I really feel compelled to address some of the poor reviews of this novel, because I have literally re-read this over and over and it's one of my absolute favorite web novels.

So, I have some experience with special education, and as a teacher I sometimes work with students who have mental disabilities. While I cannot say for sure what kind of mental disability he has (could be autism, could be an information processing disorder, could be fetal alcohol syndrome, or any number of other things; he exhibits traits that fall... more>> into a lot of categories, but that's neither here no there). Here's the thing people need to keep in mind: just because a person with a mental disability exhibits childish, or child-like behaviors, that does NOT mean they need to be treated like a child. Many individuals with mental disabilities are FULLY capable of entering into healthy adult romantic relationships. Although some behavior may be seen as childish, that is simply because their brains process things differently, and they may react to situations differently than a neurotypical person. So, stop infantilizing Meng Ting. He is an adult. He has lived two lives, and he is more than capable of making decisions for himself.

Regarding how Meng Ting always refers to himself as being s*upid, one trait of certain mental disabilities is that sometimes they heavily internalize certain information. Once an idea is cemented in their head, it can be very hard for them to get it out. Because Meng Ting grew up in an abusive environment where he was constantly bullied, called s*upid, and neglected, he internalized that idea of being s*upid. I've worked with students who do this (not necessarily believing they are s*upid, but internalizing certain ideas so heavily that they cannot accept alternative opinions). While it's sad that Meng Ting has this idea in his head, he is not actually s*upid and with enough love and care that idea will hopefully fade from his mind.

I want to state that I do not believe Meng Ting and Yan Sui's relationship is unhealthy. Meng Ting made a conscious and very deliberate decision to get married and be dependent on his spouse. He wanted that life because it was the option he felt was the safest for him and would allow him to live a happy life. Sometimes people with mental disabilities can become dependent on another person, and trying to force them to be independent can actually hurt their mental health. Meng Ting is not a child. He has made a decision to rely on Yan Sui and criticizing his decision is taking away his agency to make decisions for himself. Yan Sui is not taking advantage of Meng Ting either, and if you read the novel you will see that Meng Ting is usually the one taking the lead and moving the relationship forward.

So please, to anyone who is hesitating to read this novel, give it a chance! The relationship is so damn sweet, and the way Yan Sui wants to take care of Meng Ting and protect him from all the horrible things and people that hurt him in the past is amazing. Their relationship is free of the s*upid misunderstandings that plague so many web novels; Meng Ting's blunt honesty is so refreshing and the way the couple grows to love each other so deeply is amazing. I've read this novel so many times, and it's still one of my favorites. (The translators also do a fantastic job). <<less

The main couple is the fluffiest of all couple!

Spoiler

Both of them have tragic background, which explains their all-consuming loves.

Don't worry, while both their love is smooth sailing (a.k.a no ridiculous misunderstanding or jealousy and no hurting each other) the intriguing conflicts in their surroundings are enjoyable enough.

Just like Randomness said, the main couple is the fluffiest without much conflict. Well I just like this novel because I can read it with easy mind and laugh. And many of the chapter is about their sweet lovey dovey life that make other people that saw them feel depresed because it's too sweet and they're single. Hahaha

Spoiler

Meng Ting died because overworked in his previous life so in this second life he want to be a waste so he can have a good life with food and sleep. Even with his terrible experience when he's a kid (kidnapped, ab*se, almost r*ped, almost killed the rapist, bullying), Meng Ting still had a pure personality because his brain is a little slow to procces everything and just focus in food, sleep, negative emotions from his surrounding and of course the love from Yan Sui.

Meng Ting pure personality make Yan Sui fell in love and want to protect him. Yan Sui also had a bad experience when he's a kid that make him a cold person and just because Meng Ting he can smile and be gentle.

Beside them there's still side couple about Yan Sui father (actually still alive just hiding from the world with his lover after an accident) and Aunt (loving the person that just use her and waste her time). And when the story almost climax we will know that all of their misfortune (Yan Sui family and Meng Ting real family) is because of the same person.

65% fluff, 35% plot. Rate: 3

Spoiler

It's definitely not a bad novel, but at the same time not the best to me. If you love a load of fluff then be my guest. And btw the tags are wrong, there's no comedy in this novel and it's definitely yaoi with the amount of making out and s*x it describes. And here's why I think it belongs in middle section:

    • My main problem during the entire novel was MC's condition and emotional growth. In short, MC was mentally ab*sed since childhood, he was trafficked, later put into care of irresponsible gambling grandma, who sent him to school not in accordance with his education level, he thus was bullied a lot, sold him to an old dude for money, then sent him to school/establishment for behavior correction. When MC is reborn he is about to be taken back to his "loving" family, he still bears a load fo psychological shadows and his main trait is not that he is s*upid how he claims and not slow, but he's one-dimensional in his tasks, he's better with science than humanitarian, he's very blunt and short-sentensed in his speech. When ML figured these things out he actually contacted a specialist who gave load of literature and advised to broaden MC's world to improve his lifestyle and later apply therapy. In this situation I can't help, but blame ML, however kind and caring and loving he is what he's doing during entire is playing a vinegar jar too many times. What I especially didn't like is that these emtions are directed even at close family members. Mind you, MC is very perceiving towards these emotions and he became very dependant on ML, so he'd be very worried to be abandoned or misunderstood, which causes him emotional anguish. You hear time and time again - only you, only for you, only because of you. Which basically shrunk entire MC's world. I DON'T appreciate how this part was handled. Especially due to their plan, which happens at the later part of the novel. Now. Do you remember what doctor advised? I don't think anyone who should remember think of it;
    • My second problem was with the excessive amount of fluff. I'd like to note that at times those intimate scenes were really adding to their development in relationship and emotional growth of MC so he could feel stable. But it's just too much and too repetitive. At the end I started to skip those scenes entirely. To me it actually cheapens the romance and slows the story progress. Tbh the novel is only 100 chapters long, but chapters are immensely huge and also this filler water with romance or description of daily action (e.g. Waking up, going to bathroom, eating, watching tv etc.. This type of unnecessary information~) ;
    • Obvious flaws in storytelling. The reason I never shed a tear, despite some really dramatic things happening was because some things were really perfunctory. At times it really lacked depth and some motivation of characters is just thrown at you like 'yeah btw~'. Sure, things behind actions are messed up, but they are quite abrupt and sometimes, if you try to think logically, they don't really put well together. There's too many 'coincidental' stuff going on. And it's weird how these things appear only because MC and ML appeared, which I find weird, since not every head of a family a s*upid f*ck, they should notice and realize things. Also some accidental meeting were really from a fantasy isle. Some things were used as a plot twists several times, identical stuff but with different filling.

You might find it cute or anything you like, but I look from the perspective, which is not clouded with pink, but actually evaluating what characters do and how they connect to each other. Do I recommend? Not really. Only for people who don't really want to think too much while reading and are not against the huge amount of fluff.

This novel is still being translated but I already feel compelled to rate it, simply because I don´t think my opinion will change. I am sincerely shocked over the reviews and all the 5 stars here. How could anyone enjoy this? At the beginning I couldn´t help but feel very, very uncomfortable while reading it. It was mentioned at first that MC is s*upid, silly, dense etc but boy I didn´t expect his "s*upidity" to that extent. Simply put, he is born with intellectual disability despite it never being properly... more>> specified. He is clumsy, ret*rded, and innocent to the point you feel it´s not cute anymore, hence my 1 star. His intelligence level and innocence is comparable to a Down syndrome child. I suppose you could argue that his current mentality is due to his grandmother and the environment he grew up in. But that´s not valid because let´s not forget he was reborn and is actually 28 years old. Plus someone who suffers such a childhood trauma would have a more ruthless personality. Yet my 6 year old sister is smarter. And that´s why I felt disturbed reading this because MC is mental disabled child in a 17 year old body being taken advantage of by disgusting adults around him.

This novel was strange in many ways. It felt like the author was just writing her fantasy with nothing to back up the plot (I suppose she´s into shota?). First off, how is it possible for a young master from wealthy family to marry another man when there´s no mpreg in the setting? How would the family grow? Secondly all the characters are so shallow and horrible it´s unbelievable. Just by looking at his school results they already deemed him a `waste´, not giving him a chance. What if he has other talents? First 10 chapters I kept hoping somebody would save him, help him gain confidence and stop repeating "I´m useless and worthless" all the time like a mantra. Instead he was married away to a man 11 years older than him. The worst part is that he was completely satisfied, because then he´ll be able to eat and sleep as much as he wants. Is it so hard to draw a character with some dignity?

Yes the latter chapters are full of annoying fluff but I couldn´t help being disgusted. In the end he really was just a boy with no filters, his thought process that of a child always speaking his mind. Oh but hey, at least he´s physically strong so can defend himself and that´s enough to be treated as an adult and be married off despite still being a high school student-.-

This novel is so cute and full of sugar! <3

The MC died and re birthed and decided to get married off in order to escape his terrible family.... The ML is super caring and over protective especially after he finds out the mc's terrible childhood

There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of crazy villain types in this novel (they even give villain speaches lol) but its awesome to get to see their faces slapped by the main couple :D

translations are great but this story stopped having a plot since chapter 4. I feel bad for MC but nothing about him makes him sympathetic. He can’t take care of himself alone so he is not developed enough yet (and never will be) to make rational decisions. He has to me no character. As well: Usual stereotypes, rich boss, cute bottom, better looking than any movie star. The love decelerations got very fast annoying and over the top. Cringe Factor 9/10.

This really is the fluffiest of fluffy, both in term of the story itself or the couple.

The MC is the Meng silly type, usually I dislike this kind of MC (Lovable Package is an example) but in here, you couldn't help but feel fond of the MC. He is just so cute, and honest about his feelings. Yes he is guileless, and yet his mentality is strong, and not at all the easy-to-bully type.

ML is so sweet as well, the way he takes care of MC will make anyone green... more>> with envy, and yet there is no yandere tendency in his treatment towards MC (which is always a plus for me).

There are plenty of face slaps here, which is so funny at times lol. Anyway if you need some light and fluffy read, then this is your pick! <<less

As a neurodivergent person I am really impressed about Meng Ting character setting. I think writer must be have interaction with nd people or even her/his self. Because actually its really well matched with reality.

I saw many bad comments about character but I can tell from myself but mostly thinking pattern similar.

Meng Ting is not s*upid. Its people that make him think like that. And if you think his life experiences its totally understandable. People who on spectrum do not born with natural understanding of communication and interaction with... more>> people. They need to learn and for Meng Ting, he is even more unlucky about education and people him around. It look easy maybe for you but for me atleast its really hard to understand people thinking, choice, doing, a lot of things. Its hard to understand and at the some point its look meaningless too. Because even If I tried to understand can't. My brain not working that way so what. Problem is that why typical people waiting to understand their common sense from everyone. Description of adulthood not matching with everyone why they insist that everyone must to fit this word.

Anyway I dont think this novel for everyone but I can recommend who has interest with different way of thinking...

Couple is so lovey dovey. If you dont like a lot of fluff this novel not for you too. <<less

I don't mind naive/innocent characters all that much until it gets to the point where you make the character look like they're mentally ret*rded, which is exactly what I think the author did with the MC. He just got irritating because he acts like a 9 year old. It makes it extremely hard to read the romance because he acts like a child. I don't hate the story, but I don't like it either.

Fluffy but draggy.

I find MC's autistic character is interesting. Author took great pains to make him as pure as possible. ML is, in some way, even more pure than the MC since he fell in love so fast and so hard - they are in love at first sight. The problem is, author write too much about their lovey dovey interaction and there's hardly any conflict after so many chapters it gets really boring. And the way the author (or translator) wrote is not exciting enough or flowery enough to... more>> sustain it.

This is not bad of course, if you just want calm and fluffy story. <<less

It's a really cute rebirth story! The story is interesting, if somewhat predictable, and everything wraps up in a nice neat little bow of happy ever after, but that still doesn't take away the charm of the story. There's a running joke of the side characters basically getting cavities from the sickly sweet display of the main couple that's crazy accurate; after I finish this review, I need to book a check up with my dentist lol. No, but really, it's just plain sweet. The MC and his hubbie get... more>> along in a way that has you smiling as you read. It's a very unique spin on the typical rebirth novels so it's quite a nice change of pace.

There aren't many ups and downs emotion wise- even during the dramatic scenes, there's this pink colored fog that makes it hard to see anything other than how much the MC and ML love each other. But it's still a really nice and relaxing read. I also enjoy the fact that the author didn't put a cap on everything in the story- there are still a couple of characters with not completely resolved situations
Spoiler

ex: Yan auntie and her baby daddy or Meng Ting's fake "real" mom and her hubby that abandoned his French Yan family inheritance to be with her

that don't leave the story feeling unfinished, but allow the readers to imagine somethings on their own. Overall, I totally recommend this if you're looking for a nice relaxing read or your blood sugar is low. <<less

SO SO GOOD!! FLUFFIEST ONE!!

My god, the kiss scenes are especially well written, how to say, there are no vulgar words, but still they were described so romantically when they are happy, and painfully bittersweet when they were sad. Previously in Accidental mark and Reborn again in high school and forced to do business, I have read such pure romantic scenes. That kind with no R-rated words yet would make you blush hard.

ML and MC, Their love and trust in each other is really overwhelming, ML falls love at first... more>> sight, same can be go for MC too. They are really perfect for each other. The main focus is on Leads, their love and their journey.

The part that touched me the most is the last chapter 106. No matter what timeline, how much they lose, eventually they still found each other and fall for each other. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! <<less

I do not write reviews but I just had to.

While I understand MC has some form of disability, the constant "I'm s*upid/worthless/useless except for my fists" self talk, as mentioned by another reader in the comments, is very disheartening. I wish it could have been addressed sooner. MC is pure and blunt and I'm not against that but I had a hard time going along with the random kisses and make out scenes thrown in the mix every 3 paragraphs.

Spoiler

One moment they are sitting playing on a tablet/woke up from a nap and then start kissing and hey, kiss however much you want but it felt so disconnected from everything else. MC felt like it so he pushes ML on the couch and starts making out and random kisses are okay but I kept asking "what's the occasion?"

[collapse]

The random fluff and kisses acted like filler for a plot and there's too much of it. It just feels very slow (and it's not even a slow burn romance). The text overall is made up of simple sentences and doesn't give me any sense of urgency to read more or give the impression that something grand might happen. Coupled with the black-text-on-white-background on the translator site makes the novel even more bland (not the translator's fault at all, it's mainly the novel itself)

There have been no conflicts upto ch 22 and after reading other comments, I feel none will ever be. I'm not asking for misunderstandings, but I would like to see some conflict or desire to change where they grow more as individual characters.

There might be some character progression or maybe even a plot after ch22 but that's for other readers to find. I wanted to stay because of the smut tag but there's only so much senseless fluff I can handle. <<less

It’s nice to find something like this while still being in a Modern Ch*na setting. The fluff content is really soothing for my dog-blood-battered heart. I like how the drama is not the usual crazy face-slapping level that novels in this setting usually are, and it’s really comforting that the main CP exemplified “communication is the key to a harmonious relationship” thereby avoiding the overly-cliched pitfalls that most CP’s fall into.

A lot of people might dislike how the MC has a slight disability, which translates to him seeming like he’s... more>> dumb, but I feel that it’s actually quite novel. It’s a reborn MC who’s not out for revenge and not interested in face-slapping dog blood shenanigans, instead he’s a bit of a hurt but honest cinnamon roll, who’s thankfully not a wilting flower or a typically damsel-in-distress type because he can actually fight (physically anyway).

Hopefully, this continues to be translated, it’s been a while and it cut off at a funny cliffhanger
Spoiler

Yan Sui just caught Meng Ting in a skirt. And supposedly Meng Ting looked like a “Zhou” person, but the important part is still the skirt!

It's a novel in which the main couples fluffiness covers up a lot of the cruel and complex backstory.

That's just how the writing style is and it's very good in it's own way.

As for the bad reviews, they all are just too fixtated on what they presume is the most correct way to sucess. U must understand that sometimes u being happy is the most successful thing in life and not societies judgement on what ur 'full' potential is.

This novel is very good. It's full of sweetness and fluffiness. ? My tooth aches while reading this. Sooo sweet. ? ? I laugh, I cried and I fell in love with the MC.

How he remained pure and innocent whilst he experienced a tragic past.

My heart ached upon learning the past of MC.

The ML was really protective over MC. He was not afraid to show the world that he loved him.

As for the plot itself, this story is actually 8/10 or maybe 9/10.

The only thing that makes me uncomfortable when reading this story is how the author adds smut scenes in almost every chapter.

Like come on, I understand if the author wants to make the two main couple looks like a very cute and lovey dovey couple, but the execution itself is very bad.

... more>> This is because the smut scene keeps repeating in almost every chapter which finally makes the reader who read it feels bored...

Personally I always skip the story when I enter certain scenes (smut scenes) which make the pleasure of reading this story greatly reduced.

I mean if this is was a kind of H novel then there's no problem with a full smut scenes things... But the problem is, this novel it's not that kind of novel.

Even if you wanted to make this novel into a kind of brainless novel or H novel whose the main character only relate to s*x all the time, it still wouldn't work either because the rhythm that this novel owned was very different with H and brainless novel. <<less
