I don't really find her *that* hateable before or after she went abroad. She was indeed shameless in hoping that our MC would solve all her problems but taking it for granted, however she doesn't really do anything or scheme an elaborate play to deceive someone. She is just annoying at most, but mostly I pity her life experience. Her childhood and current life at home isn't good (being suppressed by stepmom and step sister) and the og!MC keep shielding her, therefore she had come to depend on him.

However, the fact that she wants MC to protect her unconditionally but taking it for granted is quite annoying. She depends on him, I get it, afterall her life experiences isn't easy. But, his help is based on his willingness, not duty. She kept pestering MC to help her after their engagement broke, hoping the same unconditional help treatment, while turning a blind eye to MC and gossips about him being a spare tire. He has shielded her for 20 years, can't she spare some feelings and brain to think about the consequences for him? Breaking the engagement because she had come to love someone is understandable, but hoping to enjoy the benefits even as ex- fiancee and not caring about people gossiping her supposed savior is shameless. And she revels in the gossip of her being enviable and all because rich capable men chase after her. She isn't really a bad person though. She actually ran to MC to warn him because og!ML was plotting against him, which means that at least she knows that MC has been kind to her. (Though unmentioned in the story, she doesn't seem to ask for luxurious clothes or something to MC).

The only instance where I can feel my hand itch for slapping her is when she "admits" that MC is the father or her child. I was so pissed at that. She could, without burden, slap a third-person label on our MC, supposedly her only protector and shield for 20 effin years, where he would even imp**gnate someone in a relationship. That was f*ckin shameless, she isn't even worried that her claim would smear MC' s reputation, it wasn't even a consideration. But no she is so so so afraid that her child would be taken away from her and had a bad childhood.

Her reason is valid indeed, the child may not have the happy carefree childhood in the Ruan family, but I don't think she has the capability to support the child herself, even in her sane state, and why would MC have to help her. The thing is, she was enjoying life abroad on ML's expenses right (even in og!timeline everything was paid and arranged by og!MC, he even became the effin adopted father/godfather), everything has been arranged for her. However, If she lose all that support, can she really brought the child up to be happy, not to mention she have no experience raising child (a still premature baby at that) and working at the same time. Well, I supposed she wouldn't think she had lost all support since she still has "Hao gege" aka our portable-anytime-anywhere-help-button-and-wallet MC :))). Her not being afraid of hardship (in that moment) and love for her son is commendable though.

Her after she went back from abroad and went insane and had post-partum depression is pitiful though. And honestly, I don't quite get how she could even hire someone for the arson. Where would she get the money and channel to contact and hire these people? Would the money from og!ML be enough to hire them? This plot point to me is just the author wanting to cut any possibilities for her to have another chance.

The worst character is none other than Xu Chenghao. I seriously regret on the behalf of the author who wrote such a good plot plus okayish story but because of an immature tantrum throwing piece of sh*t ruined it for me. For a short example when the ML was taken away and reappeared but what was MC's reaction????? Let him deal with the annoying pest and leave him behind to show his spoiling angry bratty nature (cuz he knew he will be following after him like a good trained dog anyway and seriously he was the one who trained him with rewards and chilli pepper punishment so confidence speaks in this matter) why did you leave him in the first place not even bothering to ask anything if it was serious or not, if he disappeared on his own or someone's else was behind it (I suppose if it's not for the ML going after him and making him forcefully listen he would have continued his bratty attitude)... just because he happens to know the book plot that express the nature of ML's profession on the surface even if it's not in deeply. I actually ended up liking other supporting characters 😂😂
