It's really good. Though the last hurdle to MC and ML love line was a bit predictable and anti climatic for me, overall it's a very good story.

It gives a lot of insights on the economic conditions around 1991-1998, a lot of technical terms but it is explained in the novel so it was still easy enough to read. Granted, this is more of MC'S story of reaching the pinnacle of success by maximizing his own potential. It's similar to epiphany of rebirth but with more realistic sense.

MC and ML... more>> is ambiguous, I don't know which one of them is the gong and the shou, there's some frisky stuff in the novel but only a few <<less

This is a great novel. I mtl it and it's really good. It is about the mc's struggle to his new chance of life and how he strive from a boy from a working family to a man that dominates the business world. And the interaction of the MC and ML are so sweet even though they haven't have enough time to spend too much time together because of each others businesses. And there twins are so cute as well as the younger brother of Yuanming.

Overall its good but I hope mr/ms. Author, please add even a 2 additional chapters about what are their life after the year where the MC was suppose to die in his first life. And some more about his younger brother Chen Jiaxing and the two little buns. ??

A fantastic story. A rarity in danmei genre, MC and ML have an equal, trusting and gentle relationship.

Beginning was mediocre. Typical plotline of poor MC wanting a better life for her his family. However in this case MC's family are ungrateful and don't understand or support him, in fact they abuse and hinder him instead. So he drops out of school and ventures out to make money without his parents knowing. He makes money and sends it back to his family, and although they are not ungrateful with the money, I don't think they understand how hard MC worked for it and want him to come home.... more>> His extended family are mostly useless and ungrateful and only want to borrow money from them now that they know they are rich. If I was MC I would have taught them a lesson, but instead MC just glosses over the drama and forgets about it. MC continues to use his knowledge of the future to make money and invest, however it becomes very dry and boring. The original reason why MC wanted to make money was for his family, but now that he can support his family, he is still running around trying to invest in whatever can make him money. While making money is good, I can't really feel the "drive" or his motivation. He is simply doing it because the plot dictates it. I like reading abut characters working hard and getting rich, but if there is no underlying reason or driving factor for this, then it simply becomes boring and tasteless. Also he is dipping his toes into too many pools, and it's really hard to keep track of what is happening and where he is investing his money. <<less

One of the best novels ever...

MC is a real human... true emotions, clear thinking, smart decisions, his family relationship and it’s development is really well written.

MC and Ml’s relationship is really well paced, yes it’s a really slow burn but when they finally get into a relationship it is honestly couple goals and realistic one at that!!!

The ending... was soooooo satisfying!!! I’m rarely this happy with endings.

Don't expect relationship stuff early.

MC feels pretty real regarding that, as he really doesn't know what he wants and has baggage.

He actually gets head from like a 17 year old pretty boy, when he was doing some negotiations, and only after a lack luster finish realizes he likes ML. Which isn't a good realization given how the gay situation is at that point in time.

I like how he's a real guy who when inexperienced, can crave to human urges, but not go overboard.

Honestly it's weakest point is it drags too much, like cutting all parts where the characters matter to MC would make a smaller and better paced story. By the time you hit 180s you feel exhausted with the money making.

MTL completed, readability 90%.

An engaging investment novel, it dove into the actual market more specific than any other novel I've read so far.

For a novel released in 2013, this novel beat others on the same genres.

These kind of mentally and physically abusive parents really level up my anger level. Once again an example that not everyone can be qualified parents.

For him to just stand there and received every punch, kick and belt strike really made me wonder, how many times for it to happen and since when it happened? He must've been used to it.

I just read the initial chapters, and skimmed over the reviews. If in the end he could make up with his parents without any emotional/psychological shadow then I really applaud author's extensive imagination.

Even the MC admitted it:

These were his parents, an existence that always made him suffer, but he couldn't let go of.

I love this story soooo much. It's similar to my other favorite novel ( (Epiphanies of Rebirth)) if you don't know what that is I recommend you to read it immediately you will never regretted 😋

of course there some point in this novel that I don't like which is mention in Liyu review ( (the ideas it spreads around, that it's okay for your parents to abuse you and ruin your dreams and you should not retaliate. It's unbearable)) I hate his parent with passion for this.

his father is very abusive to him. He rather believe stranger then his own son 😠he is the type to show his strength to his weak family behind close door but the moment he step outside he will lower his head pathetic. What more pathetic that when his son start to make money he start to feel uncomfortable since he feel that his authority is threaten.

his mother is the same she watch her son being abused by his s*upid father and she didn't do anything not only that she agree with her husband. When the ML become successful and send a lot of money she is happy women naturally but I bet if he isn't successful she will say why she give birth to this kind of son

of course I know this kind of parent exist in real life so 🤕

Alot of Financial history and records of the past if people don't want to read pages of that you might want to to touch this novel.

Well to be honest besides the being interest into Financial stuff and the more intense xxx scenes, (they have the best BJ scenes btw in this novel other authors could learn a thing or 2) I find myself not as interest in others things.

I think the first high well he gets his fund from scratch from selling watches to the stock market... more>> then investing, it gets drags out quite abit.

There's lack of faceslaps, evil Ex doesn't get to show up at all, I find that disappointing, there's lack of the faceslaps. The most evil is the government it self with these leeches abusing their power. Also family conflicts seems non issue, just parents who love their kids but struggling with life issues.

MC is so OP with everything I find the ML is abit lacking, to me he's more like a brat but watched him grow was good too. He swears alot.

I think I prefer Epiphanies of Rebirth, they did use this novel as reference of course it's much better in the over all settings and everything, more compelling, more interesting, the romance is more there then compare here which is more dry because MC is always busy.

This is readable but not everything I expect it to be, I expected wealthy family conflicts, revenge and facelslaps, or business competitions with evil cannon fodders as such <<less

Great novel. Other than the rebirth element, the novel is written realistically, and the novel focuses more on business than romance, which is a plus for those who are bored with romance-only novels. Also, the romance doesn’t feel forced, and the ML is fresh out (not the usual cold, domineering president).

Writing/Translation: 2.2/5

The translated parts from Miss Lemon's MTL I read were quite good. All the investment jargon was clear enough. There were no errors that I remember.

The rest I read in MTL using the default browser translation for Google and Safari. Reading only one version of MTL was kinda bad but if I read two at the same time, it's quite readable. I understood the gist of what was happening. All the investment stuff got more dry and maybe a good translation might have helped in that department but... more>> I don't think it would have had much effect.

Pacing: 3.5/5

Hmm, the investing were quite detailed. But after the first setup and establishment of initial funds, the start of the main big business and the rest got quite dry and had a lot of telling what was going on. Yes, there are also a lot of show-not-tell parts but still a lot of info dumps haha.

Plot: 4/5

I think people who love this kind of stuff would adore this story. This is a pure power fantasy for someone who has future knowledge and is ambitious enough to fight on the big stage for it. For me, I am not really interested in such things haha. So while objectively, this type of trope is good but I personally didn't enjoy it that much.

Romance: 4/5

The romance is pretty slow haha. Only in the last fourth of the story did it really gain traction. I didn't mind it. It's better than the normal seme uke teenaged fantasy BL romance lol. The two is a bit more realistic or mature?

Setting/Worldbuilding: 4.9/5

The world setting includes the US and various provinces of China. And in each there are different industries and businesses the MC is doing so the world is definitely bigger in this story. Also, lots of real-world history is being thrown around for that time period.

Characters: 4/5

The characters are pretty good. There are a lot of characters here.

Personal Enjoyment: 3.3/5

Not really a fan of these huge, mind-boggling amounts of money being thrown around. Not relatable anymore for me haha.
