Guan Xi, 26 years old, was suddenly informed that she’s not a biological child.

The real Miss Guan will soon be picked up from a corner of some small town.

In a flash, her world was turned upside down, her parents were going to divide their love, the property would have to be split, and even her current fiance might marry another person.

After pondering overnight, Guan Xi decided to pull herself together and, against her conscience, confess her love to win her fiance’s favour: “Jiang Suizhou, I love you! I love you so much that I can’t live without you!”

Jiang Suizhou, who just came back from a business trip, slightly raised his eyebrows as he saw the flower petals on the floor,”Guan Xi, which limited edition bag did you fancy this time?”

___

The eldest daughter of the Guan family, Guan Xi, has a handsome and wealthy fiance, however, everyone is well aware that Guan Xi and her fiance were just in a ‘speak money not love’ plastic relationship.

Following the return of the real young lady, a lot of people insinuate that Guan Xi will lose everything. Until at a particular auction, everyone witnessed her fiance, Jiang Suizhou, spending lavishly to buy sets of luxury jewellery for Guan Xi.

A friend hurriedly dissuaded him: “Are you insane, Guan Xi is not your fiance anymore.”

He found Jiang Suizhou smiling calmly,”She’s my spoiled fiance, who’s to say I should change.”

While this story has so.e nice moments, it's kind of lacking in overall plot. It's kind of bland but not in the right way for slice of life. There is an interesting twist though.

The MC is Guan Xi, a wealthy girl who discovers she is adopted. We are then treated to her very self-destructive actions... or at least it's would feel that way if it wasn't like punching cotton and undone very quickly. There wasn't much of a personality beyond her being materialistic but nice to her friends. Even the... more>> attempts to make her a strong character fall through.

Spoiler

Such as her threat to the other daughter. She doesnt follow through on it and has done nothing to justify the "strong" personality she supposedly has.

In fact, she cries or reacts with sadness a lot more than being a badass (justified as the story goes on though).

[collapse]

The ML is her long time fiance. The two were paired up by their families since they were children. He genuinely falls for her first but it starts out in a very possessive way before becoming love.

The story starts out pretty good with the typical cliche of adopted versus biological showdown. The MC questions her identity and role with this new change. Including her relationship with the ML. Then the twist hits and the story gets even better.

Spoiler

Turns out her adopted fathet is her biological father. He was in love with her mother but their mutual friend took adavantage of him while he was drunk. That resulted in the other daughter and the womans family forcing him to marry her.

The MC's mother left and only told another friend about the MC. Eventually she passed away and the MC was found be her dad and adopted.

Of course, the dad was a coward and never revealed the truth until the stepmother (and her family) basically made the MC miserable.

[collapse]

After that twist it just drops so fast in plot quality. Our supposedly strong MC becomes a wilted flower. We're treated to her going out to work, trying to break up with the ML and eventually succeeding in everything. The moment the twist happens, the other daughter becomes a virtual non-existence in the story. Same for the step-mother who only shows up one more time.

It just became so bland. <<less

Really enjoyable! At first I thought the FL was someone trying to force a relationship (fake to herself and the ML) to benefit herself because of her situation but it isn't and I really like and enjoyed the female lead! She is smart, beautiful, funny and know her limits. The story actually focus in a relationship that started with mutual benefits between families to getting to know each others and falling in love in the difficult moments (for the FL mostly). There is not too much drama, nice romance,... more>> and good plot at least for me, not over complicated.

A pretty good read, 4 stars.

I'd love to give this story 5 stars, but there was too much left open and unexplored. First up the two kids are both 26 at the start of the story. It's done. Just from a realistic standpoint, the real daughter has lived her life to adulthood and beyond, the fake has established herself in the world. SO the story starts from a problematic place in terms of setting.

The conflict between the two had potential to make the novel but was too short lived and... more>> frankly not particularly believable. It ended far too suddenly an without a satisfying resolution. What the author provides as a mechanism is different but it's too abrupt, while the rest of the conflict is well setup and established.

(*this is a really big spoiler)

Spoiler

The resolution to the conflict is that the MC is actually the daughter of the father and his first love. The mother of the "real" daughter got him drunk, slept with him and forced the marriage. The first love gave birth then died of cancer. When the "real" daughter got snatched the father arranged to adopt in the MC. He never told his family what went on, despite the wife being aware she had stolen the father.

[collapse]

The rest of the novel is mostly wealth p*rn and a CEO romance fantasy. There's a bit of the MC making a career, participating a variety show etc, but they are all glossed over and feel very superficial.

What made the novel work were the characters. The main character is a delightful material girl. She actually makes princess syndrome enjoyable and fun. Hats off to the author to getting into her head and bringing her to life. There are only a few exceptions where she doesn't work unfortunately they are pretty big and related to the flaws in the plot. I just couldn't help but say, no that's not her.

The other really great character is her best friend. She spends most of the story warning the MC about situations from Real Child/Fake Child novels. She was fantastic comedy and very fun to read.

Bottom Line: It's short and for the most part fun. <<less

I think this is very unique bc this has the so called fake daughter and real daughter dynamic without the switching bc the parents adopted the MC. Although you can judge her for her sugar baby tendencies lol, the MC isn't a terrible person and gives a realistic perception on what it would be like to add someone to your family and find out you're adopted.

Bc she was adopted without shady means by her parents, I think a lot of people who have had empathy for those "fake daughters" in... more>> other stories and how cold heartedly some were abandoned (if they didn't do anything super bad but exist), will enjoy this perspective. Although not all the parents are on the same page about the concept of adoption (eyes her mom), it gives light to how people mistakingly view adoption as a buy and return policy compared to blood relations. It's not explicitly stated but the undertone is there. She was adopted. So what. You adopted a human being. You chose this. Take responsibility and treat her well. For real.

Spoiler

regardless of the plot twist I still stand by this statement. Especially bc the only ones who knew she is biological were her father and her uncle. Everyone else still thought she had a right as an adopted child like her father's grandparents. And one cousin and her friend. Although it'll be nice if we could just get a straight up adopted MC who is treated like family through and through one day.

[collapse]

Imo after the first half, all the family tension and plot completely falls off and it focuses on the romance with a sort of entertainment lite ver. Of a plot lol. I'll say 2.5 rounded up just bc I feel nice. Tbh I miss the father. The way the writing resolved that was unsatisfactory as someone who really enjoyed the family relations in the novel.

Just another novel bringing you your daily dose of fluff! Meet MC with a princess syndrome suddenly finding her throne being threatened. So she turns to her prince (arranged-marriage-boyfriend) to try and establish her position. Later we find that their relationship is actually not as superficial as everyone excepts.

I really like their relationship as they’re very mature and open with each other. It’s just two consenting adults who choose to be together. The story has light conflict and I would say it has a feel of a romcom.

Important: read the... more>> extras! They tie up the story quite nicely. <<less

The FL may come seems like a haughty person but she is really nice. The FL and ML personality really compliment each other. Its a really sweet story. Not much conflict. The mtl version is readable

Adopted daughter who thought she was the real daughter vs real daughter who suddenly reappeared, for like 60% of the book, was the driving plot conflict. It gets resolved in a way, but then the following regarding that issue kinda dissipates into nothing. Like there’s not much mention of it later in the last act of the novel even though it was such a significant part of the novel for so long. It didn’t wrap up gratifyingly, nor was the impact of it felt significantly.

the main couple had good progress... more>> and growth, it felt natural. MC is spoiled, stubborn, sharp tongued, short tempered young miss, materialistic but can be intelligent when she wants to be. ML is calm, indifferent, cold but friendly, blunt and straightforward. I like that they had somewhat of an understanding of each other considering their long-standing engagement. They already have an established s*xual relationship, but without emotions attached.

I didn’t like how they just brushed over the ML’s issues, like there was one part in like the last 10 chapters where MC started to show some concern for ML problems, but that was over in like a chapter or two. Otherwise the world revolves around MC, who cares about ML and his issues, he is so OP he can sort it out himself right? I just found that very annoying. This is very much one of those tropey relationships you often find in these female centric novels, is that the ML always has to cater to the MC, whatever she wants, whatever whinge or whims, he is there to please her, and because he is so perfect he can solve his own sh*t himself. This is not as bad as others I have read, where she does have to placate him every now and then. My issue is it doesn’t feel balanced, which is why I can’t give this a five stars, and MC was kinda annoying at times.

decent read, will not reread. <<less

Finally done reading it and all I can say is MVP: Lang Ningyi. MC's bff that gave MC insight on her current situation based on her knowledge in novels. LMAO

The romance is cute and fluffy. Normally it would be unrealistic to have such a sugar daddy kind of relationship, but the story kinda dodge it by showing how ML does not really care about the money and MC, having grown in a rich family, didn't put the material stuff in her eyes. Thus, thankfully no issue happened due to this... more>> potential imbalance in power dynamic and any problem that could have exist are easily solve by ML who keep on putting her as his top priority regardless of what happens and even when he's still confused of his feelings (UNLIKE OTHER MLs).

However, with the ML doing more and MC creating chaos for the relationship, I sometimes could not help myself hoping for MC to do more for ML and for author to create a problem where MC herself need to fight for ML for love just as ML did. It just felt odd that ML's love was kept on being challenge than MC, especially when we have 2 2ML fighting for MC, yet for ML it's just no name girls. As far as I know MC's love was never tested beyond when she learned that there's a problem on ML's company. Tho, then again I skimmed the last 10 chapters as I wasn't that interested to see her become "independent" and doing what she want since I am aware that in reality, just her name probably help her easily get a job that she wants. Not saying she didn't work hard or deserve it, just that the road is way easier for her, who has rich connections, than an average joe.

As to the parents problem part...

Spoiler

First off, I just want to say that I personally don't see being drunk as an excuse on having s*x with someone you shouldn't have. In my opinion, it at most enhance what you really want to do w/o your rational thinking able to stop you. So when I read that MC's father and adoptive mother had a drunk s*x despite the former having a gf (MC's mother), I had 0 pity for the father. At least it is understandable for the adoptive mother to act that way while drunk when she has a crush on him (btw just in case, it seems that the drunk s*x was truly an accident as even the adoptive mother was surprised but happy to see they had s*x and later got pregnant, so manage to force him to get married to her). But the father? At least in his defense he tried to be responsible to what he committed.

MC's biological mother broke up with the father as soon as she learned they had s*x, not when her friend is pregnant. She couldn't accept him, unfortunately she got pregnant and got a cancer at that (a nice gesture of author saying you can leave now lol).

And so we reach the part why they deserve each other, the mother forcing him to marry her DESPITE knowing he has a lover and thus getting a karma by having her husband adopting MC w/o telling her it's really his biological child with her friend. As much as I respect people marrying each other for the sake of the child, I feel like you are just asking for a beating when you marry someone who are unable to let go their feelings for another; as it's very obvious you would not be the top of their priority.

I personally wasn't that mad that the adoptive mother had a lukewarm relationship with MC as her husband never ask her opinion in the adoption. Tho, then again she never denied or refuse it, if that's the case she should have at least did her best as a mother.

[collapse]

Overall, a nice story to read. <<less

It's fine... I guess ?

It's pretty good but I was so bored towards the end that I just ended up skipping some chapters.

The MC and ML are both pretty likeable, especially the ML. Although to be fair, I'm so tired of the cold, ruthless CEO type MLs that I would usually like the MLs that does not follow this troupe. (He's still quite cold though but not indifferent)

As for the FL, she's fine but she could be quite arrogant and annoying but not too much that she became unbearable.... more>> I'm also a bit disappointed that she's so resistant to her family after the conflicts. I was hoping to see some family dynamics but I guess not.

Also, I don't like how the real daughter fake daughter conflict was resolved so quickly that it was just kinda forgotten towards the end. The second half of the story being a romance story with little to no conflicts is probably why I was getting impatient towards the end. <<less

A bit disappointing.... The conflicts around the adopted daughter and the real daughter did not come to light and it just faded into the background.... The family dynamics were not shed light upon and the issue just resolved by itself; after some time the antagonisting characters did not even show up.... I have read many novels with strong, independent MC who if were in this mc's place would think with their head, work really hard in the family business to secure their spot, handle both interpersonal relationships really well alongside... more>> their career but here a bit disappointed when MC just chose to leave all that....

Well if you think about it, the wealthy second generation young miss would be like her, if not all but most of them, so her characters are realistic; childish, immature, willful, proud to the point of arrogance but not evil, stubborn and depending on their male counterpart most of the time, with a slight sugar baby tendencies... But it do be true...

In the start of the story, really liked the dynamics between MC and ml, their separation was a bit annoying and felt dragged out...

But all in all enjoyed it... Thanks to the author and translator.... <<less

I love how most of the dog blood resolved within the first 2 thirds of the chapters, so the last third of the chapters mainly focussed on the romance between the leads. The romance was romancing. However I do wish that guan Ying and the mc’s adoptive mother faced more consequences for their atrocious actions, I was rather surprised by how quickly it was brushed over.

2 chapters to go and I think I've read enough to be able to leave a review.

Wasn't a bad read but it wasn't that exciting either. I guess the most exciting bit was the adoption story but after that was sorted out the story kinda went flat for me. Would like to read the little sis story (the actress) though am wondering if it's worth it considering it's the same author! But try it I shall...😊

4.5 stars

This is a fun story that has enough fluff in it. At first, the MC isn't really my cup of tea in a female lead. She's cowardly and emotionally weak when it comes to her parents. These are traits that I don't like in my FLs. But once she gets over this, her bright personality comes through and I started liking her character. The romance between MC and ML was there from the start since they are childhood acquaintances who had an arranged marriage. Their feelings for each other... more>> were developed gradually though, which I liked. Also, the friendships here are wholesome and reliable. The conflicts introduced in the story are not really difficult hurdles for the couple. They easily overcome any setback they face. The main antagonist of the story is disappointing. She did not pose much of threat to the MC and she basically just disappeared for the last quarter of the story. Despite that, I enjoyed reading from start to end. Although I have to admit that this isn't what you'd call a "page-turner" kind of novel; hence, the 4.5 stars which I had to round off to 5 in NU. <<less

Enjoyable enough. The family drama was slightly dissapointing, I feel like there should have been more face slapping for the "real" daughter who came back, especially since she was found out to be a green tea b*tch. That plot line was never really resolved and it just faded into the background. Same with her "mothers" family, I feel like they should have been slapped, especially since they purposefully targeted MC.

But MC and MLs relationship was good, they grew into their feelings and didn't rely on the arranged marriage to be... more>> together. Many people say that MC has princess syndrome and is spoilt, but I dont necessarily agree. She is bold, arrogant and speaks her mind, and so what if she likes shopping? I find her a lot more refreshing than a lot of timid and quite MCs who don't do anything. <<less

I can’t put a finger on why it was so boring - this had such a strong start, an interesting premise, fun characters (I like that the FL is unlike usual rich composed FLs, made her seem more real + her friend is so cute)... but it was so boring. I skimmed most of the novel.

It's not bad but... it's not really my thing? Tbh I read this kind of story as entertainment or wish fulfillment, so this kind of MC who's more realistically insecure and overly forgiving of her parents, and the MC-ML relationship at the start, is frustrating for me. This feels like the kind of world that would be the background of a qt novel. I would've liked it if there was more face slapping, but I think if it did then it wouldn't have its charm anymore. In the end I... more>> just decided to give it 4. <<less

It's an arranged marriage where the two of them gets long splendidly and has mutual consideration for each other. It's a really good read and a little emotional on Guan Xi's side.

It's quite short with a straightforward storyline, yet engaging enough for you to finish it fast (completed in 24 hours)

Simple, quite predictable but not too boring. Perfect if you want something to read quickly without having to crack your brains with the plot.
