Well, I guess the title and description of the novel say it all. MC transmigrated into the book as a villainous cannon fodder who has a tragic end in the book. To avoid a horrible future, he decided to hug the protagonist's thigh. In his mind, everything went well, and he became a reliable and caring older disciple for ML, but because of his kindness and indulgence, ML, who was abandoned and never received human warmth before, fell in love with him.
The story itself isn't bad; it's just that the author hops from one problem to another really fast. You have a feeling that this problem is huge and the big boss will make his appearance, but everything is resolved quickly. They built tension, but you never received a big villain who would trouble MC and ML. The biggest troublemaker is MC, who manages to end up locked up in different dimensions and drives ML crazy. Sometimes the author doesn't tell the story to the end, which is a bit irritating.
Spoiler

(For example, what happened to Fu Lanxue, what about Shizuns and Shen Nians past, and what about Fu Chongyi and his hand. The author starts telling the story but emits details and never finishes it.

[collapse]
Despite this, I still liked the story because of the characters and their interactions. Characters are well-rounded, their actions make sense, and they are cute. The MC and ML relationship at first seems superficial, mostly because MC can't figure out his feelings and he is sure that he is straight, but at the end, they both fell in love with each other, and the relationship is cute and sweet. ML is a bit manipulative, but MC isn't that naive and can see through his act, but he loves him too much and spoils him.

At first, MC seemed a bit silly; he allowed ML and his brother to make decisions for him. It looked like he was just going with the flow, and he has no backbone. But then, when I learned about his real life and family condition, it made sense. MC is a bit clueless in my mind, but because the novel has a comedic undertone, his silly actions are amusing and cute. ML is a bit paranoid and cruel, but all this can be blamed on his parents, Shizun, and the main culprit would be, of course, MC; he misjudges ML's feelings. I loved both MC and ML, as well as the side characters.
This novel resembles a bit of The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, but they are completely different from each other. This one is more comedic, and character traits are a bit exaggerated to make it more fun. This story is light reading and fun to read. The story is interesting; it has flaws but is still enjoyable to read.

The novel started out okay but way way too similar to svsss, except MC is dashixiong instead of shizun.

Characters have no depth. MC at first is relatable then he’s just dumb and there’s zero growth or change despite 3 years then 10 years.

Plot is barely there to get the story going.

... more>> ML change of attitude is super sudden, going from hatred to sticky adoration in 1 incident, literally overnight (;⌣̀_⌣́)

MC is not only too dense but also seems to be manipulated?? It’s very annoying when MC literally sees and hears ML confess and still in denial ( ̄ ̄|||)

Every other character is 2D.

Svsss has plot and character growth and romance and there are backstories and interesting side characters.

The novel lacks all of it, trying to imitate a poor resemblance of svsss.

I dropped it. Waste of time. It had potential (>m<) <<less

3.5/5

What I remembered most:

    • I originally dropped this at chapter 64 then picked it up again from the beginning; the main couple gets together pretty quickly (though chapters are indeed short) and I need more of a slow burn action to keep my interest
    • the focus was split pretty evenly between the relationship between MC and ML, and MC and his brother
    • so sorry to Chu Sheng lovers out there, he's a nice and tragic guy but I could not give a **** and would have traded him for 20 more chapters focusing on Chu Yu and Xie Xi's relationship
    • people have called this a Scum Villain knock-off but I don't totally agree. I liked this story a lot but Scum Villain developed characters more deeply and readers can tell that Luo Binghe is living with a lot of self hatred and insecurity and struggling to be his authentic self while still being strong enough for his love; meanwhile, Xie Xi's character development doesn't get much deeper than "he's powerful but very sticky and possessive towards his love. He's insecure but shows it in 1 way: to pout and coerce MC into papapa"
    • great ideas that Scum Villain fleshed out were dropped quickly here: the big bad demon villain was gone within 2 chapters, Chu Yu never fully had to understand the emotional impact his disappearances had on his loved ones because the impact wasn't much more than being extra sticky, and issues with cultivation or injuries were either treated relatively lightly (telling rather than showing us that the issue was supposedly bad) and were solved in a handful of chapters
    • heck, the big
      Spoiler

      soul resurrecting

      [collapse]
plot item was solved in an EXTRA. IN OFFHANDED DIALOGUE.
    • story was very funny, I laughed out loud many times and I really do like the characters of Chu Yu and Xie Xi because I sincerely don't think this story was trying to be Scum Villain
Why I liked this:

    • love shidi x shixiong <3 and LOVE yandere shidi x dense shixiong ( `

      )
    • story is VERY COMEDIC, especially at the beginning
    • fast-paced relationship and fast-paced action (pros and cons to both)
    • honestly, I love an oblivious MC. I love them so much. Shen Qingqiu and Chu Yu are epitomes of the "ML falls in love first" tag and I love it, I will never tire of MC being dense around his demon lord bf
    • characterization was kind of weak but I like transmigration xianxia stories enough that I came back and finished this

The novel is okay. It has cute romantic scene with MC & ML and good relationship, but the main plot of story confuse me. Like I know the novel is about MC and ML love story but like I'm confused genuinely about what is actually happening in the storyline. Like I don't think the author had a good main plot of the storyline for MC & ml. Sure I love the interaction of Chu Fu and Xie Xi but the structure of the plot just throws me off. This novel... more>> isn't bad I just feel it could have better main plot of the storyline with the romantic relationship with Chun Fu and Xie Xi. I don't like how one event end with another new event coming. Like in my mind the pacing was too fast. I also feel like the author didn't really know what to do with the structure of the main plot and so decided to just end with a cute, simple, romantic scenes with Chu Fu and Xie Xi if there weren't the extras to explain what happened in the main plot a bit. Tbh I didn't really expected the novel ending like that. I expected that all the troubles from the Chu family and Xie Xi saving his parents would resolved at the end of the novel but it didn't. The storyline is not that good but I like the characters. Beside that I enjoy it with some laughter and sadness reading. <<less

It turned out pretty good!?

1) The writing was a bit plain and the character's and author's priorities seemed a little askance throughout the novel..... It kinda felt like all the big things were happening just in the background of romance and papapa... It felt a bit dry (.__.)

2. The novel is short, but there are lots of plot stuffed in it. Big things happen, get solved quickly, plenty of "immortal realm, secret ancient cultivation technique, powerful ancestor's secret, demon lord revival, extinct spirit plants" etc etc dues ex machina.

3.... more>> One main CP, 3 side couples, all happy endings, full chicken soup for the soul

4. Basically an ok novel to read casually if you're too busy to be stuck to your phone and too tired to read complicated engaging mystery or horror plots.....

5. Overrused cliches <<less

Similar to svsss but less infuriating.

The MC and ML get together during the novel so it's nice to see the young disciple pining after, to eventually catching his shixiong. We get to read the relationship development and how they are when actually together.

I do enjoy this story, and have read it a few times, but I have to rate it a 3 purely because of plotholes.

If you don't mind reading a good and fun novel that ends with you questioning potholes, then you'll love this. But if you hate ending... more>> a story and wondering what happened in the parts mentioned then never brought up again, you might want to give it a miss. Although, I do still recommend reading it. <<less

I don't know why this novel isn't rated higher because it's great, full five stars!

Maybe it's an expectations vs reality thing, because the novel really plays it fast and loose with the martial arts genre. But I think that makes it even better - I usuallyskip over martial arts/xianxia tagged novels because they're so redundant and stiff, what with the cultivation ranks and demonic vs righteous sect stuff, it's all very cookie cutter and rely heavily on the character interactions.... but that also falls through when everyone seems to be... more>> stoic and cold, seeing as they don't need to eat and can cultivate for hundreds of years on end... while I don't necessarily hate the genre, there's a huge disconnect as I have a hard time imagining that.

This novel though, disregards all of the basics of cultivation and instead just does whatever is funnier, cuter, or steamier. Because it's mainly a comedy, I don't find that these 'plot holes' ruin the story, instead they work to help land the jokes. However, don't mistake this novel as 'turn your brain off' enjoyment. The plot is more character focused but coherent, and many points introduced at the start get resolved in a 'oh so thats how it is' way. Not to mention, I found the individual characters to be deeper interpretations of the usual BL tropes.

Such as
Spoiler

Chu Shen, the nominal bro-con, isn't secretly in love with Chu Yu, but holds a severe trauma regarding his other younger brother who was killed horribly right in front of him. This led him to excessively spoil Chu Yu, because he doesn't want his last younger brother to suffer or die in vain like that ever again.

[collapse]

Or,
Spoiler

how the ML Xie Xi is very explicitly expressed as the MC of a stallion novel, where he's originally meant to have a whole crowd of beautiful women in his wife harem. Thus, while it is excessive, his overpowered s*x drive isn't totally out of left field. Of course Chu Yu can't keep up with it, he's become the single husband instead of the female lead (one of them).

[collapse]

This novel was engaging, had well written and well rounded side characters, was incredibly funny, s*xy, and heartwrending when it needed to be. 10/10 recommend! <<less

I’d say it’s a 4.3 at the most maybe but I can’t do that so I gave it a 5.

I really like the romance between the side characters and how they each got their own story told in the extras.

The MC acts just like you and I would and the ML is doting and clingy.

Its the classic shidi falls in love with shixiong story but I like how the author executed it. It’s similar to Scul Villain’s Self Saving System so if you like this I would definitely recommend that.... more>> Thanks for reading! <<less

Really enjoyed this.

This is very similar to Scum Villain so I think if you enjoyed that you will enjoy this.

I really love how the author rounded off all the characters with their own backstories. The extras are so interesting and it’s very satisfying to know what how everyone ends up.

Love the translation and the footnotes that explains each idiom and the different characters etc.

I like the story. I feel like its a light reading. I finished reading in just 2days. The plot is not too complicated, they are in war but MC is not like some kinda hero that he needed to do everything. At times I feel like hes kinda useless. He was quite strong but the apart from stating about his quite high level cultivation, he didnt do much fighting, hes more like an extra/observer and that he's role is to interact with the ML only..

I dont dislike the MC, at... more>> least he's not some girly, damsel in distress shou, but he just doesnt do much.

The ML is very clingy, crybaby at times too. He wasnt overbearing, he has temper but never to MC. He gone insane sometimes due to trauma when MC left him, but he still treats MC preciously? (i think theres no r*pe, he mostly just begged and acted cute and teary until MC lets him do what he wants)

The system in this novel is kinda tr*sh and useless? It doesnt do anything useful except gvg the MC that resurrection skill info but MC still need to search for more details himself. Not hating the system but maybe its better not to have it at all

The gong in this novels are all good imo. Not too overbearing. I esp like Fu Chongyi.

The one thing I dislike is how everone around MC turned gay. I know im reading BL, but I feel like some straight ppl around MC could be a good. The fact that...

even third shidi got his boyfriend feels unnecessary.

Anyway, 4/5 because this novel doesnt have shitty characters. The story is also not that long where ud feel bored. I didnt skip any chapters and the ending is satisfactory <<less

The main couple is cute. I thought the story was genuinely good too, but the couple is definitely not the main focus of the story. The ML literally disappears from the story for a good few chapters while our MC deals with the plot. On the Chinese side of the internet this story gets bashed a bit for the writing but I really don't think it's that bad. Overall I enjoyed this book, the first dozen or so chapters with the white lotus ML and doting shixiong MC is really... more>> cute. <<less

I really loved this story, it was surprisingly well made and the characters grow along with the story. The protag essentially is transmigrated to “fix” the story and he does a heck of a job!

What I liked most is that the loose ends were tied up at the end, I had a lot of questions and the extra chapters answered almost all of them. Things like, “Why was the original MC so horrible in the original story?” “Why did these characters act this way?” “Did the ML really fall in... more>> love that easily?” “But what about this character, what happened to them?” all of these questions become crystal clear after reading the entire story along with the extras.

The MC isn’t the most reliable narrator until further along when he really gets the sense that he’s not just in a storybook, he’s living in a real world with real people around him. The character development really improves and I could see these characters turn from “cannon fodder” into real people.

The “new plot” that MC creates is confusing at first because the “original story” that was supposed to happen ended up going so off track that everything that’s happens seems random, but it’s not random at all, I could tell the author put a heck of a lot of work into making things fit together like a picture puzzle. It felt like I was also discovering the details of the original story, or basically the real world’s history, along with the MC as he tries to figure out what’s going on since the novel he read differs so greatly from what he experiences.

The novel had a lot of funny and cute moments and later had so many tragic moments that I was crying my eyes out. There are many heartbreaking scenes but it’s definitely a HE otherwise I would have been real mad at the author because those scenes hit hard! I feel that going on a journey with the MC was like riding a roller coaster, the plot is always on the move and it was a very fun read. I would have to rank this somewhere around top 10 on my list of favorite novels, I would love to have it on my bookshelf. <<less

If you enjoyed SVSSS, you are bound to like this one.

Despite the countless cliches and plot holes here and there, I absolutely ADORED this. It is the perfect quick read for an impatient reader like me, who can't stand slow burn. There are no angsty scenes (except at the end) and most of it's fluff and just cute flirty moments. It's a funny, light- hearted novel, with a happy ending. Loved it and totally recommend it to those who haven't already.

Uke protagonist, mild yandere seme, transmigration, cultivation, action/ adventure, good plot 4.5/5, smut 3/5, romance 5/5, dubcon and full consent, low angst, detailed explanations and settings, little to no plot holes, definitely recommend to those who like fluff with a bit of angst and slight heart ache.

personal enjoyment and overall: 4

this was...a trip.

i didn't expect to actually like this. I initially read a few chapters due to some criticisms here, but I thoroughly enjoyed it the more I got to the later chapters. although there are very valid criticisms, like xie xi's actions that ranges from dubious consent to non-consenting, and how xie xi and chu yu's relationship has a toxic air to it, I still did enjoy it.

there is a strange depth to the story. the characters and situations are very interesting and nail-bitingly tense... more>> at times. there are actual consequences and dread looming, and I find that the sacrifices the characters make are tragic yet necessary.

as of chapter 85, with only 3 extra chapters left, the

though it will never be justified, the actions of the characters were at least understandable, even in xie xi's case. he's the standard 'without the protagonist, I can't live on' yandere trope, it does make sense.
