So for my first review, after reading SlightNovelFan's one I have no words to express my feelings. For once every point, besides him/her not liking it is plainly silly and shows how much the story wasn't read at all. For once, comparing anything to Zhang Long it's a crime, since Zhan Long is one of the worst readings and nothing can ever be compared to it. In fact, its inconsistency is unique to say the least. But as I'm not one who likes bashing on people but giving my own... more>> insights about things, then in short, I'd say LMS is just a story with lots of comedy, romance, and more comedy about a guy who can't thing of anything that is not his family and money. His love for money is not just because, it's based on a deprived live and his dream of making his family more comfortable and giving his sister a bright future he could not procure for himself.

The game system is also consistent, and the stat window that was mentioned gone in the mentioned review, is ALWAYS shown once Weed gets or wins some mission. This is one of the huge difference with Zhang Long where MC is just the superman in both reality and VR, and one that always gets weapons so OP that the last one is instantly no more needed, which is ridiculous.

Cast is so diverse and abundant, and if you have problem with that I'd blame terrible bad translations/machine translations. Is not like everyone has such a complex name, nor like you get to know 5 people at once. Personality wise, everyone is unique and have their own back-story.

About women, the only thing I can agree is that shaman girl of Heaven City is one pitiful character and one of the things the author can be blamed about since she had shown good chemistry with Lee, yet she will be left aside later.

Weed was not a douche bag on CoM, he was just obsessed with the game and his usual greed makes him loot everything, so players who got caught are the one to blame since they always targeted him who was a sole player while they were in groups in order to defeat him. Of course it was not said for the sake of sh*ting on the series.

About the story and side stories, what the hell. Seriously, whoever got to read this knows just how important is Embinyu Church and how they are defeated. Side stories are not really random, and for the later parts are pretty much needed in order to get to know more about the characters. This is a linear story. Not that so when it comes to certain enemies, but people will know it once they get to read those parts.

And yeah, no, you can't know what is going to happen by just skimming pages or chapters. The story itself is not filled with abundant explanations about things, like Seiun o kakeru or Mahouka where you have pages of descriptions that can be skipped if you feel like it.

And for the love of god no, don't even look at Zhang Long nor Arc to think that if you like them you will like it. They are just awful series, at least Arc is not that so, but still. You have to read this and you will soon realize they are nothing alike. Zhan Long isn't boring, I'll give it that, but it's inconsistent with the game part, which is like 80% of its contents, and pretty much has the Mary Suest character ever, both in game and reality.

So read LMS, but don't expect anything complex nor the most sensitive series. Read it for the epic battles, for a main character that is an Ebenezer Scrooge with lots of love for his family, for those misunderstandings that everyone enjoys. Read it for how to start an Empire, not just a town nor a city. Read it to laugh at Lee/Weed. For that you won't need to keep up to 40+ volumes, just give v1 a read and if that wasn't good for you, then stop and look for something more of your taste. <<less

This one of most beloved web series to ever hit the world wide web. Never has series had so translators and fans who just won't let this not be translated into English. It's simply purely enchanting in it's not being basis in saying perfect characterization of the protagonist allowing the other sub-par elements to be overlooked. So in that effect if you aren't attracted to "Weed' the protagonist character then you might find this alright series. After this is a story of a true adventurer and many amazing and thrilling... more>> quests. TL:DR So it has the best written quests and characterization of MC, making the best adventure story.

Note: Ark is a 2nd rate copy cat of the series without the awesomeness. <<less

The best VRMMO theme novel out there. Hands down.

Weed, The MC has a jaded personality due to his difficulty in life.

... more>> His parent died, leaving him (only have little sis and grandma) dealing with the debt that left behind. From here on he has to drop out and work like a slave to support his family.

He also like playing MMO and on a whim sell his online character which resulted in 3 billion won (US$1 = 1200 won more or less) bid. Sadly, the loan shark caught on this and took most of the money away.

Who wouldn’t be jaded if this happened to you? I would cough blood.

From here on, you could say he has an epiphany that he could play game which something he likes to do and earn money at same time to support his family. Coincidently the most ground breaking VRMMO taking the world by the storm launched. He spent 1 year researched the game and conditioning himself to get ready to play. Hence, he has a late start (1 year late) than anyone else who is on the top of the ranking.

The story has funny moments (love them) , the epicness of his battles is something people who play mmorpg before will understand the scale of epicness this guy generated. The chain quests are interesting too. I love playing MMO myself so I found quite a lot of things relatable and amusing too. Another thing I love about this series is the block of info that pop up (as if you are looking at computer screen while playing game) during quest received/finished, quest reward, info dump, character info, etc. The city building is another aspect I love about this series.

The romance is there, isn’t taking a lot space though and he’s not building harem (thank god) although there are females who like him.

The only hard thing is to find every chapter since it was translated by several sites. <<less

The best vrmmorpg novel. My first novel and this is my first step to become light novel reader. ... more>>

The story in the game is very good, you can read and feel Morata development into Arpen Kingdom, the joy when he get and sell all the japtem, the sad when he lost his armor *cough (finally he change his armor for godsake).

Very recomended light novel for all of you, but be carefull, weed thought can change your life forever. You’ll become one of Grass Porridge Cult just like me. “Grass porridge! Grass porridge! Grass porridge!” Grass porridge is a symbol of freedom. “Hooray Grass Porridge Cult!” <<less

The best MMORPG novel out there by far, and the MC is awesome. The worst thing is the mess in trying to find all the chapters to read in a nice organized format because of so many different translators.

It’s long, 20+plus volumes, but absolutely worth it. There are so many interesting explorations with the protagonist’s class ability, with the clash between real and virtual worlds, character interactions, constant adventure and interesting fights. There is even an aspect of city building, which I love. There is length but excellent pacing, and towards the end we draw closer to the inevitable final clashes. Some other novels are meant to read chapter at a time. This should be read in long durations, fully immersed into one of the best web novels... more>> out there. <<less

I must say before reading this you must prepare yourself for a ride because this LN is hella exciting and addicting, not to mention that it is funny af. MC’s action will left you dumbfound and wonder what he’ll do next. WEED is a professional gamer that his sole purpose is making money and you damn sure will not hate him for it, heck, even the people in the LN admire and worship him for it and he not even asked for... more>> it !!! He is a smart know-how kind a guy that practice diligently a year before, all for the reason to enter this VRMMORPG. He will use his wit and craft to defeat all the challenges, he is like a weed no matter how many times you cut him down he will rise up once again. <<less

In my opinion, the best game-themed novel. It's THE novel that got me hooked on LNs and I'm grateful for that.

The main character is fun and all of his background is if not believable, really entertaining. His greedy personality but his unknown kindness make it an explosive mix, the kindness comes slowly into the story though ^^. The novel is laughter-filled while being action-centered. I'm really amazed how the author has written the chain quests, we start from nowhere and then it gets just breath-taking.

Most of the characters that appear... more>> briefly are good, but his regular companions are a bit bland, which allows Weed to dominate as the MC though, pretty logical. The romance is cute and not overwhelming, the action is dope and the story is funny. What more can you ask for ? <<less

Holy crap, where’s the 6 star button?

Omg, if you think sculpting is boring, wait until you read a novel about sculpting in a virtual world game... LOL... I thought I was gonna have to distract and entertain myself by watching the paint dries on my wall... Thats not the case btw, turns out this character is really something else. The descriptions of his motivations to get money fills about 1/2 of the novel, and it makes the most interesting twist on the MC character compared to any of other novels... more>> and it creates a lot of hilarious entertainment. And the romance in this novel is pretty interesting too.

And you know what makes this novel a standout than the others? The MC social interactions and the battles. Unlike other game novels, this novel can really describe the scene of the battle, and it will burn you inside to make you feel excited about the massive scales of the battles.

This novel is on my top list of have to read as of now. <<less

RPG-themed (not otherworld) novel that I already read, watch, or know of includes SAO, Log Horizon, Shura's Wrath, Only Sense Online, and some others. Amongs them, this one is definitely one of the top. There is nothing cliche like in SAO, the plot twist is smart and exciting, some trickery and cunning action, MC not dumb naive guy although kinda greedy and dense, but above all, the story is well prepared and fun to read, some are really hilarious while some are so epic like Lord of The Ring.

Definitely a... more>> must read. <<less

The most amazing novel about virtual games rpg out there.

To my taste Sword Art online is great as is log horizon, so is Ark.

But LMS is definitely one of the best, if not the best, it's a masterpiece, each and every chapter is interesting the story flows naturally and everyone of the characters have it's own charm, a must if you like this kind of setting.
