The Big Sister character must at least look significantly more mature than the partner, meaning that Lolibabas (Grandmother lolis), or loli adults (which are usually more used as mascot characters), are not counted.

The partner character has to be younger, and most of the time, physically shorter. In cases where they are not shorter, then the older sister character must at least be much more experienced to make up for it (for example, MILF).

Examples:

- Onee-shota (Older sister + Little Boy)
- Female Teacher + Student
- Young Mother + Children
- Older Sister + Younger Sibling

The Protagonist may be the Older Sister-type character, or the one being fancied, doesn't matter.

So to explain some of the terms used:

* "Onee" = the Bis sis, the Onee-chan, the Onee-sama, the Aneue, the MILF, etc.

* "Shota" = When the partner is a little boy
* "Loli" = When the partner is a little girl
* "Shonen" = when the partner is a male young adult, who doesn't look or behave like a Shota anymore
* "Shoujo" = when the partner is a female young adult, who doesn't look or behave like a Loli anymore
