Honestly, I have a problem with having high expectations and always being disappointed. I saw where this novel COULD go, instead of seeing where it MIGHT go. Overall a letdown, and I was ready to rate it a 5 early on, then it slowly went further down as I continued reading.

... more>> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Worthy of more than 3.6 but I understand why some voted lower. I like where I THINK this is heading, but the ecchi is annoying.

The author also likes explaining things too much and will waste a lot of words to describe MC doing something useless. If you don't usually read other books besides web novels, maybe your ADD will pick up. At times mine did too.

While I love when web novel authors take the time to develop characters and the world, this author kind of fails. Even though we get so much "character development", MC's group still feels flat. They don't really have personalities besides "little brother stroking" and women. We get told how poor MC and his family are but it doesn't do much. We are supposed to feel for him, but I just can't find myself able to. These characters aren't relatable. MC is over the top at times. We still don't really know the scope of the world because the author has not explained it well.

In all, it's like a slice of life up to now. Nothing really happens. Boring school life, boring work life combined with farming. The author could have fit the same story of 55 chapters into 30-40 easily. However, we all know that authors get more money by inflating their word count.

Anyway, I'd rate this a 4 not because of the current content but for potential. There's a huge world to explore and MC hasn't even started fighting yet. This is like a prologue or prelude. I'll make a final judgement after it gets juicy. <<less

I don't even know how and why I continued reading till chapter 30 but honestly I was disappointed... Many reviews said that MC is kind I don't see why he is kind when he only started cleaning and doing all that stuff after knowing he gets merit points from system. Whole thing feels so unnatural and cliché that it's no fun to read. His mother washed his underwear which was filled his wet dreams and what does she say to mc? My guoguo grew up... MC is just 15. Maybe... more>> in post apocalyptic world it might be normal but honestly whole thing feels weird when your mother is accepting it so easily she treats u like a little kid and she's accepting all these bad habits. Your father teaching you all dirty tricks and all. A random teacher which is sort of an idol in school and MC just stalks her everyday.

70% of the story till now is just vulgar stuff 20% description about beauties which MC would never have and 10% real plot going.... If this considered solid plot or whatever I don't know what to say it might be better later on but till now it just feels dumb to read where vulgar stuff keeps repeating as a filler. I don't find MC all that likeable too... Other reviews say MC is clever but I feel his surroundings are so dumb that he naturally turns out to be clever... Well this is just my opinion.

MC gets introduction to fight club and he is asked to follow receptionist towards the room after author takes his time describing how s*xy the butt is and MC starts to get horny just by that... MC tries to naivly talk to her only to be shot down. Girls are really sensitive how you look at them I'm considering that's why she shot down MC rudely before he even got chance. But what does MC do? He grabs her shoulder tells her she will later beg for him to fk her and thurst his standing d at her stomach a few times before rudely telling her to show the way again. Author in multiple times tries to show how MC is different from those rude fellows in his school who masturbate at their idol teacher in classroom but in reality he is just the same. I don't see any kindness just a hypocrite in him. I'm not expecting him to be chivalrous or gentlemanly but come on at least have some bare minimum manners, this was the moment which put me off and made me quit reading.

MC finds the castle of black iron in chapter 13 but he uses it in dumb way uptil this point... He gets it and first thing he does is start running around like an idiot. Ik he doesn't have any manual or anything but I would expect a better usage of thing from someone being called 'clever' he gets in and out of castle with water only to realise it consumes energy to get inside where it is hinted in beginning when he entered that he doesn't have enough energy to stay inside after certain time in same chapter he got castle. There are many lengthy and unnecessary explanations that it turns really boring to read. Some reviews say that it teaches about business but there are many other books which teach you about business waste your time there than here! Besides business it doesn't have a single redeem feature other than boring you!

I would not recommend this novel, you can try it at your own risk. <<less

Just wow. Where should I start?

On one hand, I understand that the MC is a teenage boy living in a world destroyed by calamity.

But than I have to scratch my head by how confusing the world actually is. I can't help but raise an eyebrow at how many times the Author mentions masturbation and s*x within the first few chapters.

... more>> The plot doesn't even get going until chapter 10 and even then, the special space inside the MC mind is pretty much an after thought of this story.

Take it out and there would be no difference.

I'm not joking.

Then there is the MC who wants to make a name for himself, and from what I've read, all he does is treat every women he comes across as trash, thinks he's above those who masturbate which he really isn't, because he stalks his teacher every day and dreams of marrying her even if its against her will.

And than, if that wasn't bad enough, the author wants to shove 'Pro Chinese' down our throats.

I don't see any redeeming properties, that would make me want to read further.

If you can read this, I personally bow to you. <<less

Good story! There might be a few cliches, but those are tolerable and done nicely.

My biggest issues: The story's kinda perverted. Lots of s*xual references. The s*x scenes are not blatant, but you can tell when the MC gets some 'action'. I don't really like the MC's interactions with women, none of them (so far) have been characterized well. They feel like trophies. Cool trophies, but they're still trophies. Also, the author sometimes uses other ways to refer to his 'airplane'.

If you can deal with that, then this story... more>> is a brilliant one, although the MC is almost too perfect so far. Perfect gentleman to ladies, popular with the dudes (not s*xually). No super big setbacks, but he does have some problems. I sense that a big one's coming though.

MC's mysterious family issues are finally coming to light whooo

MC's interactions with people are fairly interesting. I feel that there aren't many side character that are fully fleshed out, but that's to be expected. No one in that low level continent has the oomph to keep up with the MC so far.

Speaking of racism (or ethnicism) there hasn't been any really. The author isn't putting anyone down from what I can tell, he's just praising the Chinese over and over again. I haven't found it to be annoying, but it's there. Just saying.

There's a slow start to this novel. Only recently do I feel that the real story has begun. Don't worry, the start's still interesting.

Even though it's set in an apocalyptic setting, there's no immediate danger. There's a feeling of hope. The world building is quite complex and interesting; I like it.

A holy war is coming in a few years though! MC's preparing.

MC's cheat is fun~ It keeps evolving, but it doesn't do it randomly. I'm waiting for the reveal.

MC's not OP yet, but he can jump levels. He's still pretty darn weak worldwide, but in the area he's fairly capable. <<less

There should be r-18 tag by now for this novel.

This novel is about futuristic setting for place similar to earth but due horrible deed done by humanity, karma struck by changing most of the elements in this world. Therefore previous knowledge about nuclear, explosive and much more are obsolete. Furthermore demon/alien has arrive and devour humanity and now only remnants survive. MC live in business driven rural country and poor. He is like frog in a well and ignorant about the world due to life difficulties.

About MC, this is cultivation... more>> novel and MC has a interesting cheat. By absorb something, he gain access to a field and special tree. Special fruit come out as a result day-to-day event encounter due to karma generate. All good event will produce special fruit that increase MC ability and so on. Plant can be planted at the field and there is much more.

Overall the pace is slow but interesting. Sometimes author did not prolong scene and action feel quicker but sometime there is an event that I think MC speak too much especially when he plotting something. Most importantly I think MC is not stupid, decisive and not truly annoying.

Chinese supremacy is there in the novel. One interesting to note is that MC is a Chinese that living in a English speaking world. English is common lingua franca.

This is a harem novel that is truly ridiculous. S*x scene is funny as author and translator choice of word to portray the action.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this novel. Did not expect to find another gem. Although not perfect, it feel different than most novel especially the good unexpected karma part. <<less

A very slow burn of a story. Personally I feel the vibe is similar to Undefeated God of War: a good-hearted MC, somewhat naive (about the world), ambitious (has personal goals) but still level-headed (knows the effort needed to get there).

Much of the current chapters (50+) are spent on world building: a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world where much of its previous history and technology have been forgotten.

The humble MC gets a spatial ability similar to "Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World": he is able to grow crops... more>> according to the limitations set by a virtual AI-type interface. As of the current translation, we have no idea just how powerful or influential this ability is, as the MC is constantly besieged by real world problems: adolescent curiosity about s*x, bullies at school, earning money to help out his family.

Much of the story's 'humor' revolves around the s*xual ignorance of his peers. You know, the old fashioned way before the internet: tell exaggerated stories and spreading hearsay and second-hand, inaccurate knowledge. Some of the phrases don't translate well, 'hit-plane' for example is a Chinese slang for masturbation and thus much of the giggles is lost when turned into English.

For those who are annoyed at the slow buildup such as in Tales of the Reincarnated Lord, you should give this one a pass as well because the author is just as meticulous and plodding. In the later chapters (40+) there are hints of a growing crisis but as mentioned, the MC is distracted by immediate and personal problems around him.

Requires patience and chapter stacking. <<less

Steampunk + Cultivation

Many reviews mention the MCs one track mind. It's true in the beginning of the story, but the MC has character development. After he has a big orgie he isn't that fixated on s*x anymore. The women are still depected as weak and squeamish generally. (But I think that will change aswell, I'm hoping :))

The cultivation system is one of the best out there.

There are 2 different cultivation systems: 1. The normal one who everyone does. Its about activation accupuncture points. 2. The castle of black iron:... more>> Thats a plane/world/sphere in the mind of the MC:

The castle of black iron has a kingdom building aspect. Through raising the energy level by absorbing matter and planting he can raise the stats and power and make up of the black iron castle. With the power he can change plants/ get plants with special powers. Then there is the magic tree which gives him special fruits.

The world building of this novel is top notch. There are many different countries with different costums and relegions. The MC even takes part in an October Fest :-) in Lederhosen.

I'm at chapter 382 and the MC just travelled to the north. So I'm excited to know what the people in the north are about. <<less

This, in my opinion, is a good but not excellent novel.

The Good points of this novel:

The character actually grows up from a lusty teenager and is not a OP person that has reincarnated or is just OP by default. You get to see him at his worst and his best.

After the slow start of the novel, things gets quite interesting and funny. ... more>>

The MC starts a mining cult by accident and gets a circumcision (don't ask me why, just read about it :D)

The love stories (yes, there is something good about them) have a purpose. The MC has a crush on his teacher and dosen't get with her immediately.

But event after 370+ chapters, he still wants to be with her even though she probably don't remember him that much or at all.

The cultivation and the MC's cheat is done in a pretty good way. The MC dosen't steam through the cultivation levels in a week and become OP. There's a pretty unique system (though, not the only one of it's kind) and the usage of the Fibonacci Sequence as a explanation of how every level is determined is very clever. The cheat-system is a separate space with a karma tree that gives the MC fruits that can help him grow stronger. Though the point that I especially like is the fact that the system removes the fruit if the MC has done something that goes against the systems base programming.

So if he make a goodhearted or normal person a prisoner or restrains them for no reson, he gets punished by the system.

The Negative parts:

The female characters that matter has some dimension to them but the rest are pretty one dimensional. Also the three main girls kinda got forgotten about by the author after a certain point and we've only gotten a clue where one of them are a long time after the last meeting. Granted we got a slight clue where others are but that's it.

The s*xual parts in this novel are kinda over the top.

The first thing the MC's group of "best" friends does when we meet them are masturbating in a classroom and invites the MC

.... that's just a bit to much. Another thing about the s*xual parts, is the fact that every time the MC meets a woman he cheeks out her ass and tits and gets a hard-on. I mean, ok he's still a teenager full of hormones but come on.

The karma system in this world that only the MC and a few enlightened people seem to have found out about.

The MC can free any captured animal (not captured by him) and after a certain amount of freed animals, he can get their special ability.

I like this concept generally but the fact that this is not known by the ruling classes baffles me.

So these are my points on this novel. If you want to read this, you better be prepared for a slow start and get ready for the good parts in the later chapters! <<less

The Story is about a 15y old horny boy and his 15y old horny friends (with an added up IQ of nearly 95 altogether (MC+Friends)) thinking and doing lude stuff for the first 94 Chapters so far. The book also seems to be written by a 15y old horny boy (or maybe it´s the translation), but every butt is plumb, all breasts are plump and yeah, nearly forgot it, every d**n women is plumb. Sometimes even the Story is written without any deeper meaning, just pretending to be well planed.... more>> Besides that the Story feels super slow paced. Not like Warlock of the Magus World but more like watching your new born son growing up and becoming a lude good for nothing, over the duration of 18 years in realtime.

Imagine you were kidnapped by two guys. The Guys don´t know your name, don´t know where u live and also dont know any of your friends or family members. You could escape using your secret technique, but u can´t use it, because this would expose your secret and therefor would bring doom to your familiy, friends and so on. Therefore.... WOAH STOP!?! How could you bring doom to your familiy if your kidnappers know neither you nor your family? Just one Example of MANY not so well planed semi-interesting plots so far.

You can give this book a try, if ya like the crude writing-style. It´s not that pleasend for me, but it´s just my personal point of view an not an universal truth. If ya don´t like the first 30 Chapters you can stop, because it stays the same until at least CH94. <<less

There's a lot of nationalism later on, and quite frankly what bothers me the most about it is that it's not just the character being overly proud in the chinese, it's the author making most great things/people chinese, and even making it so that while he was a minority where he was and had little benefits there from being chinese, he never dealt with much prejudice against him and it works in the silliest places.

The premise and story is good but it's 60% filler material. You'll see tons of text about flag design, details in armor, etc that is completely useless information and never referenced again. While I like the story, I find myself skimming most chapters.

This novel has the best opening 300 chapters of the ~250 stories I've read. It has a slow start but it is needed for proper character growth, some parts are a little boring but it goes full speed ahead at chapter 50.

I enjoy the story so much because the MC seems real, so many mc's are just blank do gooders with amazing talent. They do the right thing almost all of the time and have great control of their emotions and rarely express them which lets the authors create great... more>> moments when they finally do. Black Iron's MC is different, at first he reacts and acts on instincts with barely any planning, as he experiences more his actions start to change dramatically.

Not that novels need to have s*x but it is human and often becomes a glaring plot hole with most mc's. Black Iron's author embraces it and stuffs the s*x plot hole full of content but it is never a focus (well it was for a while). Basically just enough s*x for character building which did a great job in making the MC seem more genuine along with the recurring bouts of naivety which gradually improve his character. The MC falls on a ton of hard times, almost none of his early accomplishments were easy which mainly stem from inexperience. The time in the fighting club is a great example haha.

Anyway, this is one of the best stories on nu atm 10000% everyone should read it. <<less

It's an interesting story, but suffers from quite a few flaws. The MC being s*x-starved 24/7 with a hard-on that just pops up every few hours. I knew it was "ecchi" going in, but there's only so many times you can hear the term "horny student" and talk about plump breasts before it starts to get old. Also, the authors writes the MC to be the cleverest person in the room, and for some reason everyone easily believes him. The story tends to drag on, and there's quite a bit... more>> of repetition.

The technology level is a bit inconsistent. They talk about being in the steam age, have steam-powered military SUVs despite, photography, magnesium alloys, but also say how all old technology had been lost. At the beginning they seem to have forgotten all about modern technology, later they are talking about polymers and proteins.

There was also some blatant homophobia (some kids threw vegetables at a group of guys because they thought they were gay), which was a bit unsettling. Later when the Chinese faction is introduced the author goes into racial superiority/segregation territory.

I do like the story, mostly when the MC is on his own. <<less

This novel is very slow, especially the beginning which I kinda speed read because of all the info dump. Another problem is the vulgarity and pervertedness which takes some time to get used to. Other than that the translations are lacking, they are generally decent but every now and then the translator gets brain farts, especially when dealing with the cultivation (which can be a bit confusing).

So then why give it 4 stars? Well once the series gets going at around chapter 20, it becomes a very enjoyable progression adventure... more>> and coming of age story. The story has some game element like progression which I always enjoy and the main character becomes more and more interesting over time. <<less

Loyal follower of Drunken tiger gogogo!

The story is actually well plotted out, and is really funny (it adheres to a specific side of humor though).

There are a cast of characters that are well built and bring a lot to the story, and of course the usual 1-demnsional ones, but no one care about those tbh.

... more>> In all fairness, the story is written more like a LN book, then a web series, so it takes time for certain arcs to get going especially between character growth.

Like usual rated based on actual raw work. <<less

Good story, geat potential. However the MC is a bit immature, with how he uses the black castle and is narrow minded with what it can do and its potential tbh its wasteful. Id spam the hell out of research etc and figure out the ins and outs of it.
