The Story makes very little sense. The first few chapters are okay but it quickly devolves into nonsense as the female characters turn into mindless moe blobs and the MC despite apparently being average oneshots every big name somehow. None of the fights are earned. The author keeps hyping up all the mc's opponents like they're the best of the world or whatever but the MC just keeps oneshotting everyone, with the convenient excuse that "well he got wounded" that gets cured in a chapter. Nothing ever has bad consequences... more>> for the protag, he never loses, he is never in risk. The fights suck.

It's really bad.

Also the protagonist is quite frankly just too much of a dense moron, and many of his antics make 0 sense.
Spoiler

At one point his "future self" comes back and tortures an a once-antagonist. The protag knows this and decides that the best way to cure her traumatization is to torture her further. The biggest issue is, the author doesn't write this from the perspective of "hey the MC is kinda crazy", the author writes is as if it was his only option and was the right one. Yup, had to torture that person bro. 12 year olds on this site unironically believe in sh*t like sigmas and betas so they worship Xianxia-like maniacs like this MC but it gets tiring very quickly.

[collapse]

Stuff that makes 0 sense like this are spread everywhere in the novel, where the protag acts in a manner that is absolutely insane and yet the author writes it as if it were the sole option available.

Also half the girls in the novel are antagonists-turned-gf by stockholm syndrome, which again makes no sense but hey, that's a WN for you. <<less

It could have been placed as one of the top tier series if only the execution of some of the plot development is perfect. I'm reading the reviews and it seems that there's a lot of harem fanatics who's talking about another user's review who I would assume made a subpar rating. I can't see the lower rating review which makes me think these people or the translator purposely hide it to put the favorable reviews into the pedestal.

I find it ridiculous and funny with how the harem fanatics of this series really did try to justify how the MC is not a simp. There is no doubt the series for the most part is okay, except for the inconsistencies and bad development. I can definitely understand if some people gets annoyed by the hypocrisy of the MC. Added to the fact that author is continuously using a repetitive development which makes it boring in the 2nd half; sure you will get a lot of annoyed readers about this.

This is the perfect example of a simp MC being disguised as a pure "alpha". MC's blatant hypocrisy and certain bias towards female characters is really disturbing. If he's not a simp, why would he try to find reasons just to justify the s*upid actions of the people he simps. That's the irony and hypocrisy of the series, if MC is a true alpha like what some of the reviews claimed then why would he easily gets influenced by some of the characters just because he likes them. If they're doing something s*upid then why justify their action? Most of the reviewers claimed MC doesn't hesitate to correct certain actions of some characters/girls yet he himself is hypocrite by justifying some of the people he has certain bias. If that is not a plot hole, bad development, inconsistent as opposed to what is being portrayed; then I don't know what do these harem fanatics think of it. MC is a simp for his harem, that's the truth. MC's action in regards to not bowing to nobles is good, we can say he's alpha in that area, but a true alpha will always be in control of their emotions and decision making. They will not justify s*upid actions of someone just because of their certain bias towards a person they like. I will stand by my opinion here, the story is fantastic however came crashing and became just the typical harem novel with a lot of typical cliche and annoying females. Goodness I can't even stand some of the childishness and st**id actions and personality of some of the heroines. I've also read the series in hangul so I can definitely attest that the series has a good writing style with a unique use of hanja. I don't care if the novel has a fantastic writing style and beautiful use of poetic hanja. A novel is all about plot and development, if a novel shows st**id development, shows hypocrisy and questionable action and development contrary to what the character is being portrayed, even if the writing style is good with poetics, it's still a tr*sh development. It's easy to claim the series is perfect, won awards and loved by many Korean fans, however to debunk these argument, those Korean people who supports the series is a same bunch of harem fanatics like these people. It's so easy to defend and to ignore the s*upid development and hypocrisy if you like the series.

Aside from these cons, I do admit the actions and fighting scenes were good. I'm not an entirely hater of harem. If a harem was done in a fantastic way with good development then it's fine. But if you will add harem just to confuse the MC and make him dumb and hypocrite then it's a tr*sh development. Overall, the series is just normal, not great and not perfect, except for harem fanatics of course.

[collapse]

Aside from what I mentioned here about the harem/heroine issue, there's also a lot of problems and inconsistencies in the story that needs to be addressed. Ranging from the worldview, plot development, MC's portrayal and etc. If anyone of you wants to know more about it, you can dm me or I can start a thread on forums and discuss the plot holes of the story. <<less

The story is set in a magic academy in a world where monsters and demons exist. The twist here is that the protagonist received letters from the future that force him to contemplate on its significance, act on it, and destroy elements early on that could lead to the destruction of the world. This story is very similar to Golden Light Gratia The Child Loved By God, where the..

The story focus a lot on its dynamic harem romance, so fans of romance that also don't mind (or enjoy reading) harems will definitely like this, especially being tagged under polygamy. The story has a very strong depiction of character development that are build by romantic interactions, which I perceive to be the web novel's biggest strength. The story also has a good depiction of its action scenes in text. It is quite easy to imagine what the hell is going on during the action scenes.

A weak point of the web novel? I guess I'd say the violent tendencies of the protagonist, although it is still within the realm of reason. It doesn't help that most of the heroines that the protagonist interact with are assertive, prideful bullies. Emma and the Saint are the only sane heroines where the protagonist doesn't have to act on his violent tendencies. You could say that the protagonist is not arrogant but he is also not a pushover. He is the embodiment of "an eye for an eye" but returning it ten-fold.

The actions of the future protagonist, however, are...

Spoiler

... wildly violent. He tortured some of the heroines in the present time to the point it traumatizes them. It makes me wonder that the hell these heroines did in the future for the future protagonist to go so far. I can imagine the potential of these heroines turning to villains themselves because of their prideful nature that look down on others when they were still young students, and I am also looking forward to how it is revealed in text.

I agree with the other low star reviews. I think it'll probably come down to preferences over how you prefer your MC's character to be written. I can take a 'dumb' MC if it's comedic, or if he lived isolated all his life and is learning to interact for the first time (I like those).

However this MC, who has a normal (even privileged) upbringing, is dumb as a brick, in regards to IQ & EQ. And like someone else said, it has a serious tone, not comedic. So it's quite... more>> grating and angsty to read... every single move he makes in the first 15 chapters, and everything that comes out of his mouth has me scratching my head... Granted, I've only read 15 chapters, but I don't wanna dedicate to read 50-100 more chapters to see if he develops common sense. He also does feel bland af, maybe a personality comes out later.

Some spoilers on why I can't follow this MC's line of thoughts

Spoiler

The biggest thing for me is the letter from the future. I get it, if you got a letter from the future, you wouldn't believe it either, you'd think someone snuck it into your room as a prank. But to have all those 'spectacular' events at the same time... you would probably test out the part about your best friend dying in a few days right?

He can't remember the last week of school, where apparently from other's descriptions, he is convinced someone else had control over his body. Someone who seemed comfortable in his body/knew people, and had much more fighting experience. At same time, he was also having an apocalyptic like dream about the future. His strength and mana are considerably improved, and when he woke up, he found a weird letter from a future lover. In that letter, talks about how one of his best friends is going to be attacked by a beast on a specific day. He goes to the girl on the day she's going to be attacked, thinks about telling her about it, says nah, 'have a good day!' instead, and she dies... This part already has you pretty angsty, then the next chapter....

He still think's 'maybe this letter is some prank', the next day, but decides that he's going to trust it regardless... ok? and so what is he gonna do to prevent the apocalypse? Is he gonna start training, getting stronger and informing people, building up his 'team'? Start researching this mentioned 'traitor god' that has something to do with the end? Nope, he's gonna start trying to seduce the women around him because one of them must be his lover from the future... and he should find her because.... they should reconnect.. why? I don't even know.... I DON"T EVEN KNOW!!!!

And other small stuff that grates me like MC will speak rudely to someone who's not being rude to him, and when people point it out he goes 'oh well I already said the rude thing, so what's left to think about?'... Like idk maybe change that shitty personality so it doesn't happen next time? They're not asking you to go back in time dips***....

[collapse]

At that point I was like 'oh so maybe this is a comedy, that I just don't find funny'. But then I went to this page, and saw there's no comedy tag. So I don't think they were aiming for comedy... <<less

the novel is really good with portraying romance it shows the struggles between teenagers and the MC trying to deal with it. The fighting is alright but since it's a novel focused on romance so it's alright, the world building is good and the characters have really good individual making and development, now for the pros and cons

Pros: really good novel and mommy saint seggss and cons:none I can find

Our story follows the son of a countryside viscount, Ian percus, who is fresh out of f*cks to give and the arrogant nobles have to pay for it. He's got good footwork, a trusty hatchet and a mastery in beating women. I reckon that countryside viscounty is Scotland.

I'll stop with the jokes and start with the actual review now.

The MC is without a doubt one of the most unhinged characters I have seen since Isaac from the novel 'Isaac'. It isn't just being unhinged for the sake of being unhinged.... more>> There are things that piss him off and he absolutely won't tolerate, what does he do when those things eventually happen? He takes action. He puts on the fighting gloves. Of course its not all mindless violence as the situations that can be resolved without violence are usually peaceful. Usually. The MC is very dense (harem tag) and will absolutely refuse to use his brain when it comes to normal human relationships which a stark contrast to him when he's fighting.

It does have the usual shenanigans that occur in any generic harem novel with a neutron star as the protagonist. Its not like its all bad. The main cast is more than one dimensional. They've got goals motivating them. Things they wanna achieve. People they want to become. People they don't want to become. And plenty more.

Well now, I can't really say much about the plot without spoiling it but its got little bit of mystery. The letter is the key. We have to piece together the puzzle with the protagonist as we go along but that is usually on the back burner and the start of the novel is more about the situations the MC gets in as a result of trying to complete this puzzle more than anything. <<less

Love Letters From the Future centers around Ian Percus, a viscount's son who one day mysteriously receives a letter from his own future self warning of impending disaster. This catalyst pulls him into a thrilling adventure full of political intrigue, demons, and romance.

The time travel premise via letters allows for an unpredictable, fast-paced plot as Ian works to unravel the mysteries and avert catastrophes detailed in each new letter. He's an endearingly stubborn protagonist who charges headfirst into conflict, witty but decisive. Supporting characters feel realistically complex, with engaging dynamics.

Action... more>> scenes are a highlight, vividly described blow-by-blows as Ian punches above his weight class against incredible odds through sheer grit. He’s an underdog who never gives up. The magic academy setting also shines with a fully built world and hierarchy. Hints are dropped about a much broader scope beyond the school.

Romance plays a substantial role, centered around a harem structure. Some may be turned off, but relationships develop organically from friendship and trauma bonding. Ian maintains his convictions when facing feminine influences. The diverse heroines have agency and their own growth arcs.

In summary, Love Letters From the Future succeeds on multiple fronts - thrilling action, high stakes plot, lovable protagonist, and well-written heroines. It deserves more attention, especially for action fantasy fans who don't mind romance elements. With a novel premise and stellar execution, this is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. <<less

Alright. I'll be honest, this novel caught me off guard. I expected it to be the usual regressor power fantasy where he just smacks his schmuck around to to victory.

Although it still has similar tropes to it the way the story so far has been refreshingly different. I greatly like the fact that he doesn't get randomly overpowered out of nowhere but on life and death situations, it gives you a sense of growth and 'struggle' that we don't see very often these days.

The actions scenes are very fleshed out... more>> and greatly explained that I could basically imagine the whole fight in my head.

Some users complained about the sudden POV changes that are affecting their 'immersion' but I honestly haven't noticed it at all until I specifically saw it mentioned for the first time so it doesn't affect me.

As for the characters I got a few words.

Okay, first of all personality of the MC is typical of most novels. The dense but honest kind guy. Though he truly shines during some of the key moments that I won't spoil in this review. I'll just say that when the hatchet is out you know they're about to find out.

Heroines, I'll focus on only the first two (Seria, Celine) Seria is your 'Cold but secretly just socially awkward' type, but given her backstory and the way she was treated by other students it made sense, unlike other stories where it's just inserted without cause or reason. also some yandere vibes

Finally, Celine.

Okay hear me out but I can't stand this woman for the life of me. She's contradictory and downright awful. It's as if she was just inserted as a childhood friend for the sake of it. She wanted to revive her fallen noble house but focuses on mundane and ridiculous things. Especially during her

sure it was because of misunderstandings but the way she initiated the whole ordeal is bad.

Conclusion: There's lots more I want to say like side characters and the remaining heroines but I feel like I don't know much about them enough to say.

Haven't made it too far (novel has 600+ chapters as of when I'm writing this) so I can only make a review on the early-mid academy arc. It's a solid novel, but you really fail to find much 'plot'. You're mostly greeted with love troubles/harem drama at the start. Though, I personally enjoy the novel and look forward to reading more when I get around to it.

I really didn't care much for the story or the characters. This novel not having any weird age gap issues typically found in regression stories still squanders the romance potential by having an incredibly dense MC.

The overarching plot and mystery has interesting components, but its mainly overshadowed by the romance.

The fights are genuinely amazing though and carried the whole thing for me. So well choreographed and adrenaline pumping. There's a lot of human vs human combat here and its not mainly human vs monster.

Even characters I usually wouldn't care for... more>> become cool once they show competent fighting skills. Really, I wish the novel focused more on the fights and had more proactive antagonists, than focusing on the lackluster romance and SOL. I dropped the novel, cause we were at an arc that was mainly interactions and human vs monster which is not my cup of tea, but if this author makes another work more suited to my tastes, I'll definitely try it. <<less

Too Good to pass 5/5.

The novel in short is about Ian's program for a rehabilitation center, promising results with a bit of blood.

Also, the author likes the saintess a bit too much, she is the only character who is not subjected to Ian's special treatment.

Hello there,

it narrates the story of a man who one day receives a letter from the future which appears to come from a future lover. The letter basically mentions events of the future and the protagnist acts accordingly to avoid a future disaster.

The premise of the story is interesting and the execution is done well; characters feel coherent as so does the world the story transpires. Not to mention there really good fighting scenes which are really well written. Also, the translator is extraordinay.

I feel it deserves a 4,... more>> if being honest, but since I have enjoyed quite a lot for its execution and originallity I will give it a 5/5. <<less

When I first started reading the novel, I was sceptical of the progression at the start, but I braced through the first few chapters, and now, with full confidence, I can say that this was the right choice since the later chapters are just a blast to read. And I don't really want to put on any details since I don't want to spoil it for anybody reading since its its best to read and experience the epicn moments yourself.

I'm not quite sure, but it seems there has been a... more>> previous translation before with all the chapters since the original KR seems to have been completed, so I wanted to ask the readers who've already finished this novel about a few things.

One thing that's been bordering me ever since the introduction of the harem dynamic was the potential loss of a love interest due to the protagonist's denseness. And from what I've read of the future Ian, he seems to be cold hearted and ruthless, making me assume that in the previous timeline, he didn't give much importance to the love interests.

So my question is, in this current timeline, does he get together with all the love interests, for example, Celine, Saintess.

But yeah, going bac to my review, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's a fan of action and harem stories based on an Academy setting, and compared to the current translator's other works, this stands above the rest for me.

If you enjoy cat fights and drama between love interests, and enjoy a badass protagonist who's also kind hearted and fun to follow, then yes, this novel is for you.

The novel's biggest strength is the relationship between the characters. For me at least, that's what keeps me waiting for the next chapter.

Thank you for reading this if you've read this far, and to any of the veteran readers who've read this, pls give me a brief confirmation as to whether he gets together with the love interests. <<less

I think love letter from the future is a great novel with a very interesting setting. I personally really enjoy novels with an academy setting and the character dynamics are very enjoyable. The novel is harem, one of my favorite genres. The main character Ian is really dense, but thankfully it isn't as dreadful for me to follow along with as the typical Japanese main characters in romcoms. The world-building is very well-done.

Okay, right off the bat one of the hardest things to withstand in this novel is the action scenes. If you don't know a single thing about martial arts or swordplay, please don't write excruciatingly long flight scenes. Even if the author took a couple of boxing classes it would reduce how utterly senseless the fights are.

The main character isn't particularly likable. He is too s*upid and too prone to violence.

I managed to gloss over that because the premise of the story and the world seemed promising. The thing that... more>> broke me is women being written by a man *badly*. The depictions of women are deeply sexist.

Initially despite the promising plot and well written battles there were various aspects of this series I found pretty off-putting... and I still do to be honest.

Ian is an arrogant, dense, blockhead, with little in the way of redeeming features and some serious anger issues. The heroines and side characters aren't much better either, but their stories are slowly culminating into something and while I still dislike most of them I am curious to see where that's going. It also makes them feel more multifaceted and less like one dimensional... more>> walking tropes.

Largely the most unappealing aspect to me personally is that the author spends entirely to much time sexualizing every single female in the story, repeatedly, ad naseum. I get it, and I know what genre I'm reading. It's a harem and people are here for the waifus, to some extent I am too I won't lie. The problem here is that the author will frequently break up what should a very tense moment to emphatically reiterate how gorgeous whichever female happens to be present in the scene. It feels awkward, incredibly out of place, and breaks immersion completely.

Despite the initial distaste I powered through, by virtue of lacking anything else better to read, and as the mysteries of the letters slowly unfolds I find myself more and more intrigued by whats going on and where it will go. It can feel pretty formulaic at times but with Ian almost always being on the back foot to some degree it maintains tension, and it's a nice break from OP munchkins and eternally suffering weak protagonists. It's a nice middle ground I don't see too much in webnovels. Ians abilities and weapon of choice are also pretty non-standard, which further accentuates this series uniqueness.

It takes a while to really set up, and not so great pacing doesn't help, but you could do a lot worse and after swinging widely from honestly kind of hating it to now enjoying the ride I'd say give it a chance. <<less

Love letter from the future has an interesting premise.

Our MC is a lower noble and is one of the weaker students in the academy, but a certain letter changes it all. Unlike most novels which deal with regression or information from the future, our MC is the one left as clueless as the other characters. The world build of this novel is brilliant so far, and this make the pacing seem a bit slow. Each character is fleshed out and given their time in the limelight. It's a not a... more>> flood of information pouring in at one time, but learning about them along with the MC.

The questions and the clues from the letters help build up a suspenseful and mysterious atmosphere and leaves you wanting more. This novel does give me a similar feel to another favourite of mine, the Second Coming of Gluttony.

If you plan to read this novel, I suggest that you be patient as it starts out slow but the build up is worth it. <<less

I'm really liking this novels so far tho it has some things I don't like

The MC is totally dense Which I really despise about harems MCs but he compensates on being badass

The girls I don't really dig they feel more like pets than love interests and they're always fighting eachother while MC is dense as a rock

... more>> The only one I liked was the saintess.

The fights in this novel are pretty fun to read and are well written but the MC powering up during fights by insta learning techniques from his future self and memories is kinda annoying since he'll have a solution to every problem he faces

Overall the fights are good, the girls are mid, while I don't see where the plot is going since it's very slow. <<less
