Three stars so far because of the numerous errors. This passage, for example (contains no spoilers) :

Suddenly, let him returned to the time when he was at the peak, he still very uncomfortable.

Minneapolis had a lot of snow. A snow covered everything to be a vast expanse of white.

... more>> It should be 'let him return', 'he still felt', and 'Snow covered everything in a vast expanse of white'.

I don't think the translator speaks English as their first language, so I'd recommend getting an editor. The story is still understandable, but even the best plot in the world would suffer if the translation has too many errors. <<less

The story is okay I like the MC's personality and I'm only reading this due to him. He doesn't hold grudge and even helps those annoying villian. But he isn't a Mary Sue type, he'scalm, deep and patient. Most notably, he is professional in acting. Btw, his age is around 27y/o (current age is 20 + 7yrs in entertainment in the past). But according to MC, he's actually a bit older (registered in hukuo late). I thought that ML is a gentleman yet he is no different from the overbearing president trope.

The ML keeps changing his attitude. There are times that he respect MC's wishes and times in which he is too forceful, like a horse with carrot in front. What I hate about him is taking advantage of MC during the film (ML only wanted to remove the explicit scenes after eating the MC's tofu).

The one thing I love most in this novel is the way that the acting scenarios and descriptions, particularly in the first featured filmed, was very detailed and vivid under the author's writing. It was really interesting to witness how the main characters interact, act, and fall in love with each other (although one realized it later than the other) while filming that movie.

I also love the protagonist's character. He is gentle, kind and tolerant — in fact, he is too tolerant in early chapters (a trait that is likely... more>> to be swallowed and taken advantage of in the entertainment circle). There wasn't much details put in his life before rebirth,

except that he faded out of fame and later became an editor (specifically, a video editor, if I grasped the raws well)

but I assumed that he died young (maybe around 20's or something) since he doesn't seem to have a mature or wise character tempered with time. The MC is undoubtedly a very talented actor-- and director! Meanwhile, the ML is like the typical, well, male lead in entertainment circle novels. Nope, he's not a company president (well, not yet) but a rather very, very wealthy second-generation (the competent type) who likes to dote and spoil the MC with affections and well, wealth. He's a straightforward and intelligent man of few words. I find it amusing that he's the fashionable type who cares a lot about aesthetics and fashion right after his concern for cleanliness.

I think the MC's biggest character development is the moment he decided to transition from an actor to director, which is also a means to pave the way for his coming out. He was very determined and decisive in this matter that it took me by surprise and got me thinking, "oh, my boy's growing up".

The story is a light read. There isn't much drama. Pretty smooth as well. MC and ML have pretty consistent characters (MC suddenly doesn't become cold blooded/have personality change after rebirth). Only reason I gave this a 4star is cause of the lack of depth in the side characters. Like

Song Ke : The senior actor who Initially helped MC from being a stand-in to be a actor. He disappears after the reality show. He isn't even mentioned for MC's marriage.

Qiu Ming: investor friend of ml. He goes missing as well.

The... more>> question. Does knife actually come out of closet again? How does master and madam react to it?
etc.

how was ML initially even convinced to take roles. I mean after rebirth. MC's name was used to make him do the films.

I had mtled. So my understanding might have been wrong because of translation problems.
Either way, looking forward to rereading the story again after complete translation. <<less

A Story about MC who have been reborn and tried to change certains things with his new life such as acting on a gay movie that he rejected on his last life.
Personal opinion: I think the author should have made 4 characters like deep in the act -2 MC and 2ML for the acting and for the script bc personally I find the script itself very very interesting. Or she should've even made the script her novel sighhh* but anyway let's back to the book....

I like MC Zhuang Qin, he good matured and simple guy. He only accepted the gay movie this time because it was successful in his life however..

In this new life, things started to change after he tried to prevent the death of one of his relatives (or adoptif) in the US. Some of these things are:
1. He met ML in the US.

2. The Ambiguous/kiss scenes who were supposed to be deleted got retained.

I haven't gone or read that far but..
so far overall it's quite good! Definitely recommend! I read with raws, some things got missed so thanks for the translator for picking this up and Hope she will continue to translate.

Hmm, the story is alright but it's not my favorite.

The novel begins with our MC, Zhuang Qin, who has traveled to Minnesota to spend time with his adoptive family for the New year. It is then revealed that he has gone back in time to when he was 17. He then crashes into the ML, Li Mu, on a ski mountain. Their story then begins from there.

In the beginning, the MC is introduced to be very calm, collected, and somewhat assertive with the things he wants. He is very kind,... more>> conservative, and obedient. He resembles a pure innocent boy.

However, I think that's where I had a problem. He's too tolerant, too obedient, and too innocent. I mean, hes like this in his "past life" and it was because he really, really wanted to act (he was willing to listen to arrangements w/o fighting back), but even when he went back to 17 he's still the same.

Sure, his obedience became slightly disobedient as he went against the wishes of his agent and the company, but he's still very tolerant even when he doesn't need to be.

I guess that's a good thing because the author is consistent with his personality.

That aside, I also just...I just feel it's quite unrealistic for a 27+ year old man to be in a daze and passively let someone "coax" you to jerk them off :/

He's so emotionally dense it hurts. Plus, he has no one to talk to about his situation and has been emotionally cut off because of the death scandal in his "past life".

That's another point that makes me want to pull out my hair because I can't blame him for being a dunce.

As for the ML, well, he's like a lot of overbearing ML archetypes so I don't have much to comment other than 1) conveniently super rich, 2) Cold and handsome, and 3) super smart and also lacks romantic experience.

Nonetheless, the story is good to read. A bit different but a good way to pass time. Characters are consistent and have depth because of relationship dynamics. Plot focuses of the relationship of the leads and MC's development. Drama is minimial as MC helps those who were against him in his "past life". Ending is happy.

Overall, a good read with danmei BL archetypes having more depth.

So confused on how MC didn't know there would be explicit scenes in 'Hidden Heart' even tho he 'supposedly' read the script the director gave him that had 'coffee stains' and a bit 'yellowish' (signs it has been read) after he went back in the past.

Also, I find it a bit s*upid to believe everything will be the same when it comes to the entertainment industry, nothing is set in stone, even if you go back into the past.

I like MC but I also agree with one reviewer about pure... more>> MCs and MLs that have never been in a relation ship before get together. Even I think first timers can be mature about a relationship (despite being inexperienced) but how do you always kiss someone until they're swollen? 🥴😶 Sometimes I think some BL authors don't know how to write an actual kiss, or all they care about is making the scene look as hot and steamy as possible 🤷‍♀️ <<less

the story is not too bad so far, though it certainly has its faults. I liked the way the rebirth is handled, and the fact that he is not suddenly a genius at anything and knows he still has a lot to learn as far as acting is concerned. to the point where the ML actually wonders if he might have been abused and bullied as a child in the troupe that adopted him. He flinches from fans, he flinches from the press, he flinches from unexpected knocks at the door, etc.

the ML has the usual ML characteristics and his misunderstandings about the MC actions at the start are kind of funny at times. He's a germaphobe and a bit OCD, just like every other ML being translated at the moment, so he's never touched another human before the MC and meets the "pure" requirement. The MC is an innocent, despite his life experiences, and is pure as snow before the ML came along, just like every other MC out there

Can you tell I'm super burnt out on this very repetitive dynamic?

give me an MC or an ML who has at least kissed another person before and doesn't try to chew on the others' face and kiss them so hard and messily that their lips get all red and swollen for hours afterward (I'm not a fan of pain so biting my lips would immediately stop all forward progress, and the other person would end up with a black eye or bruised rib. It's right up there on my no-no list along with n*pple pinching. Ouch).

also, the MC does the usual downgrade from independent adult to a child with a very low IQ/EQ that the ML has to take care of, which is why my score in my notes is a 3 and not a 4 right now.

This novel had one of the most frustrating MCs to read about imo. But despite being constantly exasperated because of him it is also hard to dislike him. That's because he is kind and hard-working, traits that make him likeable. He is also tolerant, too tolerant imo to the degree that people often don't take him seriously and bully him, basically treating him like a soft persimmon. His soft temper is what infuriates me as I'm not one who deals with other people's bullsh*t.

However, I do understand that he... more>> is this way because of his past, having been abandoned and picked up and raised by a strict master who would punish him for little mistakes. Always being in a position where he had no power and others could push him around had taught him to endure unfair treatment. Luckily, after meeting the ML he learned to resist and be more courageous even if not by much. It's not like he did a sudden 180 and kicked ass. But he did eventually learn to speak up since the ML is there to back him up.

Apropos ML, I feel really sorry for him at times. First, he kept on misunderstanding the MC's ambiguous actions for romantic interest and caught feelings along the way. After setting things straight and confessing he was strung along by the wishy-washy MC who did not know whether his feelings were affected by the acting or not. Then after they got together the MC still held the ML at arms length because of his trust and abandonment issues. And when that was resolved the MC often ignored/neglected the ML because of work. No wonder almost all interactions between them was initiated by the ML. Poor guy. The MC is just really hard to date. I would have given up long ago if I was in the position of the ML.

The plot itself was fine. I really liked the storyline of the first movie and how some scenes were highlighted. One thing, however, remains incomprehensible for me and that is why he was blamed and treated like a mu*derer in his past life when all he did was take a break because of a family emergency. He wasn't the one responsible for the faulty safety equipment nor did he intentionally cut any wires to cause the accident so calling him a mu*derer and cancelling him is unreasonable and plain s*upid. This wouldn't fly in real life.

That was my main complaint. I can't come up with anything else right now so I shall end my review with that. If you are into a soft persimmon MC with low EQ finding love with a cold fashionista germaphobe ML, you might wanna check this novel out. <<less

I mtled the whole story by myself because I couldn't find the mtl version in internet. It's a good rebirth story with some cliche and some not moments. The ML is the usual stoic and cold ML you will find at most stories and the only good thing is that he do not fall in love fast. The MC do not have much golden finger which do not makes him super OP from the start -thank god for that- He actually learned acting a lot in the new life and... more>> benefit a lot from it. All in all it's a great story to be read if you have the patient to mtl it yourself as the translation is really slow and not that great itself. The usual scene of confessing at the award show is almost not there so glad for that.

I recommend reading it if you are already used to mtl something bcs if not you may not understand most of what they are saying. <<less

Just to start off, yes the translation is a little wonky but it's still readable and better than mtl.

The story itself is okay and doesn't really hold any weight. The difference between reading and setting it down to do something else isn't much.

The MC was difficult to understand why he would allow himself to be trapped in a bad contract. I did believe the story was interesting but was frustrated with the MC handling his company's agreement. He had confidence in his ability to act but fell short on business sense. Otherwise, the chemistry between the ML and MC was built up well. I hope the translator continues. Neutral. ML and MC are both new in the words love and relationship (Author might be also newbie on it). It takes a long time for them to establish mutual understanding most of the time ML is full (brain of supplements) / illusion/ misunderstanding that the MC is inlove with him.

I enjoyed the film that both the MC and ML acted in and the way the whole scenario was written out. The story is quite mellow, more slice of life than the usual rebirth story. What I didn't find interesting and instead kind of boring was the mc's character towards the end, after he got together with the ml. It isn't that he's weak or incapable but his character just didn't stand out and he's too much of a good person. On the flip side, I really like the ML... more>> even though he is the cliche cold type. The ML is pretty forward and active with the MC, in ways that is different from the typical cold mls. No matter, it's a nice read to pass time. <<less
