A novel that had a good start but went bad midway. The business management and romance tags are completely misleadingThe MC gains his abilities due to his desire to become rich, but after some chapters, he just becomes a guy who wants to become strong. And before you know it, he's the strongest. His level up speed is too fast and unrealistic. The MC was someone who would be considered a below average guy in the beginning, but he became one of the top existences in the universe... in probably... more>> a year? Even Xianxia MC's know for the fast growth cant compare to him.

The romance is awful. The main girl rarely shows up and seems more like the MC's cook/housekeeper. As for the other one... meh. She seems to have vanished and has no role to play anymore.

I'd give this novel 2 stars, but giving it three because of the good start and fast translation. <<less

Plot Summary

MC is a poor man, with a broken leg and balding hair. Then one day, he finds a corpse under his bed. This causes him to find out about a whole new world. He starts gathering subordinates and an army, fighting for territory and power. There is transitions between the real world and the "virtual world", where the MC goes into every night.

Review:
To all the others before me who have said it was bad, please take the time to read the newer released chapters. Just like you guys,... more>> I felt that this novel was lacking and boring during the beginning. However, it does get a lot more interesting and there is a lot more action. I do agree that the character becomes OP a little fast, but it is still early in the book. Definitely deserving at least a 3.5/5, but personally I enjoyed reading it and I think it deserves a 4 - 4.5. <<less

The story plays out in seoul, the MC lives in a cheap room and has a lot of hardship in live. This all changed when he got the opportunity to ''play'' in a ''dreamworld''.

The overall situation of the character is quite interesting and it keeps making you wonder what his next steps will be and what he will encounter. However, it does sometimes comes over as a bit too easy for the main character, hope this will change in the future.

At first, I was really bored. The first chapters aren't exactly suitable hooks, but it gets better. The MC goes from being this poor man to this charismatic... Something. Yeah I'm really bad at this.

Anyway he becomes stronger and the dimensions game is slowly explained. The mysteries come out and it gets really good. Despite the bad reviews of it being boring it can become a decent read if you so will it.

Try it. ?

A fast paced story where the line between reality and a dream world is blurred. Our MC who had fallen on hard times had a fortuitous encounter which gives him the ability similar to those of a video game. He is told to participate in a dream world where he has to fulfill missions ranging from collecting energy to making buildings in the virtual space. In return, he is given real world rewards that reflect his dream world accomplishments and able to use his newfound abilities to influence his real... more>> life.

The story moves at a blazing pace, we have a mysterious virtual world, a supernatural event, bullies and money problems. Each chapter is relatively brief reads almost like a script, very little is given to descriptions except for the gaming elements.

As of ch25, we see extensions of the MC's abilities but not much of the plot as yet.

It makes for quick and light reading. <<less

I'll start of by saying that I find it hard to relate to the extremely bad reviews given by many. There are complaints about plot armor and luck, but what these reviews fail to realize is that the story is meant to show the massive increase in strength of a single person, which is our MC. This simply is near impossible to do without luck, because having no luck would directly deprive the MC of certain opportunities and that would thereby lead to the death of said MC and the... more>> end of the story. You don't like luck and plot armor? Then you must've stopped reading nearly any novel updated here on NU because 99% of the novels here have plot armor. Even stories highly rated such as ISSTH, WMW, and CD have plot armor. Granted, this novel may have more of it than other novels, but luck is an essential part of a solo OP MC's growth (a type of MC which is all to common in a lot of these novels). If you remove the plot armor argument, what you're left with is a good story which can be read to pass time. The story, characters, and flow are good. If there is one thing that I didn't like, it would be the fast pacing in certain situations where it would be better to be more detailed. Is it one of the best novels out there? No. Is it a novel with a proper story and action that can be put on a person's reading list? Yes. All in all, if you like an OP MC and don't mind a bit more plot armor than other stories, then you'll enjoy this novel so give it a shot! <<less

First, a very sincere thank you to the translator, who did the hard work of bringing this into English: Your work's appreciated, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for what you focus on next. I'm very glad to see the completion of a translated work.

That said, I sorely regret wasting my time reading this series. The story starts out well enough, but a rapid inflation of power level begins not long after the main character gets control of a building. This wouldn't be a terrible -- there are plenty... more>> of stories that tap into challenges met, then blown through -- but nothing else of interest was taking place surrounding the fights. The secondary characters remained names, a vague description and a single basic trait, and possessed absolutely no growth. The main character gets into his grove pretty quickly -- a focus on diligence -- and never strays or really questions after he hits his stride. Other reviews mention that the story could have been far longer, and that's definitely true. Far too often, a challenge is introduced then surpassed, in a way that didn't really add to the narrative. The same stories could have been told by hewing to a smaller power curve, or even by taking the time to explore the challenges presented — or people's reactions to those challenges — before blowing past them to the next big thing.

It felt like a paint-by-numbers piece, taking the form of a martial arts story, without really understanding how to convey any sense of the drama or import of events.

Read something else. There's plenty out there. <<less

Entirely Average.

Dimensional Sovereign suffers from what I am thinking of as the check list syndrome. And not in the sense of Xainxia rinse and repeat syndrome, Xainxia offers much more world building.... instead it follows this formula.

Fight - level up - new skill - fight - level up - new skill - new area - fight - level up - new skill - fight - level up - new skill - new area. So on so fourth.

At the start there is world building, a villain that you kinda gave... more>> a sh*t about, and you couldn't help but wonder what would happen as the character prepared for the big boss.

Unfortunately the author got bored or lazy and decided to write how an mmo plays. Not some vrmmo novel like arc or lms, but a legit lazy assed motherf*cking mmo. tedious and grindy. <<less

As of Chapter 88, I love reading this story.

It was close to getting a 5 star rating, except I felt the author didn't take enough advantage of the unique concept, the RTS Elements within the story. The last 20ish chapters, the red moon arc, has relied so much on action and battle, it is starting to feel like every other story. I felt the contest between sovereigns had more of a complex plot, but that has become meaningless due to OPness.

A couple of things that were missed, or RTS elements... more>> that could have been added:

Spoiler

A bunch of sovereigns were killed in the real world fighting the Ghoul Lord... And the MC didn't loot their sovereign rings?
When you play RTS games, timing, strategy, build order, defense, scouting, terrain all make a difference... adding any of these adds to the story
- MC could adjust his building order to emphasize the combat training research first, to give him more buffs while doing the red moon invasion
- MC could order low level grunts, and household members to carefully capture building territories according to level, like have his oger lead a team to conquer 4th story building, and have his military commander, the first converted member, to take over 1-2 story buildings... This is not so much for the territory as it is to level up his team.
- MC could decide to grow his land towards the nearest mountains, body of water like an ocean, to give himself a natural protection from being surrounded by other Sovereigns.
- Building Scout Units and sending them to discover other sovereigns, taking over a local park and getting a happiness increase to his minions, etc...

I thought it was a rather decent novel at first but then I started to realize that it was the same wish-fulfillment crap, the author deliberately gives the illusion that the MC is working hard but in reality, he isn't sweating it at all, the harem is undeserved and the only time the MC is shown struggling is in the last 20 chapters or so, and the fact that he forgave the celestial gods makes seem it even more f*cked up.

So, if you like novel with unbalanced power, one dimensional characters, your daily typical Isekai's MC and Generic plot, this novel is for you.

I don't mind if MC advancing fast as long it was result from effort. Author in this novel keep claiming that MC is the only one who make the efforts on EVERY THING which giving him the power.

Plus I don't understand how the system works in this novel. At first they said this certain abilities/items are so hard to get it's just too rare. Huh until our... more>> MC got it almost every single time, as if those "probability" doesn't applies at him.

Spoiler

During character creation, the system said to him that all abilities except Charisma and Luck can be obtain through level up. Charisma and luck are just hard to get they said. So every person have 3 chances to rerolled abilities allocation.

Here is weird one, Author makes MC is the only person In the entire Dream world on earth have high good luck and Charisma as if all other sovereigns are bunch of idiots.

This novel allows Sovereign to make their own troops and recruits subordinates. Oh man as if those are important. I was so hype to see MC struggle to manage the militaries because he is poor person. NOPE in few chapters he makes billions upon billions upon billlions. Which means our MC just skip alllll the hurdles and get nice troop. I was okay by it. Until Other world Invansion happens.

Cool finally we can see MC lead his soldiers to war together with other sovereigns to defend earth. NOPE. For some reason, Earth Sovereigns didn't even use a single soldiers they make and recruits. They themselves are the one who fight against armies of enemies. Meanwhile Invaders have special treatment where they can bring their soldiers to fight. SO WHAT THE f*ck IS THE PURPOSE FOR SOVEREIGNS SPENTS MONEY AND UPGRADE MILITARIES STUFF IF THEY CAN EVEN USE IT DURING WAR? ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT WAR?!

This author is just, at first here I add this feature and then I will ignore the feature I added.

Aren't Sovereign means ruler? Yet you tell me rulers have to go to battle why his men in the base doing NOTHING.

Another s*upid happen. FOR SOME REASON, OUR MC is f*cking OP just because he inherit a sword skills. He easily overtake other Sovereigns who being battle for many years.

Even weirder, People was suprise that MC can recruited high levels?? I was like, you guys didn't think about that??! Nonsenses.

[collapse]

Reason why I gave it 2 stars because I like the new creativity kind a vibe but too bad it just BAD. <<less

Novel was very good at the beginning, I especially liked the game aspect of it (the leveling, items, skills...) and kingdom building, however that went down the drain when he started traveling trough the universe (basically going to other planets / worlds). From there on, you can basically see that author didn't try his best at writing the novel, since there were way less explanations about new things, plot as well as the character interactions felt rushed, etc...

Another good point was that the MC wasn't very annoying, he was quite... more>> bearable and stayed (somewhat) consistent to his character till the end. <<less

As people have said, it had good potential in the early chapters. Planning, strategical thinking, recruitment, then BOOM, all that became irrelevant during and after "the war". Everything just comes to him, legendary item to unlock legendary place = legendary follower, then becomes useless after a few chapters because of power up. The only reason I gave this a two is because of the nice start.

Very standard OP MC novel, there was decent amount of character development at the start, but the novel just started accelerating and the story just did not have good pacing. Everything felt rushed, and it could have easily been a 500 chapter novel but it was compressed into 179 chapters. Tons of plot holes
... more>>
Spoiler

1. Soverign's 100 missions. He gets OP so fast he doesn't need 100 missions anymore
2. The plot development is always pushed to the system, giving him the things he needs critically at many moments.

However, it's still a good time killer if you're looking for a generic OP MC novel with harem. <<less

Here is my honest review for this novel. This novel is ridiculously fast paced I don't even think it has even been half a year and the MC has practically become a god. How ever for a novel that only has 180 chapters thats to be expected.

The MC goes around and he gains very powerful subordinates however do to how fast his strength grows the moment he gains them they become useless. No I mean that literally he gains exp for obtaining subordinates then he levels up like crazy on... more>> the spot and the subordinates become useless.

There are a lot of plot holes but can be overlooked. The romance is well ugh I can't really explain it lets just say its forced. HOWEVER besides all of the above it is a very entertaining novel to read its not one like Issth where you sit and think of all the mystery but a simple fast pace novel where the MC becomes op and rekts everyone its a fun read I would recommend it! <<less

3.5 round to 4

Based on its tags it certainly have all of those, still some of it are brief or just a passing thought. The author still managed to bring what he wanted to give the readers, a brief weak to strong to OP (so fast its an eye opener) fast-paced story.

If you don't mind how the MC is so lucky that will get you jealous, fast-paced not having to read 3k chapters just to get there. Then this should provide you entertainment while you wait for your favorite's chapters... more>> to accumulate.

But if you're looking for deep, profound, story telling then you are in the wrong place. This place is mostly for common readers, not academics whose standards seem to reach the high heavens :D <<less

Okay listen to me, I have been binge reading the hell out of this novel yesterday and I am doing the same today. I made an account for this review. So let me tell you why to read this novel.

The concept is amazing, I am not fond of VR or gaming novels these days. They focus too much on all the status points and rpg stuff and just takes away too much of the story. I think this novel found a great balance between the story, the action and the... more>> basebuilding.

This on it's own should be enough to interest you however, what's even better is the sheer potential this story has. I have only ready 98 chapters so far as that is what is released as of now. But the plot shows great promise:
Spoiler

I mean he got a legacy apparently, there are worlds beyond the one he is at right now, he has god like powers but can easily be killed by the enemies.

All by all I can only say that this offers great potential and is fine read. <<less

Honestly, the initial chapters need some patience, but the story gets progressively better. It's entertaining, and makes you eager for the next chapter. I like how the MC builds his military strength, and it looks like there will be a large scale war in the future, which will be fun to read about. I also like OP characters, and he works hard to get his powers.

I'm usually generous with my rating. As long as I don't get bored mid-ark, enjoy the story, and look forward to more, I give it... more>> a 5 stars. <<less

This novel is the definition of a 3/5

Let me tell you how to enjoy this novel, turn your brain off. PERIOD.

I felt like the author was pretty serious in their writing in the beginning, as there was a lot of details involved. But as the story progressed, it became a power fantasy (even more so than it already is). Skills and systems that were introduced early on were complete abandoned such as, THE MAIN SYSTEM OF THE STORY.

Early on MC has to grow his base and expand his control over... more>> buildings by buying them, but around half way, in that system is completely abandoned, mind you it was there for like ~70 chapters, so what was the point? As MC grew stronger, he also didn't need any suboardinates as he's a solo fighter, so it was pretty much useless recruting them in the first place, other than the fact that some of them would become his harem. Which brings me onto my next point, the harem in this novel is tasteless. IT DID NOT MAKE SENSE. Basically any girl who MC recruits into his household falls in love with him or wants to sleep with him. Some characters I can give some leeway as there was some (emphasize some) development, but even then, it's stretching it. Conclusion: Main System which was arguably the gimmick that got people to read in the first place was abandoned half way in, and harem in this one was absolutely tr*sh (keep in mind I'm usually fine with harem, so me hating it here is a big deal).

Now, the biggest problem of this novel, the pacing. All the problems listed previously I can somehwat ignore or turn a blind eye to, but with pacing, it was too much. Like I said I think the author wrote pretty seriously early on, the pacing was fine and a decent amount of chapters were spent showing MC in the real world, but then around the middle, MC just kept getting stronger and stronger, getting power ups left and right. Nowhere in the novel did it state that the MC was talented or anything like that, so this was basically the author spoonfeeding the MC powerups in order to end the story.

Overall, if you want a VERY GENERIC power fantasy, this is the novel for you, just simply turn your brain off and enjoy it (especially near the end).

But if you're actually looking for a decent read where MC progressively grows stronger with good pacing, close this tab and don't look back or even think twice. <<less

It's okay at first, but it quickly becomes mediocre at best. By chapter 100 or so it is basically just Kang-jun going to the dream world every few days to be given easy levels, loads of items and money, and asking everyone he meets if they want to join him. The only saving grace is that it's short compared to a lot of Chinese light novels. But that isn't good enough for me to recommend it. Even at this point, there is still no recognizable plot. The main character is... more>> completely inconsistent. He'll act like he hates evil people one second, then invite a mass mu*derer to join his group a moment later. Basically, the author just threw in whatever nonsense they could think of to increase the word count. If you have nothing better to do, you should probably still skip this novel. Go take a nap or reread something you really liked. <<less
