Guide To Raising the Sick Villain

Qiao Lan transmigrated into a novel.

She became a cannon-fodder who was rescued by the heroine after being bullied but was jealous of the heroine because of her love for the hero and ultimately ended up miserable.

When she first entered the novel, Qiao Lan met a cannon fodder more pitiful than her. He was bullied, severely autistic, and had crippled legs.

Qiao Lan: …

Thinking of the male partner who had only been able to live for two years, Qiao Lan had a distressed conscience and began to take care of the gloomy boy.

2 years later, they had both become each other’s lift and the boy would stand up again and be able to hold her.

***

She had seen a passage when she was reading a book about Asperger’s Syndrome. The passage had explained that people with Asperger’s Syndrome generally suffered from “love disorder”. Some believe that a small percentage of people with Asperger’s Syndrome have an IQ far exceeding that of ordinary people, but their EQ is much lower than that of ordinary people. In terms of emotions, they are more like children with blank slates.

That’s why Qiao Lan was so sure that Tan Mo would never like her. He would rely on her, take care of her, and protect her, but he would not like her like a man likes a woman because Tan Mo did not understand this type of emotion.

Some say that some people with Asperger’s Syndrome will never understand what love is in their entire lives. Perhaps a number of people will understand, but in some cases, people on the higher scale of AS are too paranoid and sometimes overarchingly possessive. With this came a large amount of trouble that came from being too obsessed with one person. Few people could understand or handle such love, which leads to tragedy.

I stumble across this amazing novel. This is so cute and heartwarming. As if I'm sitting in the corner watching Tan Mo and Qiao Lan grow in every chapter of this book. Completed reading it on Wattpad and never regret it. Love love it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I caught up with the translated novel and I have to say that this is actually good one with not so much drama and just focuses mainly on the MC and ML. It is very slow paced and I wanted to stop reading after a few chapters because it was too detailed for me which are not that necessary to the flow of story and there's not so much happening but as I continue to read, I admire the author's way of introducing certain things like medical conditions that I... more>> never even heard of. I think that the author really took the time to research for this. I also liked the fact that the author, through this novel, gave us certain awareness to social problems that are very timely particularly with mental health. With the continuous increase of su*cide rate, depressions and such this is actually a good way for the people to understand more about the people who's also going through the same thing as Tan Mo. One thing that really gave a deep impression to me is that this novel constantly talks about people who judged you based on what the society perceives you but they're the ones who never really took the time to actually understand you. It sucks because that's the reality. I guess what we all need is a Qiao Lan in our lives. Someone that could understand you even if it's too difficult for you to even understand yourself.

Anyways, kudos to you author-nim for giving us a novel that not only depicted romance but also gave us awareness to social problems that most people tend to avoid and not understand. And to translator-him who took the time to translate this precious novel. Thank you 💕 <<less

It’s really really good! Trust me and try to read this. The MC and ML are really likable, there’s also soo much fluff, and the story really hooked me up. I finish reading to the latest chapter for just 2 days (I can’t stop reading LOL). The translator also do a very good job, and as long as I remember, there’s always an opening from the translator in every chapter. I don’t know why, but I liked that a lot. Thank you translator 💕. That’s it for now, I can’t... more>> wait for the update, and I’m sorry if my grammar are weird here and there, I hope this review will get you all to read this beautiful story! <<less

Never thought there would be a Chinese novel with such a topic!

You know a novel will be good, when the Author describes many details to a specific topic, this indicates that he/she is mature, smart, did a lot of research or/and had specific experiences in life.

This novel is one of those rare gems. FL transmigrates in a novel she had read and wakes up as the "ugly" and dumb second FL. Later she meets the disabled second ML ... more>>
Spoiler

with Asperger's syndrome

[collapse]
in school, who was her favorite character in the novel. Since in China there are still many prejudices against disabled people, FL immediately wants to befriend him and show everyone how silly their prejudiced thinking is.

Positive Points:

    • FL was quite young in her previous/original life, but she still is really mature, smart, calm, down-to-earth and with typical modern day thinking, which makes her thinking and actions really relatable.
    • One of the rare FLs who isn't interested in art or the entertainment circle (i am so tired and annoyed of FL being an actress),
      Spoiler

but this novel's FL is interested in science!

      [collapse]
    • ML has
      Spoiler

Asperger's Syndrome with very high IQ

      [collapse]
    • Side-characters are mostly 3-Dim Characters
        • some people might have a bit exaggerated features (like most of FL's family), but if you take into consideration China's government (human rights laws) and the typical egoistical human nature, it doesn't seem that weird that there are people like that
    • realistic school environment
    • diabetes inducing interactions between FL and ML
    • mostly realistic relationship problems
    • (not included in my rating for this novel) : superb translation by Kaelyn. Many thanks for translating this novel! (To Readers with bad eyes like me and who maybe don't know this: if you want to read in dark mode on her website, I recommend to install a browser extension like for example "Dark Reader". For Zooming: every browser should react to the key combination "Ctrl" and "+"/"-")
Negative Points (just nitpicking) :

    • there was just one female supporting character who had thoughts that didn't make sense at all
      Spoiler

At one point she thought that ML is so good looking, smart and great, then she suddenly thinks ML is not good enough for FL, then she thinks that FL doesn't appreciate ML's care, then she thinks: how dare ML have feelings for FL, then she thinks ML is so smart and great and she wants to have his care. And this contradicting thinking goes on and on (
      )

      [collapse]
. But then again humans can have confusing thoughts.
Overall I can only recommend this novel to all, especially to those that like a smart and "introverted" ML and a mature, smart relatable FL. Give it a try! <<less

So far I am really enjoying this story! Apparently I have a lot of feelings to write about it!

I hesitated to start reading this novel because I thought the summary was making certain implications about the MC's character that I wasn't sure I'd enjoy. But now I feel the summary was slightly misleading ... more>>
Spoiler

where it says "Qiao Lan nodded because Tan Mo only stayed alive for another two years." I don't feel like that is Qiao Lan's motivation at all?? Like wow summary, way to make it sound like MC is kind to the ML because it is such a short time commitment...

[collapse]

On top of that, I was also worried about how the story was going to portray autism. Especially since it is a source of conflict for a lot of the story. But! I feel the story deals with its heavier themes like depression and sexism well enough while still striking a fairly lighthearted tone. I am not a qualified sensitivity reader for its portrayal of disability. I'll just say the story has definite themes of acceptance.

I like MC for a few different reasons. She is even-tempered, kind, and confident. She is good to those who are good to her, and she cuts off and creates good boundaries with those who suck. I enjoy reading her interactions with the ML because while she is persistent, she is willing to meet him where he is at and frankly that is refreshing. They also clearly just want to give each other the best and it is very sweet.
Spoiler

I think the mental age difference between the two (gotta love those transmigration tropes) is like 3 or 4 years, and her actions aren't fueled by an insta-love, which is nice. (Slow burn!) She admits he was basically the only character she liked in the novel, but her initial feelings towards him as a person just read as a really supportive mom friend, haha. I am sure the romantic feelings will develop later.

[collapse]

I am interested to see where things go with the ML's character growth.
Spoiler

Where I am at in the story, his dependence and possessiveness of the MC is definitely growing, which makes sense since the people he can trust and rely on are so few... but it is still sad and worrisome.

[collapse]

A lot of the conflicts for the MC are external and for the ML they are internal. Everything seems plausible except for that magical transmigration ;) <<less

Oh my gawd, what to say? This is one of the fluffiest fluff that I've ever read. And by that, I don't mean excessive doting the likes. It's a perfect balance of bitter and sweet, yet filled with pure, wholesome interactions that give me this warm and fuzzy feelings, much like being buried alive in layers of warm blankets on a chilly winter day while sipping on a hot chocolate.

We have an amazing ML with a great character development, and honestly, the MC-ML interactions and love is too pure for... more>> this world and I simply want to protecc both of them!! This is definitely a feel-good novel, with excellent storyline that could make you squeal out of pure cuteness from ML's angsty pure love for the MC and the MC's incredibly considerate attention towards the ML. Okay, there is some angst in it. BUT it's not that kind of heartbreaking, tear-inducing angst that makes you wailed for days. Fight me, but this is a FLUFFY angst! Pining in fluffs totally exist!! And this angst is hella cute!! Okay it might not be cute for the ML but it's still super cute and I bet that you'll agree with me once you read this!!!

Hihi such a lovely story!! This is what you called character development, which is rarely shown in other story. Or.. it's just me? Hahaha idk...

For several chapters, I think up till chapter 10, I get bored when I read that. I don't know why, maybe it just didn't suit my taste or maybe there is not many interaction between Qian Lan and Tan Mo. But I keep reading till the end (i currently at chapter 48), because I want to know the scene in the prologue. Aand.... I definitely don't... more>> regret my decision. Hoorayy!!!!

I just love their interaction!!! Everytime Tan Mo smile, I smile too!! Ahahhaha I think I'm going crazy because of this. It feels like watching my child grow, I don't even have a child.... silly me😁😁 And together with Tan Mo, I too, feeling proud when

. That was the best feeling ever.

When I read this story, I can't help but being reminded of the other story, My Husband with Scholar Syndrome, I think this is the title, correct me if I wrong. I don't know if the syndrome is the same. And another story with AS in the wattpad, Quirky Tale of April. Such a bunch of beautiful and warm stories!! I just want to mention it, ahahahaa.

And last but not least, I want to say Thank you very much to the Translator-nim because the story is well written and easy to understand, even for me (english is not my first language).

Hihi I send a bunch of love to you, who read my long review, from home ahaha stay healthy!! <<less

I loved the story. I really wanted to go in the story and give the ML a big hug.

The MC was good at communicating in the relationship and I admire that a lot.

Nobody could get in between their relationship. All the misunderstandings were quickly solved too because of the MC's great communication. Definitely give this story a try!!

Like like like.

I like authors who promotes mental illnesses so much.

There's nothing to say. I live this novel so much. Our MC, is reallnone of a kind.

... more>> If MC is one of those who was having a second thoughts then this novel will be having a big fat "tragic" hanging very bright.

That's why I really like this novel. There is no misunderstanding. It's all psychological journey and how to be better.

People often asked what's abnormal and what is normal. But actually, everyone have their own abnormality. And these abnormalities is dictated not by you, or anyone but by everyone.

People who deviates within the norm was tagged to be abnormal. Those who disobey the law is abnormal.

It's all controlled by conformity. That's why our ml, in order to become normal have to learn how to study and read emotions of others.

That's the thing. As long as people see you act the same as everyone you are normal.

That is normal. That's conformity.

This novel doesn't only explain that not all people who doesn't conform within the laws of social norms is abnormal. But it also says and actually shout with a proud voice that people with mental illness is just the same as everyone elses'.

Actually as long as the person wouldn't become a danger to anybody and of course to oneself. And they could function normally. Or, should I say, they could do basically what people should do in daily basis. They are stated to be in range or normality.

Our ML at first, though he was already diagnosed. He was not required to have any psychological therapy or he was not even drinking any medication. However, that only lasted until his mother died.

Though, the author didn't describe ml's past after his mother died in detailed. You can guess his life when MC, met him for the first time.

Tan mo, or ML is standing in a very dangerous clip and could fall any time. If not for our MC, his ending won't be different in what was stated on the novel our MC read.

That's why, I really like this novel. I don't know about those patriarchal family, but the status of mental illness in our age is very delicate.

Even in our country. People is very prejudice about it. Just mentioning any word from it, it will led to any negative wordings. Though, people is. Slowky accepting these topic, and even promoting it. Our professionals still doesn't have any way to cure mental illnesses.

There is no cure. But there is prevention and intervention.

But the thing is, instead of preventing it. Our society even makes it works.

People only knew little about mental illnesses. Of course it because it's within the brain.

Brain is very complex. Professionals actually knows more about space than our own brain.

Hahaha, it's like saying scientist knew more about space than our own ocean.

Well, anyways.

Love love love this novel to the max!!! ヾ (*'O'*) /

Edit: I went back cause I saw the title. Who's the villain again?

I though our ML is the second main lead that help the female lead and the male lead of the novel.

So, who's the villain? <<less

MTL completed, readability 90%.

Reading the ML made me think whether other novel ML also had mental illness, considering some of them were overly psychotic, even more than Tan Mo.

***

Different from other transmigration novel, this one completely severed itself from the original novel.

The relation between the novel life and MC current life was abysmal, MC completely ignore the novel and entirely focus on her life and the person she cared most.

Everything else was ignored, the original family, the original hero+heroine, the original plotline.

She live for herself, that was a good life.

Pace is just right. The ML is your basic domineering/possessive boss BUT WITH A TWIST. HE ACTUALLY HAS CHARACTER!! Lots of novel surrounds what the ML is thinking and how the FL deals with his thought process and mental illness. Might be annoying to some people, but imo, this adds depth to the character interactions (and often the interactions are mad cute). Overall, would recommend. The MTL is not that bad compared to other novels.

I don't know enough about mental illnesses to comment on how well it has been portrayed in this novel.

However it is a good read and like with all HE novels, not a lot of heartache and went through the best case scenario. The high school "villains" were a bit one-dimensional but could also be because they're highschoolers lol. But I personally enjoyed the characters in the university arc better.

4/5 overall - lots of fluff! I like how even if they were both a bit OP, they still felt "real" in... more>> a sense. You can imagine real people would make the same decisions that they both did in the novel - which made it more relatable and such an enjoyable read. <<less

Amazing! Love it!

As the other readers said in their reviews; it is a lot mentioned, that the ML has Autism.
But I had no problem skipping this parts, so even with that, its one of the best books I read so far at the whole novelupdate - website.

Highly recommended!!

Currently there's only 17 chapters translated yet they were good enough (kudos to the translator also) and well written that it made me actually bear through MTL.

And to my surprise the story still shined, though there is still some gibberish here and there (I'll say it's better than other cnovels that have lots of internet slangs, cultivation terms etc), so much that I finished reading it in 2 days.

Slightly spoilerish review ahead so maybe don't read if you mind that.

Spoiler

The ML has Asperger Syndrome and the MC comes from a really rough home situation. What I appreciated about this novel is that they both support the other. Unlike other novels where the relationship is unbalanced they both help each other through their own particular issues and woes. Well in spirit it's a really cute story of coming into yourself. The drama is not that big and there's no big misunderstandings between the two. Read it if you want something fluffy, healing and cute.

3.5 stars.

I was not expecting the sweetness this book had to offer.

PROS

  • Start to finish, it described the challenges a person with Asperger's syndrome may face. Even though ML "recovered", the author still explored how society forces others to conform to their ideas or normality.
  • The reciprocal love and support between MC and ml
CONS

  • I really disliked how author romanticed an overly dependent couple that isolates themselves. It's not cute in real life & I'm glad author still showed how toxic it can get and the consequences of such behaviour.
  • The author still fell into the pit of normalising a disabled person. I lowkey wish the story remained about the struggles of a physically and mentally challenged person. Or we explored more about his struggles with rehab with 2% success instead of just wrapping it up in months. Or ML consistently visiting a psychologist because love is not a cure all and he still needed one.
  • A little detail but how was ML sensitive to touch but could shop randomly for clothes? Wouldn't be need customised clothing?
  • Finally, I sincerely with we delved deeper into the supporting characters. Who was ml's stepmum & those family dynamics? Final ending for FL's family. How could author tease us with a gay character then just drop it?
