By the year 3029 CE, Earth’s technology has developed rapidly, borders no longer exist, and Earth has been unified, marking the beginning of the era of the Federation.

At that time, a huge sword flew from the heavens, piercing the sun and causing a huge sensation on Earth.

Perhaps because the scabbard of the sword was already in tatters, countless shards have broken off from it following the collision with the sun and spread across the universe. Many of these shards have landed on various places across Earth.

With the arrival of the bronze sword and its shards, a new unlimited energy source has suddenly appeared on Earth. This energy source has since been named Spirit Qi.

Spirit Qi is like air, thick in some places and thin in others. As the Federation and other factions gather more shards, they discover more information on cultivation, pill refinement, Spirit Stone refinement, and other techniques. The words on the shards have an ancient feel to them, making it a trend for people to use ancient language.

The appearance of Spirit Qi rapidly makes the original energy sources obsolete and has completely changed people’s lives. Not only has the Spirit Internet been formed, Spirit Qi has also changed the course of Human Civilization, causing the world to enter a civilization of cultivation. This would later come to be known as the Spirit Inception Era.

MC gets a cheat just like any other MC of er gen's novel

but this MC gets another cheat much later again, he also gets a senior sect brother for some inexplicable reason who often seems to arrive in time to save his butt

the first few hundreds of chapters are pretty funny and fun to read just like awe, but it quickly goes down once he gets onto the sword, it becomes very boring and is just another typical xianxia...

also 1 chapter a day makes it a pain to read since... more>> they're in the middle of a war right now... <<less

Don't know what the bad reviews are about. From the low ratings, I thought the novel was going to be bad even before I started reading. However, it didn't take long for me to be addicted. Er Gen's best novel yet in my opinion even though I loved ISSTH and AWE. Maybe the hate is from the fact that Qidian is doing the translating since they are an evil company that behaves exactly like the evildoers in chinese webnovels? Anyway, few authors have managed to draw me in but Er... more>> Gen is definitely on top of the list. <<less

Very boring 80chs. I'm surprised thats ErGen's novel, nothing new at all. Same crowd, same sects, same followers, same retards everywhere. You can find hundreds similar novels on Qidian. MC is fat so all humour is around his weight, should be funny for someone.
"I have to keep a low profile"- after a year, world's #1genius and Internet superstar. "i have to lose weight"-eating all the time. "I'm going to be a president "- offended every powerhouse he could. Didn't even tried to find allies, just weak to strong cheating.... more>>
All settings are irrelevant, low quality fanservice under ErGen's brand

Just imagine, there is a mediocre sprinter with no results. Once he was caught cheating and after ban he crashed every single world record in every discipline. In 6 months mediocre sprinter became a GOD lvl creature! Everyone knows he was a cheater. Suspicions? Investigations? Interrogations? - NO, he is just handsome and mysterious!
I hate this crap very much, for me this is a lazy writing <<less

Bai Xiaochun from 'A will eternal' reincarnated. All the plots reincarnated too. They are so similar it puts me off.

When the jokes get repetitive 38 chapters in, you know something is wrong. Considering that the story is currently at 628 chapters and still ongoing, I had to wonder how much more nuanced a fat joke could get.

From what I've read so far, this book is just one long fat joke.

Meet Wang Baole whose only two character traits are fat and asshole. I took Bai Xiaochun to be a novelty but it seems like we have another story about Bai Xiaochun... just fatter. See how I keep mentioning fat? That's... more>> what you should expect in this book. So far, the only character motivation is to be an official so he won't be bullied. That's it. 38 chapters in and that's the only hint of plot.

After thoroughly enjoying Beseech the Devil, Renegade Immortal and I Shall Seal The Heavens, I expected more than a gagfest from Er Gen. It seems like I was wrong as his writing has thoroughly changed. I'm not saying there's anything bad about his writing, but it's just not for me. I've read better comedies. I won't even be turning to this book for a laugh, sorry. Dropped. <<less

I have no idea why Er Gen made a very significant genre change to his recent novels. Usually Er Gen books would have good plot, determined MCs, a rich world building, growing characters, and portray a ruthless cultivation world. Last 2 books by him however had a complete change of tone, in which comedy comes to the forefront instead of the plot, and the MC becomes an idiotic manchild.

Both this book as well as A Will Eternal have basically the same MC, same jokes, same sects, same enemies, same fucking... more>> MC even. No longer will you feel that you're exploring a vast cultivation world beset with dangers, instead you're reading some slapstick comedy and repetitive boring jokes in a cultivation background. Just NO Er Gen, how can you f**k up this bad after classics like ISSTH and especially Renegade Immortal? ISSTH also had a funny protagonist, but that was protagonist done right and there was a serious plot afoot as well.

After these last 2 books, its probably only Mao Ni left who is still writing high quality xianxia novels. <<less

This novel is both funny and interesting as is to be expected from Er Gen. Interesting characters. Interesting twist on the cultivation system. When I got to the end of the published chapter I went back to the first chapter and started reading again.

So far, of all the other protagonists by Er Gen, the MC in this novel is most like Bai Xiaochun, the main character from A will Eternal. A mix of scheming and innocence that is funny and endearing. He is however his own character with a slightly... more>> different personality. For one he is less childish, as is appropriate for a college aged MC. MC is Machiavellian in his efforts to suck up to his teachers, having learned countless politician moves from reading countless autobiographies of past cultivators.

His schemes work epically until they moment the fail even more epically! A fun read! <<less

Six Dates.

The first date is love at first sight your partner is engaging and mysterious. Captivating yet oddly somewhat relatable. The date leaves you wishing it never comes to a close you are satisfied.

The second date is a cancel and just as well as it does not seem to feel right.

... more>> The third date is something that can only be summed in the word emotional. You are taken on an engaging emotional roller coaster. The end is bitter with no sweetness, yet profoundly moving in it's sorrow. Not satisfying but gratifying.

The fourth date it is... Perfection brought to life you are swept off your feet and shown things you never dreamed in your wildest a partner could show you simply spellbinding. You end once more in blissful satisfaction after being taken to heaven.

The fifth date is simply hell as though the previous were a lie your partner no longer feel's it's worth the effort to dress up for you, wow you, no your given in naked mess the message "what you see is what you get." you tough the date out hoping something will change and truthfully it is not that bad while a far cry from the last outing, pleasent moment's shine through on occasion making you grip fast to hope. This continues till it's ending.

The Sixth and current date, your date tells you they are going to be true to themself from here on in. This statement while praiseworthy in itself leaves you with solemn dread. As you fear the night proceeds in much the same manner as the last. <<less

The MC is so annoying, I had to drop this series early on. I hope it gets better later on, but the MC is dumb, the school professors are oblivious, and the setting is pretty stretched. I was trying to tolerate it because I wanted to give the series more of a chance to grow, but the MC is just so obnoxious that I can't stand to read another word about him.

The translations and editing are excellent, though. Props to Atlas Studios.

I love the work from Er Gen and I'm so happy this one gets finally translated! :) The MC is unique as always, well versed in the Dao of Shamelessness and his goal in becoming a official sounds like a lot of fun as well :) Really looking forward, only thing I'm sad about is db doesnt translate it on ww and we dont get the great memes for this novel : (

Wish we had already 600 chapters translated, dont get why this started just recently

The latest novel from Er Gen - the author of ISSTH, AWE, Renegade Immortal and Pursuit of Truth. This novel is a continuation in the shared multiverse.

Our hero - Wang Baole - is a shameless fatty who wishes to become the top official so that no one can bully him. To achieve his wish, he relies on his wits and a treasure cheat item.

The adventures of our MC are humorous and they will definitely bring a smile on your face. Yes, some jokes do get repetitive later on but Er... more>> Gen tries to experiment with new subjects.

The world building. Let's say the setting on Earth and that too in future is pretty much useless. There is really no technology except for internet. Pretty much xianxia environment otherwise.

I do advise you to read AWE before as there are subtle hints of this novel's world in AWE. <<less

All can really say is that so far it's great. I wish I could read Chinese so I could read all 600+ in one day. Plenty of comedy and emotions in his unique style of writing. Er Gen keeps making gem after gem. "Another one" as DJ Khaled would say.

Oh! How the mighty have fallen, I just can't handle this anymore, Er Gen's story has just gone downhill now. I thought he will fix his mistakes from his last book in this one, but no. Its a repeat of all of it with recycled jokes taking precedence over the overall plot.
I will not take it. Er Gen you have disappointed me for the last time!!

The people who give this story 1 star are clearly doing injustice toward this story. Many characters in this story are interesting and aren't bland and one dimensional compared to other xianxia novel. They get character developments! The plot in this story isn't repetitive compared to top rankings novel in this site.

That's why you must ignore ignorant people who give this story 1 star. They can't appreciate the art of characters developments. Hand down.

What kind of moron gives this book a one-star review?

Let me address the criticisms first. Yes, this book touches a lot of the same themes as Er Gen's A Will Eternal. Yes, it doesn't have quite the same atmosphere of solemn profundity that Er Gen's earlier books did. And yeah, Er Gen's recent decision to switch to more of an action-comedy style isn't necessarily a decision that will appeal to all of his fans.

But it's still a freaking Er Gen novel. I mean, really. Even if this book were exactly... more>> the same as A Will Eternal with a few names changed around as some people are suggesting, it'd still be better than 75% of the stories out there.

With that said, there are a few points of fair criticism about the book. Personally, my main gripe is that the setting is a lot weaker than many Er Gen novels; his decision to place the story in a near future Earth where spiritual energy has recently been developed feels a little uninspired and he hasn't really taken much advantage of the potential technological or societal effects that a change like that could cause (especially in comparison to a story that does do that, like 40 Millenia of Cultivation.) Instead, there's a kind of 'the-world-is-familiar-but-not-really' ambiance that isn't quite as satisfying as the intimate descriptions of sects and so on from Er Gen's previous stories.

Aside from that, though, it's a satisfying read. I find Wang Baole's distinct brand of venal gluttony sufficiently different from Bao Xiaochun's cowardly narcissism that the complaints other people have had about them being too similar don't really resonate with me at all. Instead, I think it's more like Er Gen is taking the chance to play with some themes that he wanted to use in A Will Eternal, but couldn't due to them being out of character for his cowardly protagonist. Having a protagonist that schemes and plots is a nice change from AWE (though reminiscent of ISSTH) and while the fat jokes do get a little bit repetitive early on, as time passes Baole's character rounds out a bit, even as he slims down.

Ignore the one-star reviews, this is definitely worth checking out if you liked ISSTH or AWE. <<less
