Im immersed with the world here. The primordial life of seeking herbs, hunting, and grow stronger with power of tattoo/blood vein. The story is progessing for a better. The MC isnt overpowered, but his alchemist is making him having the advantage.

The first volume reach climax with war between tribes, and now beginning on 2nd volume. The only downside is the final battle of volume 1 is showing too much confusing technique, and I have to skip that part. The only thing I disagree is how MC select a beauty without much intelect as lover (well they are still young, its puppy love, but I hope the girl can grow more mature in the future). Other than that, everything is very good.

This is a hell of a ride.

Judging this novel based on it's first arc is not really great. The first arc is just about an innocent boy who was pulled into a messed up situation when his tribe was facing a crisis. He's still a naive boy who thought he is a hero that can protect his tribe.

But, just like Renegade Immortal, you will see a great development in character in the next arc when he was forced to be away in his home tribe. You will see the naive boy pushing himself to survive the unknown environment. You will see him as he slowly matures.

His character is still growing even in the third arc when he learned that his life is in control of another person's hand. Take note: this person is a third step expert while he is only a pitiful first step cultivator At that time.

Honestly IMO, this is better than ISSTH when you compare the character growth and the plot development. I'm not saying ISSTH is bad, actually it's a great novel, it's actually bad to compare the two cuz ISSTH has the humor PoT lacks.

It can stand next to RI honestly. This is one of the few novels where you see almost all the characters the MC interacts with are all scheming and cunning. Both novels has amazing character growth from naive village/tribal boy to a cunning top experts. They're similar yet different.

All-in-all one of the top novel for me in it's genre. Though you can expect Er Gen is a failure at romance, but that's a minority if you're not into romance. <<less

I am enjoying the read. The main system of cultivation is interesting. I feel as though the novel does suffer a little from its purposeful shadowy ambiguity (towards clouding the origins of the M.C) which hurts the world-building in the novel. But still very enjoyable with a good mix of varied cultivation, battles of wit, and action scenes.

One of the best novel I've read so far. First one I've of the Er Gen novel series, which luckily turns out to be the correct one to start with XD... since the series go from Pursuit of the Truth > Renegade Immortal > I Shall Seal the Heavens.

The stories is amazing, the author a good job showing the MC's growth throughout the plot. The MC go from a Naive and Hard working kid to an Old Monster that deals with matters with a philosophical mind and calm bearings. The... more>> story may start slow, but later on.. is a hell of a ride :) I highly suggest this story <<less

This is my 3rd book from Er Gen, I read it mostly because I wanted more books from the same universe as ISSTH, I really liked that book. I started reading this books few months ago but after 20-30 chapters if climbing some stairs I got really bored with it and I stopped. Few months later (about a week ago) I got back to it and continue reading it. I don't really like the combat here, it just uses long names for each technique but from the description they don't... more>> make much sense. They are ok in the beginning but later it gets worse. It's not that bad, I started ignoring the combat and I liked the rest of the story. Skipping part and combat and all the reactions (at least one time when no one was around the author started writing about how some people may have reacted if they were there.. It was really funny) made the read much better and much much faster so it went really well until the time has come for the MC to leave his home planet. Most of the authors of cultivation novels (that I read so far) have poor astronomy knowledge, but I think this book beat all the records. Basically here everything related to space is a "galaxy". So far I saw it used for: solar system, orbit, simple outer space between stars, nebula, empty space between galaxies (or I guess that's what it was.. The author talked at that time about a "galaxy with no stars", I'm guessing that this was what he was talking about but I can't tell.. That expression makes no sense at all), and many other uses that I had no idea what they were supposed to be. After some chapters I started just skipping any paragraph that had the word "galaxy" in it. I had enough of trying to make sens of what it was supposed to be. It's too bad because I kind of liked the main story but all this problems made it hard for me to enjoy the book. I barely managed to continue reading it because I wanted to see how it ends. If you don't have a problem with what I said above then it's an ok book to read, if not then I don't recommend it. <<less

I consider this is one of the few must reads, regardless of the ratings.

The novel is extraordinary in the sense, that it goes way outside of the standard cultivation mold that 99% novels here use. The first 200 chapters are just an introduction to the deep themes, that the novel goes into. The underlying plot of MC not knowing his past, sometimes not being in full control of his destiny with powers the level of gods pushing him around, him fighting against it, the theme of life and death, reading... more>> past and predicting future, how one deals with his destiny...

Not giving it 5/5, because I find the cultivation of MC a bit of a mess... great ideas like the painting, dreams, marks, creation and wills get side lined for a much less interesting cultivation techniques. Also the romance is bitter so far.

So for me a 4/5 must read. Some ideas in the story are extraordinary and you don't want to miss them. <<less

I want to like this novel but it tries too hard with the mysteries and trying to make the reader feel emotional. And the worse part is certain segments drags on and on. The closest example I can give without spoiling the story is imagine a single dinner could be talked about for 15+ chapters when you were already over it by the third chapter and wishing it would end by the sixth. Then the MC goes take a leak in the toilet and that's another 3 chapters. Ugh...

But there... more>> is a light at the end of the tunnel, because once you get to around chapter 250's, things only drag on for a few chaps and the story becomes more entertaining then. <<less

Secondhand version of Renegade Immortal.

The Author placed little effort into writing this novel. You can tell by how forced scenarios occurs in this novel. The fight scenes enemies just happen to appear at just the right time and are close to his cultivation level. The Romance is forced by a cliche she gets captured and he saves her scenario, then they have feelings for each other wow never saw that coming. The comedy is not funny but the characters are decent. The main problem is that Er gen moves the... more>> plot along by forcing scenes to occur. Er gen's worst novel by far

Read 20-50 chapters to see if you like it or not. If you don't like it bh then drop it there are better novels out there.

Okay here is my review for this novel

If you are the kind of reader who takes things in novel logically. Then prepare yourself because the logic in this novel sucks and stupid

Spoiler

in this novel, lightning is nothing but illusion, in short lightning is not exist in reality. So how does the lightning form ?

Lightning is formed because of void lightning and earth lightning meet.

What is void lightning ? What is earth lightning ? How do they form ?
No one knows about them.
When we are talking about lightning in real life, that's not how the lightning forms. The logic of lightning in this novel is so ridiculous and stupid. I know I shouldn't have related it to science since it's just a fiction. But I can't help it, I just find it very stupid.

Main Character

I don't really like the MC, I don't know why. Perhaps it's because MC is pathetic and reckless. And his homesick is annoying. But MC is still better than a spoiled troublemaker like meng hao.

but I really like the cultivation system of this novel. Where you have to draw your own mark, find your epiphany, etc. <<less

Meh, its decent. Compared to other novels in NU, this can actually get 4 stars. However the reason I gave 3 stars is that I expected better from Er Gen. Also the fact that he tries too hard to make this story an emotional rollercoaster becomes very annoying.

I've read 900 chapters of this and I was finally hoping :

Spoiler

When he wears the mask that makes him lose his emotions, he stops being a f**king crybaby and mans up a bit. But oh no although the mask can make him lose his emotions, it still "can't make the pain in his heart disappear". This MC annoys me endlessly, he is more similar to a pu**y rather than the "devil" as this novel would have you believe.

[collapse]

Also the plots are very forced, some idiotic sh*t happens so MC has to go somewhere. It was fine the first few times but when this is used every time to change a setting, it really makes you think if the author really couldn't think anything better?

There are some well executed plots and mystery as well, however it is drowned by the other parts of the story. If I were to rank it amongst Er Gen's work, it would be :

Renegade Immortal > I Shall Seal the Heavens > A Will Eternal > Pursuit of the Truth

Quality of Pursuit of Truth and A Will Eternal is similar, with this book being a bit worse overall while A Will Eternal sh*ts the bed after the midpoint of the story. <<less

One the best novel. I started to read it because I had nothing else to read besides clinche novel's. Ignoring the negitive reviews I started to read it because it is one Er gen novel.I knew it would at least have a proper storyline and it does not dispoint. Story goes on slowly but develop in a direction you would not have considered in the starting chapter's. Story development is slow than some but it's arc are still interesting. It a tipical Er gen novel if you like his work... more>> then it a must read.. <<less

The translator says he called them berserkers because they are highly civilized.
😄😄😄😄😒
I don't understand how a tribe which bathes in the blood of enemies as part of a ceremony could be civilized.
He says they are very advanced in technology.
They don't even have houses that can protect them from cold without piling hides on all walls.
They wear clothes made out of hides too.
Far behind 1st century AD for sure?

They are most definitely barbarians. They only reason to change it would be to avoid the awkwardness... more>> of the MC who in 1st person refers to himself as a barbarian. Of course there's also the fact that the transition can become unique because both Wuxiaworld transition of ISSTH and the previous transition of this novel call them Barbarians.
XD

The transition is subpar compared to Wuxiaworld's transitions of Er Gen's works.
Everything should be edited thoroughly because certain grammatical errors make certain clauses completely meaningless. <<less

Er Gen's worst story by far. If it wasn't an Er Gen story I wouldn't have wasted hours of my life to push through to chapter 120+, which is the word count equivalent of reading 4-5 ordinary novels.

The world is boring, the cultivation system is boring, the MC is boring and too much of the story is a forced attempt at making you feel emotional through overdescribed disasters and the MC's constant reminiscing. Some of the fights are also like a badly dragged out season of DBZ.

There are good bits... more>> but overall it just isn't worth the effort.

I'm glad Er Gen has gotten 100x better since he wrote this. <<less
