What was even more shocking than how Li Wei won the world’s highest prize in theoretical physics at such a young age of 35 years old was the fact that he was found dead at home due to committing su*cide the day before the award ceremony.

In his letter to his student Jackie, he wrote: I have only been doing one thing crazily all these years, and physics is all I have. On the day it ends, the darkness will completely engulf me.

Many years after graduation, Zhang Man saw a love letter in her physics book while sorting her things out. It was signed by Li Wei. After his su*cide, she couldn’t eat or sleep at night, until one day she woke up and found herself back at the age of sixteen.

Here, we see our ML (Li Wei) wrote a love letter to FL (Zhang Man), but never got an answer and later gave up on living. When FL came back being first year high-schooler again, she did everything to make sure that ML has her with him in every step.

She approached him slowly knowing that he doesn't know her at the start of school, showed him the REAL WORLD holding hands when he found out he had been having illusions of 'people', showered him with bitter resentment+pain then eventually love... more>> while arguing about 'why he shouldn't leave her thinking it would help her being unaware how important he is in her life' etc.

When ML wanted to step back to stay with FL rather than stepping forward, FL came forward holding his hands, so that he'll go forward along with her.

My opinion: Manman and Li Wei are such a couple that make me wanna ask God, "Why not you give me a Li Wei?"

Manman's love for Li Wei and Li Wei's love for manman is something atleast I have long yearned to read or to feel. I sometimes like to relate myself with the FL of many novels, thus for me Li Wei is my salvation, the kinda person I want to have in my life. And the ending broke me completely. There are pile of emotions that I shouldn't write on a review, but Li Wei and Zhang Man were fated to be together. They are like the missing jigsaw puzzle pieces in each other's life. <<less

God, and anyone who reads this novel, knows how much I cried.

First I clarify that it is a Happy Ending, for those who have doubts.

It is a story full of love, mutual support and overcoming so moving that I am sure I will not forget.

... more>> Zhan Man is persevering, he knows his weak points and his strong points, using them in the best way to get ahead. If you think about it the kind of love she feels might be a bit crazy in another context, but here it's just perfect.

Li Wei may seem somewhat autistic at first, which is not entirely true, he is like that due to his life experience not by nature, that's why he changes a lot (at least with Zhan Man) when they start dating.

Both of them are just perfect together, and it pains me to remember how things ended in their previous life.

An excellent love story, although I recommend reading it alone to avoid crying in public. I don't remember when was the last time I cried so much :') <<less

Hmm... I guess I expected much? Before reading, I was hoping for a roller coaster ride of emotions and healing. Now that I've finished it, it was a bit lacking on those areas.

I don't know if it's because I've read similar stories before that the bar was raised high, or maybe I was bored of this kind of setting? Either way, it's still a good slice-of-life novel.

PS: The side stories were touching. Those were really good...

When I picked this up I assumed the novel to be your average "beauty saves the beast", the issues being brushed off and the love interest magically healing with the medicine of love.

I won't spoil any of it and will just go on to say that all of my assumptions were wrong, it's a heavy novel. I bawled a lot and it hasn't even been completed. The hurt isn't from random misunderstandings but the inhibitions, the fears and that comes with a relationship, and a relationship with a person suffering... more>> from the ailment of the mind are well portrayed. The characters are written nicely. The novel isn't revolutionary per se but it's pretty amazing at what it's ought to be. I highly recommend. <<less

It was actually their kid being interviewed 3 years after ML/6 years after MC's death as an old couple, retelling anecdotes of the couples married life together. Both Cute and Sad how ML relapsed in his illness after his wifes death and had visual and auditory hallucinations of her and thought she was still alive, then when he finally realized she was gone he followed and "went to look for her" and died shortly after.

I cried so much after reading this. Such a good story, slow pace but not boring. It is like, they give you the pain, the hurt, the depression, and then in a moment it become heart warming, yet still feel sad.

I love the FL, also the ML. They are destined to be with each other😭

I don't understand Chinese characters so I can only rely on the translated version. Although regretful because of this fact, I think highly of this novel for reasons that I fail to completely comprehend myself.

Read it. It is a story you may also want to remember for a long time. Maybe it can also able to rouse your desire to recognize people's hearts despite outward appearances and beyond the primary senses.

The way it is written made me realize somewhat, how mentally ill people truly feel. It paints a clear picture... more>> of how easily they can be misunderstood, how others can unconsciously hurt them, and how complex their emotions are. It felt real. My heart felt like it was pierced by needles, wishing desperately that they can be able to find peace in each other. This novel paints an enigmatic nature of love - salvation. It's raw beauty. Natural. Striking. Weakening.

It made me realize, wasn't I loved like that too? We all were. When His mortal body crumbled in anguish, his soul weakened for the bitterness of our sins, there in the garden of Gethsemane.

Psychological illnesses have always caused people to fear, feel pity, and feel unrelated to their suffering, wanting to help but realizing how helpless it was in the end.

I felt that in the novel.

Li Wei felt like a real person. His hardship, his struggle to make himself accept his disability, and his attempt to feel normal. It was real and it was heartbreaking. It made me think, that maybe at some point, all of us were actually like that. Maybe we were less fragile, with smaller and fewer scars, maybe we have it less but it is there.

That said, if you want to feel something, this novel is highly recommended. <<less

Can't believe I left this novel in my to-read list to collect dust for ages. The chemistry btwn the characters are so heartwarming, and the background of both ML and FL gives me all sorts of emotions I never thought I was capable of feeling. This is probably the most I've felt for two characters in a book. Don't repeat my mistake and leave this book out to dry, just read it. It's so good.

A lovely and touching story. It's quietly meaningful. Beautiful prose with physics analogy, real characters and their growth. A good short story for times you want to slow down.

Most of the ML's dialogues are so swoon worthy, so quotable. Truly beautiful. As for the MC, while it may seem that she's a little too enthusiastic/pushy towards the ML right in the beginning but I think it's still within the sense of logic. She has been grieving and suddenly came across the person himself, how intense must she be feeling -... more>> to save him, to amend her wrongs. At the same time, she truly understands the boundaries of ML, where to push, where to pull, the writing made me believe in her. It feels so real. <<less

I'm just thankful that there wasn't too much drama (ups and downs) in the leads' relationships or else my little heart won't be able to take even a bit of angst from them lol. Their love is just so strong, passionate and so full of courage that I just wish them all the best in life.

The FL and ML might think that the other loves themselves more but I believe that they both love each other just as much. To ML, FL is his light and salvation, while to FL,... more>> ML is her entire world and her reason for living. As much as ML seems to be the perfect partner for FL, I still believe that the MVP in their relationship is FL. If FL's love wasn't strong and persistent enough to stand ML's sickness, ML would've spiraled into the abyss like in the first life and he wouldn't pursue FL despite his possessiveness towards her.

FL (Zhang Man) rebirthed back to the time when she is still in high school and aimed to be able to save the boy that she regretfully missed in her previous life. You would think it's sort of cliche until you learn that ML has

schizophrenia and is suffering from delusions of having a mother (who is supposedly dead) and a friend (who he thinks help him discuss physics).

Just from that, you would be able to see how strong and fearless FL's love for ML is. She wanted to fully express her feelings for him at the beginning due to the excitement of seeing him alive and breathing in front of her but she suppresses it in order to not provoke ML and to not make him doubt her sincerity. Her patience, love, and sincerity were worth it since she still ended up getting ML's love. However, their sufferings only intensified after getting together. Thankfully, FL always, always wanted ML no matter what happens so she looked for him, waited for him, and stayed by his side all the time even if it meant working extra hard to keep up with ML.

ML (Li Wei) is tall, handsome, extremely smart, and gentle with a single 'flaw'.

He is suffering from inherited schizophrenia from his father and suffered extreme delusions that he didn't realize he was sick for a long time. His mother died while giving birth while his dad committed su*cide after almost killing ML during one of the dad's schizophrenic episodes. His grandfather then threw him into an orphanage after knowing his condition. Throughout his life before meeting FL, he got used to being bullied and discriminated against by other people so he gradually turned indifferent and cold.

At first, he was a bit wary with FL and thought that FL would leave him after learning about his rumors. With FL's hard work though, his heart moved for her, and got together with her right after learning about his feelings. Towards FL, he is inherently greedy and possessive of her, wanting to feel her warmth all the time and wanting to keep her by his side forever. For him, she is his angel and the only light in the darkness. After learning about the danger of his sickness, he stayed away since he couldn't forgive himself if he ended up hurting FL. With FL's courage and deep love for him, he became brave enough to face the future for both of them. ML was such an excellent boyfriend and later husband to FL.

There weren't that many side characters in the novel. It's great that there were only a few flies that tried to get in between them and they were easily resolved. I really liked FL's mom and her story though and I liked how she got her own happy ending.

A very good novel that makes you believe in love that is unconditional and can last forever~ <<less

I like the balance between the sweetness of the present and the heartache of the past. I wish I could read more soon since there's only around 40 chapters left. I look forward to the moment when Li Wei realizes his delusions. I'm sure he'll eventually be okay tho bc Zhang Man will be there for him. I'm just curious on how he would overcome his paranoia and hallucinations.

The first time I knew about schizophrenia was from the movie : A Beautiful Mind : a biographical drama film based on the life of the American mathematician John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics and Abel Prize winner played by Russell Crowe.

A few years later when I make a trip to my hometown, one of my friend told me about his husband. I realy really wish she knew about this mental illness, because from her story and desciption about her husband I suspected he was not crazy or struck... more>> by black magic but suffered a mentall illness called schizophrenia : (. That poor guy died on the street because he didnt get proper treatment.

I think this book may get inspired by this movie or the book (because the movie was adapted from a book), the MC also a mathematician and struggle with his personal life. What make it different is "the rebirth", which is very common in cnovel lol. I have to say this rebirth seem to be an answer for everything : redemption or revenge in cnovel. Yeah how I wish if only life can be rewind just like in the book lol. Despite the rebith thing this book was beautifully written, realistic and not too exaggerated, it's a bittersweet journey with the right amount of everything.

So if you like the book with eccentric or not common ML like "My Husband With Scholar Syndrome" or "When He Comes, Close Your Eyes", you will absolutely love this book like I do. <<less

Couldn't stop reading it.

I love the female lead, she doesn't give up and is very understanding and loving. She cares so much about the male lead so unconditionally that it hurts when she thinks about her past self.

The build up and plot is evenly paced; enough fluff and reasonable events occurring.

This novel is definitely a gem!! To think that there are only 84 chapters total... ; - ;

I cried, a lot. I loved this novel, that simple. I cannot stress how moving the relationship between MC and ML is. I can just recommend, don't read chapter 84 if you do not want to really bawl your eyes out. It's a touching chapter but I just can't... as I am writing this review I am crying so much. Anyway, please read the novel, you will not regret it

I don't usually write reviews but this novel.. My lord.. I can honestly say that I definitely place it on my top 5 list.

I honestly recommend it to everyone.

It's a really touching story, you get to learn from the characters about the hardships that they go through. It showed the purest kind of love I could ever think of and I feel like crying..

I also laughed a lot while reading it. There sure where some good scenes that I could not stop myself from bursting with laughter (like the video... more>> phone call one)

The ML and the FL are really likeable characters. I loved reading about FL going through the process of warming up the ML to her and I loved reading about how ML realizes his feeling. I felt sad for the ML when bad things happened in his life and I couldn't keep my eyes off of the screen at some times of the book.

The ending was also brilliant. In all honesty I cried like a baby. It was a beautiful ending.

Read it. It's really worth it. I know that I sure as hell don't regret doing it. How much I wish I had this one on paper. <<less

If there is a Best Male Lead and Female Lead as well as Best Couple award.. This would be one of the winners for all of them.

I usually write a long review to describe the characters and plot settings.. But I can't find the words to fairly describe this one. You just gotta read. There's a reason why it's one of the most highly rated in NU.

Also, I don't usually cry but the last side story almost got me in tears. It's too realistic and touching. Ugh my heart TvT
