The moment the little tyrant of the nobles, Roel Ascart, saw his stepsister, he recalled his memories. He realized that he was in the world of a gal game he played in his previous life. To make things worse, he was the greatest villain in the common route of the game!

“I’ll be killed by the main character and the four capture targets ten years from now. Is there still any hope for me?”

Just thinking about the fearsome glints of those sharp swords those beautiful capture targets held in their hands, Roel couldn’t help but tremble in fear.

Till a voice finally sounded in his head.

You know that it's a Chinese novel by how whole chapters go by without anything but some nonsense conversation actually happening.

That said, it's on a completely different level than other Chinese novels over here. Overall I would say it would be like 3.5 if you can bear with the astonishing text blocks of nothingness, which I can by just skipping them altogether. However, due to the great standard that I hold Chinese novels by, I was almost tempted to give it a 5-star rating.

To avoid deceiving you, I was a... more>> bit generous and gave a 4-star instead.

If you have plenty of patience, time and a shortage of things to do or energy to do something, you could spend that time by skipping this novel while occasionally reading parts of it. <<less

I've picked up and put down this novel several times because I felt a bad vibe in the beginning, and I'm happy that my gut feeling was wrong.

Contrary to my expectations, I thought the affection points system and gold shop would trivialize Roel's relationships and I figured that he'd just bullsh*t his way into the hearts of others with items from the shops. Instead, what we have here is a decent isekai romcom battle harem. MOST of his interactions and romances make sense, and watching a gaggle of girls fight... more>> over him is actually humorous and, in my opinion, the main appeal of this novel because each girl is distinct and likeable.

The system is sort of like The Novel's Extra if you've happened to read that- it gives Roel powerful items and sometimes lets him sidestep some obstacles, not to mention all the other powerups he obtains from other characters as well. It's a little ass-pully, but it didn't get in the way of my enjoyment. That's just how it is.

I don't care much about the world building. It doesn't feel that expansive, but there is some potential there. It's a bit too early to say anything about it.

If I had to name a gripe I have, it's that Roel chooses to be friends with someone (s) except that friendship isn't really shown or elaborated upon at all. Kinda lame tbh.

All in all, give it a shot if you've read The Novel's Extra or want to see harem shenanigans. It's a decent read.

3/5 as a novel, 4/5 in enjoyability. <<less

Fun stuff, there's various sloppy and annoying parts, but if you can get over those it's more than fun enough to justify a read.

I really enjoyed this.

The story loses steam every once in a while, and certain characters's actions are controversial. The initial hook of "avoiding death flags" is gone after all four main heroines are introduced, and gives way to a less interesting "chosen one" prophecy. Translation is nice. The world building doesn't give the sense of scale it's trying to present, even after a few hundred chapters. Mass bits of exposition dulled my memory, so after a year I can only recall a few vague scenes, which is a disappointing sign.

I have only enjoyed TWO Chinese novels at the time of this review. The novel is entertaining to read because its basically a Japanese novel. The MC is beta, so please go into this novel without any expectations on that front.

Nothing new but it's well written and the translation quality is good (except for the fact that the affection points ruin every sweet moment between the MC and his stepsister) so I give it a 4. Depending on whether there will be a harem or not and how the MC would deal with his future waifus I might lower it to 3.5.

Oh and the filler text (explanation about world history, each noble house history, blah blah blah that has nothing to do with plot progressing) is a bit annoying.

Surprising. For a chinese novel to adopt jap otome premise. What's even more surprising is that it's not bad compare to other jap otome novels.

There were some cringy moments; MC is a bit bland; and he has a cheat (shop) system that ruins the immersion.

But so far, the love interests are decent enough to make interesting developments.

Spoiler

The sweet Alabama love interest is a potential borderline yandere.

The sad*st love interest was refreshing as well.

Imagine them fight for MC exclusive affection.

[collapse]

I agree with Shangori's review, there are a lot of expositions in its early chapters. The cringe at the start was also discouraging that it almost made me drop it, but I bare with it.

And it was worth it.

So far, it's not a bad romance/harem. It has slow pacing that may bother some people; only two out of four love interests are properly introduced so far (if I remember correctly). While the story is at its infant stage, it has good potential. I can see why people rate it 5.

Only read it if you're into otome romance/harem because that's all there is to it, at least for now. <<less

OK, Chinese novels which has a OP lazy system and ultranationalism as a side dish is getting slowly weeded out due to competition from Korean novels.

This is a new one for me (without usual CN Bullshits), would rate 4.6 out of 5 as we haven't yet drawn into main plot.

Translation is good, so is the website especially the comment options on each paragraphs.

Hope to see more for further conclusion.
