The story is nice and the plot twists are there. However I don't think that I'm going to read it again. It's lacking a lot of details to describe, this should've help the reader to imagine the whole scenario of the story. A lot of confusing times happened specially when the plane changes. I can't even imagine the faces of the main characters, lol. (Pardon me)

Nice story without too much bloody trails. But the mystery and twist is really good at getting you hook.A recommended read for this short story.

Rebirth? Enemies to lovers? Master and disciple couple? Yes, please.

This is such a fun and light read. I really loved the connection and the relationship between the MC and the ML, whether what's shown in the surface or the actual bond between them. I've always been in love with doting and devoted lover so this is a plus for me. The plot itself is quite interesting, especially the rebirth part but nothing new and spectacular overall. There's no fixed 'big villain' as the main antagonist but more like... more>> a combination of small to mid villain sprinkled through out the story.

Still good and fun and it's also on the shorter side so it's a quick read. <<less

I really like the details in each event from the story plot. It wasn't very boring but was intriguing for me because it felt like a new concept I never encountered before. The plot was very enjoyable to read but it's just that sometimes when switching to another event in the story was kind of confusing and bland yk?

And I didn't really like the time skip since it was so out of nowhere. Like it was only the beginning of the story like about chapter 15-20 and there was already a three year time skip and I just felt like it just came out of nowhere.

But beside that I enjoy this novel. I wished that there was more chapters about Shen Zhixian feelings and emotions of love towards Yan Jin or like more about the plot but the romance was still good though. I just wanted more lovey dovey stuff about them lol. I felt like the yaoi tag wasn't really needed but I guess the tag was there because Shen Zhixuan (Sui Xian) and Yan Jin was very imitate and very touchy so I think that's why. It's really a good danmei novel. I think it could even be better but it is still very good. The end was cute and wholesome but I really didn't expect the ending to be like that but it was not a bad ending.

It's quite similar to SVSS. But the way the author built up the plot has to be given credit to.

The MC and ML are literally the cutest. I love their development. Ontop of that, even though the ML had his old memories, I love how he did not let it hinder his thoughts or brain too much such that it lead to a lotttt of misunderstandings. Instead, he logically used his brain which has to be given credit to for this kind of transmigration xianxia novels wkwkwkwk

I'm not gonna say much. The story was nice, but there were some things I was left unsatisfied with, and tbh by the time I got to about ch49 I was counting down when it would end. Then when the ending finally came, it was sorta disappointing. But yeah, I could still finish it and didn't just drop it, so I think that's gotta count for something.

I will say that there are some twists and turns in the story that were pretty well done.

The ML is respectful of MC, I’d consider him a standard formula gong of the doting variety.

I’d recommend it, it was a pretty easy read. <<less

If you like transmigration novels that involve a cultivation setting and teacher/student relationships one then this is something you should read.

I thought it was quite funny how hard working the main character was to repair his relationship with the male lead. Overall, it is quite entertaining to watch the two characters develop feelings for each other and how those feelings continue to grow with different trials and tribulations. There are some unexpected plot developments and I am not sure if I felt all of them were really necessary, but my... more>> overall impression of this novel is good. I recommend it. I was highly entertained throughout the entire story!

Especially if you like Scum Villian's Self Saving System then you will probably enjoy this work. I think it is one of the most similar novels to SVSSS I have read yet, especially in the beginning. They both have their own unique points though, playing with the same ideas in different ways. And the endings and plot development are very different. <<less

I don't know if I oversatisfied myself with reading a lot of Shizun x Desciple novels, but this one..... it felt okay..... I'm not entirely happy with it, but it was a good read too. I honestly don't have much to say because I got a bit bored with it, but I did enjoy it here and there.

I absolutely loved this novel! The plot and story line is one of my favorites the ending to me was very satisfying!

There was one part in the novel where I couldn’t keep up with what was happening (and got really confused) but I continued reading and eventually understood what was going on.

It was around the part where Shen Zhixian finds out he is actually the original body but was transported into the ‘modern world’ and then came back. Maybe I didn’t read it carefully enough but it took me awhile to figure out what was going on!

I definitely recommend this book if you love the master and disciple hate to love relationship! <<less

I'll ramble a bit since I enjoyed this. Short and splendid. It is similar to SVSSS from the first few chapters but it's very different and I love it. It's not the best out there, there are some plot holes but, I love the main characters/couple so much. They don't have much misunderstandings nor they attached much to the title of "master and discipline". They respect and trust each other with no hesitations, they don't care about what others think about them. Their past was quite tragic and there are... more>> some plot twists that managed to pleasantly surprised me. I love how they don't abuse their power onto each other. They both stick to their own morals, have their own thoughts and do their own things. They're not too overbearing or too possessive. I love the MC's personality and mindset, he just goes with the flow, don't overreact, don't let anyone step on him nor does he takes bullshits, there isn't much moments that I thought he was dumb. The other characters are alright. The ML is a bit dull, your regular cold and blackened, devoted male lead with a tragic past but he is a sweetheart. Just a Fierce Husky cub x elegant and lazy kitten duo. It deserves a 4.4/5 stars. Not much angst or drama, would recommend.

there is some misogyny on the daun yuan (?) guy who was supposedly assumed to be the "original female lead" but turned out to be a cross dresser. It stereotype females, saying they all have to be obedient, elegant and like "girly" things. Saying he'll die if he doesn't cross dress and wait til the age of 20 y/o, is that necessary, it bugs me a bit🗿I have some questions about why and how did he even coincidentally read the book and transmigrated into it specifically. The ending was a bit bland, I guess I was hoping to see some juicy scenes. I was put off with their age gaps at the beginning but it's better than I expected. It is pretty cliche but I love these tropes and cliche so who cares hahaha

He’s actually a reincarnated version of the original character, and, at some point, he was replaced by a half-devil (resulting in him being cruel to Yan Jin, who he cared for greatly). He’s meant to be the SY character in this fic but they’re pretty different. He doesn’t have hang ups about M/M and is pretty easy going.

  • Yan Jin: Is the ML. He’s stoic and cold. Doesn’t say much. In the OG story, he started practicing devil cultivation after his spirit root was cut down by his Master. Hidden backstory!

He was an orphaned child left homeless after being divined as a calamity. He meets Sui Xian (MC in disguise) and was taken cared of by him.

SETTING:

This is a cultivation setting. MC is considered one of the strongest cultivators, it's just that he has a heart-related issue has made his spiritual energy difficult to use. ML joins the Qingyun Sect as one of the MC’s disciples and is bullied because the OG!MC disliked him greatly. The story starts when MC had transmigrated. The transmigration is actually a non-factor here. It’s a No-System fic!

THINGS I LIKED:

I like the cultivation setting. It’s different from what I was used to so I learned a lot. Especially about secret realms, mounts, spirit swords, etc. All those were explored here.

I also liked the early development of the romance. Yan Jin remembered the fact that his Master would cut down his spirit root and was pretty hesitant to the MCs coaxing. The author spent quite some time on that in the beginning!

THINGS I DISLIKED:

The case elements that got on the way of everything and had no real value. I hate unnecessary case fic elements. I love MXTX works because all the cases they have made sense, you know? They all progressed the story (in a variety of ways, some of which are even revealed late in the story.) The only one here that I liked was the mermaid story, which helped the romance progress and the main conflict of the story (which Song Ming, the Sect Leader Wen, the Half-Devil, etc.) Everything else was boring and pointless.

I also disliked the late development of the romance. After a point, the author began to abandon their development. Leaving it ambiguous. Like. Even if the smut is censored, there should be more than that!!! Furthermore, the case elements got in the way so often it grew frustrating. By the end, I was barely paying attention and just struggling to finish.

OVERALL RATING:

This was given a three star, but it might even be lower than that. Like a 2.5/5 story. It’s just average to me. I really liked some elements. But the story as a whole was a mess. Especially after the halfway point. Things were fine before then, but the rest was meh to me. The other side characters outside of Duan Yuan were flat too. <<less

Really don't have high hopes for this one xiaxia danmei novel. But it turns out that the plot is smooth with a little heartbreak in some chapters. Less than 80 chapters! Some long and some short chapters. Only 2 reincarnation lives and a lot of explanations about the cultivation life.

The characters include likable even some demons. There are "several lessons" along the way for MC and ML. MC is a teacher who enjoys life easily but is quite responsible in teaching. Our ML who has bitter memories of the past... more>> has calm and high endurance. He is can even be polite even if he feel jealous. Some good qualities that are not shared by other ML in similar novels!
(I've read a lot of Danmei's novels to know which ML is still an as*hole even though he's been hit by a karmic slap)

Every event and even other characters have a role in the story without us realizing it. This keeps the mystery and story flowing smoothly and interestingly. Good xiaxia danmei. <<less

This is my first time writing a review and I'm just doing it because I want to try it out, but this is a good story. I haven't finished it but I got quite far into it. Then I forgot about it and am starting it over again. I really like these types of novels with the shizun-disciple troupe. Though it's not for everyone, I find it quite enjoyable. I also particularly like the sickly MC, I just like it when the main characters have some sort of disease, as... more>> long as they don't die from it. Anyway, there is some angst, I think, but Its funny and cute, to me anyway. Also, If you don't like this story or find it offense somehow, just don't read it. You don't have to make a bad comment and make others not want to read it. Please check tags before you read and hate on something. Either way, I really love this story. Thanks! <<less

It's a good story but for some reason I really can't get myself to finish it. I've tried reading this so many times and have put it down and picked up but still couldn't finish it. It couldn't really hook me. The translations are good though and the story is pretty interesting and I'd still recommend it to others.

Wow, just wow. Everything is amazing, the plot, the twists the turns, I’m not even exaggerating this book truly, truly amazing. For a moment this book might be looked like another book with plot master/disciple but after you read it through, this book really surprises me again and again. Truly a good book, and it’s really worth to read.

4.5 I guess? It was intriguing, there was so much mystery. The events were all explained, even the 'transmigration'. Anything can always happen in cultivation worlds hahaha. Hmm, typical demon ML, yan jin (but suffered more cause of the last life aww), loveable MC Shen Zhixian, combination of wwx and sqq hahahah hmm got a bit annoyed with the unnecessary 'side couple' per se in the end lol. It was different from the typical transmigrate in a book. There were many flashbacks and sometimes it got a bit confusing, but... more>> still understandable.

It was an alright read cause I finished it without pausing. Reread is a no cause it was too mystery lol <<less

I dropped the novel. The flow is disjointed. There are so many disparate parts that need to be kept at the back of my mind and I just got tired of trying to piece the puzzles together. Perhaps it’s just BL trope fatigue since I’ve been binge reading a lot. There is one touching side story that almost brought me to tears. Perhaps I’ll come back to this during the holidays

I finished the novel in three days because it's the kind of story where when you pick it up, you can't stop reading. I would've rated it 5 stars if only the plot didn't get confusing at some points. The illusion sea realm arc was the one which stood out the most to me, I'm not going to spoil anything but the side story was so tragic. I really liked how they handled the main CP in this book, the MC is dense but not in an annoying way. He... more>> handles the ML's confession to him very maturely and doesn't go on an annoying tangent about how he's not gay and that there's no way that he isn't straight, which is typical in BL novels. The ML was very respectful in this book. My only complaint is that the plot jumps from one point to another very quickly, making some of the events in this book hard to understand. Overall a very fun and light read, I recommend reading it if you're bored and enjoy respectful MLs. <<less
