I Can Do It

For a certain LoL competition, a certain online streamer famous for pissing people off was currently explaining and broadcasting it at the same time.

Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.

Streamer: If that jungler was my teammate, I would already be idling at the fountain and playing piano for him by now.

Streamer: I recommend that this player go back and properly practice how to last hit.

Audience: What bullshit! If you’re any better, then you do it!

Streamer: I, your dad, really can do it.

Audience: Okokok. If you can do it then I’ll chop off my head so you can kick it.

A few months later, the LPL’s veteran pro team TTC announced a new mid laner. A boy with flashy blue hair appeared in front of the audience and played Zed to utter perfection, killing everyone he saw, causing all the female fans to begin toeing the line of infidelity.

During the MVP interview after the match, everyone held their breath and eagerly watched this newcomer.

Only to see the boy accept the microphone, smile and ask, “That water friend with the StarTV user ID ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you be mailing your head over?”

After a certain regular season match finished, the staff member went backstage to urge the team members to go onstage and conduct their interviews, only to see TTC’s new mid laner and jungler standing in the corner.

TTC’s number one ace · jungler daddy Road pressed their team’s new mid laner Soft against the wall. He lowered his eyes and asked slowly, “In the interview later, do you know what to do?”

That quick-tempered mid laner, who had solidified his image as a troll in the audience’s eyes the very first time he went on stage, was currently blushing completely red. “I know. I won’t curse at anyone… I definitely won’t curse at anyone.”

I love almost everything that's happened (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) However, I wonder if it would be possible to not use countries that are from reality because it's uncomfortable to read. And I'm not saying this from just this one novel; but from multiple ones, especially from the E-Sports genre.

There's also the minimal female characters that are competitive gamers and not just from the streamer category. I'm not saying that they should be completely made into saints but there shouldn't be so much animosity either. This novel had only... more>> one that was named and she wasn't a bad person either; there was even the point that the MC made as to why the either person wasnt punished as well which was nice.

ANYWAYSSSS!!!! I'll be waiting for more Soft Dad and crew's adventures! (☆▽☆) <<less

This is a cute funny story and easy read. It's a good read to take your mind off of things for a bit. The MC's character shines without coming off as a total Gary Stu and ML is not one of those typical cold faced domineering types. The relationships are not problematic.

What stands out is the way the author uses netizens comments. I usually hate these in stories because it's used to set up some face-slapping or further prop up the MC/ML's characters and the comments aren't funny and just... more>> a waste of space. But here, the comments are pretty funny and have "personality" to them. It adds to the MC's character that's not all about propping. So kudos to the author for pulling it off.

Like other reviewers have pointed out, the con is the xenophobia. But it's not as bad as I've seen in other novels that has me dropping the book entirely. I do skip over those parts and you won't miss anything if you do too. <<less

Recommended. I wrote this comment just to put the vote

But if I have to say something the story is really good and sweet. I like the e-sport part and how the relationship is not rushed and how every character has his own personality.

Okay so this is a little bit of plot. Excuse me for the spoiler..

Spoiler

MC has a dirty mouth, and is famous because of that. He insulted almost all of the pro players, even a commentator. So after the rules of his live streaming platform updated, his live stream was suspended because of him being underage. Without his ‘job’, he needs to find one. Thus sends an application to his Idol to become a professional player. He’s on his way to abuse the professional players even more.

started reading this novel against my own reason and logic. started it at 11 pm and pulled an all nighter reading it... unfortunate but not unexpected.

loved it. OP MC who's strong, sarcastic, and the gentlest ML ever, honestly. ML spoils MC so much ever since the start, it's actually so fluffy. I don't think I would have been able to take how much the MC embarrassed himself and was like shy in front of the ML if the ML weren't that gentle and pampering towards him. not much drama at... more>> all, basically just happy fluff. cute side characters, satisfying slice of life. definitely recommend. <<less

It's a great novel, and I'm really enjoying reading it. The only complaint I have and the reason it's not five stars is that the League descriptions could be better. For those who don't play League of Legends it's fine, consider it five stars. Same for those who only play casually and don't really understand the game. But while the author writes about League much better than probably 90% of other League stories, there is still a gap. For example, I'm pretty sure they don't even know what wave management... more>> is, and it's a really important concept for high level play. I don't mind them glossing over stuff, but it can get a little frustrating when things aren't explained or don't make sense and are then used as a plot point in some way. The author has also said they created their own meta, but it's still a little hard to swallow when the commentators say Rek'sai is better for a 40+ minute game than Graves... The pick ban might be the worst part because of that. The author directly glosses over team comps and bans, which is a rather important part of the game.

But if this review sounded like a bunch of gibberish to you, enjoy the great story! <<less

The main couple is great. I really liked the MC and the ML, and this novel also portrays a lot of non-s*xual intimacy that many Danmei neglect--to clarify, too often two love interests only hug, kiss, and have s*x. In this novel, the MC and ML express their affection through many different gestures and words and I appreciated that a lot.

The reason I rate it 4/5 is because I do agree that the treatment of Korean characters made me uncomfortable. Insults thrown at fellow Chinese players were based on their... more>> personality or skill, while most of the insults the MC threw at the Koreans referred to how their language sounded ugly and, well, it boiled down to discriminating them for being Korean. I forget the exact wording but imagine something akin to Americans calling Chinese "ching chong", but the equivalent of that towards the Korean language.

Even in the case of one of the side-characters from the "good" faction (the "bad" faction being the big Korean team because they were the main antagonists), named Savior, from the moment he was introduced and throughout the rest of the novel he was just made fun of for being Korean and being bad at Chinese. So many xenophobic jabs are aimed his way when he's not even one of the "bad guys". <<less

If you are looking for a novel that focused on e-sport and professional gaming with a side of romance then this is for you.

To started, I am not familiar with League of legend (LoL) but the author describes all the skills and moves well. Every battles are easily imagined but... too predictable.

For the MC, he has a foul mouthed attitude (I can relate LMAO) but owns up to what he says. His skills in the game are like a GOD or a genius. Even he tr*shed talk 80% of the... more>> novel, I think his tr*sh-talk is cute, not like a brat or cringe way. Yea I understand that the way he talk seems very rude but everyone around him is fine with it. I did not find that to be rude but more like casual talking around people that he comfortable with.

The ML is like typical cool and all rounder ML. The only thing that is special about him was his open-minded about homos*xual relationships. He educated the MC about that topic. He also very soft towards the MC. From admiring MC’s skills to adored MC. ML’s feelings are naturally developed.

CP was not forced at all, more like a slow-burn teammates relationship. The author wrote the CP pretty well in my opinion.

I gave this a 4/5 for the characters and storyline. -1 cause of the xenophobia (it just feels odd and real that I personally seen before).

P/s: I do not want to talk about this but most of the Chinese novels that I read kinda included xenophobia... I don’t understand why authors keep putting xenophobia in their works... <<less

The highlight from this story is pure comedy. The writer is VERY HUMOROUS. However, when it comes to the game, it's narrated so boringly and confusingly, I always skip it because they'll win anyway... and that's the problem. The MC's romance is more of the highlight than sports for me.
The upside of this is that MC's personality is unique, you might say a breath of fresh air. The third party barrage is hilarious, and the side characters are decent enough.
A similar one to this is 'FOG', but 'I can Do It' is much more tasteful. I love both of the translators though (They are good with translating Chinese comedy to English equivalent). If you want a good fluffy E-sport romance where the MC and his fans are just as entertaining is 'You Boys Play Games Very Well' (Though the translator DIRECTLY translates the Chinese comedy which isn't funny, but you'll still chuckle from time to time).

Seeing so many 5 stars review had me questioning my standards.

Honestly, this is definitely not my favorite e-sports novel. I kept picking it up and then dropping it. There isn’t really a specific reason, I wasn’t even that bothered by the xenophobia, I just got bored. I think this author’s work in particular doesn’t suit my tastes. I’ve read several other works, which had high ratings as well, and the common factor is that I find them tedious to read. I struggle to plough through them. I eventually finished them,... more>> except for this one, but instead of excitement or enjoyment, I feel relieved that I finally finished it. They are works I wouldn’t reread. I have no idea why, maybe it’s the pacing or something. I don’t know if it’s just me but while I would find it entertaining in the beginning, it would gradually die off. I do hope to enjoy it like the rest of the readers but it’s weird how my tastes work. <<less

Although this book frequently gives me secondhand embarrassment, it also didn't fail on giving me butterflies and excitement. I think what sets it apart from others (especially the ones who are in the same genre as this) is how the author excellently describes what 'youth romance' is. Yes, MC is young. Yes, he should be unfamiliar and curious about stuff (like romance), and yes, it is normal!

Interactions between teammates, fans, and also the whole LPL industry are truly hilarious.

Also a major warning - like almost all E-sports novels out there,... more>> this one also had that sprinkle of toxic nationalism and stuff, but other than that, there are no complaints about this book.

In the end, I gave this a pleasant 4.5 stars. <<less

The writing is good and the plot flows at a decent pace. It strikes a nice balance between the plot and the gaming scenes. I really liked the characters’ personalities and the fight Jian Rong had in him.

The translation is also fantastic - well done, easy to read, and footnotes for the terms - so that really added to the enjoyment.

I dropped one star because, for me, it didn’t seem like there was anything that made it anything too different from other gaming BL novels. Also, the dropped mark takes... more>> the xenophobia into account. I know these kinds of gaming stories always like to include a Korean/Chinese rivalry which is fine and often adds to the story, but at some parts (not all), rather than competitive jabs it seemed to go too far passed that into the realm of offensive and xenophobic that at times made me feel quite uncomfortable. <<less

Best e-sports novel I’ve read so far.

Second re-read!

Excellent use of the barrage and in chat gaming/texting/social platforms to communicate the story. The exchanges are so witty and funny and just badass (xD)

Some realistic ups and downs, generally feel good tropes done very well. The ‘coaxing’ and the grumpy boy giving in and learning/growing is a joy to read.

Good to have some basic understanding of tower pushing games to appreciate it even more. But the way it’s written, you can still get into it even without that knowledge.

hmmm.. Well 🤣 I had fun reading this novel.. Actually it took me awhile to realise that their romance was indeed slow burn, but if you think about it, it makes sun. There's no such thing as "Love at first sight" but the admiration was there so it didn't look like it was force when both CP realized that they really like their respective Partners.

That arc with Little Orange, that really touched my heart.

It's not my first time to read a story like this so I kind of enjoy... more>> it, so I hope other readers would enjoy reading this novel too. Thank you! - RottenApple (my username, dumbAss! 😎) <<less

Its pretty cute and funny story. I love the bantering between the MC and his fans. The plot has a nice gradual building up and its straight foward. The relationship between MC and ML is so cute!

If you ever watched "Falling into your Smile", the plot is similar to that drama, except its not a straight couple.
