This novel is basically "WE WUZ KANGZ" - the Chinese Edition. I usually don't care about Chinese patriotism and I believe everyone should love their country and culture, but this author is smoking something crazy. Not only does this author steal achievements made by other peoples and cultures and just write them off as Chinese, but he basically just lumps all the white people together, and completely erases all the other Asians.

The setting is basically a world like Earth, but huge. The world goes through an apocalypse, the story begins... more>> after 900 years after the apocalypse. On this Earth, the Chinese are everything. Everything good, noble, smart, amazing, is Chinese. The Chinese in this world are the only ones who have bloodlines that can be awakened to give them power from ancient Chinese warriors (apparently only the Chinese came from ancient ancestors, everyone else just basically appeared out of nowhere with no bloodlines). Even if I was a Chinese nationalist, I would be ashamed by this author's thick skin.

I mean in what world would there be a business in a majority white country that can get away with creating a line specifically for the Chinese to skip waiting?

All of this is already sick to get through, but I was still enjoying the novel because it had some very cool and exciting moments. It got really good after chapter 50, and had some really exciting moments, but they were only just barely enough for me to continue reading this novel. However, chapter 525 broke the camels back and I just could not continue with the story. I mean the story was leading up to such a climax, and then the MC

gets a major power up only for the author to backtrack and nerf him and basically just make the last 150 chapters useless.

There is just no excuse for that.

Also, starting from chapter 350 it said that there was an editor for each chapter, but it really didn't feel like it. JUST an insane amount of grammar mistakes.

If I could go back in time, I would definitely NOT read this. <<less

Up until the survival arc, the novel felt very "slice of life" like.

The MC is not a kickass supertsmart guy that's reincarnated. Don't expect him to blow your mind from the get go.

It's a slow start, however, I can say that the MC grows up, especially from the survival arc and onward. He might still be a bit silly at times, and naive at certain moments, there is clear cut character progression. He's able to assess his mistakes and won't do them a second time.

At c185 where I'm at the... more>> moment, it feels like now (to use MMORPG terms) he's finally leaving the beginner village. <<less

2/5 for the first 200/300 chapters. It really became sh*t after around 500+ (after a demon fight, you'll see), but even before that, I was getting sick of the constant conspiracy theories and anti-science bullsh*t the author was trying to propagate (not to mention the Chinese supremacy).

As a fair warning to anyone that will read this novel. This novel is heavy on rascism and chinese propaganda. ... more>>

To give some example chinese are the rulers of the world, both before the apocalypse and after they are always the best and strongest.
The MC starting country which is showcased as westernish and ruled by buisnessmen is evil and the MC easily betrays the country and joins another cause it hasn't given him anything and he likes the more ancient chinese like country more. (Since you know free education, food and support doesn't matter, while the leaders are pretty bad the first 100ish chapter feels like serious pro china propaganda)

So if you can ignore or look past this then give it a try. The story and plot overall is well written and translated while not a top tier novel it is among the higher one's. There is a lot of s*xual parts in this which sadly again involves heavy rasicm.

In the starting part the MC is among the few chinese living in the country and is raised in a western city and culture. (This always confused me in the setting how a western chinese can be so pro china and wants to return to "china")

He is fairly early on surrounded by 3 western girls but even though they try their best to make him like them, he can't come to love them but their his possesions and pretty much tells them that they can only be his s*xual outlet.
It is heavily implied over the chapters that he looks down on the western girls and that they are all sluts that can only be used for s*xual favours and their only reason to be in the story is to be the MC's s*xual relief. It doesn't matter how pretty or hard the girls try they can at most be s*x buddies.
This is the ongoing trend for all the western girls until he goes over to the chinese side where he instantly falls in love with a proper chinese girl.
Who he then goes on to rape which as usual ends with the girl loving him. Now that he has started to get his first legal "wife" he becomes more open to western girls and is willing to allow them to become his concubines.

The treatment of girls is horrible to say the least here and while I've gotten numb to most of it, this story put a new twist on it by using rasicm on the MC's own partners to some degree. I'll just end this by saying the rasicm is real among the heaviest I've ever read if you read between the lines and it never really stops. Look past it and you'll really enjoy this one. 4-5* if you can look past it if not 2-3* <<less

I was intrigued as I read the premise and when I read the story the entire world building captured me as well because it's rather unique setting for this website... BUT OH MY, while world building and everything that narrator brings up is brilliant, every single scene with MC is absolute garbage that a dog pissed on.

Is kinda funny and story is has a nice setting. Not very smart MC and his schemes are kinda childish, which I didn't mind because it is consistent with his age. But what I do find annoying is the people around him. Their IQ is lower than a animal to believe his schemes and lies. I think the author try too hard with the jokes and there has to be always bystanders near the MC to compliment and praise him for being so smart. I would have like for some... more>> drama or tragedy to spice things up. Like his brother dying or losing a few of his friends to make him grow more mature (didn't like the whole group of 7 anyway). They are there just for comedy relief.

Things that are not appreciated in the story: It has a lot of chinese propaganda. <<less

When I first read the synopsis, I thought it was going to be a decent novel but the first 5 chapters are basically about the MC's lust and vulgarity.

Though I know that the MC is going through puberty and such, this is a little to much for me.

Don't get me wrong, I've read a lot of novels which have vulgar material in it, but this made me stop and think that it was way too lustful.

This is only my opinion so you can try the book out if you want.

Honestly, I have a problem with having high expectations and always being disappointed. I saw where this novel COULD go, instead of seeing where it MIGHT go. Overall a letdown, and I was ready to rate it a 5 early on, then it slowly went further down as I continued reading.

... more>> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Worthy of more than 3.6 but I understand why some voted lower. I like where I THINK this is heading, but the ecchi is annoying. The author also likes explaining things too much and will waste a lot of words to describe MC doing something useless. If you don't usually read other books besides web novels, maybe your ADD will pick up. At times mine did too. While I love when web novel authors take the time to develop characters and the world, this author kind of fails. Even though we get so much "character development", MC's group still feels flat. They don't really have personalities besides "little brother stroking" and women. We get told how poor MC and his family are but it doesn't do much. We are supposed to feel for him, but I just can't find myself able to. These characters aren't relatable. MC is over the top at times. We still don't really know the scope of the world because the author has not explained it well.

In all, it's like a slice of life up to now. Nothing really happens. Boring school life, boring work life combined with farming. The author could have fit the same story of 55 chapters into 30-40 easily. However, we all know that authors get more money by inflating their word count. Anyway, I'd rate this a 4 not because of the current content but for potential. There's a huge world to explore and MC hasn't even started fighting yet. This is like a prologue or prelude. I'll make a final judgement after it gets juicy. <<less

If you ever wondered what kind of novel written by a perverted racist Chinese would look like, look no further just read Castle of Black Iron.

All the males are potential rapists including the MC and all the females are objects to be used and abused.

A warning to the readers masturbation is a prominent focus of this story as is racism.

P.s: Also the oldest abacus discovered is Sumerian in origin.

This is not a masterpiece, like one reviewer said. Not even close. This is garbage.

The only reason I would read this is because the first 250 chapters are fine for killing time. They aren't good at all, but they're kind of like popcorn, you can just consume them and it won't be painful.

Sadly it gets REALLY sh*t after 250.

He meets a girl who doesn't want anything to do with him. This author clearly has never met a girl before because he makes every girl some dandy flower who is incapable of fighting back against anything or anyone. The MC literally runs after her and tries to rape her. She could easily beat him up, but she chooses not to because she's this dainty girl, apparently. She just keeps running. Then the MC eventually somehow catches up and forces a kiss on her.

This author clearly has not met a girl before.

It's basically a futuristic retelling of Genghis Khan. Everywhere he goes, he has lots of s*x with every woman who will spread her legs for him.

Early on in the series, he had a handful of possible pairings, but he just ends up doing all of them and then doing nearly every girl from his school on top of that. But he's not a man-whore, at least he bought all of them lingerie and rings as a parting gift.

Not only does the author stroke the MC's d*ck every chapter, he does the same thing for China as a whole. I'm no stranger to the whole nationalism thing in Chinese WNs, but this one takes it a bit too far.

Also, the MC has a tiny dimension in his mind that makes stuff for him. It's only marginally important and is generally just a vehicle for the author to advance the plot or otherwise add filler. <<less

The Story is about a 15y old horny boy and his 15y old horny friends (with an added up IQ of nearly 95 altogether (MC+Friends)) thinking and doing lude stuff for the first 94 Chapters so far. The book also seems to be written by a 15y old horny boy (or maybe it´s the translation), but every butt is plumb, all breasts are plump and yeah, nearly forgot it, every d**n women is plumb. Sometimes even the Story is written without any deeper meaning, just pretending to be well planed.... more>> Besides that the Story feels super slow paced. Not like Warlock of the Magus World but more like watching your new born son growing up and becoming a lude good for nothing, over the duration of 18 years in realtime.

Imagine you were kidnapped by two guys. The Guys don´t know your name, don´t know where u live and also dont know any of your friends or family members. You could escape using your secret technique, but u can´t use it, because this would expose your secret and therefor would bring doom to your familiy, friends and so on. Therefore.... WOAH STOP!?! How could you bring doom to your familiy if your kidnappers know neither you nor your family? Just one Example of MANY not so well planed semi-interesting plots so far.

You can give this book a try, if ya like the crude writing-style. It´s not that pleasend for me, but it´s just my personal point of view an not an universal truth. If ya don´t like the first 30 Chapters you can stop, because it stays the same until at least CH94. <<less

Just wow. Where should I start?

On one hand, I understand that the MC is a teenage boy living in a world destroyed by calamity.

But than I have to scratch my head by how confusing the world actually is. I can't help but raise an eyebrow at how many times the Author mentions masturbation and s*x within the first few chapters.

... more>> The plot doesn't even get going until chapter 10 and even then, the special space inside the MC mind is pretty much an after thought of this story.

Take it out and there would be no difference.

I'm not joking.

Then there is the MC who wants to make a name for himself, and from what I've read, all he does is treat every women he comes across as trash, thinks he's above those who masturbate which he really isn't, because he stalks his teacher every day and dreams of marrying her even if its against her will.

And than, if that wasn't bad enough, the author wants to shove 'Pro Chinese' down our throats.

I don't see any redeeming properties, that would make me want to read further.

If you can read this, I personally bow to you. <<less

Good story! There might be a few cliches, but those are tolerable and done nicely.

My biggest issues: The story's kinda perverted. Lots of s*xual references. The s*x scenes are not blatant, but you can tell when the MC gets some 'action'. I don't really like the MC's interactions with women, none of them (so far) have been characterized well. They feel like trophies. Cool trophies, but they're still trophies. Also, the author sometimes uses other ways to refer to his 'airplane'. If you can deal with that, then this story... more>> is a brilliant one, although the MC is almost too perfect so far. Perfect gentleman to ladies, popular with the dudes (not s*xually). No super big setbacks, but he does have some problems. I sense that a big one's coming though.

MC's mysterious family issues are finally coming to light whooo

MC's interactions with people are fairly interesting. I feel that there aren't many side character that are fully fleshed out, but that's to be expected. No one in that low level continent has the oomph to keep up with the MC so far.

Speaking of racism (or ethnicism) there hasn't been any really. The author isn't putting anyone down from what I can tell, he's just praising the Chinese over and over again. I haven't found it to be annoying, but it's there. Just saying.

There's a slow start to this novel. Only recently do I feel that the real story has begun. Don't worry, the start's still interesting.

Even though it's set in an apocalyptic setting, there's no immediate danger. There's a feeling of hope. The world building is quite complex and interesting; I like it.

A holy war is coming in a few years though! MC's preparing.

MC's cheat is fun~ It keeps evolving, but it doesn't do it randomly. I'm waiting for the reveal.

MC's not OP yet, but he can jump levels. He's still pretty darn weak worldwide, but in the area he's fairly capable. <<less

There should be r-18 tag by now for this novel.

This novel is about futuristic setting for place similar to earth but due horrible deed done by humanity, karma struck by changing most of the elements in this world. Therefore previous knowledge about nuclear, explosive and much more are obsolete. Furthermore demon/alien has arrive and devour humanity and now only remnants survive. MC live in business driven rural country and poor. He is like frog in a well and ignorant about the world due to life difficulties.

About MC, this is cultivation... more>> novel and MC has a interesting cheat. By absorb something, he gain access to a field and special tree. Special fruit come out as a result day-to-day event encounter due to karma generate. All good event will produce special fruit that increase MC ability and so on. Plant can be planted at the field and there is much more.

Overall the pace is slow but interesting. Sometimes author did not prolong scene and action feel quicker but sometime there is an event that I think MC speak too much especially when he plotting something. Most importantly I think MC is not stupid, decisive and not truly annoying.

Chinese supremacy is there in the novel. One interesting to note is that MC is a Chinese that living in a English speaking world. English is common lingua franca.

This is a harem novel that is truly ridiculous. S*x scene is funny as author and translator choice of word to portray the action.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this novel. Did not expect to find another gem. Although not perfect, it feel different than most novel especially the good unexpected karma part. <<less

A very slow burn of a story. Personally I feel the vibe is similar to Undefeated God of War: a good-hearted MC, somewhat naive (about the world), ambitious (has personal goals) but still level-headed (knows the effort needed to get there). Much of the current chapters (50+) are spent on world building: a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world where much of its previous history and technology have been forgotten. The humble MC gets a spatial ability similar to "Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World": he is able to grow crops... more>> according to the limitations set by a virtual AI-type interface. As of the current translation, we have no idea just how powerful or influential this ability is, as the MC is constantly besieged by real world problems: adolescent curiosity about s*x, bullies at school, earning money to help out his family.

Much of the story's 'humor' revolves around the s*xual ignorance of his peers. You know, the old fashioned way before the internet: tell exaggerated stories and spreading hearsay and second-hand, inaccurate knowledge. Some of the phrases don't translate well, 'hit-plane' for example is a Chinese slang for masturbation and thus much of the giggles is lost when turned into English.

For those who are annoyed at the slow buildup such as in Tales of the Reincarnated Lord, you should give this one a pass as well because the author is just as meticulous and plodding. In the later chapters (40+) there are hints of a growing crisis but as mentioned, the MC is distracted by immediate and personal problems around him.

Requires patience and chapter stacking. <<less

Great concept ruined by moronic writing.

I have to say, the author of this webnovel is an amateur and this might be an insult to amateurs. The writing is bottom notch. He just sucks to be honest.

plotting is Zero. The writer is so slow over trivial details and tells us the story of every hour of everyday in the most boring way, only to skip over the important details later, which is annoying to any reader.

The author is also trying constantly to sound philosophical and "explore the truth of life" with... more>> his boring paragraphs but he sucks so much at it that I don't know how his Chinese readers never called him out for it..

I won't go on with this so that it doesn't just turn into a rant. But if you want to read this webnovel, you need to have great patience. <<less

One of the best novels that I have been able to read, the truth is that I agree with the majority at the point that the beginning is somewhat coarse, making many references to s*xual themes, but after that point everything goes uphill, excellent writing, excellent plot, exciting fights and memorable characters (although it is also true that women are more a s*xualized object for the character and is one of the few negative points that could be put), to the point that I have read (cap 650) it stays... more>> very well and I hope that the negative criticisms that have fallen on you do not discourage the translators, because personally I hope to read this great novel until the end. <<less

Let me start this review by saying that this story has HUGE and blatantly obvious flaws. The most egregious being that nearly all the male characters (including the Main Character) act like the creepily perverted guys you find in Japanese anime. In fact let me quote the second paragraph in the story to give you a taste of what I'm talking about...

"Those upright chimneys, however, reminded Zhang Tie of his p*nis and the black smoke his seminal fluid. They polluted air like how the liquid polluted his underwear. Although he... more>> couldn't remember who was in his dream last night, for the third time this week, he could feel something sticky inside his underwear."

... that is in the introduction paragraph for our main character Zhang Tie.

No sh*t.

Aside from that, surprisingly this story does just about everything right. There is good worldbuilding in a steampunkish cultivation world. An interesting power system. The MC doesn't have everything given to him, and really has to work to distinguish himself. He has quite a few moments of real danger that he barely manages to scrape through with intelligence and instinct. No deus ex machina moments or ass pulls.

There is some great Hunter x Hunter exam type situations. The first being a semi-wilderness survival test after just entering the sect, that reminded me a little of Lord of the Flies. Behind the scenes there are political situations as various countries and organizations are in conflict with each other. There are no generic 'Young Master' style antagonists.

The big flaws that leave this with such a garbage rating aren't central to the story in any way. for example one situation that puts people off is

At one point out of nowhere Zhang Tie suddenly gets popular with the ladies despite being an awkward pervert. Then over the course of a couple of chapters he has s*x with hundreds and hundreds of women. It's the only time he even gets even a second glance within the first 400 odd chapters, and right after it's finished he goes to another sect to be the scrub newbie at the bottom of the barrel, and it's never really mentioned again.

These few chapters serve... just zero story purpose, and could quite easily be cut out

Honestly I love this story. It's got some of the absolute best and most interesting plotting and situations in the entire CN industry. Yet the author does his best to shoot himself in the foot, over things inessential to the actual story.

One commonly quoted reason for hating this (according to other reviews) is racism. Honestly, I don't see it. This isn't set on earth, he just sort of borrows bits and pieces from it, and none of the races and sects are explicitly stated to conform to any in our world. Just think of it this way. The author of this work has a small, almost miniscule penis. So he's overcompensating in the story to make the MC better than him in real life, including having slightly better talent because of genetics.

Easily the best story rated below 4* on the site. <<less

Surprisingly interesting.

On it's basic premise, it's a poor young boy who got a cultivation cheat, and his journey onward.
On a grander scale, it is a story of the battle between humanity and demonkind.

The boy would gain strength, treasures, skills, companions, lovers, and lose them as well, whether to his faults or his enemies. There are ups and downs to his journey. He is vulgar and sometimes contradictive, but his heart is -mostly- in the right place.

Most side-characters have some flavor to them, but they are still kind of shallow... more>> since the story has multitudes of side-characters.

Still, I like the fact that the MC shares the treasures and sometimes the skills he gets with his friends, lovers, family, and others he respects, sometimes elevating them to great ranks, instead of just getting things that the MC no longer needs. He jokes, he pranks, he laughs, he cries, and he even fights with his friends...

I love that more than just one or two named characters who are astonished by the MC's every action.

Oh, don't worry, the MC does still astonish people left and right, but mostly because of his cultivation speed as well as some of the treasures he gained, but overall, he still faces oppositions often, whether from people in authority above his, people with strength far above his, or simply through rumors and slander.

Despite the multitude of lovers, the MC does not get every girl he fancies. Time moves on, and old

Onto the cons, well, there are numerous characters, so some people gets left on the wayside, but old characters sometimes return in passing, or mentioned elsewhere.

The Chinese are better at everything was subtle at first, but then when the Eastern Continent starts to get introduced... Well, everything made by Chinese are just plain better, what? Still, it is Xianxia, and made by a Chinese author, I guess one can close an eye towards that.

Not that the other nationalities are degraded or anything, most of his friends and acquaintances from the starting city and the army are not Chinese, and some of them are even great. But when the East comes in... Well, the Chinese are simply better in cultivating, better in technology, better in being rich... Eh.

Well, that's about it. <<less
