That was a short story but it really packed a punch! I enjoyed it so much and couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend. It's hilarious and just cotton candy sweet!

Cw: non-graphic bullying, foiled but thought of s*xual assault (mentioned but not explicit in the least)

I know that genres like this with "too long" chapters can get boring but too much time skipping can also ruin the romantic and character development (tho in this novel, I don't think there's a need for focus on the character development).

btw, there are side cps, which involves the cousin and the other side characters. Personally curious if there would be development between Sunken Moon and Fish God.. Wait, why the heck the author didn't bother to give them names aside from the cousin and MC's dormmate?? The unrelated omega rescue leader had a name but MC and ML's game friends don't?? Poor side characters lol

Sure enough, it's a really fluffy ABO novel. It has a fast pace (not too fast), and the plot was nice. The plot twists (?Reveal?) seemed natural and the things happening weren't too much for it to be a drama or dog blood novel, yet it's enough to keep up your interest. The main and side characters are really nice, most of them have personality to a degree, and their interactions (not just the MC and ML) are really cute. There are some side CPs (mainly one side CP and... more>> one implied one). Despite being an ABO novel, it had a nice ML who didn't fall for the MC because of pheromones or something vague.

Perhaps the only thing I didn't like was the ending, it felt a bit too fast for it to be ending and a bit fast, though I think it did avoid the situation of repetitive plot (which happens in a lot of mmorpg novels). Definitely recommend it to fluff lovers. Sorry for the bad English and have a nice day. <<less

Refreshingly sweet story with a bit of suspense 🥹

Not a drama-filled conflict, but it was 'enough' to spice up the story.

Our MC is a tsundere, but he's not annoying, really he's cute in a sweet way. Quite tough, and her tsundere nature just makes her character more lovable...

... more>> Our ML is the best. He fell in love first, pursued in a super epic way, the best PDA spreader, and he's Sexy 😭😭 he's like a yandere in a gentle way, he's possessive but reasonable, he's sexy and smart, and very loving...

I love how they come together not too slow but not too fast either. It's just right and sweet!!!

Bottom line it was one fun read.

This was a fun read! I rarely gaming BL web novels, so I'm really happy this one exceeded my expectations (＾▽＾) I'd recommend this if you're looking for a feel-good omegaverse story with low stakes!

What I loved:

  1. I love, love, love how Jiang Xiao was firm in his romantic attraction towards Yue Ran!

    Qin Xiujie couldn't deter him, Yue Ran's conditions couldn't stop him, nosy gossipers didn't faze him.

  2. I like how Yu was bold but not arrogant. He knows how to stand up for himself, but he never initiates unnecessary fights. In some BLs, I get turned off from reading when the author thinks making the bottom arrogant is the same thing as making them bold (ー_ー) They just end up as annoying to me. This author did NOT do that, which is great!
  3. Yue Ran's parents are so silly!

    Nothing wrong with stories involving unsupportive/abusive parents, but I like that both Yue Ran's and Jian Xiao's parents were good people. More feel-good content for me!

  4. The chapters set in the game was easy to follow as an ex-League of Legends player. I was kinda worried it would be boring, but it was pretty entertaining reading Yue Ran and Jiang Xiao's initial, online-only interactions.

Obviously, it's not a new trope for authors to use sci-fi elements to explain stuff in their story, but as many other readers pointed out, it was nice to see some effort put into this. Or maybe having chapters about Jiang Xiao and Yue Ran just chatting on private voice-chat about random stuff? I don't know. Still, I was eventually convinced Jiang Xiao loved Yue Ran after the story showed his efforts to woo Yue Ran.

Very lovely and cute, does have a lot of gaming scenes but they’re easy to follow. Not a lot of issues cons up and the offer that do are easily resolved. Good communication between the two leads and cute interactions with the side characters as well.

Short and enjoyable with a good mix or humour and fluff.

I think my favourite part of this was that the main character's dad gets into gaming too to support his son. I haven't seen that before in a gaming novel and it was really fun to see. The side characters in general were a highlight too.

The mix of gaming, college life, and omegaverse worked and the game content felt fun. I love the fat little chicken MC raised in game.

Really fun, fluffy, and cute. I love both the ML and MC, both are grounded and sensible. They take the issue of the MCs pheromones seriously and I love that the ML is realistic about finding a solution.

the MCs pheromones aren't "fixed" as there was nothing wrong with them in the first place. Its a very satisfying twist. I do wish the author had extended the plotline a bit more to include the other alpha attracted to the MC at the end, but I understand he was there purely as further evidence of the MCs pheromones being fine. A bit of rivarly would have been nice!

MC, Yue Ran, is a tsundere omega with pheromones that repels alphas. It's bad enough to cause their mouths to foam and faint. ML, Jiang Xiao, is an alpha two years older than MC.

MC meets ML in-game when they happened to buy the other half of the other's couple account. They then pretend to be a couple to help Qin Xiujie, MC's cousin/ML's friend, pursue his love interest.

While playing as a couple, ML falls in love with MC and then pursues him. However, ML resists since he is worried about the problem with his pheromones. ML still wants to be with MC even after knowing... wanting to remove his own receiver if needed. MC finally gives in and they become a couple.

SPOILER...

MC was schemed against and released his pheromones. ML smelled it and found it attractive. Turns out that MC's pheromones are selective. The alphas "quality" has to be above a certain threshold to find it attractive. Alphas below this threshold will be intimidated and have adverse physical reaction.

Cute chuuni tsundere MC and attractive handsome shameless ML haha. Giggled a few times at their hijinks.

The esports/gaming aspect is almost there, well used enough to create some tropes but in general a bit weak (but author says it’s not an esports novel anyway). The MC’s father being part of it was quite funny.

The ABO aspect fit in nicely, everything was quite feel good and expected even with the set up.

All in all a very hehe feel good kind of novel.

This was a pretty good novel! Nothing mindblowing, but it wasn't flat or boring. The characters were interesting enough!

I also appreciate how straightforward the MC and ML are. The ML could be barely considered manipulative imo, which is a breath of fresh air. ML wasn't manipulating things to directly try and to make the MC fall in love with him, just trying to get an opportunity. The MC isn't also wimpy/whiny which is a bonus.

The side characters may not be the most developed, but they're also pretty nice. The MC's... more>> cousin really carried, haha. Ah, and we love a supportive dad/family! It was cool how involved the dad was.

Some of the plot got a little bit complicated (a bit of guild politics/drama), but it didn't affect my enjoyment. The gaming terms were also understandable. <<less

A fluff filed story that is light for the heart hahaha. I like that it is MMO as I'm more inclined to it rather than a MOBA haha.

I really like a lot of stuffs here especially our tsuntsun Ran Ran and the explanation about his pheromones, I really love that detail. Its really fun and all but I can't give it a 5★ since I feel like its still missing a lot of stuffs, maybe the author just screwed up the pacing a little. I can't pin point what is... more>> lacking but made me feel like the story is incomplete. You know like author didn't even bother to name Sunken Moon and the rest, its a bummer cuz it made their characters incomplete more like an NPC. Like bruh even Ran Ran's old nemesis/admirer that only appeared briefly is named, so why not those nutjobs too? Btw I don't understand the certain people b*tching around the comment section on CG about ML. Like is it your first time reading BL, more specifically, ABO? If you are that whiny about a very subtle detail that is not even worth it to be mad about in an exaggerated "fictional" BL story, especially in the setting of ABO, better stay away from it as it just annoying seeing you Karens making every single thing a big deal. <<less

I was skeptical about reading this but I am so glad I did! I loved this so much. It was such a sweet and heartwarming little novel and I was surprised by how easily I was able to get lost in it.

It wasn’t completely a gaming novel, but at least half of it dealt moreso with ingame life rather than irl as we awaited him going to college. Then in became more balanced with ingame and irl.

Both the MC and ML were such a cute couple and I loved the... more>> cousin and friends. For some reason I’m always happy when the MC has doting parents instead of neglectful or deadbeats so that made me super happy. Plus the father was cute. <<less

Absolutely loved the story. Although short its fluffy and cute. The characters are likeable. The gongs passionate and cool.

The little omega is funny and independent, sly and cunning at times and still managed to remain cute. I adored them both. It's gaming novel but not heavily focused on gaming aspect, I would say well balanced between real life and gaming.

In conclusion enjoyable read.

I really like this type of story (online game dating and doting ML). The story is fluffy without much drama (almost none?)

ML - doting, like to feasts MC

Honestly I like “How to fail online dating” better because there’s more plot and character development, but this story is still a good no-stress read.

there aren't many bad points about this novel tbh... since the plot is not the main main focus of it (more of fluff I feel?). but I do wished that it was slightly longer? perhaps more chapters to describe their 'falling in love' journey and the slightly less abrupt ending :/ but there's something like a sequel or extra story about the side couple so hopefully the main couple also appears in there :)... more>> <<less
