Sweet straightforward story, not amazing but still warm. MC, Xiao Lian, is a concubine born son. ML, Yan Yixia, is the eldest son of a wealthy family. ML is a gentleman throughout and values MC through words and "deeds". [Note the quotation marks. You'll understand once you read the novel. ;) ]

Light on plot, light on explanation, light on conflict.

However, it seems the world is larger than the story which is a treat to imagine this is just a small episode in their lives.

A short, sweet and drama-free novel. The MC is a typical white lotus and the ML is a soft tempered, gentlemanly scholar. There is no face-slapping or anything like that, they just live a happy married life and it's only 15 chapters so there really isn't much going on.

The story was nice but it wasn't extremely interesting and the fluff was a little different from the type I prefer but the relationship was nice and healthy. It's just so lovely that the couple valued each others' character over wealth or... more>> looks and treated each other as equals. They were also naturally compatible which is nice.

Translation is great overall. One minor thing is that the dialogue read a bit stilted to me. I wasn't sure if it was bc the story was edited MTL (flowed very well though) or if the author originally had written it like that. <<less

A short sweet story. The MC has low self esteem, but who wouldn’t have that if you grow up in that environment. ML a scholar who was fulfilling his parents promised. But with a little twist of misfortune he got someone who really love him and found his true love. A very relax plots and kindness always rewards. Good read.

A very formally written story, which lead to a formally translated story, which also meant that the characters were very formally spoken with each other. I suppose it was because the writer attempted to make the tone more historical. However, it just came out as polite and formal to me.

Often times if I would forget who the speaker was, I would think that a butler was speaking to the MC and not his husband, the ML.

Why would anyone rate it a single star!! The translation is amazing. It’s a short read, a part of me wanted the story to continue but I also felt satisfied about the ending. The MC is precious, the ML kind and doting. You can’t help but envy their relationship (´-ω-`) Rated it 5 stars! It’s a simple story but it’s very heartwarming. I recommend you to read it! I think I’ll reread it again and again especially when I’m down (or crying because of angst-y stories orz)

I like the story but it seems a little similar to some stories I've read before. What irked me here is how spoiled that Xin'er. I would like to see him experience more suffering. For the main couple, I love how they trust each other despite meeting each other just a few times. It shows that pure love still exist but only few experience it.

A nice, sweet, easy read. Most of the drama comes from secondary characters. The two leads are likeable and very sweet to each other, but because of how short the story is, it felt like there wasn't much time to flesh them out very much in terms of their character nor was there much time to flesh out their relationship.

Truthfully, I didn't have the mood to read when I picked up this story, but thankfully I DID and loved it. The chemistry, bond, trust, and frankness that SHOULD be present in a relationship plus the proper setting that gave the background a shallow yet comfortable ancient feel, like YES, THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE was beautiful. Overall, highly recommended to those still hesitating.
