Popular idol Mu Xingyu suddenly left the drama crew and terminated his contract with the management company. Haters said, “He was abandoned by his sponsor.” But not long after, diligent netizens discovered that Mu Xingyu is the only son of a real estate tycoon. This left the haters dumbfounded.

Later, Mu Xingyu got high-end endors**ents and appeared in a big-budget film and television series. Everyone thought he relied on his father, but the investment actually came from the Gu Group. Rumor has it that the head of the Gu family, Gu Yunzhou, has a disability and is known for being cold and ruthless, a true ice-cold tyrant.

Mu Xingyu wasn’t happy with this perception and posted on Weibo, “This is my husband. He has a gentle personality and good health!”

In the previous life, Mu Xingyu mistakenly trusted a scumbag and caused Gu Yunzhou’s death, with Gu Yunzhou even begging for the scumbag’s mercy before his death. Given a second chance, Mu Xingyu decisively married Gu Yunzhou and, using his skills, woke him up.

Gu Yunzhou had been in a coma for over a year due to a car accident. He didn’t expect to wake up married to his love. He was happy inside but had to maintain a serious demeanor. Stars who are not focused on the entertainment industry can only be conquered by a gentle tycoon.

An interesting premise in the first 10 chapters, then just a novel full of poorly used and slightly boring clichés.

It's as if the author decided to exaggerate the wrong points. It could be very intense characters, intense revenge, an intense romance or even an unrealistically overpowered character. But all the intensity was focused on uninteresting parts like ML's childishness or the revenges that never seemed to go anywhere. Like a chip to destroy the brain of a person who was about to betray the villain? Wtf?? Even the confrontation with... more>> the main villain was annoying.

The MC's ableism and blasé personality made the novel lukewarm, with repetitive plots and boring resolutions. It particularly irritates me when a character has the chance to go back in time and correct regrets in their life, but decides to live in the blasé way possible. A person completely indifferent to the wonderful things happening around them, who only makes boring choices or acts as if they didn't want to be there, but still couldn't help it.

It could be a breathtaking novel that would create butterflies in the stomach, but the poor use of clichés, shallow personalities and weak motivations of all the characters turned its potential into a dull novel. <<less

This story was OK - it's one of the rebirth tropes I love the most (rebirth to face slap the real villains), but it did feel a bit amateur in it's execution.

One, there's a random lotus bracelet that the author uses as an excuse for the magical rebirth and ML healing. What a lazy explanation for the rebirth and completely unnecessary excuse for the recovery. It honestly diminishes the accomplishment of the mc/ML and the whole story line if the only reason they're succeeding is because of a mysterious magical... more>> artifact that sucks other people's vitality so that the MC can have a more perfect face (and take easy, secret revenge on people he doesn't like) and the ML can more easily walk (and survive assassination attempts).

The side villains and minor drama in the story are also a bit immature. I struggle to believe people would really be so mindlessly, s*upidly cruel. And the fans/netizens are so flat as well - thoughtlessly loving the MC and jumping on the biggest bandwagon they can find as quickly as possible. I guess there must be people like that, but not everyone, and certainly not the majority of working people. I struggle to imagine having the energy or desire to invest so much into a random person who I already know doesn't need the money or my attention.

The characters in general all felt a bit hallow - I felt like the personalities of the MC and ML weren't even consistent. It really bothered me how "smart" the ML was supposed to be, but how very dumb he acted in the end regarding the MC and their relationship. Once again, he felt more like rich second generation showing off than a mature, intelligent businessman. And the MC would get randomly offended or angry and then randomly retaliate or let it go. He showed very little of he humbleness or down-to-earthness I'd expect from someone who lived such a disastrous first life. The only time any of those experiences shine through is when it can enhance his acting so that he can unrealistically impress directors and others with his realistic acting.

I also found it a bit cringe-worthy that the author knew enough about reality to know there were no aristocracies in China (thanks to the cultural revolution), but didn't know enough to know that there was little chance if the Chinese contributing in any way to the aristocracies of other western countries. If the British aristocracy were to mix with any Asian countries, I'd expect India, certainly not China. And even if they did, I doubt they'd be through legitimate children that could inherit but also retain ability to integrate back into Chinese society. In fact, any of the scenes abroad, especially when the author tried to make the other country's residents impressed by a bunch of minor Chinese celebrities, was just so unrealistic and weird, I could barely read on.

I found myself more interested in young master An and his brother's relationship towards the end because the ML and mc's relationship was so bland.

I honestly found myself repeatedly checking how many more chapters there were. The book could have probably ended 20 chapters before it actually did, especially since the ending doesn't really add that much and doesn't tie up any loose ends.

All this said, it's a relatively short read and the translator does a great job. <<less

I was expecting something filled with sugar and maybe a couple of faceslaps here and there but... This is the kind of author that tells you too much but show too little.

If you ever read one of those stories were MC transmigrated in a novel with characters that seems like puppet of the plot constrained by the narrative, I bet this is one those types of novel they had read. SOMEONE COULD PROBABLY MAKE A STORY BASED ON THIS NOVEL!

You don't need a dialogue for the characters or think about... more>> what they feel because in every next sentence, the author was like basically telling you what to feel.

I'm usually very lenient with these type of stories as long as the characters are endearing and I don't care about others BUT THIS ONE IS JUST BLAND FLATCAKE WITHOUT EMOTIONAL FLUCTUATIONS AND FREEDOM TO THINK FOR THEIR OWN!

Why did I say that? Why indeed. Let me give you bunch of examples...

Spoiler

ML thinking he should confess his love first (when, how, why exactly?). No one knows! A mystery that wasn't entirely interesting enough to uncover because author doesn't feed a scrap of it except the question about the Mc's currently non-existing scar on the cheeks.

His love language? Material gifts. BCUZ GODD*MN GENTLENESS, VISIBLE DOTINGNESS, INTIMACY AND EVEN A SMILE ARE SO PRECIOUS TO SHOW TO MC! (note the sarcasm)

ML ask MC if he could give ML a chance to pursue him. MC felt conflicted. How do we know? Because the narrative told us so, not because readers need to dissect MC's thoughts and internal turmoil.

Another one would be...

MC thinking it wouldn't be bad to date. Then he didn't think after that, calls ML that he'll be going home alone, didn't even visit his office. Then ML got poisoned. MC asked 'Mr. Gu, will be fine right?'

I cringed.

And another...

Here's your list of villains. You don't need to know their motivations and they're pov, they'll tell you themselves and they are forever bad.

Jealous people is jealous people. MCs camp is MCs camp. What happened and actions of the antagonist in the past life is what they will be doing this life.

Fluffy and very predictable novel with no substance.

Nothing was really surprising. MC was a little too OP. Overall story was fine, just a light read about the entertainment circle. I feel like the author recycled a lot of plots, or maybe it's just me. Every entertainment novel pretty much has these plots:
Spoiler
    • ML secretly supporting MC in a side account
    • semi-bad/evil agent (MC usually breaking the contract and moving to a different company)
    • a bunch of dumb cannon fodder who try to use the MC and get lawyer letters instead
    • a bunch of dumb cannon fodder who try to splash dirty water on the MC and get screwed over instead
    • a trip to a foreign country where a fight starts and a star or two threaten to call the police on a foreigner or there's racism (have these authors traveled abroad, like ever???)
    • authors who have no idea how stock markets work and immediately have companies just die bc their stocks fell due to a rumor or news article about cheating...

Translation was great.

I love this type of rebirth second chance at life BL.

The MC dies and goes back in time (or it could be a different dimension), anyway he rights his wrongs and although he doesn't start out as liking the ML it later turns into love. The ML loves the MC from the start.

I love the MC's cheat! He heals the ML with a bracelet that his blood activated in his previous life. I wish the author could've taken this magical cheat even further like a magical space or cultivation so... more>> that the MC and ML can spend immortality together. But it's probably safe to assume that they have become semi cultivators because of their increase in hearing ability etc. So maybe they'll age slower naturally.

The MC is a young master of the rich Mu real estate family and the ML is the helm of the Gu family who despite being richer than other rich families have had a very tragic life losing his ability to walk and his parents at the age of 10. The MC becomes an actor. Yes there will be a travel show🤣 and the Extras has the travel show with he ML. Also the MC never tells the ML about the past life but the ML starts having nightmares about the past life in the Extras which is a kind of flashback to what happened how the ML himself died and then followed the MC as a ghost to see him working on a construction site, being curled up and drenched in rain in a corner of a room, going to prison, and seeing the MC after commiting su*cide. The nightmares was short but very emotional 😭 I'm so glad they had a second chance at happiness!

About the MLs past
Spoiler

I don't know if I'm h wonky one but I think his parents plane crash accident wasn't an accident. I think Andre's father or someone caused him to fall and break both his legs which panicked his parents into flying so maybe that plane crash was planned but he author never got into that only saying that the ML blamed himself for the accident. The ML and his grandpa both still calls it an accident. There are also other plot points that the author mentions but doesn't go into it like why the ML's cousin ended up drowned in the previous life and the author could've brought that up in he plot again as something the MC could've helped preventing?

[collapse]

Also there's this cute side couple of Ryan and his arrogant little stepbrother which I wish we could've at least had a happy ending for in an extra, but the author did mention that it would still take a long time for Ryan to convince An.
Spoiler

An liking the ML and acting against the MC is also kind of explained because of this. An is afraid of entering into a relationship with Ryan or he doesn't want to admit his feelings so he tries to get close to the ML or pretend he likes him or tries to convince himself he likes the ML in order to avoid his true feelings. But after seeing the interaction between the MC and ML he backs off and he isn't actually a bad person he's just a little like a spiky hedgehog. Also it's mentioned Ryan attending the MC and MLs wedding so maybe we can assume they went together?

Novel is something like good feel. It's something like removing a thorn on your throat or untangling of knots from their previous life.

Its like a part 2 from a tragic novel... Basically, a breath of fresh air.

It has a charm and freshness that never cloys. (For me I guess, but not for those who rated this novel low) 😂😂

Thank you to the people who brought up this novel. ❤️❤️❤️

The plot is fine no major loopholes but it is kinda flat. The major points of the plot and revenge part are easily solved and super fast fix in opinion. The focused is primarily the relationship that sometimes it feels cringey. I can recommend this if you just want to past time or just want flat fluffy to disperse the pain about the last book you read kinda thing

An interesting concept with potential bogged down with cliches instead of doing something new.

The MC is naive and ends up harming his own family and the ML after being tricked by the villain. Honestly I felt it rather unique that the ML actually died and the MC goes to jail for it. Very interesting beginning and potentially complex emotions.

Unfortunately the story doesn't take much advantage of this. I don't mind the magical bracelet plot device as initially it feels like that it's going somewhere. But it really does act like... more>> a convenient plot device to 'heal' ML from his disability. The ableism is obvious.

The MC also isn't questioned much and is able to 'fix' things rather easily. The stakes are so low because the MC just wants to act because he enjoys it. If he didn't succeed, it wouldn't impact anything other than him being feeling bad. Because he's rich, doted on by his rich parents and now has a spouse who is the most richest. The MC's character isn't bad just not very memorable.

The really dumb cliche this novel does is of the ML making people go bankrupt??? Like these 2 women are a little mean to MC so ML decides to destroy their family's livelihoods. Excuse me?

The villain's end was dumb as heck. So dumb. Because he was actually clever and ML was forced to let him go once and then his company gets destroyed in the background and he blows himself up???? Hello? And why did one character randomly have a 'neural control chip' in his neck that was never mentioned again?

Honestly I think the author had ideas and was throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. The technology level is confusing, the joke of a supporting character being pursued by his step bro even though he feels uncomfortable and doesn't want it is waved off, and the MC has acting skills that are weirdly good despite him never getting classes or learning it. Bits and pieces of ideas crammed together to make some good bits and some as complete nonsense, and keeping the novel overall as rather shallow. <<less

The plot is fine, rather nice. The characters all Lovable. Our MC is not black or white, so I like it. The small part of supernatural power was unexpected but pleasant. Things more less worrying with it. Especially because MC doesn't play saint, used it for good, and bad for the baddies.

Things is not Perfect Novel, but still absolutely Enjoyable to read, and no dislike for MC and ML.

Anyway it didn't make you feel big in emotional, but it's not flat either. It's just Nice, with some Faceslapping, but not... more>> overdoing it.

The last extra ended a bit too rushed though. It's not hanging, just not written as nice? Hmmm 🤔

Overall good novel if you want something Light and No Angst. <<less

Personal rating 4.0 at first the pace was a bit too fast.. But after they resolve the villain.. The pace is better.. Also the sweet is overflowing, I guess sweet was the savior for this novel, it may contain lil bit brain hole but its ok.. For 76 chp u cam just skimmed it. It's a simple sweet with a lil bit drama BL, it's perfect for light reading
