Guide To Raising the Sick Villain

Qiao Lan transmigrated into a novel.

She became a cannon-fodder who was rescued by the heroine after being bullied but was jealous of the heroine because of her love for the hero and ultimately ended up miserable.

When she first entered the novel, Qiao Lan met a cannon fodder more pitiful than her. He was bullied, severely autistic, and had crippled legs.

Qiao Lan: …

Thinking of the male partner who had only been able to live for two years, Qiao Lan had a distressed conscience and began to take care of the gloomy boy.

2 years later, they had both become each other’s lift and the boy would stand up again and be able to hold her.

***

She had seen a passage when she was reading a book about Asperger’s Syndrome. The passage had explained that people with Asperger’s Syndrome generally suffered from “love disorder”. Some believe that a small percentage of people with Asperger’s Syndrome have an IQ far exceeding that of ordinary people, but their EQ is much lower than that of ordinary people. In terms of emotions, they are more like children with blank slates.

That’s why Qiao Lan was so sure that Tan Mo would never like her. He would rely on her, take care of her, and protect her, but he would not like her like a man likes a woman because Tan Mo did not understand this type of emotion.

Some say that some people with Asperger’s Syndrome will never understand what love is in their entire lives. Perhaps a number of people will understand, but in some cases, people on the higher scale of AS are too paranoid and sometimes overarchingly possessive. With this came a large amount of trouble that came from being too obsessed with one person. Few people could understand or handle such love, which leads to tragedy.

Probably the best written romance with the love interest with disabilities. This type of romance has always been interesting to me as both MC and ML has to overcome in order to not only be happy but comfortable with each other.

I really like the author giving not only the ML insight on his thoughts but also giving him the chance to figure out his feelings by himself. There's no people that decide what's right for him or what's wrong with him. He slowly discovers them on his own.

The MC is... more>> also interesting. Her motivation and her personality she really fits with the ML. Her attentiveness and adaptation towards her situations and surroundings was the most fun to read.

No spoilers for the ending this is midway into the novel but so far it is pretty good. <<less

Just read first 2 chapters and I can't help but MTL the whole novel.

It was honestly perfect. It's just pure love from two people who have shortcomings and depended on each other and grew from their issues together. Gosh their chemistry, the shown moments by the author is perfect. Will def reread!!!

The MC transmigrated into a novel where she was villain, and seeks to befriend the ML. The ML has Asperger syndrome and is in a wheelchair due to a car accident. He is withdrawn and unsociable due to the bullying and isolation at school. MC want to reach out to the ML and tries become closer to him (I don't know much about Asperger's so I won't comment about the novel's accuracy).

I really like the MC in this novel. She is very patient, tolerant and genuinely kind, but she can... more>> also be witty at times. Although she tries to reach out to the ml, she doesn't do this forcefully and respects the ML and his space whenever he isn't receptive to her. I also like that she actually tries to understand his condition.

The MC works hard in her studies and I like that she has her strengths and weaknesses in that regard. The relationship between the two is developing at a realistic pace, the trust between them builds gradually and throughout the novel as they are slowly trying to understand each other despite their differences. ML has difficulties in understanding emotions, and holds a lot of trauma from his past.

Overall this novel so far is very enjoyable and sweet. There is no romance at the moment, only a steadily growing relationship. <<less

Not rating because I'm tryna be fair since I'm dropping this at chapter 5, eventhough I reeeeaaaally wanna rate this lower.

My complaints (not spoiler free but I made it vague so newcomers can have an idea of what's to come) :

Oh, good translation

only with the occasional mistyped word as far as I read.

Spoiler
    • It feels like the condensed form of every popular trope in all modern romance isekai. What you can think of is what appears.
    • The way the topic of disability is handled feels iffy, like it's a tool to make the story "not like other stories". The ease in deciding what exactly goes on in the ML's head
      which seems nonsensically written imo

so easily when it's still a debatable topic of this day, it just rubs me the wrong way.

    • I don't care about age gaps, I never really care if the transmigrated FL is older. In this case though, it's annoying that the writing emphasises on her "she's a college student before she transmigrated" and that her elevated understanding to her middle school peers is something worth mentioning.
    • The surrounding characters are annoying. I don't know how many times the author kept stating "X people began to alienate her" like her classroom consists of 1000 students, it's like a neverending amount of people and at some point the bully kept changing seats? Idk if I read that wrong or what.
[collapse]

All in all I couldn't stick around since it felt that the writing would stay consistently vaguely annoying.

It's a sweet high school romance with a little face slapping here and there. But I decided to stop right here because from chapter 71 and onwards the translator changed and the rest of the chapters are MTLs (and I tell you, they are not edited MTLs). I have always hate reading MTL and after a few chapters in I decided to not read anymore (my eyes burns and my brain hurts lol).

I love this! If you're into following a character as they grow personally and see the pair befriend each other and move into romance, then this book for you!

I love how possessive Tan Mo (the guy) and I think it makes sense with how few people he has in life that he would be like that, and have abandonment issues.

I love how strong our female lead is!

Seeing the really high rating got me really expecting a lot for this novel- but maybe too high. I love this novel, but maybe just not to the point of getting me obsessed over the story, since I was more into an intriguing story that makes me curious to the point of obsession, rather than the light kind of story. But still, overall I felt happy that I found and read this novel. It was a good read, I still love it <3

The story was a kind of slice-of-life stories... more>> of the characters, since their high school days until uni days and so on. It was a light story, fluffy and sweet. Entertaining to read, I just love love all the sweetness~

I love the characters. I love the FL, I love the ML. I love how selfless he was with the FL. I love how their relationships are like the one and only puzzle pieces that fits perfectly with each other. It was soothing to read.

p.s: The later part of the chapters have a lot of translation mistakes so it might be a bit confusing to read. <<less

NOOOOOOOO I WANT MOOOREEEEEE

I love this novel. I love Lan Lan and Mo Mo so much.

Another character that I didn't expect that I will like is Romain (not sure with the name but that how it is in the trans). I love that the author didn't make her character so one dimensional and like the typical jealous/envious type of girl. She's so cute and I love her!!!

On the contrary, I so hate hate Xiang Xioahan (is this right? Forgot her name already) and Ji Su. One is malicious due to... more>> envy while the other is due to his twisted sense of righteousness.

But the characters are really well written and the plot is good. <<less

So I see a lot of people complaining about the translation for the latter half of the novel and honestly, it really isn't that bad. There are consistently swapped pronouns and occasionally names that can make it a bit confusing, but those are really the only issues. It isn't that hard to autocorrect them in your mind. I was initially very apprehensive about the second half of the novel because of the reviews, but it's honestly fine.

This is a novel about two lonely people healing, finding solace in each other... more>> and growing together in my opinion. I feel as though Tan Mo's disabilities are very realistically handled. Unfortunately, that means it's very bittersweet as you see a lot of ableism. From what my personal knowledge (not that I am an expert) about Asperger's as well as what I have seen from friends in my life that have it, it is quite an accurate depiction.

The world building and commentary is generally quite realistic as well. There are a lot of haters for the protagonists, but there are also a surprising amount of side/background characters that make intelligent and rational commentary. It's a nice addition, especially when more often than not side characters tend to just make judgements without critically thinking.

Both of them are very human characters that have natural insecurities and think the world of one another--with some tropes here and there. One such trope is

Tan Mo coming from a very rich family

[collapse]
but I personally don't really find it to be a bother.

Some things to note, it is an isekai but honestly, the isekai portion is almost completely irrelevant. The ogML and ogFL are nothing but side characters and Qiao Lan and Tan Mo could care less about them.

I binged this novel over the course of two days and it was so good. The amount of depth, patience and love put into describing the FL and ML's feelings is so incredibly lovely. The two go through so much character development together, especially Tan Mo.

Both leads are very likeable. Qiao Lan is hardworking, pragmatic, honest, communicative but she isn't perfect. She realizes some areas where she could have made Tan Mo feel more secure and truly makes an effort to understand him and compromise. It's honestly really refreshing to see a FL willing to be vulnerable with her love interest as well. He is the only person that has that privilege. She is a particularly upright person as well and forms proper relationships with other people.

She takes so much time to help open up Tan Mo's heart and show him he's worthy of love and Tan Mo, in return is an incredibly devoted male lead that strives to constantly be better for Qiao Lan. His world revolves around her. He goes out of his comfort zone for her,
Spoiler

goes to physical therapy despite his PTSD for her,

[collapse]
tries to form other relationships for her and does his absolute best to be worthy of her. Qiao Lan also does the same, but because of Tan Mo's past trauma he is significantly more insecure. Poor baby gets bullied so much.

Qiao Lan teaches Tan Mo how to emote, process and communicate. Tan Mo teaches her physics (lol) and to rely on others. Both of them each one another self-love.

The author spends a significant amount of time explaining the thought process and insecurities of the characters and it doesn't ever feel like it's dragging. The pacing is just right and it really helps you get attached to the characters, understand them and bring them to life.

My only critiques would be that while the novel ending does make sense, it does feel incredibly sudden even taking the extra chapters into account. I would have really liked to see 2-3 chapters of the aftermath of the incident at the end. Aside from that, I would have preferred more development into their intimacy in their university arc. Something that had a lot of hinting but was unexpected glossed over was their

first night. There was so much build up, especially since they are in adolescence and technically Qiao Lan's mental age is older. I wasn't asking for an R-19 love scene or anything, though that would have been great but at least showing a bit more of of the build up so a fade to black was at least natural. Instead they basically just go to a hotel on his birthday and then the next chapter he is washing her in the tub. That's it. It felt like it got pushed to the backburner and it was really a shame to see, especially given both of their apprehensiveness as well as circumstances. I really wanted to see how Tan Mo in particular tackled that level of intimacy.

[collapse]

If you love slow burn, devoted leads and a lot of healing and character development with as much drama as necessary, I think you will love this novel. Either way, I recommend it. It's very well written.

Thank you again to the translators as well! <<less

I'm gonna add up to the hundred plus reviews of how this story is good:

Who can resist an ML whose whole world literally revolves around one person alone? That right there, deserves a 5.

Spoiler warning, though: i've never hated a family as much as I did MC's. So be warned with that. I realized my curse words are quite limited after reading how scum they are. With how hateful these characters are, as opposed to how admirable MC is for being a steadfast, resolute and unwavering woman to an ML... more>> whose emotional struggle and growth really could sweep a reader away--- I must say, the author did a superb job. This is the reason we read-- to imagine that a love like this exists, one that is so unconditional that compromises are easily made and done, that misunderstandings can be easily resolved with communication, a love where sacrifices are made without second thoughts, whole-heartedly and unblinkingly. This is the reason it's always satisfying to read a psychological story no matter how long. It deals with the innermost thoughts and feelings, brings to light the darkness inside, while making a reader confront her own. Thank you very much dear author and translators. Truly worthy of high ratings. <<less

I have so many things to say about this novel cos I was not expecting myself to really love it cos im picky and what ppl normally like, I dont. so that's why I give a try on a whim but since others reviewer pretty much already say all it so I'll make it simple.

-Believe the positive review and give a try. You won't regret

-i cried and laughed and you might be too but not from the angst but from the devotion of love they had for each other.

-the fluff is first grade, the characters are well written and the plot is simple yet addicting. it's like eating a very high quality dessert with a cheap price, which is not often so the taste is something you would remember for a long time...

-the after taste of reaching the last chapter it's like drinking your favorite soup on a cold day after going home and it's lightly pouring outside. Just pure satisfaction

Positives:

  • The author did a good job explaining a lot of characters' motivations and thought processes. One example would be Ji Su. I think the author explained the backstory to his parents' love lives, how it affected him, and how that affected his opinions in the present and explained why he's acting the way he is. Same with the younger brother and his actions snowballing over the course of the story.
  • The FL did not give a hoot about the OG storyline. It's a pet peeve of mine in transmigration stories so I'm glad that 0 thought went into "BuT I NeEd To MaKe SuRe ThE FL aNd ML StAy ToGEtheR!!"
  • Slow progression of the love story
Improvements:

  • FL's family just kinda disappears after a certain point. I guess the author thought that was resolved but idk.
  • Sudden ending, I get the author's justification (what the entire point of the story is and that the last chapter was the resolution of that) but like the FL's family plotline, it just happened quite abruptly

I really love the story. I've always dreamed to have a relationship like this one, to have someone who means so much to me and vice-versa, to be obsessed with each other, capable of doing anything fr each other. I love how ML gradually opened up to MC, it took time and I enjoyed every moment of it.

A very good work with a suprisingly good female main character. I do not like reading work from the female perspective, because they most often than not dissapoint me. This was not the case since our MC was a strong, rational but still emotional person than one was able to understand.
The slow build up between her and the ML was very well done and nothing was rushed. The depiction of AS was, from my barely educated aspect, well done. It seemed respectful but still recognizing what kind of stigma existed for people with (mental) disabilities.
The little extras at the end were also very sweet and satisfying.

The Translation may be lacking after ch 71. But its completly readable and understandable. This would be a 100% recommendation from my side if the translation was better.

oh, my second time reading it and really, this novel never fails to amaze me!

FL is really..... to good towards our ML. despite all previous rejections, tries to help and heal him and doesnt even realize that she falls with ML

and ML... really... despite all his weakness, tries his best to protect her. what I like the most is, ML is not a willful person, he knows that his current situation doesnt deserve FL, and that's why he changed himself

what I really impressed is when FL realizes that during their... more>> university years, ML starts to act in front of her, telling everything is okay and doesnt show his true feelings at all. and when FL realizes he did so because of her, she really communicates with ML

i like how FL and ML can communicate each other so there's really no need for a misunderstanding! this shows how communication is important. also, I like how FL is willing to be with ML unconditinally, without particularly hoping that he will get better in the future. FL is willing to help and heal ML and be together with him because it is him, not because he will get better in the future <<less

Unique~ The novel is a gem. The idea and how the story progress is a big thumbs up.

The emotional ups and downs are simple yet its powerful. I love how MC said that she love ML to his truest form and face. ML didn't deceive MC in any way to get her love. MC accept ML for who he is.

I think this story was interesting, and the couple is so sweet. However, I sort of wish some of the side couples had more of a finale in the extras.

I was also quite annoyed by the partially inaccurate description of asperger's syndrome. It's strange that the author makes a distinction between asperger's and autism, considering how it's more common now to just categorize them all as autism or "on the spectrum". The way that the author described the symptoms was more like antisocial personality disorder rather than asperger's.

I was able... more>> to see past that as long as I was reading the green tea translations, but last part of the novel translated by tea novel (while immensely appreciated) made the story much harder to follow and less immersive. The characters and plots began to seem much more ridiculous, though I think that perception was mostly due to the confusion in what was happening. <<less

Very cute, the romance was well paced, I love how the story didn't stick to the original plot of the book and how little it affects the couple.

Also liked how content both the fML and the ML were with each other that the crooked relationships around them didn't need to be fixed for them to feel truly happy.

The retribution against the fml's family felt very satisfying and the overall "dark side" of the male lead didn't felt so out of place like in other stories, on the contrary it was... more>> a nice balance in his character.

I liked the side stories, didn't expect the roommates ending but I enjoyed it.

I had never read a book where the original ML had so little relevance to the story and I appreciated a lot. <<less
