I usually like the “silly-sweet” female lead trope but the FL really didn’t seem like that. The writing was flat so it was hard to get into the story too.

Found this novel today and it was so cute and good.. So far I love it as the MC's so cute but very stubborn and ML is sweet brother next door... So far up to 10chapters.. made wish that I have this type of brother.... I am going to MTL the rest and come back to read the translations as the translator did very good job to deliver the story fluently.

Both of MC and ML have a really good relationship and cute fluffy moment between them... if you want to... more>> read something light and relax.. I would like to recommend this novel..

For translator : as you post it on google docs.. don't forget to lock it as viewer so no one can ruin your translation.

Edited : MC loved ML but ML thought that MC was with his cousin and MC thought ML had a fiancée... OMG... the funny part when ML thought that MC was heartbroken because of his cousin, , , he came to coax her.. haiya <<less

The MC is a love brain girl btw. There's not enough showing of her stable side imo; the author just tells us look how stable she is in variety shows in a paragraph but Not a lot of actual description. There is however a lot of description and showing of her acting like her tv characters: silly, cute, and a bit white lotus for love. Definitely not my type of MC. She says she just looks young, but ironically she ends up acting like a 16yr old in love.

when she pretended to hurt her ankle bc she saw a lady talk to the ml.... I was like you are not doing this standard villain white lotus move rn mother f*cking shit. She also made the ML piggyback her in front of that lady and then gave her a cold look behind his back... (bit*h you don't even know her!!)

Then, I was really disappointed here. I legitimately was baited. So when fake news comes out that she's the ml's sidepiece and she gets bombarded w reporters and pushed down, she has this moment where she empathizes with her dead celebrity mom on how she must have felt in the limelight.

Let us recall her father and brother both disagree with her being in entertainment bc of what happened to their mom/wife and how they are concerned for her. Ok so then when she tells her agent she needs to go to the fancy house neighborhood, the agent is like what? Bc she is thinking why do you want to go to the ml's place probably. BUT IM LIKE noooo she wants to reassure her family (who live next door to the ml) and sympathize with their feelings. SEE I WAS DEFENDING HER BC I HAD GOOD EXPECTATIONS FOR A LOGICAL THINKING. But no the agent was right. She waited for the ML at his door basically to apologize for bringing him into the news.... but bit*h you're not concerned about your family seeing you get pushed and hurt on tv when they seem to be traumatized by your mom's life as a celebrity first?? TALK ABOUT BAIT AND SWITCH

Flat narrative and characters. Average mary sue that has character settings that could turn around depending on convenience.

FL's character is really boring and vague. She's an unpopular artist for 4 years. Although from a rich family, they disagree with her career because of her deceased mom so she doesn't get any support behind the scenes. Despite that, she really likes acting so she endures. But everyone has something they endure and no one can go anywhere with just enduring. Like her agent said, she's very principled to not give up... more>> but lacks courage to actually break through. She's basically just there floating around in the entertainment industry going with wherever the wave takes her. She remains stubborn with her family claiming she likes acting (which gets repeated throughout) but I guess it's not enough 'like' for her to actually get out of her comfort zone.

She complains all she gets are silly white sweet roles for all these four years she's in the industry but doesn't make any effort to shed this impression. Changing her style depending on roles she wants to get is the least she could do but she just lays there waiting for her agent to spoon feed her with opportunities her agent finds for her. Still, once her agent offers her something outside her comfort zone she just rejects it. For all these four years she didn't attend any social functions 'because she's afraid of unspoken rules' as if every social functions are involved in unspoken rules and because she's bad with social situations. But whaddyaknow she can dance and be coquettish to vegetable sellers for a discount, what of 'bad with social situations'? Well it doesn't matter cause there's an omnipotent ML.

Guess how she rises up the ranks? "Hardworking" package? Nah, she couldn't go anywhere with that in all four years. Her big background ML and family paves the way for her. Author directly tr*shed FL's four years of "hardwork" starting from the bottom while simultaneously selling FL as hardworking who started from the bottom. <<less

The most sane novel I've read about Celebs and Showbiz in a while. There's not much face slapping, because there's no brain dead cannon fodder in this novel, THANK GOD!

I also like the FL, when she was described cute, I can really feel her cuteness while reading the novel. And ML is not overbearing or cruel. He's very normal, most characters in these novel are, even the netizens and fans.

This novel is actually not that special but it's just the kind of genre that I like. A light romance with bits of angst and bunch of comedies. I love the premise even though it's cliche. The perfect break between reading heavy historical ones.

Very sweet story. Childhood neighbours with girl crushing on ML. She worked hard against her rich family wishes to become an actress and was disappointed when the ML struggled to see her as anything else but the little sister that he spoilt since young. But ML finally realised and chased FL back. No major angst, sensible and rational characters, funny side characters especially her brother Yuanbai. Extra chapters a definite bonus.

Nice, quick read. Nothing groundbreaking and has a very predictable plot, but I still surprisingly found myself sticking with it til the end. Romance was enjoyable enough. Good to pass the time with and if you want to read something without consuming too much brainpower.

I like the premise and plot of the stories. Author did a great job. But the narratives are a bit hard to read (a bit boring) so most of the time I skipped reading them n just focus on what will happen next.

I dont understand the purpose of the backstories that FL working hard and starting from bottom but then in the end her success actually happens due to assistance from ML and her family. This part is a bit dissapointing.

There are a lot of cute and fluffy moments in... more>> this story. Also have some funny moment. Just some of them are a bit awkwardly inserted. But overall still ok. Would recommend this for a light read.

Good for a short fluffy love story. There is no major point of fight or issue but the story is quite realistic and fun to read. I think the major attraction about the novel is how comfortable the leads are with each other.

Meet-cute silly-sweet story about rich girl and her neighbor/childhood 'brother'... Not much emphasis on the showbiz part - just used as a plot device to move the story. Girl chasing guy, then guy chasing girl kind of fluffy story - at least there are no exasperating misunderstandings...

It's not a bad novel but way too mediocre for me.

Note: My review might be somewhat tainted since I read this one after finishing a really long and terrible novel, so I was in need of a palate cleanser but obviously, this novel is not it.

As mentioned, this story is pretty average. A way to kill time at best, if you don't have any better things to read. I find everything about it boring, but it's so boring to the point that I can use it as sleeping pills LOL.... more>> I can't remember how many nights I slept just after reading a chapter or two. That's why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

The MC is a silly sweet type, but pretty bland, not very interesting as a character. The ML is also the same, his character is one-note, the typical overbearing president who is cold to everyone except the MC.

TBH, I can't find chemistry between them. Yeah, they have sweet interactions but there are no butterflies. You don't feel that giggly, fluttering feelings that make you want to ship them. Sometimes I even feel icky as they interacted so much like brother and sister.

The whole plot is also boring. It lacked the charms the other showbiz stories have since the MC basically did nothing. There would be paragraphs mentioned how she got popular through variety shows and films, but the author never dove deep into it, so as a reader, I also don't feel any gratification when it is said that she became successful.

If you wished to read about funny antics MC acts on variety shows, there aren't any.

If you wished to read about face-slapping scenes that make you feel satisfied, there aren't any.

If you wished to read about acting/singing performance that left others in awe, there aren't any.

If you wished to read about netizens comments, there are those, but not many, and not even funny.

My suggestion: find something better to read, unless you really can't find anything else to waste time. It's not that bad of a read. <<less

This story is kind of cute but is also super uncomfortable (at parts).

The MC is a young actress who has no support despite coming from a wealthy family (they initially do not approve) and is undervalued by her agent. She grew up with a single father and her brother (and cousins) as well as her brother's best friend who initially treated her like a little sister. This quickly changes as she realizes she has romantic feelings for him, and she begins to court him. She acts very young (borderline immature)... more>> but is a genuinely decent actress.

The ML is the boy next door who has just returned from being away for several years. At first, he treats her like a little sister but several people point out that he doesn't look at her like that. He goes through a condensed version of the stages of grief when he realizes they're right. Even mild disgust at himself. Eventually, he does give in to his feelings and begins to pursue her.

The story starts off with the MC struggling in the acting world. We get to watch as she goes from a regular but ignored actress to a slightly popular star. Along the way, there are a few bumps in her life but most of it is self induced.

For example, she overhears the ML telling his friends that he could never like her. Something he says when he is still trying to sort out his feelings for her. From there, she begins to treat him distantly which makes him even more confused (as he missed her).

Then there is an actress who targets the MC's friend after the other accidentally puts a mark on her dress. The actress pours juice on the friend's dress which then prompts the MC to pour juice on the actress. Protecting her friend is valid but it was a rather braindead move of someone who didn't really have backing at that point (her brother had become okay with her acting but no one knew she was from that family at that point).

As the story is short, things happen very quickly. To the point that it's almost nonsensical. The MC's family becomes okay with the idea of her acting in like one conversation despite the fact that they have bad history with the entertainment scene. They also become very okay with the ML within minutes even if it's a bit weird to go from an "older brother" role to "lover".

Apparently, the MC's mother was an actress but was super sensitive to all the negative comments. This led to her depression and eventual su*cide when the MC was a child. Which honestly makes me feel like she wasn't fully supported in the entertainment world by her husband because the MC's family is not a small unimportant family by any means.

I did like the story but the ML's early story frequent thoughts about how it was wrong to fall in love with the MC made me feel a little uncomfortable. Especially with how he kept calling her a child or little girl. There is a small age gap (ML is in his late 20s while the MC is 24 if I remember right) but not enough for him to think of her as a kid. It was like the Author was really, really trying to drive it home how the ML was once the "older brother" of the MC.

There is enough entertainment to make up for it (especially when the MC's brother kept calling the ML "Younger Brother" once the couple was official) so it's an alright read for an evening. <<less

It was good, until it wasn't. MC is horribly shy and the demure, damsel in distress kinda person. ML is, well, your over cliche'd ML. With these words, I'm gonna guess you already have a mind of where it'll go-- and you're right. That is exactly where it will go. Good for a fun brainless read, but if you want something more substantial, eh, you can pass.

There's something about how the show kept shoving MC fighting to be an actress w/o bg and then use MC's and ML's family influence to win over a fight that annoys me. Thus, can't really rate it any higher than 3, that element completely ruins the story for me.

Slice-of-life/romance entertainment novel.

A bit fantastical and unrealistic, but at the same time, not as shoujo/unrealistic/immature as some other novels in the showbiz genre.

At least most of the cast have pretty realistic reactions and felt pretty fleshed out as characters.

ML is extremely doting, but I liked that the MC figured out what she wanted and tried to chase him first. It was a nice read overall. Very adorable, sweet, fluffy, hardly any angst (just a bit to keep the tension).

Fantastic translation.

It's surprising that she could keep her purity after all those years being an actress without revealing her background. She also determined to rely on herself in the entertainment industry but in the end, she could become popular partly with the help of ML who just came back from abroad. I also think that she was a bit egoist. I know that being an actress was her long time dream but she should also look from her family's POV before stubbornly pursued her dream.

Her mother was died from su*cide because of depression after being ab*sed by netizen almost everyday (she was also an actress like MC). Imagine the trauma that left in her dad and her brother's heart when she died (MC was still too young back then so she couldn't understand at that time). But MC refused to understand her family's POV and even kept blaming them for not understanding her. Well, I'm glad it turned out to be okay in the end but this reason made me dislike MC more.
