“I will give birth to your child.”

Elise, the princess of a ruined country, was brought as a prisoner to the enemy country, where she was to be hanged and presented to the savages. Desperate to avoid this fate, Elise tried to come up with any way to survive. Even if it meant telling an outrageous lie.

There was only one person who held the power to save her. Rezette Kyrstan, the commander-in-chief of the enemy country, also known as the dragon, and Van Yela’s loyal dog. Elise knew she had to convince this cold and stubborn man in front of her to spare her life.

In a trembling voice, Elise made an offer that she hoped he couldn’t refuse. “I will give birth to your child,” she said.

Every now and the I torture myself with angsty novels. Yes, this novel has it’s angst, but not in the way in which you would expect. The ML, is not a cold and indifferent a-hole who revels in the torture of the FML only realizing his love for her after she leaves. Though still cold and indifferent, the ML is inherently respectful and kind to the FML who holds the title of a princess from a fallen kingdom.

The novel is shrouded in intense mysteries and each character is not without... more>> flaws and is well fleshed. A story about the most fatally beautiful woman in the continent who betrothed a man lured by all things shiny. The tension is also very apparent, sometimes verging on to cusp of a R-19 novel.

I truly recommend this novel for those who have the patience of slow burns and abhor angsty novels that always attempt to justify abusive ML’s. <<less

This novel simply caught me by surprise after starting with the manhwa and finding the story to be intriguing enough to continue with the novel.

What astounded me the most was the vocabulary used by the author (and subsequently the translation team). The writing was simply exquisite. The dialogues were extremely well written and I could understand every subtlety written by the author. If only for this fact, please read this novel.

As for the story itself, it is very complex and is definitely researched. Every character is interesting and I find... more>> myself liking a lot of them and remembering their names even though there's a decent amount of them lol.

I binge read the entire novel in a single night because of how invested I was in the plot. One thing that I especially loved compared to other novels I have read so far, is that the political part of the arranged marriage is not neglected at all. In fact, it often comes back to slap us in the face and make us realize that —damn... these characters are not going to be happy for a while, are they?

Jokes aside, I also really appreciated the subtle switches between povs which could have made it confusing but was all but that. It kept me invested in every character without having to spell out which character we had to focus on at the moment. Not to mention the complexities of each of them made it even better. I have not been bored when reading a different pov yet. In fact, I sometimes found myself wondering when I would encounter these characters again.

In a nutshell, great writing for a novel with great characters and plot. <<less
