I’ve reincarnated as the reverse harem game’s villainess, the one and only adopted daughter of the ducal Eckart family.

But the difficulty just has to be the worst!

Everything I do will only lead me to death.

I must be paired with one of the main male characters from the heroine’s harem before the ‘real daughter’ of the duke family appears!

Two older brothers who always pick a fight with me on every little thing.

The insane crown prince whose route will always lead to my death.

‘I only see the heroine and no one else’s wizard, and also her loyal s*ave knight, too!

‘First, let’s take some of them which I see no hope in, out of the list!’

“I didn’t know my place up until now. From now on, I’ll live as quiet as a mouse so you wouldn’t care the slightest bit!

But why do their interests in me keep on rising every time I draw the line?!

This novel is absolutely splendid. If you like angst, a strong, and badarse MC, and a kind of cliche romance novel then this is for you.

Honestly I LOVE the fact that our MC is kinda ruthless but still has a heart, and I'm the type who really loves stories where people get guilty whenever the MC who used to be mean is now a good person. (kind of)

Anyways, so a little thought for the ml

Spoiler

bro vinter was my fav but penelope ended up rejecting him, and she ended up with the crown prince, which isn't that bad, but it did kinda disappoint me a lil bit..

[collapse]

Now for the abuse and backstories of penny and the person who reincarnated into her body

Spoiler

so after finding out the misunderstanding between the duke and penny, I kinda forgave the duke. However, as for the dad, and brothers of korean MC, NO. LIKE WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU PURPOSELY MAKE UR SIS EAT DISGUSTING STUFF SO THAT SHE COULD EAT WITH YOU? How does that makes sense??? Also, I will never in my ever life ever will forgive derrick. He had the chance to redeem himself but he still stood with that witch sister of his who ended up stabbing him (lol u deserved it) and as for renald, he kinda started being good as the novel progresses.

[collapse]

And finally, thoughts for the ending!

Spoiler

okay so the ending... seems rushed and not so good. Penny ended up leaving the dukedom, and being the crown princess, she also apologized to the duke for 'killing' his real daughter. (She had to bc Yvonne was possessed by Leia) and she was forgiven but thats it...

[collapse]

And bonus! My fav part of this novel!

Spoiler

when it was penny's coming of age ceremony, the duke greeted her in the morning and ended up confessing everything, including how if he knew that penny wouldn't call him father for the next 6 years, he wouldn't have ignored her that day, and that renald told him that the necklace incident wasnt Penelope's fault. And so penny ended up crying a bit because I think all this time she just wanted an apology for everything that was happening to her that she couldn't control, and this made me cry as well. And then during her ceremony, Derrick took yvonne altho he wasnt supposed to and then yvonne planned to poison herself so they'd suspect penny, but penny saw right through that and drank the poison since she wanted to die anyway. Truly sad. Haha I wont tell u the rest, u go read it! (Chap 167) :

[collapse]

Okay thats it! I'd say this novel is the best one I've read so far~ <<less

Honestly I stopped reading this novel (fortunately) a little while ago because it was updating too slowly and decided to pick it up again because of the manhua. However the comments made me realise this is just another one of those s*upid “pitiful mistreated and misunderstood villainess’’ tropes where the protagonist just ends up forgiving the people that treated her like absolute tr*sh. All this talk from the MC about it being “too late” was such bs.
Honestly, from the many MANY relatable comments that justly criticises the cliche plot and the ridiculous outcomes of what happens to the characters, I am so grateful that I read the reviews, otherwise I would have gone ahead and read this and wasted my time on what I thought would be a good story. Stories like these that end up wasting my time after having thought that it would be “different from the other ones” and hoping that things would surely turn out better than those shitty stories with the whole “forgiving and being the bigger person” theme.
Forgiveness in this case was pointless, all this character development from the MC was thrown all down the drain. What was the point of her miserable past life? The treatment that she suffered at the hands of those she called ‘family’? Because of a trivial and extremely s*upid misunderstanding? This is just plain tr*sh writing to me.

It had it’s really good points, but the negatives outweigh the positives drastically. How disappointing.

this is such an enjoyable read. I like how the FL does not care about actually having good impressions on the MLs but only does so that she wont be killed. ıT is so satisfying to see her taking revenge from them for all the unreasonable mistreatments the villianess Penelope received.
the only negativity is that the translations does not make any sense, they are like mtls. And my brain hurts trying to read them. I have been reading its manga version though, it is fantastic in both translation and visualizations. I am waiting for its second season to start now. Can't wait !

Probably the best of its genre (reincarnated to otome games). Story is well developed, good pace, good plot, some action/suspense toward the end.

Good characterization. You can see where they are coming from. Great Male Leads (except one). My favorite is Vinter since he is the more complicated one and genuinely a good person. Callisto is perfect nonetheless. Eclise is pitiful. Derrick... ehmmm. Strong female lead. I can see Penelope as someone I would respect, her tenacity to survive is admirable, although I don't like her personality and disagree with some... more>> of her ways... especially her treatments toward Eclise. It's a little bizarre how someone from 21st century is perfectly comfortable in Master/s*ave relationship. The many disturbing things she said to Eclise and her lack of remorse are putting me off.

Translations : Confusing. Some chapters have good translations, most of the time it makes you raise an eyebrow.

Overall, it's a series that's worth buying the official release.

—-

P.S.

I don't know if the author has explanation for it, but the meaning of MLs' gauge bar has never been brought up in the story. So here's some noticeable things I found:

Spoiler

Except Callisto, the other MLs have color combination which are mixed of red (color symbol of love).

Vinter: Purple (blue+red). Someone on the forum mentioned purple rose is the symbol of eternal love. Whenever time reset, Vinter will keep loving Penelope. However, because of Leila's curse/brainwashing, he would be suspicious of her. Purple color meaning also fit Vinter's character (noble quality, eccentricity, wisdom, devotion, magical). Their interaction revolved around trust (blue). The mutual distrust in the beginning, learning to trust each other. The theme is a trusting love.

Reynald: Pink (white+red). Pink can be a sign of immaturity and an emotional person, which fit Reynald's character. However, as their relationship improve, he is more sympathetic/kinder to her. Penelope and Reynald's relationship are full of sweetness and innocence (white). The theme is an innocent love/familial love.

Eclise: Dark red (black+red). Black rose, a very dark shade of red, is a symbol of sorrow and obsessive love. As you can see, it's a relationship full of toxicity and obsession. A heavy hopeless love.

Derrick: Orange (yellow+red). Orange, symbolizing determination, endurance and pride, fits Derrick's character pretty well. After the brainwashing, the gauge bar changed into yellow. Yellow (negative) symbolizing jealousy and rejection. Yellow rose used to be a symbol of rejection. Unlike Reynald's familial love, Derrick loves her as an opposite s*x. In the story, he denied/rejected his feeling (covering it by spitful words and bullshit, also letting her be abused by the employees). He's jealous toward other males approaching her and want to keep and control her like the bird in the cage... His is egotistical love full of deception.

Callisto: Bright red (red+red). Straight up copying this from google: Red is the color of extremes. It's the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. Yep, perfectly fit Callisto's personality and his relationship with Penelope.

The novel literally blew me away especially the intertwining destinies of both modern and otome world. In addition, when at first, the expected male lead isnt the male lead >3< lol -- but love all the characters except Penny's family like I didn't have the heart to forgive them; every scene related to it makes me cry like how could they make her suffer like that. Overall, my heart is contented with the story plot and even loved the extras.

So I've been binging this story for a few days (after school) and I have been enjoying it quite a bit. It gives me a different vibe to Miss Not-So Sidekick which is another favourite of mine. I know I'm not that far in yet but I'm getting closer to the last chapter of the English translation. I'm not sure why I like it but I just find it refreshing to me because I tend to read the regular isekai or fantasy story.

Would be great if we could have chapters... more>> 106 and onwards again. <<less

Sometimes Penelope is annoying but the story is AWESOME and the characters unique.....I recommended this story to everyone cuz its very intriguing and doesn't have to much blabla like all the other novels I love the Crown Prince he is cool and I understand why is he so angry and never trust anyone... I don't understand why people are hating the story, ok maybe it have some flaws but the story is very interesting. I just hope Penelopes character became more open

Really loving it, the author is really good in making me really feel MC’s emotions, specially the ones about the abuse she suffered. And her interaction with the first ML really are cute, a bit cliche maybe, but really really cute.

man, I haven't read a good novel like this for a while! The MC is so refreshing and I'm so glad that she doesn't go all googly eyed at the first person who treats her well. I'm glad that even though people are starting to like her she'll keep her walls up because she's been through shit! The story is very intriguing and I'm very curious as to how everything will play out and if she finishes the game will she actually go back to her world or will she... more>> stay... The translations are amazing btw, it's so nice to read and I love the little translator notes at the end, it makes it feel very personal <3 <<less

It's very schadenfreudian. After learning the despair in which both MC's (Penelope and The OG) come from, you can't help but want the people who put her in that place to...I don't know... eat sh*t? ... more>>
Spoiler

The ending was comforting in just the fact that she chose the isekai world over her family, despite their whining over her veggie state, because yeah. They made her suffer for that long and why does she have to go through the whole "fixing" relationships with another family after what she had to go through with the Eckarts? My girl needs a break.

[collapse]

The female lead is pretty cool and stands her ground where you want her to. And while, she does commit mistakes along the way, she acknowledges them and tries to fix them

But she's not perfect, and we don't want perfect, do we? I highly recommend if you love having your feelings ride on a rollercoaster of pain, angst, sadness but also of the occasional fluff and interesting politics that, while don't play the BIGGEST role, still exists and serves as an occasional diversion from all this love kerfuffle you call a reverse-harem.

If people have more recommendations of a strong FL that serves her just desserts to some "love interests", I'd be more than grateful to hear about it! <<less

It's really, really good novel. I was afraid of the quality of translation because some of the reviews but I wants as bát as some of the said. There were some wierd words or sentences, but it didnt make me not to understand the meaning or the context of the message. I have been reading the whole novel for a week and I was really great experience. The store was really good and even most of the main characters were well decrribed. And the store wants as predictable as I... more>> thought. So of you are looking for a "villaines wants to survived in the new world" kind of story it definitely for you.

I sure come back later again to ready it again 😀 <<less

I hate how people in the comments expect a victim to forgive her abusers just coz they started being a bit nice to her. I wouldn't mind if a victim never forgave their abuser even if they begged for forgiveness coz the pain and the trauma they caused wouldn't be erased just coz of their apology. She can even get back at them despite their changed behaviour.

And secondly, the characters are very inconsistent in this story. Their behaviour towards her changes based on the favourability score and bcoz of this... more>> aspect, they hardly feel like real people. And sometimes, how and why that score rises is also questionable. "The characters have depth" yeah what's the use when they can kill her all the same if the favourability drops below zero. That's not what real people who have character do.

And I still don't understand y Penelope started off on a wrong step with vinter. I felt he was a good and respectable guy, tho calculative. She should've used him for her plan.

Expertly written.

Finally we have an unforgiving FL who isn’t selfless and just the most wonderful person in the world. This FL is selfish to a fault, she views the characters as things in a game and concentrates on #1, herself. She focuses on escaping and getting out of the game alive by trying to rush a relationship with whichever ML is willing to give her their heart.

Her past comes up often and really explains her character. She’s lived a tough life and isn’t ok with putting up with others b.s.... more>> Excuses or pity parties.

It seems like the author didn’t leave much out. By the time the extras end everything is explained. <<less

I love the FL, if you like strong women you'll probably like this story. The Best storry I read so far.

This story would be my favorite if the translation wasn't like a big mystery to me. Sometimes I don't understand the whole chapter. I hope I can buy the manhwa when it comes out completly, so I can understand it better. I gave up at chapter 120 for now. Maybe I'll continue reading someday, but it's really exhausting trying to understand.

Have been absolutely obsessed with the storyline as it really has an interesting premise to it, I quite enjoy the whole favourability points and whatnot. So far this has been the only isekai novel I've read that really does follow the whole otome game system (if there was such a game, I am so down to play it too), and I really like the MC character (so far at least). I've only read up to chapter 106 because all the links were taken down so... here's to hoping one day... more>> it will come back. <<less

My first review in a shoujo romance novel and my first disappointment. Either character development aint even given to Penelope or that its actually meant to be like that since its a tragic story then thats it for me.

Ps. Its supposed to be 1star (somehow cant change it)

Before I get into the details, as a warning to those who are about to read this novel, the first part is good but it gets worse...

Spoiler

This story had a ton of potential, from the tragic setting to the different characters and their actions. However, the main character, Penelope, in my opinion, was alright in the beginning. She made smart, informed decisions and bonded with all characters. I feel though, that as she started lamenting in her own sadness and pitiful life, she completely ignored the option of the male leads ACTUALLY coming to like her (which they did), and instead just focused on getting 100% with Eclise and exiting the game (regardless of the rest of the male leads). This ultimately led to her downfall. Most of the male leads were done injustices - that's not to say Penelope didn't get mistreated. Hell, even Callisto was heartbroken by the multiple rejections and confusing behavior of Penelope. Till the end, the main character was trying to get away from Callisto and everyone else.

Overall, this just made Penelope really unlikable towards the end, but enough about her. The plot itself was really good, a game from the perspective of the villainess - refreshing. The author ruins this though by playing into classical cliches of the heroine (Yvonne) secretly being evil and manipulating all MLs. What takes the cake is that Penelope is supposed to magically stop Yvonne with the Ancient Wizards Wand (???) which was never really explained tbh. The whole "magic mirror" "magic wand" "dragon fangs" were really unfitting for the story setting, and were just generally cheesy like a magical girl anime.

[collapse]

Sorry for rambling on, but from the characters to the plot, this novel simply could've been better. <<less

I really don't know if it's just that I'm not that good in English or if it's like this for everyone, but this novel looks like a good novel with a bad translation. Ik I shouldn't be talking but I really can't tell if it's a bad human tl or a decent mtl.

Or like I said, it can be me that is not very literate in English and can't comprehend what's happening : (
