This story is frustrating. You'll think it's Stockholm syndrome if you don't read until the end without skimming or skipping. Because why the hell would you still love and forgive your captor and tormenter, am I rite?

Most first half of the story is told from the FL's perspective, she was depressed and wanted revenge to ML cuz he tormented her in her last life.

The problem with this story is the FL perspective almost always paint ML in very bad light, with occasional, oh he did helped me a little and... more>> the rest was how he torments her psychologically and physically (I think with sex? It was implied so...). THIS LAST FOR MORE THAN HALF THE STORY.

Can you imagine? The ML's perspective on how he protects FL was told at the END. That's why many people who read this story review this as garbage and they can't forgive ML. Because I can't too. At the end I can't even sympathize with FL anymore.

So, read at your own risk. I gave 3 stars for the funny beginning and the translation. <<less

Oh my god this was amazing, this is a must read!

The MC was the white moonlight with a tragic life of the Male Lead in a book. She dies, comes back to the time she was a highschooler and is bound to the study system (gasp - this is a new one). She makes a name for herself while studying and winning competitions, makes wonderful friends and plays around with those who want to do her dirty.

This novel seemed unique to me for the way our MC slaps the bad... more>> people - she doesn't take the limelight most of the times, she wants to be low key, so she directly messes with the bad guy. When put in a difficult position by someone, she would do something to make the person become a laughingstock without implicating her. Amazing. A new approach to face slapping, I absolutely loved it!

Another amazing thing was the humor. The way she dealt with people, including the Male Lead, was absolutely comical.

Her relationship with the Male Lead is also very interesting. In her first life, he was indeed wrong. And compared to other novels, when they redeemed the ML in the end, they didn't lightly brush off his behavior and she didn't just get blinded by his good behavior and excused him. He had to completely come clean and his reasons were accepted by me (I'm very picky when it comes to redemption) as he was not in control of his life.. None of the people from their first life were actually.

I will definitely come back one day to reread. There was no tragedies involved, no angst. My mood while reading was very good, which I appreciate.

Before I read this, I was actually a bit sceptic since a lot were talking about how bad the ML is, but I was intrigued nonetheless so I read it still. Now I'm still at the middle of the story and I am extremely sATISFIED. MC in general *chefs kiss* I LOVE HER OMG SHE'S SO HILARIOUS HASHAHSHSA. While reading it, I understood why some showed dislike towards the ML or how he's the OG ML and whatnot. I do understand their point but after what I've read, I just... more>> can't help but also want to share my opinion about him. Please do mind that this is but a personal opinion of mine, you can ignore or agree, whatever you want.

The biggest reason for the readers' dislike towards ML was definitely because of how he was portraited from their previous life. Again, I do understand. First chapter right off the bat it was a very unpleasant scenario in which is was portraited that Lu Zhen (ML) sexually assaulted Chu Yin (MC). Tbh I'm not so sure if it was really SA but with how frightened MC was there it was most likely the case. It was also portraited how obsessed Lu Zhen was with her to the point of completely isolating her with the outside world and just straight up imprisoned her like a doll. Technically a yandere. Now now, I'm not saying that whatever I'm gonna say would make the him from before acceptable, no no he was absolutely terrifying as well as disgusting and it shouldn't be romanticized just because he's the ML, BUT, I do have a bit of a theory as to why he changed from the typical OP ML good student type to the OP Yandere ML instead. So, here are the few reason I THINK is the reason for his sudden obsession from their first life.

    • Chu Yin, MC, herself.
      - as we all know, the biggest change from their previous and present life, is MC herself. The MC now is well liked both by readers as well as the characters from the novel, which was obviously not something that happened just overnight, she's been through a lot just before the student body started admiring her. She was completely unlike herself from the first life, which was portraited as someone na

      ve, too innocent, and was a fool. Technically the type that's easily manipulated. Now now, I'm not saying that its her own fault for being like that, that she's in the wrong for being born that way or that it was her fault that she went missing when she was a child so now she's seen as the country bumpkin. None of that was her fault and it was the public's fault for pushing sin on her for any of that. But, if you've read a lot of chinese novels, you'd know at this point that side characters like this is completely normal it sometimes scares me. Either way, the point is that with how soft and na

      ve she was from before, she was completely at disadvantage towards any harassment done to her. So, the situation always goes this way. People harass her -> she gets embarrassed -> then Lu Zhen appears -> and as she's completely in her vulnerable state and complete loss, it's normal for her to think how nice and handsome Lu Zhen was to always save her like a knight and shining armor. With that being said, the key point here is how different Chu Yin was from before and now. With how she was before, she was completely clueless and viewed Lu Zhen as her savior from their harassments, but now after going through what she'd been through, she wasn't the same from before. Rather than hopelessly clinging onto him, she does everything she can in order to not interact with him. She's more independent as well as calculative now than before, which also makes Lu Zhen act differently than before. Just from the part I've read up which is just up to ch 29 still, Lu Zhen is already showing a bit of possessiveness despite not having any relationship with Chu Yin, so I could just guess how it happened from their past life. With how helpless Chu Yin was and how she saw Lu Zhen reliable before, it wouldn't be surprising to say that she was most likely being shielded by Lu Zhen from any possible danger if he can. So, thinking of how Lu Zhen's brain work, he would have been always worried that something would happen to her or that someone would take her away. And again, with how soft and na

      ve she was before, it wouldn't be weird for him to be ticked off from any attention given to her, be it good or bad attention, he doesn't want any of it towards her.

    • The environment - from their past life, despite Chu Yin being the school's flower, she wasn't really adored or appreciated like she is now. Because she wasn't serious about studies from before, she was seen as a vase (technically just a pretty face) so most attention towards her were malicious greed from the boys and extreme jealousy from the girls. This means that any type of harassment was possible at like, every corner of the school at that time, which makes her pretty vulnerable. Compared to now, she went to school completely covering up both her looks as well as her body so students were just talking bad about her origins. But of course after all that happened, the exam; her being the first in the whole grade, the english competition with other schools and her ending up being the champion, the sports festival and her just participating in billiards but also ending up being the champion, now students don't recklessly bad mouth her anymore. Unlike before, countless girls and boys admire and fancy her now. There are still those that are full of envy like side characters (that are all tr*sh btw) but at least now she's got them limited. So with that difference, in the previous environment, Lu Zhen would have been so worried about her being harassed by anyone, but now although that's still possible, it would only end up in a rather interesting scenes since Chu Yin now has a system that could make her change anything in the script in exchange of completing tasks. So in short, Chu Yin wasn't as vulnerable as before, she's more mature and clever now which makes her almost resistant to harassment by now. Of course, not that those tr*sh side characters would stop trying anyways LMAO.

    • The way Lu Zhen was brought up - this is the last and most logical reason I can think of. It's not something that was explicitly explained in the narration but I believe it's pretty much common sense. As we all know, he was the typical OP ML that can do anything, means that he was brought up having anything and everything he wanted, and being able to do anything he could think of. Like most MLs that are bored of everyday life since they could have anything like just a snap of a finger. With that fact, it wouldn't be weird for him to want to also possess Chu Yin like in the first life. He was more infatuated with her the more he interacted with her and doesn't like how people keeps on bugging her, like bees bugging on a precious and innocent flower. He didn't like any of that so he would have been completely protective of her. With that, it could have been for pure reasons at first in their time at the school, like him actually liking her and just wanting to have her be his, bUT, as time passes on and with people just keeps on piling, wanting to either have her or hurt her, it's possible that it triggered his more selfish side. I don't know, maybe a specific event happened that could have been a changing point in his personality, but I feel like something triggered him to forget his rationality and just exploded. That would have explained why he ignored their family customs as well as the social status or differences between their family. He became the head of the Lu Family and straight up picked her up and imprisoned her since then so that no one could see or hear her ever again, so that no one could ever bother them. Then it wouldn't be so weird that being able to be finally alone with her, at this point he's no where rational so he did the thing he shouldn't have done and sexually assaulted her. Again, it was portraited that Chu Yin also liked him before so since they've technically been through a lot, in Lu Zhen's perspective, it wouldn't be surprising if he ignored or just blatantly didn't notice Chu Yin's protests to whatever he did and did it nonetheless. His mind that time was completely on lock down, with her just being in his arms the only thing that mattered.

With all that combined, I really don't think its surprising that he became like what he was portraited as. Again, it doesn't mean that it makes what he did acceptable. No, it was completely unreasonable and out of line. It's just that the point of this feedback is that I think that there is a

reason. Not reasonable but a reason nonetheless. I just can't help but want to share what I think since I keep on seeing few comments saying how they can't stand the ML or that they don't like him. I understand, I really do. Still, I really just want others to see it in his perspective at least. But then again, I just started reading this so I haven't reached any narration or explanation about his past actions so I can't say that these are the actual reasons, I just wanna show such possibilities that could have made him who he was before.

The biggest factor of this story is definitely Lu Zhen's (ML) character because of how he was portraited as a typical yandere that's obsessed and sh*t with Chu Yin (MC) which is why now being reborn, she wants to kill him. It really started off with pretty decent pace, for me I personally felt how she really doesn't want to interact with him, even how she really wants to hit him at times. She spent definitely like 50+ chapters hating the dude so I understand why some said that it's absurd how she kept on saying how she hates him yet just a few sweet words from him and now she's in love again-- nO. JUST NO. One thing I can say for sure about Chu Yin after finishing this novel, is that she's a tsundere. We see her keeping the line between her and Lu Zhen and it's actually satisfying since there's still no explanations at that point bUT, it doesn't mean that she doesn't care. She doesn't want to be involved with Lu Zhen's personal matters but ended up helping him couple of times because she felt bad as well as she doesn't want him to lose to such villain aka the pe*vert uncle. Nonetheless the reason, she cares for him enough mostly at the ending after all that they've been through. AND am not saying there's anything bad about that, I actually find her very endearing AAAA SO CUTE.

ALSO, the issue about the ML is a HUGE MISUNDERSTANDING. I still can't get over that I finished this already so my heart's still pounding and I wanna say A LOT of stuff but this is enough spoilers HAHA.

This ML reminds me of MC in Husky and white cat shizun. At first it makes readers think of them as the worst MLs but actually the most pitiful ones in their whole novel.

The story hooks me up with MC's witty and hilarious solutions chapter by chapter.

Although their past is tragic, the way the author carries the present is lighthearted and amusing.

At first I thought it would trigger my past trauma because the theme is possessive and controlling relationship but no this novel doesn't have any of those unreasonable yandere ML.

The author keeps most of the plots hidden so if you don't read to the end you won't see the gem.

I'm glad that I accidentally read this novel without seeing the tags and reviews. If I had I might not pick it up.

The FL is so quirky I just love her!!! And I really like her brother and her deskmate.. But I absolutely hate ml, I don't want to know why he behaved like a psycho in the first but he's attitude is totally unacceptable, I kinda feel bad because I think he's going to be the ML again, it would have been better if the new life was based on only FL and her achievement, but I'm still curious how the novel is going to turn next..

This is really good, it's very funny and the FL is smart and plans ahead, but plot still sometimes f*cks her over which is really funny. Ok regarding the MC in the past, he's possessive but he still let her do whatever she wants and the FL learnt a lot because of him, starting from attending Ivy League schools to learning self defense were all because of him and he helped her. So I like the novel even more cause at the core the ML is not a shitty person.... more>> And the FL's revenge is hilarious.

Gotta feel bad for the ML, he didn't do anything in this life but gets rekt cause of the FL. Poor guy, he keeps trying to talk with her and improve her opinion of him, but she always ignores him or straight up takes revenge on him.

Update 1: 41 Chapters in and I still bad for the ML. They story is still hilarious. The FL uses the worst possible ways to escape from the situations, and they say that she's smart... She's dumb in everything else except the academic stuff, and she had to work really hard for that. She has low EQ.

I was hesitant to read this at first because of some of the reviews, but thankfully I didn't think much of it because this novel is really good.

FL and ML both deserved a happy ending for all the pains that they experienced in their past lives.

OK so far I'm loving the FL and her creative ways and out of the box ideas to make the ML one unfortunate chap. As for the official ML well, based on his previous description and decisions on the previous life, he's obviously very toxic.

I honestly don't like the fact that he is still the official male lead. I'm gonna root for the actual nice guy, he seems chill and overall a gentleman to the female lead. We'll see if the malelead is somewhat a better person in the present... more>> lifetime. <<less

I have been enjoying this immensely. Reading this while this is ongoing is a regret that I will carry, because it's so damn funny (so far) ! I love the heroine who is out to KILL this man and her wit to get out of sticky situations. This is probably my favorite straight romance novel so far. I hope it continues to get better! (And I check updates for this regularly, I just want to read this T_T)

Edit: I finally finished this after a while, and I really enjoyed... more>> reading it! There were quite some twists and turns that makes you understand why the main lead, horrible as he is portrayed, had done what he did. I recommend reading it! The translations are great and it's quite an easy read :) <<less

The description provided on the page is basically true to the story. However, despite MC's efforts, the ML still somehow becomes interested in her. I personally think this novel could have continued well without the romance aspect or it should have made the romance only a sub plot and continued having MC escape from the original novel plot to become a Golden Miss.

I'll give the author props for not making the villains and extras have low IQ. Usually in these types of novels they are often s*upid such as when... more>> the MC gets high grades they will still call her s*upid because she's a commoner or something. Another thing that's different from other novels is that MC doesn't have a poisonous tongue. Instead she just tries to keep a low profile, doesn't talk to people, etc. She still gives the people trying to cause her trouble a slap in the face, but that's through changing a word in the script to have them lose face themselves. Often times the word change tends to be funny, at least in the first 20 chapters.

However, knowing the ending, I do not regret not finishing this novel. It was fun at the start, but it became boring. I did not enjoy the ML coming into the picture. <<less

Rebirth with a quirky system. The way she rewrites her story make for some really funny scenes. Read this novel if just for that. In addition, the author will not let you forget that the male protagonist has a brown-red mole at the corner of his eyes.

One a slightly more serious side, this novel shows that the story is skewed because of our point of view but it doesn't mean that it embodies the 100% truth.

I read on MTL. At first I got hooked by MC golden finger which she need to learn to change the plot. Then I got bored since the plot is on repeat. Supporting characters try to sabotage MC, MC change the plot to avoid, some scum males trying to woo MC, MC change the plot, ML try to get closer to MC, MC change the plot.... So easy to change the plot and MC will avoid any unwanted events. Due to golden finger I don't think there's climax in this... more>> novel. I keep skipping a lot of chapters and hoping it got better but it's not.

ML got his memories from past life and counter attack his uncle which is the villain who make him paranoid and imprisoned MC because he want to make sure MC is save. Actually after MC died, ML found her again in different body/identity. MC tried to kill ML and ML give his life to MC but MC never kill him and left to rebirth on 17 years old. ML su*cide on the last life after MC left second time and meet MC in 17 years old current time.... I like rebirth, transmigration story but if you make it multiple, the essence is lost. It's like current timeline is specifically for MC and ML to get together.

Do read. This one's a new type, quite interesting and very good too...

I saw some reviews angry at the ML saying that he's a rapist and all, I can assure that these people haven't read it till end, cause its all explained in time.

Plot developed very well, there's immediate face slapping (cheats), most scenes being funny, great friends, no love triangle or second male lead stuff and (╯✧▽✧) ╯Song Zhaolin (a precious baby son).

The very LAST SCENE was the best. (/▽＼*) ｡o○♡

I think I'm going to have to reread this series in the original text because syntax and word choice really affects how much I enjoy a series. The translator did a good job though - I still enjoyed the series.

The story could have been better though. The side characters weren't drawn out well enough - their main purpose was just to highlight the main characters and move the story along. Granted, the female lead did say this was a ridiculous book world so no one acts like a normal human... more>> being, but still. Good stories need good characters.

The overall plot was OK, but I would have liked more buildup in the subplot of what happened in the previous life after she died. <<less

Not expecting much, but this is actually a good read.

I thought it would be boring, but it's not! I enjoyed how FL tried made the ML suffers by changing the script. Sometimes it makes me laugh. I also like that the plot is nicely built! This story is interesting and a bit different with another romance chinese novel.

Recommended if you want a short nice story.

I love this novel. I've reread it a few times but each time I never fail to laugh at the same scenes, they just don't get old. The MC does eventually get together with the ML (I'm not mentioning names to avoid spoilers :)) and even though it's not my favourite CP, I can see how it's cute. The side characters are all very well written- Lin Lin is adorable! And although I did question the logic at times, it is still a fantasy novel so cut it some slack... more>> lol. The only thing I maybe had a problem with would be the ending. It does work well as an open ending but I really wish that it was more final, though that could just be me being picky. All in all, I definitely rate this 5 stars and will almost certainly read again in the near future! <<less

He is bound by the plot, but he awakened. The plot controls him that's why it seemed like he's abusive. The truth is that he is protecting her, but everytime he tries to explain why he can't let her go, the plot puts him in a lot of pain.
