Personally not my thing. The beginning was very strong. I liked how the MC didn't immediately get all her memories back when she was a kid, which is something I personally dislike because it just has weird undertones if the ML is a kid. As soon as I delved into the story, the characters, plot and pacing had me completely s**ked in (*cough* leading to a full 9 to 10 hours of binge read >_>)

Everything was so hella dramatic and unexpected, so if you're the type who can't stand this sort of thing, you may not like this novel as much.. WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE EXTRAS. Their life moments and fluff would have been nice but now that the FL is in that world what would happen to our boy in the other world where he went to jail. It would have been better if the ML had been reborn in this world pei chuan and would have made more sense imo

Other than that I quite liked it. There was angst, romance a lil bit of comedy fluff and just wholesome at points. The author did a good job. And the translator is doing an amazing job. The ML parents were utter shits. Ughh I hate both of them so much. All they cared about was how the ML disability was affecting them and not how their child was doing. Yes it was a shitty situation and I pray nobody goes through that but that was awful. My cousin died because his father swwrved the car when trying to not hit a stray dog and he still blames himself everyday that he killed his son. Irrelevant ik but what the parents did was shit. All they cared about was themselves and then their spouse/child. I think the mom had depression and thats what the 2nd husband used to justify her leaving him but that is no excuse to leave your son and then never talk to him ever again untill you are forced by an enemy. <<less

Similar to stories following the trend of the FL reforming the ML except that the ML avoids the FL for the majority of the beginning of the novel. Personally, I loved how the character development of the ML was written. It was gradual and pretty realistic because people don't change overnight--it's a process. The FL complements the ML really well, and the payoff at the end was well worth my time.

First off... I'm IN LOVE & OBSESSED with this novel! It's a gem and I really hope the ML will grow to know that his disability does not define who he is and for him to realise that he deserves to be loved.

I love this novel so much. Its definitely not a waste of time, and it's one of my favorites, currently. I have really high expectations for the coming chapters, I hope I don't get disappointed. Its a really touching and emotional but cherrful novel. The ML is so pitiful.... he has a really low self-esteem and inferiority complex. The FL is so likeable. The novel is very realistic even with the reborn aspect. Overall its a good read, really good. I hope the ML gets a happy ending. 🤍🤍🤍

I love this trope, please read other reviews for more critical feedback and commentary. I don't remember the specifics of this story since it's been a while, but I remember that the relationship between the two from young to old made me so teary at times. The inferiority complex of the ML is as large as Mt. Everest and it made the FL's kindness and patience all the more sweet.

This story was such a rollercoaster: to be mean to the girl you like, to draw lines in their childhood, to hold noble aspirations to give her the most innocent and unselfish love in their youth, and later to set his mind to trap her in marriage not letting her go. I would have dropped this novel a long time ago, if the ML and FL didn't fit each other so well: a concession from each other was made right away and in a timely manner. I found some comments on how Pei Chuan was too much of a douchebag, but I personally think he was totally justified. He just went through so much pain time and time again. It was key that Bei Yao was reborn, it prevented Pei Chuan from alienating himself from her and also she stopped her from being fooled by other males like Huo Xu. (I think it was ridiculous how he set insisted on pursuing Bei Yao and not some other beauty just to hide her lover... But other than that, the plot went right on track.)

I didn't indulge in the extras and just skipped them through, but all in all this novel is not for the fainthearted. There's a lot of tragedy in the growth of Pei Chuan's life, and tears are unavoidable. Thanks to the rebirth of Bei Yao, we always have this angel to save the day. Go ahead and read it! <<less

But I find the POV too messed up. The FL is more like the NPC/side character. She hardly gets a POV. And everytime it's I already did my best to protect him. The side characters gets more line than her. I think this far, the ML had more lines than her.

I don't usually write my thoughts after finishing stories, but because this novel got me hooked from the start to the end, I decided to logged in to my account.

The novel is so good. It's very rare to find well-thought novels these days. Although Devil's Warmth is not the best of the bests, the emotions of the main characters are still well-conveyed which I very much liked. Kudos to the translator-nim as well.

But whether he's competent or not, as long as his heart is sincere, the FL would still love him because the FL has awesome personality -that whoever guy she ends up fall in love with is blessed.

I've ignored this novel so many times before because of the synopsis. It didn't grab my attention and since I was looking for something to read, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did.

This is not a shallow-type novel. It's a worth-read type for me. It got me emotional, inspired, and also got me worried because at some point his life has become dark and he chose to live in it.

The ML has a deep inferiority complex and this causes him to build an impenetrable wall but his well-built wall is no match to FL's deep love and pure sincerity.

The progression of the story is kinda slow on the first half, but I think it's good because it gives the reader a chance to take a look --not just a quick peek-- on the lives of the main characters from when they were so young and as they gradually grow older. It's nice that the author didn't just write a few chapters of their younger years and then suddenly jumped up to when they're already young adults. And so, I didn't feel deprived.

There are many characters that I like in this story even though they don't come out so often as the story progresses. Two of those are the nth time entrance exam repeater friend of the ML and the mother of the FL. These two give weights and colors to the story.

Others may have hated the FL's mother but she's just thinking of her precious daughter's welfare. She's not a perfect mother but she's far better than all the mothers in the story.

Although, I don't like transmigiration/reincarnation genre that much because it gives the character a low-key supernatural power although they are not in a magical/fantasy world. But at least on this one, the FL has no clear- as-water memories of her past. It's like she just got some hints from the bits and pieces she remembered and she wrote it down the paper when she was young. And that's it.

(And it's hard to find novels that still clings to morality these days.)

In conclusion, this is a GOOD novel.

It’s an ok read, the novel keep me interested enough to finish the novel plus the extra, but I didn’t feel connected with the characters. It just feels like a story being told with but no character depth. It’s probably bc I don’t like Mary sue novel, but this is definitely a Mary sue novel. She’s the hottest and beautiful, all the hot guys likes her.
Honestly the relationship build up wasn’t that strong bc he was cold to her but randomly talk to her. And she just continues to stick to him. Probably because I read so many other great novels such as “My Mister Ostrich” that my expectations are high for similar novel.

After reading some of the reviews, I wasn't sure whether to read this. But I am glad I gave it a read and finished it in 24 hrs. It was a good read and one of the most emotional ones I have read.

Unlike some of the reviews, I liked reading Pei Chuan's and Bai Yao's growth, their emotions and their shortcomings.

Pei Chuan wasn't perfect, his actions were twisted sometimes but it was a result of what he has experienced from young age. He walked the wrong path but he corrected... more>> it. Some might be frustrated with his inferiority complex but it was justified. I am glad how he let go of his past slowly tried to embrace his feelings.

He just needed a bit of warmth from the world and for the people around him to treat him as Pei Chuan rather than just a cold boy with disability.

Also, I liked how young Bei Yao thought of him as a little hero who sacrificed his calves for the people.

His love was painful and he tried to stay away from it but he realised there was someone beside him through all the years and he wasn't alone.

Bei Yao was someone people could misunderstand that she didn't really stood up for him, but she did. She gets brave as she grows up. I also liked that she wasn't always kind, unnecessarily. It was also a bit realistic how she slowly and gradually grew feelings for him, rather than suddenly, and it only grew deeper with time.

Apart from the main characters I really liked Jia Wei.

And among the parents pei haobin is the ultimate tr*sh. I didn't like wenjuan too, but she was much better than his father.

The story is really well written and I would definitely re-read it in the future. <<less

*Edit : I've halt the reading at some point but will continue to read it again later. So far I understand how this story actually works. I would say that this is the story of the ML that being seen by the FL point of view. Very much everything actually works around the ML instead of FL, but that's fine, it gives me the "orenji" feeling and it's cool. Their relationship is really beautiful and cute, the push and back thing is relatable. The boy had a hell of a road on his journey and FL is his solemn salvation. Even more sad every time he felt unworthy of her he always bring himself deep in the darkness, he is selfish and selfless at the same time, what a poor child. At some point I also understand the author purpose to lock the FL memories, as perhaps the author want the focused of the story to be balanced while the plot can still move just in the right pace.

Also just want to add, many people dislike the ML for his personality but I suggest you to read this story carefully in case you missed it. The author through the FL has numerous time explain it with the scene or through the words, step by step, very throughly. Even the FL fail to understand him quite a lot of time then came to realization to why he does act like that. The author also explain for many side, from many characters, those who fail to understand him, those who don't bother to understand him, and those who finally able to understand him. The author has been very patiently explain and show it again and again but people just don't bother to understand it. At least as a reader who seen it from 3rd pov I felt so sad for those who still judge him so harshly like that.

I only read until chapter 38 and decided to stop reading, because I didn't like the character of FL. Like, she's too kind for a human being, and I think too kind and s*upid just a tiny difference.

And it pissed me off about FL. She is described as an innocent, pure, kind girl which makes me a little sick. And I can't understand her logic (perhaps because I'm not... more>> a kind and pure person so our logic is not the same). I tried to endure reading because I saw the rating was 4.5 so I thought that I should be patient to get the essence of that rating. But sorry, I can't. There are various ways to be kind, but the kindness that FL does makes her look s*upid.

This is such a heartwarming novel... there were many complications but I'm glad that leads got their own happy ending.

I really like the character of FL (Bei Yao) , she was decisive and got lovable attitude w/o being annoying pushover. I also like that her past memories were different from other novels and mentality was still based on her age and she gave support ML (Pei Chuan) but didn't tightly hold him (didn't train him like her dog that needed to follow her plan unlike other rebirthed/transmigrated heroines) thus letting him embraced his own insecurities and see results of his choices. Furthermore, leads were able to choose their own path and freedom to experience life not only boxed on rebirth memories.
