As a good-looking Beta with a good family background, Duan Jiayan has lived a smooth sailing life for more than ten years, until he met Lu Xingci in high school.

Lu Xingci’s family situation is better than his, he is taller than him and plays basketball better than him. Needless to say, his grades are a whole tier above Duan Jiayan’s. Even his friends can’t help but occasionally praise Lu Xingci.

Most importantly, every girl that Duan Jiayan has set his sights on, all admitted that they have liked Lu Xingci for a few years already.

Since then, Duan Jiayan has never thought well of Lu Xingci, till the day he received his new medical report. He is a late-blooming Omega, and because he became an Omega this late, it came with dire consequences. Now Alphas will feel the need to beat up other people whenever they come near Duan Jiayan. He himself is now allergic to every Alpha’s pheromone, except Lu Xingci’s.

*

One night during a self-study session, Duan Jiayan became extremely uncomfortable and ended up asking Lu Xingci to bite him and leave a temporary mark.

After finishing the bite, Lu Xingci asked: “We Alphas have very bad tempers, now that I’ve bitten you, are there any rewards?”

“Why don’t you…” Duan Jiayan tentatively asked: “Be a little more generous?”

“Sure,” the other party kneeled slightly and tilted down his head, exposing his white neck: “Then you’ve to also bite back. Once you do, I won’t make a fuss anymore.”

Duan Jiayan: “…”

For the first half, the tension of pre-confession and slow burn was really exciting and almost spicy. Both characters are very likeable with some satisfying OPness, and the chemistry between them and the resultant slow burn build was a joy to read.

That said, a couple of things I wish were different:

  • Author likes to cliffhanger speech bubble and start the next chapter with the continuation without any reminder... my goldfish mind struggled to keep track so I think I missed out on some potentially feel good moments.
  • Dub con?
    Spoiler

    the third marking

    [collapse]
  • Smut... would have been hot. The teasers for the initial physical interactions were spicy; imagine how good the smut would have been haha
  • The fluff in the latter half was lacking that sort of spicy tension in the first part that kept it interesting. Sweet though. MC became softer, but I liked that he retained his sense of self toughness without turning into a weak omega trope.
Likely won’t reread this, but I did enjoy it.

This one must be one of the most refreshing ABO universe I have read so far.

There is no discrimination against genders, omegas are treated fairly and have the protection they needed. Almost everyone here (aside from 1) treats omega with respect, they were treated as human amd there were no rude remarks about their gender which is a +++ in an ABO universe.

MC is a beta who turns out to be a late bloomer omega. Being a late bloomer he doesn't have much awareness as an omega hence his my-pace... more>> and school tyrant attitude did not change. MC is bad ass in his own right, as shown when he beat up two alphas during his omega phase. He has a strong personality and mentality, he could be down and might question himself at first but he will immediately pick himself up. He is confident and knows what he wants and is not shy about it

As for ML, he doesn't take advantage of his alpha genes, there are times when he is tempted to do some light things but he knows how to keep himself check. (Well so far most alphas are respectful here)

And he might be one of the most lovable ML Alpha so far. He doesn't use his pheromone to his advantage to supres MC, he had so much respect and love to MC that MC's well being is his top priority. He knows when to take a step back and is pretty mature about his feelings and on their relationship but he could be quite childish at times

OVER-ALL THIS IS A SWEET AND REFRESHING ABO CAMPUS LOVE STORY FULL OF UTTER PURENESS AND FLUFF. A HEALING NOVEL. <<less

I saw someone write that the ML bullies the MC too much and the relationship is unequal. Complete bullshit. I don’t even know if they read the same story. The ML is quite patient and dotes on the MC. His ‘bullying’ is light-hearted teasing that would basically equate to friends teasing each other. If you take away their ‘status/title’ of alpha and omega, honestly the MC has the power in the relationship he literally has the ML at his beck and call.

Another reviewer also for some reason made a shitty... more>> ass reference of ‘it’s like if my friend turned shemale and asked me to lick her cooch’ to compare the ML and MC’s situation. The MC has a illness that makes him allergic to pheromones, he has two options one being contained for 3-5yrs but being a student that’s just not ideal. The second option is physical contact, temp mark, permanent mark. In which the MC picks, HOWEVER, the ML agrees first in chapter 10. So I have no clue what drugs that reviewer was taking when creating that tr*sh and ridiculous scenario to compare the two.

I’m all for ‘critical’ reviews but please make them RELEVANT and with actual THOUGHT. Y’all be misleading people.

Overall, I’m not going to be too critical with my rating. It’s a light-hearted read that isn’t meant to be thought provoking or deep. Helps that the ABO-verse here is relatively decent. No heavy dub-con or prejudice, omegas are protected as well. For what it is, which is a high-school teen romance, the story is a cute read. <<less

Binged this in a few days and I have to say that though it is relatively short, the characters in the story are still incredibly likeable. This is especially so for the MC and ML. It is especially heartwarming to see how the MC grows over the course of the story ... more>>
Spoiler

from a playful student that's always scoring near the bottom of the class to becoming one that has improved so much that he's asked to give a graduation speech for his cohort near the end of the novel. All this improvement is so that he can study in a university that is close to the ML.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a short and sweet ABO novel to read. Do note that there is no MPREG inside though! <<less

I think this is the best ABO novel I’ve seen so far; though there’s the typical chad alpha character who demeans omegas, it’s clear that this behaviour isn’t condoned by those around him. Duan Jiayan, the MC, is not about to accept it, either, and what I like even more is how he is helped by Lu XingCi, but he’s also capable of taking care of himself, and these two teaming up is for the most part out of mutual respect.

All in all I find it so refreshing how efficiently... more>> Duan Jiayan was able to talk to his mother and the nurse character about making preparations for being an omega, no shame involved, and I think that’s how ABO verses should be - respectful and organised. If a third of the population are omegas, of course society should accommodate their needs properly. The support system omegas have with their large group chat is a great detail, it’s so sweet.

Both the lead characters are charismatic and just easy to like. LXC seems like a stereotypical stoic male lead, but he’s considerate and for now not overbearing at all. They had a rivalry set up, but already it’s become next to nothing after what the two have gone through. It’s been really nice to read this!! I’m excited for more. <<less

Harmless.

This story actually has nothing bad about it, characters are nice, there is no forcing that is abundant between MLs. But at the end of the day this novel actually lacks substantial thrill. Because neither MC nor ML has any knot to resolve, there is also no antogonist to make things exciting, there is basically no drama. All potential drama, if it appeared, it was only a whiff of it, before it diseappeared into nothingness. That's why the story goes about whatever in a very harmless way.

The only harmful thing... more>> was about high schoolers who are basically 17 smoking and drinking from time to time :'D <<less

Not the typical abo, where omega is only seen as birth machine. The romance is kinda smooth sailing and comfortable to read. I love the story only until the "3rd nape bite" (I still like it, but declines a lil). After that, the repressed emotion of the ML became a lil uncontrollable. Before, he had shown complete respect with MC but eventually he kept forcing the MC a little. Since the MC is naive, I feel bad for him ? ML still didn't cross the boundary yet due to the... more>> stress disorder of MC. Kudos for ML's self control, very seldom in ABO

When I've read the first half of the novel, most some of the scenes did not follow the cliche story so I was hoping too for something different at the end. But it fails my expectation.

Overall, I love the story. This is better compared to the other omegaverse focused novel. Concise and well written ?

It's nice story. Suit for quick read.

But in my point of view, I'm disapoint at MC so I give 3 star.

the writing skill a bit lacking...

... more>> MC is lack of common sense and casual cross the line when they just friend, author give some excuse but I can't buy it.

When author want MC to do something, author give reason/condition then MC just casual go for it. It's very cheap move and unnatural. If ML not have feeling this is really forceful to pin man down. And MC just say 'hey I think of you as friend so it's ok!'

When I think it not OK ! It feel like my male friend turn to be shemale then ask me to lick her pu*sy and said it's ok bc we friend... it's not normal move! Even which s*x it is.

MC always jump a gun, do something too forword. I think it might better when they are couple but it's not.

Author bad at writing how to pile up the characters feeling, just move forword with action again ànd again so it's not deep, only poppy love /shool love story. Not have any impact.

More importantly author use popular word /sentence in cn bl novel to descripe MC look. When he 170 cm tall beta before, He easy turn to be white skin delicate small face omaga time to time....

I espect tiger but it turn to be playful kitten. orz

I like Shen Chilie I hope it have ten years later or something but not it end at wedding day that all.

Read another review for a good point I just give you bad one haha <<less

Ahhhh!! So nice! This is one of my favorite novels yet!! Im so excited for the next chapter! Ahhhh!! The MC and ML is sooo cute together!! Ahhh cant wait for the kissing scene. I especially like how the MC isn't weak and waits for their knight and shining armor to save them like most novels! Ahhh!!!!

So aggrieved, waiting anxiously for the next chapter and possibly kissing scenes. Hehehe~

Very much recommended. One of the best ABO novel I have ever read.

The relationship and gradually progress of chemistry of ML and MC was so beautiful, hilarious, sweet. ML was one of the best MLS out there. And MC was not a beautiful porcelain doll. His character was quite amiable, upright and carefree.

And most important point, this is first ABO novel I have read in which MC plays basketball very well, not acting like cheergirls who come to just watch the match.

(Like in bg school romance, in bl... more>> also they generally follow the same routine, like the shou would casually visit the court and see the ML shining in the court, tsk so cringy) <<less

This is so good (◍•ᴗ•◍) ❤. Like previous reviews said, discrimination against omegas are almost non existent in this (except for some s*upid baboons). And everyone is friends with everyone regardless of their second gender. It is truly refreshing. The couple is really really cute too (˘ ³˘) ♥

I don''t particularly care what a novel gets across, as long as it's entertaining. I agree with other reviewers that this is a rare ABO novel where omegas are not treated like chattel. But, the story is dry and it was hard to muster any enthusiasm to continue on with next chapter. 51 chapters was as much as I could push myself with this novel, and I still couldn't like any character.

it started off pretty nicely I think but as the novel kept going, I really got tired of it. It's just lxc chasing djy and djy being oblivious. And honestly im just not really a big fan of ABO in the first place so I got a bit fed up with the stress disorder turning djy into the typical omega shou/uke character. It's just not really my type of story.

i couldn't bring myself to like neither MC or ml. It's like their whole personality is campus hottie and school tyrant... more>> or smth but that was barely shown, especially the tyrant part imo.

also I usually like side chars in novels but in this one they all felt so flat that I sometimes even forgot who they were. Also a personal thing but im not really a fan of the fujo type side char like gu li. The only side character I liked was song yi and he didn't have that much screen time

the writing is meh and there wasn't as much realism school wise as I usually like in school life BL, especially since it's ABO. Like im literally the CEO of top student x delinquent trope and this was ehhhh

anyways the beginning half was entertaining at least and it's not too bad but it's nothing special either. <<less

I really like campus danmei and this one is no exception. The relationship between the two were fluffy and there were barely any misunderstandings. I really liked how their relationship developed. My only misgiving is how it became somewhat dull around before the end.

This novel is really really cute. I've been putting this off because some of the reviews deterred me but I'm really glad I read it!

First of all, despite a lot of the reviews on here, I don't really find the MC that dense? He's just carefree and lacks a little common sense but it's not something that I really noticed or minded. I liked his naivety.

Second of all, I went into this think the ML was going to be super gentle because of reviews (which is another reason why I... more>> couldn't get myself to start, I don't want an overly gentle ML, I want a wolf!) but I was wrong! The ML is gentle but he is also quite possessive and lustful and he doesn't hide it at all. I do think that the reviews that say the ML isn't forceful are not entirely accurate. There are like one or two scenes where the ML kinda just has his way, but the MC actually likes it so I don't mind it. Just a little warning for people who absolutely cannot read those scenes. But he really does treat the MC well and is remorseful when he did something that he thought the MC didn't like.

Overall I really like this story. The characters are well developed and really likable. The author has managed to make an ABO story without toxicity and unbalanced power dynamics. I would definitely recommend for fluff lovers. <<less

I really wanted to read the nice translated chapters with good english but even after a year its not completely translated so I MTLed it. This was my second time MTLing a novel and its mtl was bad. It wasn't enough to cause me frustration but still my enjoyment was halved and I had to make sense of a lot of stuff. So mtl at your own risk!

Now, putting aside the mtl quality, I personally don't really like ABO and don't read ABO novels at all. The story is yes... more>> very unique for an ABO as most reviews has mentioned. Omegas are not treated as animals and have a lot of protection rights and its not all about Alpha supremacy. But for me, it wasn't as good as people hyped it?I mean the start was really good, we got our shou who's the school bully very nice personality, strong and independent and a really gentle gong. Their interactions were very sweet from the start. Even after becoming an Omega, the shou was still powerful and I loved how he could overpower even Alphas. The moment the gong realized he was in love and his confession literally took my heart away that I even felt like crying. He was so patient and gentle and waited for the shou to fall in love with him never suppressing him by his pheromones. But after they became a couple, the romance just became flat? The shou who had a wild personality totally became domesticated and shy (not as much as other shy shous but still!) I mean yeah you wanna do whatever your lover desires but even I know your personality can't do a 180 just because of love! So there goes his wildness and he becomes your typical shou and the gong was even though really gentle and all but

Spoiler

Even though he promised that he'll listen to him in the future, he basically didn't? It was mostly the shou relenting and the gong was just incredibly possessive even though he never forced him +1 for that

[collapse]

On the other hand, their relationship was slow and steady. They did everything in proper order and it was nice and cute and fluffy but I actually wanted some passionate smut, you know? Yet I got nothing! Not even some vague details! This being an ABO and with the tension between them whenever they were intimate I thought I would get a great smut atleast once but no! It was only mentioned they did it. Yes, thats it!

Main story covers their highschool life and the extras cover their moving together, marriage and lifetime marking.

About their marriage and lifetime marking,

Spoiler

I was actually disappointed that there was no proper proposal. The gong just mentioned it when they were in bed. More disappointed in shou because the dude clearly said he will propose to gong in a romantic manner that actually moved gong so much but he never did so? Like I was literally waiting for it through out the novel! The lifetime marking one was good because shou really initiated it even knowing how much pain he had to go through and I really loved all the sweet stuff the gong said while doing it.

[collapse]

The side characters were funny but not really well fleshed out. They weren't even give much background information. Tho, their friends and families being super supportive of them was really a nice addition.

The chapters even tho seem less in number but they are really long in length so the reading process is smooth but a lot of times the scenes were just cut abruptly and next scenes started. That was a bit annoying.

Did I enjoy it? Yes, but not that much. Even tho I gave it 4 stars the same I give for other cute time pass novels, it deserves these 4 stars more than those novels as its clearly better than them. It can be read to pass some time but obviously you will have better time reading this rather than other dry time pass novels because its still enjoyable! People who like just sweet romance and nothing else will love it.I wrote this review based on my preferences so don't hate on me please! <<less

This is your standard fluffy school romance with the addition of the omegaverse setting.

As a former beta turned late blooming omega, MC is fairly ignorant about the birds and the bees. Therefore, he is initially confused by his relationship with ML, believing that ML tolerates him only due to their high physiological compatibility. Thus begins the slow process of ML pursuing MC. Together, they are fairly sweet and cute, although sometimes the change in setting as well as time frames is brisk. In one paragraph, everyone will be preparing for... more>> their midterms, and in the next, midterms have already passed.

Nevertheless, a very fluffy and quick read practically devoid of any drama. <<less

Super adorable!!! Although MC was super dense, he does figure things out fast enough that the story doesn't drag on.

Although I'm still confused as to when exactly ML realises he likes MC...

The side characters are all pretty funny too.

this is a good ABO story. Its so rare to find a normal ABO story. No Stockholm syndrome. No r*pe. No forced pregnancy so far. I like how normal ABO happen in this world. They respect each gender.

the MC is cute. He is a normal student with a late bloomer omega. It suck. But he got it and can live with it. There is no denial and he is quite mature for it. Sometimes he exploded but normal for teenager I think. Not because he is an omega.

the ML is... more>> my hero. He respect his omega and not overprotective about it.

i cant wait to see how this story developed. I hope it wint be just another ABO story. <<less

Well-written, without the weird grammar or phrasing you find in some other translations. I also appreciate that this is an A/B/O world where all genders are treated equally, so you don't see anyone making disparaging comments about omegas, for example, and if they do then they get scolded or punished for their behaviour.

There's not that much romance yet, so I'm waiting anxiously for the next chapters to be translated.

I definitely recommend this story.

The first half of the novel was 5 stars, I loved the headstrong MC, but the plot just lost steam halfway through and felt very monotonous to read. The MC becomes more submissive, and just loses a bit of his edge. I had to push myself to finish reading this. Definitely had a lot of wasted potential.
