Cheng Yichi, the three gold actor, is keen on acting. In order to return the favour, he participated in a love variety show: WHO IS THE LIAR.

However, the straight men dressed as gay, deceived everyone!

In the variety show, ten handsome guys gather, nine are gay, handsome and flirtatious men. All of them are elite leaders in various industries.

They look for the lover who is most suitable for them, take the initiative to fight for their love, and at the same time, they should also be careful not to be stolen by hateful straight man, the liar.

Love Liar Cheng Yichi: It doesn’t matter, I’ll just observe and observe, you don’t need to worry about me, just fall in love!

There are white shirts that are always buttoned at the top, but their bodies are very hot. There are ascetic doctors who turn red when they touch them, and there are romantic and romantic people who often wear wine red shirts and like to play all kinds of games.

Amorous, rich and young, and gold silk and side chain glasses.

Even the calm gentleman can be jealous in this game.

Cheng Yichi: Oh, let me look at who took them? Is it a pure white and flawless cute angel? Or a gentle and quiet beauty? Or a handsome man with a cool leather jacket?

Oh, it turned out to be Cheng Yichi…eh? It’s me?

At the end of the show, the Shura Field came as promised—Cheng Yichi’s phone line was busy!

The only straight man Cheng Yichi: Ugh, I just came to experience life, I’m just a straight man… um, right? Maybe, maybe, I’m still straight?

The possessive little wolf cub hugged his senior from behind, kissed the back of his neck warmly, and said: Hey, brother, what are you talking about? What straight guy?

Cheng Yichi: No, no, I didn’t say anything!

Lots of one star votes, and I kind of understand why despite my well-meant three stars, it depends on how willing you are to just go along with the overall premise and MC's character setting.

It's a harem novel, yet I do wish the writer would have kept some of the potential MLs neutral or give up on the MC, especially one who finds out very early that MC isn't gay at all.
Everyone loves him, all of them give up on a better match just to chase the MC, while MC acts in ways that makes them believe he might actually give them a chance.

I would have accepted that if MC did it consciously because he wants to do the job well, a character who's work is more important than other people's emotion – he would be a scum but at least one with a spine.
Sadly, he isn't. He's another adult character too oblivious/innocent to understand how his behaviour seems to others, and even after someone pointed it out to him, he continues to do it because his peanut brain can't comprehend what he's doing wrong.
So, he's a super nice guy accidentally flirting with several gay men while he gets paid to do just that but apparently never wanted any of them to actually be interested in him.

Yeha... doesn't make much sense.
The writer likely didn't dare to portray the MC as true scum only caring about his job at the expense of genuinely nice people, which leads to this quite nonsensical outcome.

All of the MLs are fine, although most of them don't act their age, there's nothing too annoying about any of them.
They aren't abusive, stalkers, or borderline yandere - just normal people. That only warrants a second star.

Online comments aren't as overwhelming as they usually are in these novels, but still disruptive due to their unfortunate placement in the middle of active interactions between the characters.

The story per se, and its execution, are... shallow.
Everyone that isn't MC or one of the MLs really isn't believable, they have clear purposes as plot devices, there's nothing else to them.
Everything that happens, happens out of convenience no matter how unbelievable it is.

Of course, a straight guy suddenly falling for a man, and having no problem with constantly flirting with/getting hit on by men isn't really believable either.

But the story is relaxing, easy to read, and probably enjoyable if you can overlook all the problems it has.

My review has nothing to do with the translation. I enjoy other works by this group and their translations are clear and well-done, however I just couldn't get through this novel.

The first issue for me was the similarity of this plot to 'Why Do All The Male Protagonists Look At Me Like That?' (WMPLM) which is also about a gay love variety show. Of course a lot of tropes end up reused in the same genre, ie. Systems or apocalypses. Likewise, variety show romances are common so I wouldn't have... more>> cared if the similarities had stopped there.

Spoiler

I read WMPLM a while ago so my memory isn't a 100% but the scenes that felt the same were:

- text messages every night
- the exercise competition
- same guests like E-sports player and the abstinent guy.

- MC isn't interested, only naively trying to match make others but ends up having all fall for him.

- MC sings beautifully and entrances everyone with his karaoke performance (this is the scene that made me stop reading)

[collapse]

Of course there are differences too, like this MC is an actor while the other was a dancer and this show had the 'liar' concept. Still, it felt like I was rereading WMPLM sometimes.

The other issues I had with this novel were that there were too many characters and none of them felt developed. It took me 20 chapters and way too much energy to remember who was who. I didn't care about any of them or their interactions. They felt shallow, like the author had just given them 5 key characteristics each and that's it. Also I don't mind the clueless MC makes every one fall for them but I don't enjoy how they fall so easily. MC just looks at them and they love him. No, he doesnt even need to look at them they love him even before meeting. If he was a student like the WMPLM MC then maybe his naivety makes sense, but this MC is a grown man who is very experienced through his career.

Anyway, it isn't my cup of tea but I also stopped reading at Ch 22 so maybe it gets more developed after. <<less

I'm 42 chapters in and if the summary & tags sound good then I suggest reading it. The story and writing is very good and has good pacing. I decided to read despite the other comments/low rating and found that the MC does not deliberately flirt with others for the most part, but he is clueless as to what is or is not flirting. Even when he later realizes it could be perceived as flirting he comforts himself by saying he's just "in character" for the show lol. Tbh I... more>> don't mind it and even at Ch. 42 we still don't know for sure who he is going to end up with. I personally like BL harems and don't mind if they all end up together but I don't think the MC is the type to be into that. <<less
