This was short and sweet, and I think I read the whole thing in like 30 mins. I reeally enjoy it, it's a nice shot of fluff if you are looking for that. The character development of the ML was great as well. So cute!

F-king hell with your 'cute story' above commenter! I was crying my eyes out through these 16 chapters! It wasn't just cute but beautiful and heartwarming with heart-wrenching feelings ah! It's so short with just 25 chapters! But it shouldn't be longer either because I might die from losing too much tears if it were to be described in details. PLEASE PREPARE YOUR HEART AND TISSUES FOR UNREQUITED LOVE JOURNEY!

The only think I didn't expect was that Yan-daren (ML) wasn't the one who betray MC, so all is well. I have a feeling he was and wasn't at the same time but oh well... Sorry dude for doubting you.

2 stars for the story and 4 stars for the good translation.

After reading the whole novel, there was only the feeling of bitterness left. Why you say? Well, I was completely and utterly dissatisfied with the whole plot line as well as every characters in there (maybe aside from the MC - but only a little bit). This might probably be the worst plot line I've ever came across with no proper end in sight - the 'little Emperor' is a complete bastard but did not get the retribution he... more>> should have got in the end of the novel. Also, to be completely honest with you, the events leading up to the main couple coming together really made no sense - and towards the end, I don't even feel that the ML was truly in love with the MC even though the author does his/her best to write it in a way that deems to be true love, but in my eyes, MC just happened to be the perfect 'shou' substitute of the bastard Emperor brother that the ML used to be in love with - "eyebrows and smile similar to the one in his heart" HAH o-O

The papapa scenes were probably some of the only noteworthy part of this novel but even then when describing 'that' as "humongous purple red..." really just makes the ML look like some sort of a off-the-street r*per who came just for the ass of the MC.

Other noteworthy aspects would probably be when the environment or the atmospheres that's described but hey, that's it! =)

Either way, the translator did a great job in translating the novel, just that the story is not that satisfying and very lacking when it comes to plot line and character building. <<less

i expected a very nonsense like fluffy story filled with plotholes just to get over Copper coins (11/10 reccommend) but man was I surprised

xiao jiu is portrayed as a naive fool in the beginning and I thought it was a lazy author not developing their characters but I was WRONG.

Five for all, It's really a nice and sweet novel, and the translator does his job very well. Thanks.

I'm not going to give any s*upid spoilers to those of you who are about to start reading, but it's a good story. The MCs were so sweet and it was just unrequited love at first. Don't be fooled by a little pain in the middle, keep on reading and you will taste very sweet sweet sugar.

One thing, I only regret the character of the emperor's older brother, he is a bastard,... more>> a bastard and as*hole for me, but maybe that's the reality that will happen in the real world.

Oh then I'll remind you also don't be fooled by one of the s*upid reviews here, which says ML only makes MC like a substitute. I also don't understand what's wrong with his brain so he can't process the big picture between MC and ML falling in love. I read the review before this and almost missed a very good read, I hate it a bit.

I usually stay away from series with less than 80 chapters because most that I had read are too rushed. Maybe, I'm just unlucky. But, let me tell you that this story is literally the best 25 chapters series I've read. It got me teary eyes halfway through the story and I'm not easily moved.

The main focus is the MC's feelings towards ML. I'd say it's beautifully written because by the end of the story you would have fallen for the two main characters and wish them... more>> happiness with all your heart.

The pacing is just right. Short, but very sweet so it doesn't feel rushed. Best of all, the feelings between the MC & ML are still conveyed clearly and sincerely. I really feel for the MC and his plight. And, I came to understand the ML's feelings as well because the author wrote from his side too!

The smut also wasn't rushed to be inserted or rushed to end. It came at the right time, paced well and written well. Overall, I highly recommend this story for a nice leisurely sweet read. <<less

The MC is such a lovable cutie pie!

Even though the story is short, it is very sweet and full of fluff! (Minus some palace drama)

MC: the ninth prince, a smol innocent boi in love with his elder brother's personal bodyguard

Overall:

I usually dislike cold and taciturn characters because they shuck at communicating, but because of how smol, sweet, and smart the MC is, I can reluctantly accept the ML's character setting. The ending is happy, but I still crave for more extras. I wish there was a sequel or more extras, I can not bear to part with our lovable MC. <<less

A little short, heartwarming story. There's also a little sad part (I cried), just keep on reminding yourself that it's a HE!

This is well written, the pacing is just right. The MC's so cute and innoccent, having unrequited love with our ML. Lol. You might experienced some second hand embarassment at first but don't stop, it'll get better I promised. The only thing I am not happy about is that the Emperor bastard didn't get hit with karma BIG TIME!!! Ugh! I hate him so much!!!! I mean why?????? Oh... more>> well, as long as our MC and ML's happy, I'm good. <<less

Hello, I’m usually only a lurker and I don’t write any reviews but for this I had to speak up, don’t get me wrong the book is amazing, from its translation to its way writing. The only thing that I have a problem with is that. WHY YHE HELL DID NOT THE EMPEROR BROTHER GET HIS retribution like I don’t know get his reputation ruined or like an extra chapter explaining how he is A TERRIBLE emperor, which I know for sure he is, BUT LIKE REALLY ? AUTHER COME... more>> ON. Give me something that will satisfy me and I can sleep at night. This bothered me so much that I don’t think I can sleep tonight.

that aside for those new readers, enjoy the book, it’s worth five stars but I gave it four for the lack of revenge 😐 <<less

Full of feels in a short story. This is very nice, my kind of story, I really like one sided love and this story started like that, it's funny and a little bit of angst to make your heat clenched in pain, the ending was cute and lovely.

I didn't expect this novel to make me so Emotional my heart literally ached!!!

God, the Love MC has toward ML... The thing he did for him. But also ML's feelings and action!!! Their Mutual Devotion!!! So Heartbreaking and So Heartwarming!!!!!

I didn't expect to love this novel and the main characters so much!!!! MC and ML is Absolutely Wonderful and their Love is Outstandingly Unconditional!!!

Whoever said it was fluffy I want to fight you! You can only describe it as fluffy if haven't read the first 20 chapters (which are the majority).

I'm not saying it's not s good story, I liked it even but it isn't what I expected.

The story is pretty short so the characters can't be fully explored and neither what happened. Still, some things really surprised me while others I already expected.

Recommend if you want to cry just a little bit or like stories of initially unrequited love.

Cute and sweet story about a pure-hearted young prince and his life-long love for a palace bodyguard. You get a little bit of everything - fluff, sadness, palace intrigue, unrequited love, betrayal, and smut. Quite satisfying for a short story. Translator does an excellent job.

To those that say it's a cute story, you aren't wrong (though for a small part of the novel, those that get a bit emotional, *passes over 10 boxes of tissues).

This is a good short and straightforward novel to read during your free time or when you are taking a break. It's not just fluff as it does revolve around unrequited love near the beginning-mid.

The translations are good, though there is a lot of pinyin (pronunciations) in it that I don't really find necessary since it might be a bit... more>> confusing to readers who don't understand/know a lot of Chinese.

Overall, a good novel for quick reading or passing time, just the translations might be a bit confusing. <<less

This was a very bittersweet story.

I really like the MC he is so honest with his feelings and adorable. I rarely find MC’s like this.

ML was okay for me nothing to say more about him.

Please read it! It is very worthy of a little bit of time. Short and sweet.

The plot is not complex and easy to read and no need to dwell too much on it. Just give it a go.
