direct disciple, Jiang Tan. Born with the pseudo spiritual root. Discovered to have a third of the ancient Taotie beast bloodline.
  • Protagonist - Shen Yan. Heavenly spiritual root. Possesses a signet ring that contains the Vatican Lotus coveted by MC. Maintains amiable relationship with MC in the second life and eventually gives him the Vatican Lotus. No other role besides that.
  • Troublemaker (plot bunny) - forgot his name. Chief disciple. mu*dered his senior sister who was the sect head and framed the ML for her death.

Seems to be based off of Scum Villain Self-Saving System, but this arc is wayyy inferior to SVSSS.

To change the novel, the MC steps in and releases the MC half a month early from the storage room. The ML temporarily lost his memory for unknown reasons and immediately took a liking to MC. MC feeds the ML a bunch of spirit stone causing his cultivation to soar much faster than his previous life. The MC lowers the standards for entry to a treasure filled land so that the ML can enter this time, but the ML gets framed during this time. MC destroys his own cultivation and became crippled to save the ML. The ML plots revenge, eventually achieves it, and lives happily ever after with the MC for about 3000 yrs.

Arc 3: Futuristic/ Gaming world novel

  • MC - Magician, Sen Luo. Killed by the protagonist in the original novel: "The powerful magician who occupied the title of the 'number one expert' for six years was a cannon fodder that fell at the hands of the young man in front of him."
  • ML - Death God and the Netherland Dungeon boss, Asa.
  • Protagonist - Thief, Ye Yan. Seems to disappear after the MC's death is averted in the second life.

This arc has a interesting setting. It's futuristic with an advanced gaming system in which the gamers lay inside a capsule and so their awareness and sense are completely in tuned with the game world. They could even heightened some senses to 'enrich' the experience. The ML does this to the MC for smut purposes. It's pretty explicit by this point

I love this story. Like the people who review before me; if you like QWFD or any type of that kind genre, you'll definitely like this story. Added bonus if you're animal lover (or mainly cat lover) then you'll love this story.

The characters are cute. Both MC and ML have quite a lot of fluff going on (whether cuteness over load or bed related scenes). Interaction of these two are so adorable that it made me feel like I ate a bowl of Lucky Charms just to say this "they... more>> are magically delicious!"

Story of each arc are satisfying and honestly there were some nearly made me in tears.

As for the ending of the book, I liked it. I think how the author end it is good for me. But I hope added like fan service (or after main story service) like some of the books.

Of course big reveals who is who, what is what and how is how. That's also satisfied me.

I can only say ML is always patient anything related to MC. <<less
