The end of the world came, the land was barren and food was scarce. The nightmare beasts destroyed the earth and hunted the living. Living had become the luxury of all things. And when the world fell into the abyss of despair, a miracle suddenly appeared.

The messenger generously rescued the living creatures, hunted the nightmare beasts, and established the last pure land in the last days.

Humans called it – the city of hope. — The socially anxious He Fang had been in his house for three years, and his daily business was to eat, sleep and play games.

One day He Fang suddenly went out and found that there were very few people on the street, and all were handsome men and women.

Suddenly a ragged beggar rushed out, hugged his leg and cried: “Lord, please let me stay.”

Socially Anxious He Fang didn’t know what to do, and hastily pulled up the kneeling beggar and fled the scene of the crime. Behind him, the beggar looked at He Fang’s departing back, he was touched by the Creator, it was like getting purified. The crowd looked at the beggar with envy and jealousy. “Lucky guy, to have gotten the Creator’s mercy!”

“Let him work for me, with him, maybe I’ll have a chance to get the Creator’s gaze.”

Back in the house He Fang cried and ordered a milk tea to comfort his wounded heart.

The Main Lord had mercy on the world, accepting the humble to worship and harvest faith. However, the perfect Main Lord wore a yellow takeaway uniform when no one was around, and his fierce beast became a small tram. The takeaway car with two small wheels ran fast to deliver to the creator.

The Main Lord looked in the rearview mirror, combing his long blonde hair, as he worriedly asked the beast: do I look good today? Can I attract the Creator and start a delivery boy love story?

A few moments later he returned, filled with disappointment: he didn’t see me, he asked me to put the take-out outside again ooooooooooooooo.

— He Fang opened the infrastructure game he had been playing for three years — the doomsday city-building.

The statue of the main lord within the game was crying.

He Fang: “Is this some kind of quest? Is there another disaster somewhere? Or did the nightmare beasts attack the humans again?”

Mandatory quest: comfort the weeping Lord (please offer your precious kiss to soothe the Main Lord).

He Fang climbed up to the huge statue, stood on its shoulder, put his hands on its cheeks and kissed the corners of its eyes.

This isn't your standard low-effort „this game isn't actually a game" novel that has been popular for a while.

The worldbuilding is extensive, consistent, and logical, most of all, it stays true to its internal logic instead of collapsing halfway through.

You can clearly see that the writer had a detailed plan for both the worldbuilding and story, the pacing and distribution of crisis & resolution and downtimes is on point, there are no dulls nor overly long passages of action.

It is somewhat dialogue heavy but never just to fill the page,... more>> everything said has value and adds to the story or setting.

Characters are diverse, very detailed, and have obvious but steady development, they live a life outside of MC's presence that might or might not be relevant to him.
They are people you'll come to truly like and take an interest in.

MC is truly special.
Socially inept to the point of hikikomori lifestyle, deeply afraid of people, and not beautiful.
He's average looking, much worse than most of the other characters, apart from his player ability to purify land/build a city, he's so ordinary that he wouldn't even be a side-character in other webnovels.
I really loved that.

Some points that could be cons to some people:

The writer doesn't often repeat established information, they expect you to remember what you read, even the small hints.

The CP doesn't do the story justice.
ML really isn't developed enough to be the ML, other characters have a better chemistry with MC and are much more detailed than he is.
He's only in a handful of chapters as a new "friend" of MC but the screentime isn't worth mentioning and the romance happens in the last paragraph of the novel.
We learn basically nothing about him, he stays a complete stranger.

Spoiler

I'm 100% sure the novel would have been better with Zhu Yan, one of the central side-characters, as the ML. He has outstanding development, distinct character, and amazing chemistry with MC.

[collapse]

The good (or bad) thing, is that the novel really isn't a Danmei, it's just a proper novel.
There is no romance except for the last few sentences of the whole novel, it isn't even clear if MC likes ML romantically, so the CP being bad doesn't really matter.

Worldbuilding and story progression can be overwhelming if you just want to relax, it isn't a leisurely read for the bored but a serious novel (even if the synopsis doesn't sound like that).

Chapters are LONG, twice to third times as longs as most webnovels, so not a quick read.

Truly an enjoyable read. <<less

I actually like this novel quite a bit. But because I'm not in the mood for this kind of slow-paced, infrastructure novel, I ended up losing interest T.T This novel is very chill, there's a bit of mystery in the background to keep the tension high but the conflicts are minimal and usually very simply resolved so the reading experience feels very laidback. It's worth reading because of the attention to detail when it comes to setting up the world — which seems to come alive under the author's renditioning... more>> ~ It's true that it's a bit slow, it feels like very little has actually happened. But it gives you the chance to know the characters, all of whom are unique and lively!

What I was most surprised about when reading was the premise. I actually didn't read the summary clearly before starting XD (hence why I ended up gettinginto it with wrong expectations). It's very interesting!

_______

SUMMARY — The MC is a socially inept gamer who has locked himself up in an apartment for three years. He rarely goes outside and hasn't made true contact with any people since he shut himself in. All of his food and necessities are delivered straight to his door, and even when he posts his gaming content online for his audience, he doesn't actually interact with them. So yeh. All in all, he's a complete hermit.

The story begins after an unusual bug appears in his favorite infrastructure game. This game was stand-alone at first but had recently been updated to be an online game with a virtual reality pod. He can go into the game himself as the "Creator" of the territory. Of course, because of his social fear and his thinking that everyone around is an NPC, he doesn't really interact with people much on the game side either. Dealing with the bug NPC that suddenly walked into his territory seemed to be his first real direct encounter. And this encounter ended up opening up a whole can of worms.

He found out that the game he was playing was not actually a simple infrastructure game. There's a world beyond his territory where people were suffering from the invasion of alien species that parasitized everything (from humans, to plants, to animals, and even minerals and other non-living things used by people). Now that the bug has been introduced into his territory, the storyline of the outside world has officially opened.

Perhaps the MC could have proceeded onwards like before. Working as the Creator that controlled everything beyond the screen, but as the MC got to know more and more of the NPCs of the game, he began to rely on them unknowingly. And, together, they work tirelessly to explore and conquer the territories outside.

(As for the ML, my guess is that he's the "Holy Lord". He seems to have a connection with the MC's world — not just through the game world. But the details have yet to be revealed.) <<less

Story starts w a city in the middle of a deadly forest. The leader or 'creator' is MC. All citizens of the city are aware of being 'npcs'. One day, a man stumbled upon the city. MC learns more about the 'games lore'

Pros:

Can't stand being social MC n citizens who worship MC. Lmaooo they truly love MC. They are much more than what meets the eye ... more>>
Spoiler

the citizens are actually 'npcs' from previous failed 'game'. It can't be said to be a game but more like a smaller world

[collapse]

MC has a nice personality, kind hearted but not s*upid. Some chara development into being more leader-like

Basically MC is the saviour of the world. MC conquers the world n find out about the world's secret. It's more of an infrastructure less romance

Cons:

We don't get much about MC's past. All we know is that he got no friends, a low tier gamer, bad relationship w parents etc.

The romance is truly lacking. Don't read this if you're looking for romance

All in all, a splendid read. Never been as interested in infrastructure novels before this one. Sure I've read some but this is one of the best atm. <<less
