there are 13 arcs in this story and of them, there are two I would rate a 4, one I would rate a 3.5, and three that I would rate at a 2, the rest are all in the middle, being neither good nor bad. most of the arcs in this novel have very little connection and could be read more like a series of short stories where the MCs have the same name but different personalities. The novel actually ends in chapter 260 (the initial ending is only 1 chapter) and the hundred or so chapters after that are all extras (revisits to arc worlds and easter eggs). Most of the 'eggs' are basically other arcs and the 4th one was particularly sweet. Then comes the postscript

c334 postscript. Major spoiler
Spoiler

the MC immerses himself completely in the character for each world to the point where he has no outside personality, especially towards the end, and considers them all to be different, equally valid versions of himself. The ML is a different person in each world and not the usual split souls or hidden god, despite the fact that most of them behave very similar to one another with a couple of exceptions.

none of that matters in the end because "everything is just a story" and the MC only exists inside the book the writer created. As a conclusion to a story, it's just as bad as those stories that use the "it was all just a dream" ending.

I will admit to being disappointed; I feel like I wasted a lot of time reading and trying to figure out the motivation of the MC and search out the overarching plot only to find out there was none. There's no motivation, no reason, and no bigger plot; there is no payoff for the reader, no MC gaining a reward after working his *ss off, no getting together with the ML. There's not even an evil lord god to defeat (there is a god, he's just not evil). All that exists is endlessly hopping from one world to the next and one target to the next with no actual meaning. My final thought was "ah, so this whole story really was pointless."

I won't be rereading this one.

[collapse]

here is most of my original review:

Spoiler

there are very few clues as to the MCs real personality because he takes on the main characteristics and personality of the body he inhabits in each world; i.e. Gloomy, foolish, clever, shy etc. There is no place to show us his own personality, talents, or interests and there's nothing to help link the journey from world to world; no end goal or driving reason for the MC to be doing what he's doing. It feels a little pointless sometimes.

and there is nothing to make me think the ML might be the same person other than the fact that his personality remains mostly consistent. Atm, I'm assuming they are all one person because that is normally how it goes in these novels.

as for character descriptions, there is no physical description. The only thing we know about the MC is that he is beautiful and can't remember his life before the system, though he remembers that he was gay before. The only thing we know about the ML is that he is tall, handsome, and somewhat possessive. That is literally the only description given for either of them, not even hair or eye color is mentioned for any arc, though the MC eyes are sometimes described as clear and shining like stars. It's all very vague.

I don't even know if each body is similar to their own looks or completely different from body to body but with the lack of description they all seem to be mostly the same, minus some scars or other marks and a bit of variation in height.

there's not much to the world-building or characterization so each world is kind of vague and fuzzy. All the female protagonists are green tea b*tches and family members and friends are fairly shallow most of the time, though one or two stand out a little in my mind.

I saw people saying that the MC "has many personalities" that "there is no connection in the worlds" that "does not have a lot of history" but I rate this story as gratifying. My points are:
1- I see this a lot in system / transmigration stories but I never see any being really an "actor" like the MC in that story, here he plays completely and the character he has to be
2- as mls are different people there are people who don't like it but it makes the romance more interesting since it is a new experience every time
3- ok, the stories of each arc are not very deep but this does not prevent the feeling of chicken soup for the soul

If you want something uncomplicated, just a bl novel with a variety of stories is worth reading this story and when you don't like a bow and just jump to another one because it doesn't hinder your reading and I really like this option

This... I dropped this novel after reading the first arc. I noticed that I have actually read the manhua version of this one and dropped that one, too, albeit a bit later in the plot. But the reasons for dropping the novel remain the same as for when I decides to drop the manhua.

First of all, there is basically no real world building. You are just thrown into each arc with minimal explanation of the plot and no time to get familiar with the MC's or anyone else's personality. So... more>> there is no bonding experience between reader and novel character.

Second, this novel reads like the author was too lazy to write their own story. The plot is simple and clichée and and plot points are skipped or summarized in a lackadaisical way which again, makes it hard to immerse oneself into the plot. I thought the manhua was bad already in this regard, but it seemed like it just followed the novel so I can't really blame the manhua artist there.

Third and last, the characters remained 2D throughout the first arc. Same with the second arc in the manhua. All emotions felt fake or shallow. It's like watching a student with no acting and no real life experience try to depict an emotional drama in literature class. Cringey af and they would only be passing because the teacher is nice and had no high expectations to begin with.

Maybe, by some miracle it gets better in the later arcs. Who knows? I at least don't since I have, as already mentioned, dropped the manhua and novel. But then again, I doubt the novel will experience a sudden leap in quality unless there is a change in authors or the author took a creative writing class in between.

I will stop my rant here. Some of you will understand my complaints and others might think I am too picky. Maybe I am just in a mood to complain or maybe I am just biased since I just finished reading a novel with good world-building that the contrast between the two novels left me thirsting for blood.

Either way, if you decide to read this novel, it would be better to prepare yourself. Turn off your brain and lower your standards. Maybe, you will be able to enjoy this novel more than I did.

(Wow, I sound like a b****... I am not, I swear.) <<less

I actually read the Manhua before finding out about the novel.

Obviously though, the novel would have more details than the Manhua. Still fast-paced as the Manhua.

Yaps, shallow without a brain. There is no plot and the characters are just jumping around. There is no pleasure, no sweetness and no sadness. Everything is flat, without involving emotion. Very unreasonable, suddenly the pleasure jumped> jealousy> forced kiss> amnesia> run away> chased> forced kiss> together back. Huh, what a shame, even though I wanted the MC to flirt with a boy with brown hair. And it's very unclear how can FL injure ML? Whereas FL is just an ordinary person without status but yes this is purely brainless... more>> so anything can be done. I don't like the world of transmigration where the shou with the description is so pretty, reminds me of Zhou Younseng. And why are the chapters so long that they are 300? In fact, if the first world is tidied up, it will not reach 6 chapters. <<less

I finished the first arc and started the second. Based on the first arc's impressions, the pacing is a bit wrong to me. A bit too rushed, like the author couldn't wait to further the plot and then finish writing. It almost feels like it's summarized with some dialogue thrown in, instead of the plot calmly unfolding and drawing you in. Love happens too fast, which I can excuse. Major confrontations are omitted and some important things to the plot happen behind the MC's (and the readers') back. It's just... more>> really strange to read, and you can tell the author is a bit inexperienced.

That said, it's still interesting to read, and there's hope that the author will improve with later chapters. I wouldn't rate this very high, but I'll give it a chance. <<less

This is so s*upid. I don't even know how to describe it really because it's so ridiculous. I thought that I would give it a chance since some reviews were saying how bad it was, but I should have listened. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't waste your time reading.

The MC is so annoying. I really can't stand him.

-1/10 would NOT recommend.

Very fast-paced but actually nice. Somehow, the writing flows smoothly despite the story being told and progressing in just one or two paragraphs.

I have no idea why, but I don't dislike it. I am quite critical when it comes to rating a novel, and this novel has a lot of stuff that I would dislike in others (very fast-paced, incomplete characters, lack of world-building, skipping major developments), but it somehow manages to make the leads beautiful and makes me root for them. How is even possible? I have no idea,... more>> I'm equally as baffled. Doesn't deserve 3.3, I'd say around 4 would be fine. I have no idea why I like this, I just do. Definitely has something to do with the translator, great job. <<less

Yes, I admit that this novel lacks conflicts so I almost dropped it. But when I continue, the story in every arc interests me. Yes, they may start as a cliche plot however, it may not go as what you are thinking.

The only dissapointment is that there is no fixed ML. Otherwise, I love it.

Don't know what I was expecting.

The main character, male lead (s), and arc plot are very shallow and underdeveloped. Like others said in the reviews, there is no way to develop any sort of emotional connections to any of the characters because by the time you begin to feel some development, that arc is already finished.

The way that male leads fall for the MC is nothing short of pulling something out of of thin air. Extremely unbelievable and not even gratifying.

I also noticed the misogynistic undertones of the novel and... more>> was just completely fed up by the end of the beastman arc. So, I don't recommend anyone to read it. <<less

This was a pretty good mid-tier QT. Giving it the full rating because I kind of feel bad it's rated so low (and I kinda want the translations to keep going).

It's a QT that's taking the word "quick" very seriously lol. Which I don't really mind since I'm in the mood for it.

Man I read the manhua of this FAITHFULLY. Followed its updates for a good 2 years, and no, its not because the story was sooo good but it was great to pass time with and its satisfying enough (plus it was the only BL QT webtoon/manhua out there at the time). Same goes for its novel.

I never knew it actually had a novel even after following it for so long. I honestly thought it was an original manhua because of how the story and that art were--... never mind.

I like it and due to its simplicity its quite an easy read. Some arc feels like they had been inspired by some other quick transmigrations stories (that I cannot remember titles- it could be one of quick transmigration face of a devil or something similar) with some plot details changed.

Spoiler

Like the first arc in student council (i vaguely remember a story that was almost identical just slightly more detailed that ended with both ML and FL having full admiration of MC and him faking ilness and leaving the world), the bestman world (similar plot with MC being found day before, ape woman and the shared winter cave, I remember that story was a little longer on the winter part and the ape woman was returned to ape tribe) and the mermaid arc (also similar story with blackening protagonist, I remember that in the other one he also married a saint, then the MC marmaid was cought and he eloped with him- this one is still on the table to be seen if there are more similarities.)

All it all it is a nice read even if having flashbacks to similar stories. <<less

I'm genuinely confused when it came to the end but each arch in itself is a good story. It doesn't feel like one person though. Its like different stories completely and it has nothing to do with acting. If you want to read short stories with each arc having nothing to do with each other this is the one.

Manhua: supporting actor's survival game.

The manhua is quite faithful to the novel, initially I did not like the manhua version very much because the plot had many holes, in fact from the first chapter I did not understand if it was the first chapter or the publisher had lost some chapters, but reading the novel it seems is quite faithful, except that the feelings of the ML are described in the novel and in the manhua no, but otherwise it is very similar.

The story itself I can't say I liked... more>> it very much, of all the transmigration novels I've read it's not one of the best, but not that bad either, but... <<less

It's perfect if you don't wanna waste time and reach the main point of the story faster.

*spoiler alert*

It's like episodic, every arc are not related to each other. The MC forgets everything when he goes to the next world and perfectly integrates to the personality of the character he's in. The only difference between the original character and the MC is that they made different decisions in life which leads MC into a happy ending and also falls in love with the ML.

The ending is a bit in a rush... more>> for me. I don't really know if the MLs are one person or multiple people, but I think the MLs are different people. The god who controls the headquarters of the system and also its creator only said that he could go back to one world, hence the ML should be different in each world. Anyways, I think the endings are just extras to give us closure. I would have liked it if it were longer.

One thing that I hate the most is the lack of smut T^T, but it's fine.

All in all, just read it. <<less

Well, I think the author wrote this novel with the mind of quick quick transmigration lololol get it? XD

It's like... The author skipped writing about the usual boring buildup parts of QT novels and condensed each arcs to the main plot. So if what you learnt in Language Class about the structure of a story is Character Introduction, Setting Introduction, Plot, Conflict and Resolution, the author skipped the first two parts of the structure and went off straight to the core of the story.

It's a pity that many reviewers rated... more>> this so low, because this novel is actually a good option for those who are tired of reading buildups or QT arcs that spanned 20-30 chapters.

I think that this novel is quite revolutionary because it's so different from the usual QTs I read. I get that many people would get a whiplash about not being able to bond with the characters and the settings but don't you think that the characters and settings in this novel are already familiar to you?

Yep, that's because the arcs in this novel are already written dozens of times by many QT authors and what makes this novel different is that it speedruns towards the core part of the arc. The author's storytelling got better at arc 2... But their skill is wrapping up the ending is questionable at best. Thankfully, they added an extra chapter after the end of each arc, so readers wouldn't be left in the dark too much.

If that doesn't convince you to read this novel, just think of this unique QT novel as a series of short story or movies 🤣

I also thought about the problems that people complained about MC having so many facets of different personalities, about how too skillfully he wound through the plot, and about how it seemed like there's no end goal in sight.

My theory is: what if the system isolated his memories and real personality from the QT so he wouldn't lose himself?

I wouldn't recommend this novel for readers who are new to the QT genre but I'd rec this to people who are familiar with it and are tired of reading expositions. I already liked how short the chapters are for a quick bite of QT fast food (and also because I don't have to spend extra time on reading the already familiar arcs)

Just my ten cents, though. Happy reading~ <<less

I read it from manhua first. I havent read this novel yet but the manhua is good. You can just take it as a movie where the MC is the actor. Its quite good. Im ok with the fast face just right. I will be reading this novel later but after a few more chapter is translated. MTL is kind of braincell killer lol. So when there enough chapter. Read the novel. Theres no love interest in real life at chapter 268 but theres still a hundred more chapter I... more>> didnt read. Give the manga and novel a chance. Its quite entertaining. Its quite good cause it got me hook when I only say I read just one arc I almost read to the end if there an update. Too bad im left with a cliff hanger. Lol

5 star ❤️

Like I said each arc is independed. A little different from normal one which theres only one ML throughout. Its like a movie I repeat the MC is like an actor. Its not bad. Quite entertaining give it a try. <<less
